This is an extended version of a communication made at the international conference ``Noncommutative Geometry and Physics'' held at Orsay in april 2007. In this proceeding, we make a review of some noncommutative constructions connected to the ordinary fiber bundle theory. The noncommutative algebra is the endomorphism algebra of a SU(n)-vector bundle, and its differential calculus is based on its Lie algebra of derivations. It is shown that this noncommutative geometry contains some of the most important constructions introduced and used in the theory of connections on vector bundles, in particular, what is needed to introduce gauge models in physics, and it also contains naturally the essential aspects of the Higgs fields and its associated mechanics of mass generation. It permits one also to extend some previous constructions, as for instance symmetric reduction of (here noncommutative) connections. From a mathematical point of view, these geometrico-algebraic considerations highlight some new point on view, in particular we introduce a new construction of the Chern characteristic classes.
The Lagrange-Poincaré equations for a mechanical system with symmetry on the principal fiber bundle over the base represented by the bundle space of the associated bundle
Coordinate representation of the Lagrange-Poincaré equations for a mechanical system with symmetry on the total space of a principal fiber bundle whose base is the bundle space of the associated bundle
Given a free action of a compact Lie group $G$ on a unital C*-algebra $\mathcal{A}$ and a spectral triple on the corresponding fixed point algebra $\mathcal{A}^G$, we present a systematic and in-depth construction of a spectral triple on $\mathcal{A}$ that is build upon the geometry of $\mathcal{A}^G$ and $G$. We compare our construction with a selection of established examples.
Transition to the case of "resolved gauge" in the Lagrange-Poincaré equations for a mechanical system with symmetry on the total space of a principal fiber bundle whose base is the bundle space of the associated bundle
We present two classes of examples of Hopf algebroids associated with noncommutative principal bundles. The first comes from deforming the principal bundle while leaving unchanged the structure Hopf algebra. The second is related to deforming a quantum homogeneous space; this needs a careful deformation of the structure Hopf algebra in order to preserve the compatibilities between the Hopf algebra operations.
The case of non-zero momentum level reduction in Wiener path integrals for a mechanical system with symmetry describing the motion of two scalar particles with interaction on a Riemannian product manifold with the given action a compact semisimple Lie group is considered. The original product manifold consists of the vector space and a smooth compact finite-dimensional Riemannian manifold, which, due to the action of the group, can be regarded as the total space of the principal fiber bundle. The integral relation between the path integrals representing the fundamental solutions of the backwar…
We present a new, general approach to gauge theory on principal $G$-spectral triples, where $G$ is a compact connected Lie group. We introduce a notion of vertical Riemannian geometry for $G$-$C^\ast$-algebras and prove that the resulting noncommutative orbitwise family of Kostant's cubic Dirac operators defines a natural unbounded $KK^G$-cycle in the case of a principal $G$-action. Then, we introduce a notion of principal $G$-spectral triple and prove, in particular, that any such spectral triple admits a canonical factorisation in unbounded $KK^G$-theory with respect to such a cycle: up to a…
We study the Ehresmann--Schauenburg bialgebroid of a noncommutative principal bundle as a quantization of the classical gauge groupoid of a principal bundle. When the base algebra is in the centre of the total space algebra, the gauge group of the noncommutative principal bundle is isomorphic to the group of bisections of the bialgebroid. In particular we consider Galois objects (non-trivial noncommutative bundles over a point in a sense) for which the bialgebroid is a Hopf algebra. For these we give a crossed module structure for the bisections and the automorphisms of the bialgebroid. Exampl…
For the Jacobian resulting from the previously considered problem of the path integral reduction in Wiener path integrals for a mechanical system with symmetry describing the motion of two interacting scalar particles on a manifold that is the product of a smooth compact finite-dimensional Riemannian manifold and a finite-dimensional vector space, a geometric representation is obtained. This representation follows from the formula for the scalar curvature of the original manifold endowed by definition with a free isometric smooth action of a compact semisimple Lie group. The derivation of this…
We establish a noncommutative generalisation of the Borel-Weil theorem for the Heckenberger-Kolb calculi of the quantum Grassmannians. The result is formulated in the framework of quantum principal bundles and noncommutative complex structures, and generalises previous work of a number of authors on quantum projective space. As a direct consequence we get a novel noncommutative differential geometric presentation of the twisted Grassmannian coordinate ring studied in noncommutative projective geometry. A number of applications to the noncommutative Kähler geometry of the quantum Grassmannians …
We study the Ehresmann--Schauenburg bialgebroid of a noncommutative principal bundle as a quantization of the gauge groupoid of a classical principal bundle. We show that the gauge group of the noncommutative bundle is isomorphic to the group of bisections of the bialgebroid, and we give a crossed module structure for the bisections and the automorphisms of the bialgebroid. Examples illustrating these constructions include: Galois objects of Taft algebras, a monopole bundle over a quantum spheres and a not faithfully flat Hopf--Galois extension of commutative algebras. The latter two examples …
