We investigate cluster states of qubits with respect to their non-local properties. We demonstrate that a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) argument holds for any cluster state: more precisely, it holds for any partial, thence mixed, state of a small number of connected qubits (five, in the case of one-dimensional lattices). In addition, we derive a new Bell inequality that is maximally violated by the 4-qubit cluster state and is not violated by the 4-qubit GHZ state.
Here we deal with a nonlocality argument proposed by Cabello which is more general than Hardy's nonlocality argument but still maximally entangled states do not respond. However, for most of the other entangled states maximum probability of success of this argument is more than that of the Hardy's argument.
We investigate the nonlocality of Schmidt-correlated (SC) states, and present analytical expressions of the maximum violation value of Bell inequalities. It is shown that the violation of Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality is necessary and sufficient for the nonlocality of two-qubit SC states, whereas the violation of the Svetlichny inequality is only a sufficient condition for the genuine nonlocality of three-qubit SC states. Furthermore, the relations among the maximum violation values, concurrence and relative entropy entanglement are discussed.
Quantum nonlocality can be revealed "via local contextuality" in qudit-qudit entangled systems with $d > 2$, that is, through the violation of inequalities containing Alice-Bob correlations that admit a local description, and Alice-Alice correlations (between the results of sequences of measurements on Alice's subsystem) that admit a local (but contextual) description. A fundamental question to understand the respective roles of entanglement and local contextuality is whether nonlocality via local contextuality exists when the parties have only qubit-qubit entanglement. Here we respond affirma…
An experimental setup for testing quantum nonlocality of N qubits is proposed. This method is a generalization of the optical setup proposed by Banaszek and Wodkiewicz [1]. The quantum nonlocality of N qubits can be obtained through its violation of N-qubit Bell inequalities. The correlation function measured in the experiment is described by the Wigner function. The effect of inefficient detector is also considered.
Incompatibility and nonlocality are not only of foundational interest but also act as important resources for quantum information theory. In the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) scenario, the incompatibility of a pair of observables is known to be equivalent to Bell nonlocality. Here, we investigate these notions in the context of qubit channels. The Bell-CHSH inequality has a greater perspective--compared to any genuine tripartite nonlocality scenario--while determining the interplay between nonlocality breaking qubit channels and incompatibility breaking qubit channels. In the Bell-CHSH sce…
Nonlocality and entanglement are not only the fundamental characteristics of quantum mechanics but also important resources for quantum information and computation applications. Exploiting the quantitative relationship between the two different resources is of both theoretical and practical significance. The common choice for quantifying the nonlocality of a two-qubit state is the maximal violation of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality. That for entanglement is entanglement of formation, which is a function of the concurrence. In this paper, we systematically investigate the quantitativ…
We have studied the analytical dynamics of Bell nonlocality as measured by CHSH inequality and entanglement as measured by concurrence for two noisy qubits that have dipole-dipole interaction. The nonlocal entanglement created by the dipole-dipole interaction is found to be protected from sudden death for certain initial states.
We present a Bell-type inequality for four-qubit systems. Using the inequality we investigate quantum nonlocality of a generic family of states $\left|G_{abcd}\right >$ [Phys. Rev. A 65, 052112 (2002)] and several canonical four-qubit entangled states. It has been demonstrated that the inequality is maximally violated by so called "four-qubit maximal entangled state $\left|G_{m}\right >$" and it is also violated by the four-qubit W state and a special family of states $\left|G_{ab00}\right >$. Moreover, a useful entanglement-nonlocality relationship for the family of states $\left|G_{ab00}\rig…
In this note, we discuss a closed-form necessary and sufficient condition for any two-qubit state to show hidden nonlocality w.r.t the Bell-CHSH inequality. This is then used to numerically compute the relative volume of states showing hidden Bell-CHSH non-locality , among all two-qubit states with one-sided reduction maximally mixed.
Nonlocality and quantum entanglement constitute two special aspects of the quantum correlations existing in quantum systems, which are of paramount importance in quantum-information theory. Traditionally, they have been regarded as identical (equivalent, in fact, for pure two qubit states, that is, {\it Gisin's Theorem}), yet they constitute different resources. Describing nonlocality by means of the violation of several Bell inequalities, we obtain by direct optimization those states of two qubits that maximally violate a Bell inequality, in terms of their degree of mixture as measured by eit…
We perform numerical tests on quantum nonlocality of two-level quantum systems (qubits) observed by a uniformly moving observer. Under a suitable momentum setting, the quantum nonlocality of two-qubit nonmaximally entangled states could be weakened drastically by the Lorentz transformation allowing for the existence of local-hidden-variable models, whereas three-qubit genuinely entangled states are robust. In particular, the generalized GHZ state remains nonlocal under arbitrary Wigner rotation and the generalized W state could admit local-hidden-variable models within a rather narrow range of…
In this paper, we consider teleportation capability, distillability, and nonlocality on three-qubit states. In order to investigate some relations among them, we first find the explicit formulas of the quantities about the maximal teleportation fidelity on three-qubit states. We show that if any three-qubit state is useful for three-qubit teleportation then the three-qubit state is distillable into a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state, and that if any three-qubit state violates a specific form of Mermin inequality then the three-qubit state is useful for three-qubit teleportation.
We investigate the robustness of multiparty nonlocality under local decoherence, acting independently and equally on each subsystems. To be specific, we consider an N-qubit GHZ state under depolarization, dephasing, or dissipation channel, and tested the nonlocality by violation of Mermin-Klyshko inequality, which is one of Bell's inequalities for multi-qubit systems. The results show that the robustness of nonlocality increases with the number of qubits, and that the nonlocality of an N-qubit GHZ state with even N is extremely persistent against dephasing.
In this note, we study Cabello's nonlocality argument (CNA) for three-qubit systems configured in the generalized GHZ state. For this class of states, we show that CNA runs for almost all entangled ones, and that the maximum probability of success of CNA is 14% (approx.), which is attained for the maximally entangled GHZ state. This maximum probability is slightly higher than that achieved for the standard Hardy's nonlocality argument (HNA) for three qubits, namely 12.5%. Also, we show that the success probability of both HNA and CNA for three-qubit systems can reach a maximum of 50% in the fr…
Entanglement, quantum steering and nonlocality are distinct quantum correlations which are the resources behind various of quantum information and quantum computation applications. However, a central question of determining the precise quantitative relation among them is still unresolved. Here, we present a mapping criterion between Bell nonlocality and quantum steering in bipartite qudit-qubit system, as well as a mapping criterion between quantum steering and quantum entanglement in bipartite qubit-qudit system, starting from the fundamental concepts of quantum correlations. Precise quantita…
Entanglement and Bell nonlocality are used to describe quantum inseparabilities. Bell-nonlocal states form a strict subset of entangled states. A natural question arises concerning how much territory Bell nonlocality occupies entanglement for a general two-qubit entangled state. In this work, we investigate the relation between entanglement and Bell nonlocality by using lots of randomly generated two-qubit states, and give out a constraint inequality relation between the two quantum resources. For studying the upper or lower boundary of the inequality relation, we discover maximally (minimally…
In this thesis, we study about three subjects 1- Classical simulation of two spin-$s$ singlet correlations for all $s$ involving spin measurements, 2- Quantum correlations in successive single spin measurements, 3- Non locality without inequality for almost all two-qubit entangled states based on Cabello's non locality argument.
We create a six-qubit linear cluster state by transforming a two-photon hyperentangled state in which three qubits are encoded in each particle, one in the polarization and two in the linear momentum degrees of freedom. For this state, we demonstrate genuine six-qubit entanglement, persistency of entanglement against the loss of qubits, and higher violation than in previous experiments on Bell inequalities of the Mermin type.
Mixed states appear naturally in experiment over pure states. So for studying different notions of nonlocality and their relation with entanglement in realistic scenarios, one needs to consider mixed states. In a recent article [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{108}, 020502 (2012)], a complete characterization of entanglement of an entire class of mixed three qubit states with the same symmetry as Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state known as GHZ-symmetric states, has been achieved. In this paper we investigate different notions of nonlocality of the same class of states. By finding the analytical expres…
We study the relations between quantum coherence and quantum nonlocality, genuine quantum entanglement and genuine quantum nonlocality. We show that the coherence of a qubit state can be converted to the nonlocality of two-qubit states via incoherent operations. The results are also generalized to qudit case. Furthermore, rigorous relations between the quantum coherence of a single-partite state and the genuine multipartite quantum entanglement, as well as the genuine three-qubit quantum nonlocality are established.
Bell's inequality is investigated for the three qubit GHZ state in relativistic regime. Two different relativistic spin operator are considered. One of them is defined by Lee, and the other is the Pauli-Lubanski pseudovector used by Kim \textit{et al}. It is shown that for both spin operator Bell's inequality is still maximally violated in a Lorentz-boosted frame.
The paper titled "Tripartite entanglement versus tripartite nonlocality in 3-qubit GHZ-class states", (Physical Review Letters 102, 250404 (2009)), does very important work on studying the nature of Svetlichny Inequalities (which are Bell-type inequalities) and sheds light on some important properties and relationship between Svetlichny inequality and tripartite entanglement. It derives a result for the maximum expectation value of Svetlichny operator for GGHZ and MS states. In this comment, it is put forth that there is probably a mistake in the central result derived in the paper.
We check the decoherence dynamics of Measurement-induced Nonlocality(in short, MIN) and compare it with geometric discord for two qubit systems. There are quantum states, on which the action of dephasing channel cannot destroy MIN in finite or infinite time. We check the additive dynamics of MIN on a qubit state under two independent noise. Geometric discord also follows such additive dynamics like quantum discord. We have further compared non-Markovian evolution of MIN and geometric discord under dephasing and amplitude damping noise for pure state and it shows distinct differences between th…
Quantum nonlocality of several four-qubit states is investigated by constructing a new Bell inequality. These include the Greenberger-Zeilinger-Horne (GHZ) state, W state, cluster state, and the state $|χ>$ that has been recently proposed in [PRL, {\bf 96}, 060502 (2006)]. The Bell inequality is optimally violated by $|χ>$ but not violated by the GHZ state. The cluster state also violates the Bell inequality though not optimally. The state $|χ>$ can thus be discriminated from the cluster state by using the inequality. Different aspects of four-partite entanglement are also studied by consideri…
Lorentz transformation of three-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state is studied. Also we obtain the relativistic spin joint measurement for the transformed state. Using these results it is shown that Bell's inequality is maximally violated for three-qubit GHZ state in relativistic regime. For ultrarelativistic particles we obtain the critical value for boost speed which Bell's inequality is not violated for velocities smaller than this value. We also show that in ultrarelativistic limit Bell's inequality is maximally violated for GHZ state.
We explore nonlocality of three-qubit pure symmetric states shared between Alice, Bob and Charlie using the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality. We make use of the elegant parametrization in the canonical form of these states, proposed by Meill and Meyer (Phys. Rev. A, 96, 062310 (2017)) based on Majorana geometric representation. The reduced two-qubit states, extracted from an arbitrary pure entangled symmetric three-qubit state do not violate the CHSH inequality and hence they are CHSH-local. However, when Alice and Bob perform a CHSH test, after conditioning over measurement result…
We consider unambiguous discrimination of two separable bipartite states, one being pure and the other being a rank-2 mixed state. There is a gap between the optimal success probability under global measurements and the one achieved by generalized measurements with separable measurement operators. We show that even the latter success probability cannot be achieved via local operations and classical communication, leaving a nonzero gap in between.
We analyze the relationship between tripartite entanglement and genuine tripartite nonlocality for 3-qubit pure states in the GHZ class. We consider a family of states known as the generalized GHZ states and derive an analytical expression relating the 3-tangle, which quantifies tripartite entanglement, to the Svetlichny inequality, which is a Bell-type inequality that is violated only when all three qubits are nonlocally correlated. We show that states with 3-tangle less than 1/2 do not violate the Svetlichny inequality. On the other hand, a set of states known as the maximal slice states do …
We experimentally demonstrate that the nonlocal nature of time-bin entangled photonic qubits persists when one or two qubits of the pair are converted to polarization qubits. This is possible by implementing a novel Universal Time-Bin Qubit Analyzer (UTBA), which, for the first time, allows analyzing time-bin qubits in any basis. We reveal the nonlocal nature of the emitted light by violating the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality with measurement bases exploring all the dimensions of the Bloch sphere. Moreover, we conducted experiments where one qubit is transmitted over a 12.4 km undergro…
We investigate the stationary entanglement and stationary nonlocality of two qubits collectively interacting with a common thermal environment. We assume two qubits are initially in Werner state or Werner-like state, and find that thermal environment can make two qubits become stationary nonlocality. The analytical relations among average thermal photon number of the environment, entanglement and nonlocality of two qubits are given in details. It is shown that the fraction of Bell singlet state plays a key role in the phenomenon that the common thermal reservoir can enhance the entanglement of…
A single photon, delocalized over two optical modes, is characterized by means of quantum homodyne tomography. The reconstructed four-dimensional density matrix extends over the entire Hilbert space and thus reveals, for the first time, complete information about the dual-rail optical quantum bit as a state of the electromagnetic field. The experimental data violate the Bell inequality albeit with a loophole similar to the detection loophole in photon counting experiments.
Quantum coherence and nonlocality capture nature of quantumness from different aspects. For the two-qubit states with diagonal correlation matrix, we prove strictly a hierarchy between the nonlocal advantage of quantum coherence (NAQC) and Bell nonlocality by showing geometrically that the NAQC created on one qubit by local measurement on another qubit captures quantum correlation which is stronger than Bell nonlocality. For general states, our numerical results present strong evidence that this hierarchy may still hold. So the NAQC states form a subset of the states that can exhibit Bell nonl…
There is currently much interest in the recycling of entangled systems, for use in quantum information protocols by sequential observers. In this work, we study the sequential generation of Bell nonlocality via recycling one or both components of two-qubit states. We first give a description of two-valued qubit measurements in terms of measurement bias, strength, and reversibility, and derive useful tradeoff relations between them. Then, we derive one-sided monogamy relations for unbiased observables, that strengthen the recent Conjecture in [S. Cheng {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. A \textbf{104}, L…
Recently the authors in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 090401 (2020)] considered the following scenario: Alice and Bob each have half of a pair of entangled qubit state. Bob measures his half and then passes his part to a second Bob who measures again and so on. The goal is to maximize the number of Bobs that can have an expected violation of the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality with the single Alice. By taking the maximally entangled pure two-qubit state as an example, it has been constructively proved that arbitrarily many independent Bobs can share the nonlocality with the single Alice.…
We consider a general version of the phenomenon of more nonlocality with less entanglement, within the framework of the unambiguous (i.e., conclusive) quantum state discrimination problem under local quantum operations and classical communication. We show that although the phenomenon was obtained before for two qutrits, it can also be observed for two qubits, while still being at the single-copy level. We establish that the phenomenon is intrinsically connected to the concept of unextendible entangled bases, in the two-qubit case. In the process, we demonstrate a hierarchy of nonlocality among…
Entanglement breaking channels play a significant role in quantum information theory. In this work we investigate qubit channels through their property of `non-locality breaking', defined in a natural way but within the purview of CHSH nonlocality. This also provides a different perspective on the relationship between entanglement and nonlocality through the dual picture of quantum channels instead of through states. For a channel to be entanglement breaking it is sufficient to `break' the entanglement of maximally entangled states. We provide examples to show that for CHSH nonlocality breakin…
In this paper we study how to preserve entanglement and nonlocality under dephasing produced by classical noise with large low-frequency components, as $1/f$ noise, by Dynamical Decoupling techniques. We first show that quantifiers of entanglement and nonlocality satisfy a closed relation valid for two independent qubits locally coupled to a generic environment under pure dephasing and starting from a general class of initial states. This result allows to assess the efficiency of pulse-based dynamical decoupling for protecting nonlocal quantum correlations between two qubits subject to pure-de…
The monogamy relations satisfied by quantum correlation measures play important roles in quantum information processing. Generally they are given in summation form. In this note, we study monogamy relations in product form. We present product-form monogamy relations for Bell nonlocality for three-qubit and multi-qubit quantum systems. We then extend our studies to other quantum correlations such as concurrence.
Amplitude damping changes entangled pure states into usually less-entangled mixed states. We show, however, that even local amplitude damping of one or two qubits can result in mixed states more entangled than pure states if one compares the relative entropy of entanglement (REE) for a given degree of the Bell-Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt inequality violation (referred to as nonlocality). By applying Monte-Carlo simulations, we find the maximally entangled mixed states and show that they are likely to be optimal by checking the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions, which generalize the method of Lagran…
Generalized quantum discord $(D_q)$, Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering $(S)$, entanglement $(E)$, and Bell nonlocality ($N$), are logically distinct quantifiers of quantum correlations. All these measures capture nonclassical aspects of quantum states and play some role as resources in quantum information processing. In this work, we look for the hierarchy satisfied by these quantum correlation witnesses for a class of two-qubit states. We show that $N \triangleright S\triangleright E\triangleright D_q$, meaning that nonlocality implies steering, which in turn implies entanglement, which then i…
The violation of the Svetlichny's inequality (SI) [Phys. Rev. D, 35, 3066 (1987)] is sufficient but not necessary for genuine tripartite nonlocal correlations. Here we quantify the relationship between tripartite entanglement and the maximum expectation value of the Svetlichny operator (which is bounded from above by the inequality) for the two inequivalent subclasses of pure three-qubit states: the GHZ-class and the W-class. We show that the maximum for the GHZ-class states reduces to Mermin's inequality [Phys. Rev. Lett. 65, 1838 (1990)] modulo a constant factor, and although it is a functio…
Increasingly sophisticated quantum computers motivate the exploration of their abilities in certifying genuine quantum phenomena. Here, we demonstrate the power of state-of-the-art IBM quantum computers in correlation experiments inspired by quantum networks. Our experiments feature up to 12 qubits and require the implementation of paradigmatic Bell-State Measurements for scalable entanglement-swapping. First, we demonstrate quantum correlations that defy classical models in up to nine-qubit systems while only assuming that the quantum computer operates on qubits. Harvesting these quantum adva…
We show that the continuous-variable analogues to the multipartite entangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states of qubits violate Bell-type inequalities imposed by local realistic theories. Our results suggest that the degree of nonlocality of these nonmaximally entangled continuous-variable states, represented by the maximum violation, grows with increasing number of parties. This growth does not appear to be exponentially large as for the maximally entangled qubit states, but rather decreases for larger numbers of parties.
We investigate the dynamics of entanglement and nonlocality for multipartite quantum systems under collective dephasing. Using an exact and computable measure for genuine entanglement, we demonstrate the possibility of a non trivial phenomenon of time-invariant entanglement for multipartite quantum systems. We find that for four qubits, there exist quantum states, which are changing continously nevertheless their genuine entanglement remains constant. Based on our numerical results, we conjecture that there is no evidence of time-invariant entanglement for quantum states of three qubits. We po…
The nonlocal properties of the W states are investigated under particle loss. By removing all but two particles from an $N$-qubit W state, the resulting two-qubit state is still entangled. Hence, the W state has high persistency of entanglement. We ask an analogous question regarding the persistency of nonlocality introduced in [Phys. Rev. A 86, 042113]. Namely, we inquire what is the minimal number of particles that must be removed from the W state so that the resulting state becomes local. We bound this value in function of $N$ qubits by considering Bell nonlocality tests with two alternativ…
We examine the possibilities of non-trivial phenomena of time-invariant entanglement and freezing dynamics of entanglement for qutrit-qutrit quantum systems. We find no evidence for time-invariant entanglement, however, we do observe that quantum states freeze their entanglement after decaying for some time. It is interesting that quantum states are changing whereas their entanglement remains constant. We find that the combined action of decoherence free subspaces and subspaces where quantum states decay, facilitate this phenomenon. This study is an extension of similar phenomena observed for …
We describe a direct method to experimentally determine local two-qubit invariants by performing interferometric measurements on multiple copies of a given two-qubit state. We use this framework to analyze two different kinds of two-qubit invariants of Makhlin and Jing et. al. These invariants allow to fully reconstruct any two-qubit state up to local unitaries. We demonstrate that measuring 3 invariants is sufficient to find, e.g., the optimal Bell inequality violation. These invariants can be measured with local or nonlocal measurements. We show that the nonlocal strategy that follows from M…
We analyze entanglement and nonlocal properties of the convex set of symmetric $N$-qubits states which are diagonal in the Dicke basis. First, we demonstrate that within this set, positivity of partial transposition (PPT) is necessary and sufficient for separability --- which has also been reported recently in https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevA.94.060101 {Phys. Rev. A \textbf{94}, 060101(R) (2016)}. Further, we show which states among the entangled DS are nonlocal under two-body Bell inequalities. The diagonal symmetric convex set contains a simple and extended family of states that violate the …
We study the nonlocality of arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum states. By computing the maximal violation of a set of multi-setting Bell inequalities, an analytical and computable lower bound has been derived for general two-qubit states. This bound gives the necessary condition that a two-qubit state admits no local hidden variable models. The lower bound is shown to be better than that from the CHSH inequality in judging the nonlocality of some quantum states. The results are generalized to the case of high dimensional quantum states, and a sufficient condition for detecting the non-loc…
Measurement-Induced NonLocality was introduced by Luo and Fu (Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{106}, 120401,(2011)) as a measure of nonlocality in a bipartite state. In this paper we will discuss monogamy property of measurement-induced nonlocality for some three- and four-qubit classes of states. Unlike discord, we find quite surprising results in this situation. Both the GHZ and W states satisfy monogamy relations in the three-qubit case, however, in general there are violations of monogamy relations in both the GHZ-class and W-class states. In case of four-qubit system, monogamy holds for most of t…
