It is a well known fact from the group theory that irreducible tensor representations of classical groups are suitably characterized by irreducible representations of the symmetric groups. However, due to their different nature, vector and spinor representations are only connected and not united in such description.
Clifford algebras are an ideal tool with which to describe symmetries of multi-particle systems since they contain spinor and vector representations within the same formalism, and, moreover, allow for a complete study of all classical Lie groups. In this work, together with an accompanying work also presented at this conference, an analysis of q-symmetry -- for generic q's -- based on the ordinary symmetric groups is given for the first time. We construct q-Young operators as Clifford idempotents and the Hecke algebra representations in ideals generated by these operators. Various relations as orthogonality of representations and completeness are given explicitly, and the symmetry types of representations is discussed. Appropriate q-Young diagrams and tableaux are given. The ordinary case of the symmetric group is obtained in the limit q \to 1. All in all, a toolkit for Clifford algebraic treatment of multi-particle systems is provided. The distinguishing feature of this paper is that the Young operators of conjugated Young diagrams are related by Clifford reversion, connecting Clifford algebra and Hecke algebra features. This contrasts the purely Hecke algebraic approach of King and Wybourne, who do not embed Hecke algebras into Clifford algebras.
We give a new construction of primitive idempotents of the Hecke algebras associated with the symmetric groups. The idempotents are found as evaluated products of certain rational functions thus providing a new version of the fusion procedure for the Hecke algebras. We show that the normalization factors which occur in the procedure are related to the Ocneanu--Markov trace of the idempotents.
Building on the work of P.N. Norton, we give combinatorial formulae for two maximal decompositions of the identity into orthogonal idempotents in the $0$-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group, $\mathbb{C}H_0(S_N)$. This construction is compatible with the branching from $S_{N-1}$ to $S_{N}$.
The notion of trigonometric spin double affine Hecke algebras (tsDaHa) and trigonometric double affine Hecke-Clifford algebras (tDaHCa) associated to classical Weyl groups are introduced. The PBW basis property is established. An algebra isomorphism relating tDaHCa to tsDaHa is obtained.
Associated to the classical Weyl groups, we introduce the notion of degenerate spin affine Hecke algebras and affine Hecke-Clifford algebras. For these algebras, we establish the PBW properties, formulate the intertwiners, and describe the centers. We further develop connections of these algebras with the usual degenerate (i.e. graded) affine Hecke algebras of Lusztig by introducing a notion of degenerate covering affine Hecke algebras.
We define and study an action of the symmetric group on the Yokonuma--Hecke algebra. This leads to the definition of two classes of algebras. The first one is connected with the image of the algebra of the braid group inside the Yokonuma--Hecke algebras, and in turn with an algebra defined by Aicardi and Juyumaya known as the algebra of braids and ties. The second one can be seen as new deformations of complex reflection groups of type G(d,p,n). We provide several presentations for both algebras and a complete study of their representation theories using Clifford theory.
The notion of rational spin double affine Hecke algebras (sDaHa) and rational double affine Hecke-Clifford algebras (DaHCa) associated to classical Weyl groups are introduced. The basic properties of these algebras such as the PBW basis and Dunkl operator representations are established. An algebra isomorphism relating the rational DaHCa to the rational sDaHa is obtained. We further develop a link between the usual rational Cherednik algebra and the rational sDaHa by introducing a notion of rational covering double affine Hecke algebras.
We introduce an odd double affine Hecke algebra (DaHa) generated by a classical Weyl group W and two skew-polynomial subalgebras of anticommuting generators. This algebra is shown to be Morita equivalent to another new DaHa which are generated by W and two polynomial-Clifford subalgebras. There is yet a third algebra containing a spin Weyl group algebra which is Morita (super)equivalent to the above two algebras. We establish the PBW properties and construct Verma-type representations via Dunkl operators for these algebras.
The Hecke algebra H_n contains well known idempotents E_λ which are indexed by Young diagrams with n cells. They were originally described by Gyoja. A skein theoretical description of E_λ was given by Aiston and Morton. The closure of E_λ becomes an element Q_λ of the skein of the annulus. In this skein, they are known to obey the same multiplication rule as the symmetric Schur functions s_λ. But previous proofs of this fact used results about quantum groups which were far beyond the scope of skein theory. Our elementary proof uses only skein theory and basic algebra.
We use a skein-theoretic version of the Hecke algebras of type A to present three-dimensional diagrammatic views of Gyoja's idempotent elements, based closely on the corresponding Young diagram. In this context we give straightforward calculations for the eigenvalues of two natural central elements in the Hecke algebras, namely the full curl and the sum of the Murphy operators. We discuss their calculation also in terms of the framing factor associated to the appropriate irreducible representation of the quantum group SU(N,q).
The spin analogues of several classical concepts and results for Hecke algebras are established. A Frobenius type formula is obtained for irreducible characters of the Hecke-Clifford algebra. A precise characterization of the trace functions allows us to define the character table for the algebra. The algebra is endowed with a canonical symmetrizing trace form, with respect to which the spin generic degrees are formulated and shown to coincide with the spin fake degrees. We further provide a characterization of the trace functions and the symmetrizing trace form on the spin Hecke algebra which…
Brundan and Kleshchev showed that some parts of the representation theory of the affine Hecke-Clifford superalgebras and its finite-dimensional "cyclotomic" quotients are controlled by the Lie theory of type $A^{(2)}_{2l}$ when the quantum parameter $q$ is a primitive $(2l+1)$-th root of unity. We show in this paper that similar theorems hold when $q$ is a primitive $4l$-th root of unity by replacing the Lie theory of type $A^{(2)}_{2l}$ with that of type $D^{(2)}_{l}$.
Clifford geometric algebras of multivectors are introduced which exhibit a bilinear form which is not necessarily symmetric. Looking at a subset of bi-vectors in CL(K^{2n},B), we proof that theses elements generate the Hecke algebra H_{K}(n+1,q) if the bilinear form B is chosen appropriately. This shows, that q-quantization can be generated by Clifford multivector objects which describe usually composite entities. This contrasts current approaches which give deformed versions of Clifford algebras by deforming the one-vector variables. Our example shows, that it is not evident from a mathematic…
The representation theory of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras as a degenerate case is not semisimple and also with rich combinatorial meaning. Bergeron et al. have proved that the Grothendieck ring of the category of finitely generated supermodules of 0-Hecke-Clifford algebras is isomorphic to the algebra of peak quasisymmetric functions defined by Stembridge. In this paper we further study the category of finitely generated projective supermodules and clarify the correspondence between it and the peak algebra of symmetric groups. In particular, two kinds of restriction rules for induced projective s…
We review some facts about the representation theory of the Hecke algebra. We adapt for the Hecke algebra case the approach of Okounkov and Vershik which was developed for the representation theory of symmetric groups. We justify an explicit construction of the idempotents in the Hecke algebra in terms of Jucys-Murphy elements. Ocneanu's traces for these idempotents (which can be interpreted as q-dimensions of corresponding irreducible representations of quantum linear groups) are presented.
We introduce a new family of superalgebras which should be considered as a super version of the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras. Let $I$ be the set of vertices of a Dynkin diagram with parity. To this data, we associate a family of graded superalgebras, the quiver Hecke superalgebras. When there are no odd vertices, these algebras are nothing but the usual Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras. We then define another family of graded superalgebras, the quiver Hecke-Clifford superalgebras, and show that they are weakly Morita superequivalent to the quiver Hecke superalgebras. Moreover, we prove tha…
Ian Grojnowski has developed a purely algebraic way to connect the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras at an (l+1)-th root of unity to the highest weight theory of the affine Kac-Moody algebra of type A_l^(1). The present article is devoted to extending Grojnowski's machinery to the twisted case: we replace the affine Hecke algebras with the affine Hecke-Clifford superalgebras of Jones and Nazarov, and the Kac-Moody algebra A_l^(1) with the twisted algebra A_2l^(2). In particular, we obtain an algebraic construction purely in terms of the representation theory of Hecke-Clifford supe…
In this short note, we construct quasi-idempotent Rota-Baxter operators by quasi-idempotent elements and show that every finite dimensional Hopf algebra admits nontrivial Rota-Baxter algebra structures and tridendriform algebra structures. Several concrete examples are provided, including finite quantum groups and Iwahori-Hecke algebras.
Inspired by the work [PA1], in this note, we prove that a complete set of pairwise orthogonal primitive idempotents of Yokonuma-Hecke algebras can be obtained by consecutive evaluations of a certain rational function.
It can be shown that it is possible to find a representation of Hecke algebras within Clifford algebras of multivectors. These Clifford algebras possess a unique gradation and a possibly non-symmetric bilinear form. Hecke algebra representations can be classified, for non-generic q, by Young tableaux of the symmetric group due to the isomorphy of the group algebras for q ->1. Since spinors can be constructed as elements of minimal left (right) ideals obtained by the left (right) action on primitive idempotents, we are able to construct q-spinors from q-Young operators corresponding to the appr…
We compute the weights, i.e. the values at the minimal idempotents, for the Markov trace on the Hecke algebra of type $B$ and type $D$. In order to prove the weight formula, we define representations of the Hecke algebra of type $B$ onto a reduced Hecke algebre of type $A$. To compute the weights for type $D$ we use the inclusion of the Hecke algebra of type $D$ into the Hecke algebra of type $B$.
A complete system of primitive pairwise orthogonal idempotents for cyclotomic Hecke algebras is constructed by consecutive evaluations of a rational function in several variables on quantum contents of multi-tableaux. This function is a product of two terms, one of which depends only on the shape of the multi-tableau and is proportional to the inverse of the corresponding Schur element.
This paper lays the groundwork for the theory of categorical diagonalization. Given a diagonalizable operator, tools in linear algebra (such as Lagrange interpolation) allow one to construct a collection of idempotents which project to each eigenspace. These idempotents are mutually orthogonal and sum to the identity. We categorify these tools. At the categorical level, one has not only eigenobjects and eigenvalues but also eigenmaps, which relate an endofunctor to its eigenvalues. Given an invertible endofunctor of a triangulated category with a sufficiently nice collection of eigenmaps, we c…
To each partition $\frak p$ of $n$ we associate in a canonical way a simple $S_n$ module with an orthogonal basis indexed by Young diagrams in a way which carries over immediately to the quantized case. With this we show that the Hecke algebra of $S_n$ is a global solution to the Donald--Flanigan problem for $S_n.$ The procedure gives ``canonical'' primitive idempotents different from the classical ones of Frobenius--Young and makes some number--theoretic statements.
We establish branching rules between some Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type B and their subalgebras which are defined as fixed subalgebras by involutions including Goldman involution. The Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type D is one of such fixed subalgebras. We also obtain branching rules between those fixed subalgebras and their intersection subalgebra. We determine basic sets of irreducible representations of those fixed subalgebras and their intersection subalgebra by making use of generalized Clifford theory.
We introduce the spin Hecke algebra, which is a q-deformation of the spin symmetric group algebra, and its affine generalization. We establish an algebra isomorphism which relates our spin (affine) Hecke algebras to the (affine) Hecke-Clifford algebras of Olshanski and Jones-Nazarov. Relation between the spin (affine) Hecke algebra and a nonstandard presentation of the usual (affine) Hecke algebra is displayed, and the notion of covering (affine) Hecke algebra is introduced to provide a link between these algebras. Various algebraic structures for the spin (affine) Hecke algebra are establishe…
We introduce a new class (in two versions) of rational double affine Hecke algebras (DaHa) associated to the spin symmetric group. We establish the basic properties of the algebras, such as PBW and Dunkl representation, and connections to Nazarov's degenerate affine Hecke-Clifford algebra and to a new degenerate affine Hecke algebra introduced here. We formulate a Morita equivalence between the two versions of rational DaHa's. The trigonometric generalization of the above constructions is also formulated and its relation to the rational counterpart is established.
As a natural generalization quantum Schur algebras associated with the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group, we introduce the quantum Schur superalgebra of type Q associated with the Hecke-Clifford superalgebra, which, by definition, is the endomorphism algebra of the induced module over the Hecke-Clifford superalgebra from certain permutation modules over the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group. We will describe certain integral bases for these superalgebras in terms of matrices and will establish the base change property for them. We will also identify the quantum Schur superalgebra of type…
One particular approach to quantum groups (matrix pseudo groups) provides the Manin quantum plane. Assuming an appropriate set of non-commuting variables spanning linearly a representation space one is able to show that the endomorphisms on that space preserving the non-commutative structure constitute a quantum group. The non-commutativity of these variables provide an example of non-commutative geometry. In some recent work we have shown that quantum Clifford algebras --i.e. Clifford algebras of an arbitrary bilinear form-- are closely related to deformed structures as q-spin groups, Hecke a…
In this paper, we explore the use of path idempotents for the Hecke algebra of type $A$ at roots of unity. For $q$ a primitive $\ell$-th root of unity we obain a non-unital imbedding of (a quotient of) the group algebra of $S_m$ into (a quotient of) the Hecke algebra $H_n(q)$ for certain $m$ and $n$. From this we recover certain instances of irreducibility criteria of Dipper, James, and Mathas, and we derive estimates on the decomposition numbers for the Hecke algebra at roots of unity. The bounds are easily computed, provide a good geometric picture of the pairs of diagrams $λ$, $μ$ for which…
A Hecke endomorphism algebra is a natural generalisation of the $q$-Schur algebra associated with the symmetric group to a Coxeter group. For Weyl groups, B. Parshall, L. Scott and the first author \cite{DPS,DPS4} investigated the stratification structure of these algebras in order to seek applications to representations of finite groups of Lie type. In this paper we investigate the presentation problem for Hecke endomorphism algebras associated with arbitrary Coxeter groups. Our approach is to present such algebras by quivers with relations. If $R$ is the localisation of $\mathbb Z[q]$ at the…
We explore combinatorics associated with the degenerate Hecke algebra at $q=0$, obtaining a formula for a system of orthogonal idempotents, and also exploring various pattern avoidance results. Generalizing constructions for the 0-Hecke algebra, we explore the representation theory of $\JJ$-trivial monoids. We then discuss two-tensors of crystal bases for $U_q(\tilde{\mathfrak{sl}_2})$, establishing a complementary result to one of Bandlow, Schilling, and Thiéry on affine crystals arising from promotion operators. Finally, we give a computer implementation of Stembridge's local axioms for simp…
Let $G$ be a finite group of Lie type. In studying the cross-characteristic representation theory of $G$, the (specialized) Hecke algebra $H=\End_G(\ind_B^G1_B)$ has played a important role. In particular, when $G=GL_n(\mathbb F_q)$ is a finite general linear group, this approach led to the Dipper-James theory of $q$-Schur algebras $A$. These algebras can be constructed over $\sZ:=\mathbb Z[t,t^{-1}]$ as the $q$-analog (with $q=t^2$) of an endomorphism algebra larger than $H$, involving parabolic subgroups. The algebra $A$ is quasi-hereditary over $\sZ$. An analogous algebra, still denoted $A$…
As a generalisation of Graham and Lehrer's cellular algebras, affine cellular algebras have been introduced in [12] in order to treat affine versions of diagram algebras like affine Hecke algebras of type A and affine Temperley-Lieb algebras in a unifying fashion. Affine cellular algebras include Kleshchev's graded quasihereditary algebras, KLR algebras and various other classes of algebras. In this paper we will study ring theoretical properties of affine cellular algebras. We show that any affine cellular algebra $A$ satisfies a polynomial identity. Furthermore, we show that $A$ can be embed…
We deal with the representation theory of quantum groups and Hecke algebras at roots of unity. We relate the philosophy of Andersen, Jantzen and Soergel on graded translated functors to the Lascoux, Leclerc and Thibon-algorithm. This goes via the Murphy standard basis theory and the idempotents coming from the Murphy-Jucys operators. Our results lead to a guess on a tilting algorithm outside the lowest $p^2$ alcove, which at least in the $SL_2$-case coincides with Erdmann's results.
When the parameter $q$ is a root of unity, the Temperley-Lieb algebra $TL_n(q)$ is non-semisimple for almost all $n$. Jones showed that there is a canonical symmetric bilinear form on $TL_n(q)$, whose radical $R_n(q)$ is generated by a certain idempotent $E_\ell\in TL_{\ell-1}(q)\subseteq TL_n(q)$, which is now referred to as the Jones-Wenzl idempotent, for which an explicit formula was subsequently given by Graham and Lehrer. In this work, we study the quotients $Q_n(\ell):=TL_n(q)/R_n(q)$, where $|q^2|=\ell$, which are precisely the algebras generated by Jones' projections. We give the dimen…
We study a $q$-deformation for the semi-direct product of the symmetric group $S_n$ with the Clifford algebra on $n$ anticommuting generators. We obtain a $q$-version of the projective analogue for the classical Young symmetrizer found by the second author [Adv. Math. 127(1997), 190-257]. Our main tool is an analogue of the Hecke algebra of complex valued functions on the group $GL_{n}$ over a $p$-adic field relative to the Iwahori subgroup.
