We present a direct construction of abstract generators for q-deformed W_N algebras. This procedure hinges upon a twisted trace formula for the elliptic algebra A_{q,p}(sl(N)_c) generalizing the previously known formulae for quantum groups.
We introduce a notion of Hopf-Lie-Rinehart algebra and show that the universal algebra of a Hopf-Lie-Rinehart algebra acquires an ordinary Hopf algebra structure.
We determine the corepresentation theory of universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, for generic matrices over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.
Recently Pascal Baseilhac and Stefan Kolb obtained a PBW basis for the $q$-Onsager algebra $\mathcal O_q$. They defined the PBW basis elements recursively, and it is obscure how to express them in closed form. To mitigate the difficulty, we bring in the universal Askey-Wilson algebra $Δ_q$. There is a natural algebra homomorphism $\natural \colon \mathcal O_q \to Δ_q$. We apply $\natural $ to the above PBW basis, and express the images in closed form. Our results make heavy use of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.
For quantized universal enveloping algebras we construct weight modules by inducing representations of the centralizer of the Cartan subalgebra in the quantized universal enveloping algebra. The induced modules arising from finite-dimensional weight modules the centralizer algebra are studied. In particular, we study the induction of one-dimensional modules, and this is related to the study of commutative subalgebras of the centralizer algebra. For the special case of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{C}))$ we show that we get the admissible unitary representations corresponding to the non-compact …
Lie-Rinehart algebras, also known as Lie algebroids, give rise to Hopf algebroids by a universal enveloping algebra construction, much as the universal enveloping algebra of an ordinary Lie algebra gives a Hopf algebra, of infinite dimension. In finite characteristic, the universal enveloping algebra of a restricted Lie algebra admits a quotient Hopf algebra which is finite-dimensional if the Lie algebra is. Rumynin has shown that suitably defined restricted Lie algebroids allow to define restricted universal enveloping algebras that are finitely generated projective if the Lie algebroid is. T…
We continue our investigation of the general notion of universal enveloping algebra introduced in [A. Ardizzoni, \emph{A Milnor-Moore Type Theorem for Primitively Generated Braided Bialgebras}, J. Algebra \textbf{327} (2011), no. 1, 337--365]. Namely we study when such an algebra is of PBW type, meaning that a suitable PBW type theorem holds. We discuss the problem of finding a basis for a universal enveloping algebra of PBW type: As an application we recover the PBW basis both of an ordinary universal enveloping algebra and of a restricted enveloping algebra. We prove that a universal envelop…
We introduce the notion of Lie algebras with plus-minus pairs as well as regular plus-minus pairs. These notions deal with certain factorizations in universal enveloping algebras. We show that many important Lie algebras have such pairs and we classify, and give a full treatment of, the three dimensional Lie algebras with plus-minus pairs.
Let $k$ be an arbitrary field of characteristic $0$. It is shown that for any $n\geq 1$ the universal enveloping algebras of the Poisson symplectic algebra $P_n(k)$ and the Weyl algebra $A_n(k)$ are isomorphic and the canonical isomorphism between them easily leads to the Moyal product. A basis of the universal enveloping algebra $P^e$ of a free Poisson algebra $P=k\{x_1,...,x_n\}$ is constructed and proved that the left dependency of a finite number of elements of $P^e$ over $P^e$ is algorithmically recognizable. We prove that if two elements of a free Poisson algebra do not generate a free t…
Holonomy R-matrices parametrized by finite-dimensional representations are constructed for quantized universal enveloping algebras of simple Lie algebras at roots of 1.
We construct a universal deformation formula for Connes-Moscovici's Hopf algebra without any projective structure using Fedosov's quantization of symplectic diffeomorphisms.
We extend the universal differential calculus on an arbitrary Hopf algebra to a ``universal Cartan calculus''. This is accomplished by introducing inner derivations and Lie derivatives which act on the elements of the universal differential envelope. A new algebra is formulated by incorporating these new objects into the universal differential calculus together with consistent commutation relations. We also explain how to include nontrivial commutation relations into this formulation to obtain the ``generalized Cartan calculus''.
Lie conformal algebras are useful tools for studying vertex operator algebras and their representations. In this paper, we establish close relations between Poisson conformal algebras and representations of Lie conformal algebras. We also calculate explicitly Poisson conformal brackets on the associated graded conformal algebras of universal associative conformal envelopes of Virasoro conformal algebra and Neveu--Schwartz conformal superalgebra.
A Hom-type algebra is called involutive if its Hom map is multiplicative and involutive. In this paper, we obtain an explicit construction of the free involutive Hom-associative algebra on a Hom-module. We then apply this construction to obtain the universal enveloping algebra of an involutive Hom-Lie algebra. Finally we obtain a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem for the enveloping associative algebra of an involutive Hom-Lie algebra.
After recalling the definitions and the properties of the generic base algebra and of the universal comodule algebra attached to a Hopf algebra by Aljadeff and the second-named author, we determine these algebras for the Taft algebras, the Hopf algebras E(n), and certain monomial Hopf algebras.
Using a geometrical approach to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, the quantum algebra ${\cal U}_{\hbar}(sl_{2})$ and its universal quantum $R$-matrix are explicitely constructed as functionals of the associated classical $r$-matrix. In this framework, the quantum algebra ${\cal U}_{\hbar}(sl_{2})$ is naturally imbedded in the universal envelopping algebra of the $sl_{2}$ current algebra.
We obtain a presentation of quantum Schur algebras (over the field Q(v)) by generators and relations. This presentation is compatible with the usual presentation of the quantized universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra gl(2). We also locate the ``integral'' form of the quantum Schur algebra within the presented algebra and show it has a basis which is closely related to Lusztig's basis of the integral form of the quantized enveloping algebra.
We describe an explicit finite presentation for a finite depth subfactor planar algebra. We also show that such planar algebras are singly generated with the generator subject to finitely many relations.
Universal measuring coalgebras provide an enrichment of the category of algebras over the category of coalgebras. By considering the special case of the tensor algebra on a vector space V, the category of linear spaces itself becomes enriched over coalgebras, and the universal measuring coalgebra is the dual coalgebra of the tensor algebra T(V tensor V*). Given a braiding R on V the universal measuring coalgebra P_R(V) which preserves the grading is naturally dual to the Fadeev-Takhtadjhan-Reshitikin bialgebra A(R) and therefore provides a representation of the quantized universal enveloping a…
The universal R-matrices and, dually, the coquasitriangular structures of the group Hopf algebra of a finite Abelian group (resp. of an arbitrary Abelian group) are determined. This is used to formulate graded multilinear algebra in terms of triangular or cotriangular Hopf algebras. For the convenience of the reader, in a separate section the definitions and basic properties of quasitriangular and coquasitriangular Hopf algebras are recalled.
In this paper a new quasi-triangular Hopf algebra as the quantum double of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is presented. Its universal R-matrix is built and the corresponding representation theory are studied with the explict construction for the representations of this quantum double. \newpage
We introduce the analogue of Manin's universal coacting (bialgebra) Hopf algebra for Poisson algebras. First, for two given Poisson algebras $P$ and $U$, where $U$ is finite dimensional, we construct a Poisson algebra $\mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ together with a Poisson algebra homomorphism $ψ_{\mathcal{B}(P,\,U)} \colon P \to U \otimes \mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ satisfying a suitable universal property. $\mathcal{B}(P,\, U)$ is shown to admit a Poisson bialgebra structure for any pair of Poisson algebra homomorphisms subject to certain compatibility conditions. If $P=U$ is a finite dimensional Poisson alg…
Differential calculi of Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt type on universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras g are defined. This definition turns out to be independent of the basis chosen in g. The role of automorphisms of g is explained. It is proved that no differential calculus of Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt type exists on semi-simple Lie algebras. Examples are given, namely gl_n, Abelian Lie algebras, the Heisenberg algebra, the Witt and the Virasoro algebra. Completely treated are the 2-dimensional solvable Lie algebra, and the 3-dimensional Heisenberg algebra.
We extend the notion of dually conjugate Hopf (super)algebras to the coloured Hopf (super)algebras ${\cal H}^c$ that we recently introduced. We show that if the standard Hopf (super)algebras ${\cal H}_q$ that are the building blocks of ${\cal H}^c$ have Hopf duals ${\cal H}_q^*$, then the latter may be used to construct coloured Hopf duals ${\cal H}^{c*}$, endowed with coloured algebra and antipode maps, but with a standard coalgebraic structure. Next, we review the case where the ${\cal H}_q$'s are quantum universal enveloping algebras of Lie (super)algebras $U_q(g)$, so that the correspondin…
We introduce the concept of a universal quantum linear semigroupoid (UQSGd), which is a weak bialgebra that coacts on a (not necessarily connected) graded algebra $A$ universally while preserving grading. We restrict our attention to algebraic structures with a commutative base so that the UQSGds under investigation are face algebras (due to Hayashi). The UQSGd construction generalizes the universal quantum linear semigroups introduced by Manin in 1988, which are bialgebras that coact on a connected graded algebra universally while preserving grading. Our main result is that when $A$ is the pa…
We review the extent to which the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie-Rinehart algebra resembles a Hopf algebra, and refer to this structure as a Rinehart bialgebra. We then prove a Cartier-Milnor-Moore type theorem for such Rinehart bialgebras.
Rota-Baxter associative algebras and Rota-Baxter Lie algebras are both important in mathematics and mathematical physics, with the former a basic structure in quantum field renormalization and the latter a operator form of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. An outstanding problem posed by Gubarev is to determine whether there is a Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem for the universal enveloping Rota-Baxter associative algebra of a Rota-Baxter Lie algebra. This paper resolves this problem positively, working with operated algebras and applying the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases.
We recall the definition of $q$-differential algebras and discuss some representative examples. In particular we construct the $q$-analog of the Hochschild coboundary. We then construct the universal $q$-differential envelope of a unital associative algebra and study its properties. The paper also contains general results on $d^N=0$.
Explicit formulas of the universal $R$-matrix are given for all quantized nontwisted rank 3 affine Lie algebras $U_q(A_2^{(1)})\,,~U_q(C_2^{(1)})$ and $U_q(G_2^{(1)})$.
General concept of ternary algebras is introduced in this article, along with several examples of its realization. Universal envelope of such algebras is defined, as well as the concept of tri-modules over ternary algebras. The universal differential calculus on these structures is then defined and its basic properties investigated.
We compute the Hochschild and Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomological dimensions of the universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, when the matrix of parameters is a generic asymmetry. Our main tools are considerations on the cohomologies of free product of Hopf algebras, and on the invariance of the cohomological dimensions under graded twisting by a finite abelian group.
We study using combinatorial methods the structural coefficients of the formal homogeneous universal enveloping algebra Uh(sl2) of the special linear algebra sl2 over a field of characteristic zero. We provide explicit formulae for the product of generic elements in Uh(sl2), and construct combinatorial objects giving flesh to these formulae.

We compute an universal weight function (off-shell Bethe vectors) in any representation with a weight singular vector of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N)$ applying the method of projections of Drinfeld currents developed in arXiv:math/0610398.
