We determine the corepresentation theory of universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, for generic matrices over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.
We compute the Hochschild and Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomological dimensions of the universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, when the matrix of parameters is a generic asymmetry. Our main tools are considerations on the cohomologies of free product of Hopf algebras, and on the invariance of the cohomological dimensions under graded twisting by a finite abelian group.
We present explicit examples finite tensor categories that are C_2-graded extensions of the corepresentation category of certain finite-dimensional non-semisimple Hopf algebras.
We consider Frobenius algebras in the monoidal category of right comodules over a Hopf algebra $H$. If $H$ is a group Hopf algebra, we study a more general Frobenius type property and uncover the structure of graded Frobenius algebras. Graded symmetric algebras are also investigated.
We introduce the notion of a partial corepresentation of a given Hopf algebra $H$ over a coalgebra $C$ and the closely related concept of a partial $H$-comodule. We prove that there exists a universal coalgebra $H^{par}$, associated to the original Hopf algebra $H$, such that the category of regular partial $H$-comodules is isomorphic to the category of $H^{par}$-comodules. We introduce the notion of a Hopf coalgebroid and show that the universal coalgebra $H^{par}$ has the structure of a Hopf coalgebroid over a suitable coalgebra.
We classify the cosemisimple Hopf algebras whose corepresentation semi-ring is isomorphic to that of GL(2). This leads us to define a new family of Hopf algebras which generalize the quantum similitude group of a non-degenerate bilinear form. A detailed study of these Hopf algebras gives us an isomorphic classification and the description of their corepresentation categories.
We discuss some axioms that ensure that a Hopf algebra has its simple comodules classified using an analogue of the Borel-Weil construction. More precisely we show that a Hopf algebra having a dense big cell satisfies the above requirement. This method has its roots in the work of Parshall and Wang in the case of q-deformed quantum groups GL and SL. Here we examine the example of universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, for which the weight group is the free group on two generators.
We show that the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra appears as a quotient of $C(SU_{-1}(2))$, which means that the corresponding quantum group $G_{KP}$ can be regarded as a quantum subgroup of $SU_{-1}(2)$. We combine the fact that corepresentation category of the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra is a Tambara-Yamagami tensor category associated with the Krein 4-group and the method of graded twisting of Hopf algebras, to construct the Hopf *-homomorphism.
We determine the Grothendieck ring of finite-dimensional comodules for the free Hopf algebra on a matrix coalgebra, and similarly for the free Hopf algebra with bijective antipode and other related universal quantum groups. The results turn out to be parallel to those for Wang and Van Daele's deformed universal compact quantum groups and Bichon's generalization of those results to universal cosovereign Hopf algebras: in all cases the rings are isomorphic to those of non-commutative polynomials over certain sets, these sets varying from case to case. In most cases we are able to give more preci…
In this dissertation we study the coefficients spaces (SAYD modules) of Hopf-cyclic cohomology theory over a certain family of bicrossed product Hopf algebras, and we compute the Hopf-cyclic cohomology of such Hopf algebras with coefficients. We associate a Hopf algebra, what we call a Lie-Hopf algebra, to any matched pair of Lie groups, Lie algebras and affine algebraic groups via the semi-dualization procedure of Majid. We then identify the SAYD modules over Lie-Hopf algebras with the representations and corepresentations of the total Lie group, Lie algebra or the affine algebraic group of t…
By a theorem of Majid, every monoidal category with a neutral quasi-monoidal functor to finitely-generated and projective $\Bbbk$-modules gives rise to a coquasi-bialgebra. We prove that if the category is also rigid, then the associated coquasi-bialgebra admits a preantipode, providing in this way an analogue for coquasi-bialgebras of Ulbrich's reconstruction theorem for Hopf algebras. When $\Bbbk$ is field, this allows us to characterize coquasi-Hopf algebras as well in terms of rigidity of finite-dimensional corepresentations.
We determine the structure of Hopf algebra extensions of a group algebra by the cyclic group of order 2. We study the corepresentation theory of such Hopf algebras, which provide a generalization, at the Hopf algebra level, of the so called Tambara-Yamagami fusion categories. As a byproduct, we show that every semisimple Hopf algebra of dimension $<36$ is necessarily group-theoretical; thus 36 is the smallest possible dimension where a non group-theoretical example occurs.
A general Mackey type decomposition for representations of semisimple Hopf algebras is investigated. We show that such a decomposition occurs in the case that the module is induced from an arbitrary Hopf subalgebra and it is restricted back to a group subalgebra. Some other examples when such a decomposition occurs are also constructed. They arise from gradings on the category of corepresentations of a semisimple Hopf algebra and provide new examples of Green functors in the literature.
A half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra is a Hopf *-algebra generated by the self-adjoint coefficients of an orthogonal matrix corepresentation $v=(v_{ij})$ that half commute in the sense that $abc=cba$ for any $a,b,c \in \{v_{ij}\}$. The first non-trivial such Hopf algebras were discovered by Banica and Speicher. We propose a general procedure, based on a crossed product construction, that associates to a self-transpose compact subgroup $G \subset U_n$ a half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra $\mathcal A_*(G)$. It is shown that any half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra arises in this …
To any Hopf algebra H we associate two commutative Hopf algebras, which we call the first and second lazy homology Hopf algebras of H. These algebras are related to the lazy cohomology groups based on the so-called lazy cocycles of H by universal coefficient theorems. When H is a group algebra, then its lazy homology can be expressed in terms of the 1- and 2-homology of the group. When H is a cosemisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, then its first lazy homology is the Hopf algebra of the universal abelian grading group of the category of corepresenta…
A strict 2-group is a 2-category with one object in which all morphisms and all 2-morphisms have inverses. 2-Groups have been studied in the context of homotopy theory, higher gauge theory and Topological Quantum Field Theory (TQFT). In the present article, we develop the notions of trialgebra and cotrialgebra, generalizations of Hopf algebras with two multiplications and one comultiplication or vice versa, and the notion of Hopf categories, generalizations of monoidal categories with an additional functorial comultiplication. We show that each strict 2-group has a `group algebra' which is a c…
If H is a Hopf algebra whose square of the antipode is the identity, $v\inł(V)\otimes H$ is a corepresentation, and $π:H\toł(W)$ is a representation, then $u=(id\otimesπ)v$ satisfies the equation $(t\otimes id)u^{-1}=((t\otimes id)u)^{-1}$ of the vertex models for subfactors. A universal construction shows that any solution $u$ of this equatio n arises in this way. A more elaborate construction shows that there exists a ``minimal'' triple $(H,v,π)$ satisfying $(id\otimesπ)v=u$. This paper is devoted to the study of this latter construction of Hopf algebras. If $u$ is unitary we construct a $\c…
We consider "Hopfological" techniques as in \cite{Ko} but for infinite dimensional Hopf algebras, under the assumption of being co-Frobenius. In particular, $H=k[{\mathbb Z}]\#k[x]/x^2$ is the first example, whose corepresentations category is d.g. vector spaces. Motivated by this example we define the "Homology functor" (we prove it is homological) for any co-Frobenius algebra, with coefficients in $H$-comodules, that recover usual homology of a complex when $H=k[{\mathbb Z}]\#k[x]/x^2$. Another easy example of co-Frobenius Hopf algebra gives the category of "mixed complexes" and we see (by c…
A condition is identified which guarantees that the coinvariants of a coaction of a Hopf algebra on an algebra form a subalgebra, even though the coaction may fail to be an algebra homomorphism. A Hilbert Theorem (finite generation of the subalgebra of coinvariants) is obtained for such coactions of a cosemisimple Hopf algebra. This is applied to two adjoint coactions of quantized function algebras of classical groups on the associated FRT bialgebra. Provided that the Hopf algebra is cosemisimple and coquasitriangular, the algebras of coinvariants form two finitely generated, commutative, grad…
For transcendental values of $q$ all bicovariant first order differential calculi on the coordinate Hopf algebras of the quantum groups $SL_q(n+1)$ and $Sp_q(2n)$ are classified. It is shown that the irreducible bicovariant first order calculi are determined by an irreducible corepresentation of the quantum group and a complex number $ζ$ such that $ζ^{n+1}=1$ for $SL_q(n+1)$ and $ζ^2=1$ for $Sp_q(2n)$. Any bicovariant calculus is inner and its quantum Lie algebra is generated by a central element. The main technical ingredient is a result of the Hopf algebra $R(G_q)^0$ for arbitrary simple Lie…
