Let $u:A\to B$ be a bounded linear operator between two $C^*$-algebras $A,B$. The following result was proved by the second author.
Theorem 0.1. There is a numerical constant $K_1$ such that for all finite sequences $x_1,\ldots, x_n$ in $A$ we have $$\leqalignno{&\max\left\{\left\|\left(\sum u(x_i)^* u(x_i)\right)^{1/2}\right\|_B, \left\|\left(\sum u(x_i) u(x_i)^*\right)^{1/2}\right\|_B\right\}&(0.1)_1\cr \le &K_1\|u\| \max\left\{\left\|\left(\sum x^*_ix_i\right)^{1/2}\right\|_A, \left\|\left(\sum x_ix^*_i\right)^{1/2}\right\|_A\right\}.}$$
A simpler proof was given in [H1]. More recently an other alternate proof appeared in [LPP]. In this paper we give a sequence of generalizations of this inequality.
In this paper, we introduce statistical bounded set on topological vector space. Also, we consider three classes of bounded operators from topological vector spaces to ordered topological vector spaces. Moreover, we give relations between them and order bounded operators. We give algebraic properties of these operators concerning to the uniform convergence topology.
If $T$ is a Kreiss bounded operator on a Banach space, then $\|T^n\|=O(n)$. Forty years ago Shields conjectured that in Hilbert spaces, $\|T^n\| = O(\sqrt{n})$. A negative answer to this conjecture was given by Spijker, Tracogna and Welfert in 2003. We improve their result and show that this conjecture is not true even for uniformly Kreiss bounded operators. More precisely, for every $\varepsilon>0$ there exists a uniformly Kreiss bounded operator $T$ on a Hilbert space such that $\|T^n\|\sim (n+1)^{1-\varepsilon}$ for all $n\in \Bbb N$. On the other hand, any Kreiss bounded operator on Hilber…
We study the weighted composition operators between the Lipschitz space and the space of bounded functions on the set of vertices of an infinite tree. We characterized the boundedness, the compactness, and the boundedness from below of weighted composition operators. We also determine the isometric weighted composition operators.
For a Banach algebra A and a closed ideal I, the notion of bounded approximate diagonal modulo I has been studied and investigated. In this paper we define the notion of locally bounded approximate diagonal modulo an ideal I for a Frechet algebra A and obtain the relation between amenability modulo an ideal I and the existence of locally bounded approximate diagonals modulo I.
We study the bounded and the compact weighted composition operators from the Bloch space into the weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions on bounded homogeneous domains, with particular attention to the unit polydisk. For bounded homogeneous domains, we characterize the bounded weighted composition operators and determine the operator norm. In addition, we provide sufficient conditions for compactness. For the unit polydisk, we completely characterize the compact weighted composition operators, as well as provide computable estimates on the operator norm.
In this paper, we characterize the multiple operator integrals mappings which are bounded on the Haagerup tensor product of spaces of compact operators. We show that such maps are automatically completely bounded and prove that this is equivalent to a certain factorization property of the symbol associated to the operator integral mapping. This generalizes a result by Juschenko-Todorov-Turowska on the boundedness of continuous multilinear Schur multipliers.
In this article, we introduce the Lipschitz bounded approximation property for operator ideals. With this notion, we extend the original work done by Godefroy and Kalton and give some partial answers on the equivalence between the bounded approximation property and the Lipschitz bounded approximation property based on an arbitrary operator ideal. Furthermore, we investigate the three space problems on the preceding bounded approximation properties.
Let $D$ be a bounded homogeneous domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$. In this paper, we study the bounded and the compact weighted composition operators mapping the Hardy space $H^\infty(D)$ into the Bloch space of $D$. We characterize the bounded weighted composition operators, provide operator norm estimates, and give sufficient conditions for compactness. We prove that these conditions are necessary in the case of the unit ball and the polydisk. We then show that if $D$ is a bounded symmetric domain, the bounded multiplication operators from $H^\infty(D)$ to the Bloch space of $D$ are the operators wh…
In this paper, we study the multiplication operators on the Bloch space of a bounded homogeneous domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$. Specifically, we characterize the bounded and the compact multiplication operators, establish estimates on the operator norm, and determine the spectrum. We prove that the only bounded multiplication operators on the Bloch space of the polydisk are those whose symbol is constant. Furthermore, we prove that for a large class of bounded symmetric domains, the isometric multiplication operators are those whose symbol is a constant of modulus one.
Let $\mathcal D$ be a Schauder decomposition on some Banach space $X$. We prove that if $\mathcal D$ is not $R$-Schauder, then there exists a Ritt operator $T\in B(X)$ which is a multiplier with respect to $\mathcal D$, such that the set $\{T^n\, :\, n\geq 0\}$ is not $R$-bounded. Likewise we prove that there exists a bounded sectorial operator $A$ of type $0$ on $X$ which is a multiplier with respect to $\mathcal D$, such that the set $\{e^{-tA}\, : \, t\geq 0\}$ is not $R$-bounded.
Generalization of functions of bounded mean oscillation and Hankel operators to the case of compact abelian groups with linearly ordered dual is considered. Spaces of functions of bounded mean oscillation and of bounded mean oscillation of analytic type on such groups are described in terms of boundedness of corresponding Hankel operators under the assumption that the dual group contains a minimal positive element.
We study the Spectral Analysis for a class of bounded linear operators T = D + F in a non Archimedean Hilbert space E, where D is a diagonal linear operator and where F is a finite rank linear operator. In this study of the Spectral Analysis, we use extensively the Theory of Fredholm Operators to deduce some of our main results.
We study Birkhoff-James orthogonality and isosceles orthogonality of bounded linear operators between Hilbert spaces and Banach spaces. We explore Birkhoff-James orthogonality of bounded linear operators in light of a new notion introduced by us and also discuss some of the possible applications in this regard. We also study isosceles orthogonality of bounded (positive) linear operators on a Hilbert space and some of the related properties, including that of operators having disjoint support. We further explore the relations between Birkhoff-James orthogonality and isosceles orthogonality in a…
Several spectral radii formulas for infinite bounded nonnegative matrices in max algebra are obtained. We also prove some Perron-Frobenius type results for such matrices. In particular, we obtain results on block triangular forms, which are similar to results on Frobenius normal form of $n \times n$ matrices. Some continuity results are also established.
We characterize the solutions of the Poisson equation and the domain of its associated one-sided Hilbert transform for Cesàro bounded operators of fractional order. The results obtained fairly generalize the corresponding ones for power-bounded operators. In passing, we give an extension of the mean ergodic theorem. Examples are given to illustrate the theory.
We completely characterize the Crawford number attainment set and the numerical radius attainment set of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space. We study the intersection properties of the corresponding attainment sets of numerical radius, Crawford number, norm, minimum norm of a bounded linear operator defined on a normed space. Our study illustrates the similarities and the differences of the extremal properties of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space and a general normed space.
In this article we study bounded operators $T$ on Banach space $X$ which satisfy the discrete Gomilko Shi-Feng condition $$\int_{0}^{2π}|\langle R(re^{it},T)^{2}x,x^*\rangle |dt \leq \frac{C}{(r^2-1)}\norme{x}\norme{x^*},\quad r>1, x\in X, x^* \in X^*. $$ We show that it is equivalent to a certain derivative bounded functional calculus and also to a bounded functional calculus relative to Besov space. Also on Hilbert space discrete Gomilko Shi-Feng condition is equivalent to power-boundedness. Finally we discuss the last equivalence on general Banach space involving the concept of $γ$-boundedn…
We analyze the ergodic properties of power-bounded operators on a reflexive Banach space of the form "scalar plus compact-power", and show that they are almost periodic (all the orbits are conditionally compact). If such an operator is weakly mixing, then it is stable (its powers converge in the strong operator topology).Let X-ISP be the separable reflexive indecomposable Banach space constructed by Argyros and Motakis, in which every operator has an invariant subspace. We conclude that every power-bounded operator on a closed subspace of X-ISP is almost periodic.
Well-bounded operators are linear operators on a Banach space $X$ that have an $AC[a,b]$ functional calculus for some interval $[a,b]$. A well-bounded operator is of type (B) if it can be written as an integral against a spectral family of projections, and this is always the case when $X$ is reflexive. There are many examples of well-bounded operators on non-reflexive spaces that are not of type (B), and it is open whether there is a non-reflexive Banach space upon which every well-bounded operator is of type (B). The spaces constructed by Pisier, which answered a conjecture of Grothendieck in…
We characterize completely bounded normal Jordan $*$-homomorphisms acting on von Neumann algebras. We also characterize completely positive isometries acting on noncommutative $\mathrm{L}^p$-spaces.
The convex body maximal operator is a natural generalisation of the Hardy Littlewood maximal operator. In the presence of a matrix weight it is not bounded.
