In this paper we present some spectral property for quotient bounded operators and locally bounded operators on locally convex spaces. We introduce the spectral radius of a quotient bounded operator and we show that the Gelfand formula for spectral radius and Newmann series have the same properties like in Banach spaces. Moreover, the geometrical radius of the spectrum is equal with the spectral radius. Using definitions of V.Troitsky we prove that the spectral set of a quotient bounded operator is compact set.
In a topological Riesz space there are two types of bounded subsets: order bounded subsets and topologically bounded subsets. It is natural to ask (1) whether an order bounded subset is topologically bounded and (2) whether a topologically bounded subset is order bounded. A classical result gives a partial answer to (1) by saying that an order bounded subset of a locally solid Riesz space is topologically bounded. This paper attempts to further investigate these two questions. In particular, we show that (i) there exists a non-locally solid topological Riesz space in which every order bounded …
Let $X$ be a vector lattice and $(E,τ)$ be a locally solid vector lattice. An operator $T:X\to E$ is said to be $ob$-bounded if, for each order bounded set $B$ in $X$, $T(B)$ is topologically bounded in $E$. In this paper, we study on algebraic properties of $ob$-bounded operators with respect to the topology of uniform convergence and equicontinuous convergence.
For a Banach algebra A and a closed ideal I, the notion of bounded approximate diagonal modulo I has been studied and investigated. In this paper we define the notion of locally bounded approximate diagonal modulo an ideal I for a Frechet algebra A and obtain the relation between amenability modulo an ideal I and the existence of locally bounded approximate diagonals modulo I.
The main aim of the present note is to consider bounded orthomorphisms between locally solid vector lattices. We establish a version of the remarkable Zannen theorem regarding equivalence between orthomomorphisms and the underlying vector lattice to the case of all bounded orthomomorphisms. Furthermore, we investigate topological and ordered structures for these classes of orthomorphisms, as well.
Results of Liflyand and collaborators on the boundedness of Hausdorff operators on the Hardy space $H^1$ over finite-dimensional real space generalized to the case of locally compact groups that are spaces of homogeneous type. Special cases and examples of compact Lie groups, homogeneous groups (in particular the Heisenberg group) and finite-dimensional spaces over division rings are considered.
Suppose $X$ is a locally solid vector lattice. In this paper, we introduce the notion "$AM$-property" in $X$ as an extension for $AM$-spaces in the category of all Banach lattices. With the aid of this concept, we characterize spaces in which bounded sets and order bounded sets agree. This, in turn, characterizes conditions under which each class of bounded operators on $X$ is order bounded and vice versa. Also, we show that under some natural assumptions, different types of bounded order bounded operators on $X$ have the Lebesgue or Levi property if and only if so is $X$.
Let A be a locally m-convex Fréchet algebra. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a cyclic Fréchet A-module X=A_+/I to be strictly flat, generalizing thereby a criterion of Helemskii and Sheinberg. To this end, we introduce a notion of locally bounded approximate identity (a.i.), and we show that X is strictly flat if and only if the ideal I has a right locally bounded a.i. An example is given of a commutative locally m-convex Fréchet algebra that has a locally bounded a.i., but does not have a bounded a.i. On the other hand, we show that a quasinormable locally m-convex Fréchet al…
A linear operator $T$ between two lattice-normed locally solid Riesz spaces is said to be $p_τ$-continuous if, for any $p_τ$-null net $(x_α)$, the net $(Tx_α)$ is $p_τ$-null, and $T$ is also said to be $p_τ$-bounded operator if it sends $p_τ$-bounded subsets to $p_τ$-bounded subsets. They are generalize several known classes of operators such as continuous, order continuous, $p$-continuous, order bounded, $p$-bounded operators, etc. We also study $up_τ$-continuous operators between lattice-normed locally solids Riesz spaces.
A linear operator $T$ between two vector lattices normed by locally solid Riesz spaces is said to be $p_τ$-continuous if, for any $p_τ$-null net $(x_α)$, the net $(Tx_α)$ is $p_τ$-null, and $T$ is said to be $p_τ$-bounded operator if it sends $p_τ$-bounded subsets to $p_τ$-bounded subsets. Also, $T$ is called $p_τ$-compact if, for any $p_τ$-bounded net $(x_α)$, the net $(Tx_α)$ has a $p_τ$-convergent subnet. They generalize several known classes of operators such as norm continuous, order continuous, $p$-continuous, order bounded, $p$-bounded, compact and AM-compact operators. We study the gen…
Motivated by the recent definition of $AM$-property in locally solid vector lattices [O. Zabeti, arXiv: 1912.00141v2 [math.FA]], in this note, we try to investigate those results in the category of all locally solid lattice rings. In fact, we characterize locally solid lattice rings in which order bounded sets and bounded sets agree. Furthermore, with the aid of $AM$-property, we find conditions under that, order bounded group homomorphisms and different types of bounded group homomorphisms coincide. Moreover, we show that each class of bounded order bounded group homomorphisms on a locally so…
Let $G$ be a locally compact abelian topological group. For locally bounded measurable functions $φ: G\to\Bbb {C}$ we discuss notions of spectra for $φ$ relative to subalgebras of $L^{1}(G)$. In particular we study polynomials on $G$ and determine their spectra. We also characterize the primary ideals of certain Beurling algebras $L_{w}^{1}(\Bbb Z)$ on the group of integers $\Bbb Z$. This allows us to classify those elements of $L_{w}^{1}(G)$ that have finite spectrum. If $φ$ is a uniformly continuous function whose differences are bounded, there is a Beurling algebra naturally associated with…
We devise a fairly general method for estimating the size of quotients between algebras of functions on a locally compact group. This method is based on the concept of interpolation sets and unifies the approaches followed by many authors to obtain particular cases. Among the applications we find, we obtain that the quotients WAP(G)/B(G) (G being a locally compact group in the class [IN] or a nilpotent locally compact group) and CB(G)/LUC(G) (G being any non-compact non-discrete locally compact group) contain a linearly isometric copy of \ell_\infty(κ(G)) where κ(G) is the compact covering num…
Let E be a locally solid vector lattice. In this paper, we consider two particular vector subspaces of the space of all order bounded operators on E. With the aid of two appropriate topologies, we show that under some conditions, they establish both, locally solid vector lattices and topologically complete topological algebras.
It has been established by Inoue that a complex locally C*-algebra with a dense ideal posesses a bounded approximate identity which belonges to that ideal. It has been shown by Fritzsche that if a unital complex locally C*-algebra has an unbounded element then it also has a dense one-sided ideal. In the present paper we obtain analogues of the aforementioned results of Inoue and Fritzsche for real locally C*-algebras (projective limits of projective families of real C*-algebras), and for locally JB-algebras (projective limits of projective families of JB-algebras).
Suppose $X$ is a locally solid vector lattice. It is known that there are several non-equivalent spaces of bounded operators on $X$. In this paper, we consider some situations under which these classes of bounded operators form locally solid vector lattices. In addition, we generalize some notions of $uaw$-Dunford-Pettis operators and $uaw$-compact operators defined on a Banach lattice to general theme of locally solid vector lattices. With the aid of appropriate topologies, we investigate some relations between topological and lattice structures of these operators. In particular, we character…
Suppose $X$ is a locally solid lattice ring. It is known that there are three classes of bounded group homomorphisms on $X$ whose topological structures make them again topological rings. In this note, we consider lattice structure on them; more precisely, we show that, under some mild assumptions, they are locally solid lattice rings.
In this work we prove that if $X$ is a complete locally convex space and $f:X\to \mathbb{R}\cup \{+\infty \}$ is a function such that $f-x^\ast$ attains its minimum for every $x^\ast \in U$, where $U$ is an open set with respect to the Mackey topology in $X^\ast$, then for every $γ\in \mathbb{R}$ and $x^\ast \in U$ the set $\{ x\in X : f(x)- \langle x^\ast , x \rangle \leq γ\}$ is relatively weakly compact. This result corresponds to an extension of Theorem 2.4 in [J. Saint Raymond, Mediterr. J. Math. 10 (2013), no. 2, 927--940]. Directional James compactness theorems are also derived.
We consider Fourier transform of vector-valued functions on a locally compact group $G$, which take value in a Banach space $X$, and are square-integrable in Bochner sense. If $G$ is a finite group then Fourier transform is a bounded operator. If $G$ is an infinite group then Fourier transform $F: L_2(G,X)\to L_2(\widehat G,X)$ is a bounded operator if and only if Banach space $X$ is isomorphic to a Hilbert one.
Let $C$ be a convex subset of a locally convex space. We provide optimal approximate fixed point results for sequentially continuous maps $f\colon C\to\bar{C}$. First we prove that if $f(C)$ is totally bounded, then it has an approximate fixed point net. Next, it is shown that if $C$ is bounded but not totally bounded, then there is a uniformly continuous map $f\colon C\to C$ without approximate fixed point nets. We also exhibit an example of a sequentially continuous map defined on a compact convex set with no approximate fixed point sequence. In contrast, it is observed that every affine (no…
In this article we extend the notion of quasi-nilpotent equivalent operators, introduced by Colojoara and Foias \cite{co1} for Banach spaces, to the class of bounded operators on sequentially complete locally convex spaces.
We extend the results by Froelich and Spronk and Turowska on the connection between operator synthesis and spectral synthesis for A(G) to second countable locally compact groups G. This gives us another proof that one-point subset of G is a set of spectral synthesis and that any closed subgroup is a set of local spectral synthesis. Furthermore we show that ``non-triangular'' sets are strong operator Ditkin sets and we establish a connection between operator Ditkin sets and Ditkin sets. These results are applied to prove that any closed subgroup of $G$ is a local Ditkin set.
We completely characterize the Crawford number attainment set and the numerical radius attainment set of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space. We study the intersection properties of the corresponding attainment sets of numerical radius, Crawford number, norm, minimum norm of a bounded linear operator defined on a normed space. Our study illustrates the similarities and the differences of the extremal properties of a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space and a general normed space.
We prove that if a set $B$ in a Banach space $X$ can be written as an increasing, countable union $B=\cup_n B_n$ of sets $B_n$ such that no $B_n$ is uniform boundedness deciding, then also $B$ is not uniform boundedness deciding. From this we can give a positive answer to a question of M. Valdivia.
In this paper, we extend the Hake-McShane and Hake-Henstock-Kurzweil integrals of Banach space valued functions from m-dimensional open and bounded sets to m-dimensional sets G such that |G \ Go| = 0. We will prove the full descriptive characterizations of new integrals in terms of the locally McShane and locally Henstock-Kurzweil integrals.
A regular symmetric operator on a Hilbert module is self-adjoint whenever there exists a suitable approximate identity. We say an operator is 'locally bounded' if the composition of the operator with each element in the approximate identity is bounded. We prove that the perturbation of a regular self-adjoint operator by a locally bounded symmetric operator is again regular and self-adjoint. We use this result to show that the Kasparov class represented by an unbounded Kasparov module is stable under locally bounded perturbations. As an application, we show that we obtain a converse to the 'dou…
If X is a sequentially complete locally convex space, then a quotient bounded operator T is regular (in the sense of Waelbroeck) if and only if it is a bounded element (in the sense of Allan) of the algebra of quotient bounded operators on X. The classic functional calculus for the bounded operators on Banach space is generalized for such bounded operators. Also are studied some spectral propreties of the locally bounded operators.
Given a locally compact quantum group $\mathbb G$, we study the structure of completely bounded homomorphisms $π:L^1(\mathbb G)\rightarrow\mathcal B(H)$, and the question of when they are similar to $\ast$-homomorphisms. By analogy with the cocommutative case (representations of the Fourier algebra $A(G)$), we are led to consider the associated map $π^*:L^1_\sharp(\mathbb G) \rightarrow \mathcal B(H)$ given by $π^*(ω) = π(ω^\sharp)^*$. We show that the corepresentation $V_π$ of $L^\infty(\mathbb G)$ associated to $π$ is invertible if and only if both $π$ and $π^*$ are completely bounded. Moreo…
A result of Gilbert shows that every completely bounded multiplier $f$ of the Fourier algebra $A(G)$ arises from a pair of bounded continuous maps $α,β:G \rightarrow K$, where $K$ is a Hilbert space, and $f(s^{-1}t) = (β(t)|α(s))$ for all $s,t\in G$. We recast this in terms of adjointable operators acting between certain Hilbert C$^*$-modules, and show that an analogous construction works for completely bounded left multipliers of a locally compact quantum group. We find various ways to deal with right multipliers: one of these involves looking at the opposite quantum group, and this leads to …
Consider the following property of a topological group G: every continuous affine G-action on a Hilbert space with a bounded orbit has a fixed point. We prove that this property characterizes amenability for locally compact sigma-compact groups (e.g. countable groups). Along the way, we introduce a "moderate" variant of the classical induction of representations and we generalize the Gaboriau--Lyons theorem to prove that any non-amenable locally compact group admits a probabilistic variant of discrete free subgroups. This leads to the "measure-theoretic solution" to the von Neumann problem for…
In the main result of the paper we extend Rosenthal's characterization of Banach spaces with the Schur property by showing that for a quasi-complete locally convex space $E$ whose separable bounded sets are metrizable the following conditions are equivalent: (1) $E$ has the Schur property, (2) $E$ and $E_w$ have the same sequentially compact sets, where $E_w$ is the space $E$ with the weak topology, (3) $E$ and $E_w$ have the same compact sets, (4) $E$ and $E_w$ have the same countably compact sets, (5) $E$ and $E_w$ have the same pseudocompact sets, (6) $E$ and $E_w$ have the same functionall…
This paper is devoted to the study of geometry properties of wavelet and Riesz wavelet sets on locally compact abelian groups. The catalyst for our research is a result by Wang ([32], Theorem 1.1) in the Euclidean wavelet theory. Here, we extend the result to wavelet and Riesz wavelet collection of sets in infinite locally compact abelian groups.
We study the boundedness of Toeplitz operators $T_ψ$ with locally integrable symbols on weighted harmonic Bergman spaces over the unit ball of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Generalizing earlier results for analytic function spaces, we derive a general sufficient condition for the boundedness of $T_ψ$ in terms of suitable averages of its symbol. We also obtain a similar "vanishing" condition for compactness. Finally, we show how these results can be transferred to the setting of the standard weighted Bergman spaces of analytic functions.
Using techniques from TRO equivalence of masa bimodules we prove various transference results: We show that when $α$ is a group homomorphism which pushes forward the Haar measure of $G$ to a measure absolutely continuous with respect to the Haar measure on $H$, then $(α\timesα)^{-1}$ preserves sets of compact operator synthesis, and conversely when $α$ is onto. We also prove similar preservation results for operator Ditkin sets and operator M-sets, obtaining preservation results for M-sets as corollaries. Some of these results extend or complement existing results of Ludwig, Shulman, Todorov a…
In this note we introduce the concept of a semi-bounded unitary representations of an infinite-dimensional Lie group $G$. Semi-boundedness is defined in terms of the corresponding momentum set in the dual $\g'$ of the Lie algebra $\g$ of $G$. After dealing with some functional analytic issues concerning certain weak-$*$-locally compact subsets of dual spaces, called semi-equicontinuous, we characterize unitary representations which are bounded in the sense that their momentum set is equicontinuous, we characterize semi-bounded representations of locally convex spaces in terms of spectral measu…
