In this note, we prove that on an $n$-dimensional compact toric manifold with positive first Chern class, the Kähler-Ricci flow with any initial $(S^1)^n$-invariant Kähler metric converges to a Kähler-Ricci soliton. In particular, we give another proof for the existence of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a compact toric manifold with positive first Chern class by using the Kähler-Ricci flow.
Let $M^n$ be a compact K$\ddot{a}$hler manifold with almost nonnegative Ricci curvature and nonzero first Betti number. We show that the holomorphic Euler number of $M^n$ vanishes, which gives a new obstruction for compact complex manifolds admitting K$\ddot{a}$hler metrics with almost nonnegative Ricci curvature. A crucial step in the proof is to show a vanishing theorem of Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology.
Anti-diagonal toric generalized K$\ddot{a}$hler structures of symplectic type on a compact toric symplectic manifold were investigated in \cite{Wang2} . In this article, we consider \emph{general} toric generalized K$\ddot{a}$hler structures of symplectic type, without requiring them to be anti-diagonal. Such a structure is characterized by a triple $(τ, C, F)$ where $τ$ is a strictly convex function defined in the interior of the moment polytope $Δ$ and $C, F$ are two constant anti-symmetric matrices. We prove that underlying each such a structure is a \emph{canonical} toric K$\ddot{a}$hler s…
This is a sequel of \cite{Wang}, which provides a general formalism for this paper. We mainly investigate thoroughly a subclass of toric generalized K$\ddot{a}$hler manifolds of symplectic type introduced by Boulanger in \cite{Bou}. We find torus actions on such manifolds are all \emph{strong Hamiltonian} in the sense of \cite{Wang}. For each such a manifold, we prove that besides the ordinary two complex structures $J_\pm$ associated to the biHermitian description, there is a \emph{third} canonical complex structure $J_0$ underlying the geometry, which makes the manifold toric K$\ddot{a}$hler…
For the sake of hyperk{ä}hler SYZ conjecture, finding holomorphic Lagrangian fibrations becomes an important issue. Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are real dimension $4n$ non-compact hyperk{ä}hler manifolds which are quaternion analog of toric varieties. The $n$ dimensional residue circle action on it admitting a hyperk{ä}hler moment map. We use the complex part of this moment map to construct a holomorphic Lagrangian fibration with generic fiber diffeomorphic to $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$, and study the singular fibers.
Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are quaternion analog of toric varieties. Bielawski pointed out that they can be glued by cotangent bundles of toric varieties. Following his idea, viewing both toric varieties and toric hyperk{ä}her manifolds as GIT quotients, we first establish geometrical criteria for the semi-stable points. Then based on these criteria, we show that the cotangent bundles of compact toric varieties in the core of toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold are sufficient to glue the desired toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold.
We develop a parabolic pluripotential theory on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, defining and studying weak solutions to degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations. We provide a parabolic analogue of the celebrated Bedford-Taylor theory and apply it to the study of the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow on varieties with log terminal singularities.
For any complete noncompact K$\ddot{a}$hler manifold with nonnegative and bounded holomorphic bisectional curvature,we provide the necessary and sufficient condition for non-ancient solution to the Ricci flow in this paper.
In this paper we prove that for a complete, connected and oriented Käler affine manifold $(M,G)$ of dimension $n,$ if it is Kähler affine Ricci flat or the K$\ddot{a}$hler affine scalar curvature $S\equiv0,$ ($n\leq 5$), then the universal covering manifold $\widetilde{M}$ of $M$ is isometric to the Euclidean n-space $E^{n}$.
We establish a stability result for elliptic and parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, which applies in particular to the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow. Dedicated to Jean-Pierre Demailly on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
By establishing two general quadratic inequalities, we obtain some inequalities related to Ricci curvatures for Lagrangian submanifolds of K$\ddot{\mathrm{a}}$hler QCH-manifolds, which generalize some results for Lagrangian submanifolds of complex space forms.
We determine the greatest lower bounds on the transverse Ricci curvature of compact toric Sasaki manifolds with positive basic first Chern class and with the first Chern class of the contact bundle being trivial. This is based on Wang-Zhu's and Futaki-Ono-Wang's works, and is an analogue of C. Li's work on toric Fano manifolds.
We study pluripotential complex Monge-Ampère flows in big cohomology classes on compact K{ä}hler manifolds. We use the Perron method, considering pluripotential subsolutions to the Cauchy problem. We prove that, under natural assumptions on the data, the upper envelope of all subsolutions is continuous in space and semi-concave in time, and provides a unique pluripotential solution with such regularity. We apply this theory to study pluripotential K{ä}hler-Ricci flows on compact K{ä}hler manifolds of general type as well as on stable varieties.
We construct new explicit toric scalar-flat K{ä}hler ALE metrics on weighted projective spaces of non-compact type, which we use to obtain smooth extremal K{ä}hler metrics on appropriate resolutions of orbifolds. In particular, we obtain new extremal metrics certain resolutions of weighted projective spaces of compact type.
We study the generalized Kähler-Ricci flow with initial data of symplectic type, and show that this condition is preserved. In the case of a Fano background with toric symmetry, we establish global existence of the normalized flow. We derive an extension of Perelman's entropy functional to this setting, which yields convergence of nonsingular solutions at infinity. Furthermore, we derive an extension of Mabuchi's $K$-energy to this setting, which yields weak convergence of the flow.
Assume that $X$ is a homogeneous toric bundle of the form $G^{\mathbb{C}}\times_{P,τ} F$ and is Fano, where $G$ is a compact semisimple Lie group with complexification $G^\mathbb{C}$, $P$ a parabolic subgroup of $G^\mathbb{C}$, $τ:P\rightarrow (T^m)^\mathbb{C}$ is a surjective homomorphism from $P$ to the algebraic torus $(T^m)^\mathbb{C}$, and $F$ is a compact toric manifold of complex dimension $m$. In this note we show that the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow on $X$ with a $G\times T^m$-invariant initial Kähler form in $c_1(X)$ converges, modulo the algebraic torus action, to a Kähler-Ricci so…
We introduce a class of almost homogeneous varieties contained in the class of spherical varieties and containing horospherical varieties as well as complete symmetric varieties. We develop K{ä}hler geometry on these varieties, with applications to canonical metrics in mind, as a generalization of the Guillemin-Abreu-Donaldson geometry of toric varieties. Namely we associate convex functions with hermitian metrics on line bundles, and express the curvature form in terms of this function, as well as the corresponding Monge-Amp{è}re volume form and scalar curvature. We then provide an expression…
For Fano homogeneous toric bundles, we obtain a formula of the greatest lower bound on Ricci curvature. We also give a criteria for the ampleness of a kind of line bundles over general homogeneous toric bundles.
Let $(M^3,g_0)$ be a complete noncompact Riemannian 3-manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature and with injectivity radius bounded away from zero. Suppose that the scalar curvature $R(x)\to 0$ as $x\to \infty$. Then the Ricci flow with initial data $(M^3,g_0)$ has a long time solution. This extends a recent result of Ma and Zhu. We also have a higher dimensional version, and we reprove a K$\ddot{a}$hler analogy due to Chau, Tam and Yu.
It is proved that an homogeneous toric bundles over a flag manifold G^\C/P admits a Kaehler-Ricci solitonic metric if and only if it is Fano. In particular, an homogeneous toric bundle of this kind is Kaehler-Einstein if and only if it is Fano and its Futaki invariant vanishes identically.
In this short note, we prove that a Calabi extremal Kaehler-Ricci soliton on a compact toric Kaehler manifold is Einstein. This solves for the class of toric manifolds a general problem stated by the authors that they solved only under some curvature assumptions.
In this short note, we will prove a volume stability theorem which says that if an n-dimensional toric manifold $M$ admits a $\mathbb{T}^n$ invariant Kähler metric $ω$ with Ricci curvature no less than 1 and its volume is close to the volume of $\mathbb{CP}^n$, $M$ is bi-holomorphic to $\mathbb{CP}^n$.
We show, using a direct variational approach, that the second boundary value problem for the Monge-Ampère equation in R^n with exponential non-linearity and target a convex body P is solvable iff 0 is the barycenter of P. Combined with some toric geometry this confirms, in particular, the (generalized) Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for toric log Fano varieties (X,D), saying that (X,D) admits a (singular) Kähler-Einstein metric iff it is K-stable in the algebro-geometric sense. We thus obtain a new proof and extend to the log Fano setting the seminal result of Zhou-Wang concerning the case when…
We give criterions for the existence of toric conical Kahler-Einstein and Kahler-Ricci soliton metrics on any toric manifold in relation to the greatest Ricci and Bakry-Emery-Ricci lower bound. We also show that any two toric manifolds with the same dimension can be joined by a continuous path of toric manifolds with conical Kahler-Einstein metrics in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology.
The purpose of this paper is to calculate the support of the multiplier ideal sheaves derived from the Kähler-Ricci flow on certain toric Fano manifolds with large symmetry. The early idea of this paper has already been in Appendix of \cite{futaki-sano0711}.
We show that the generalized Kähler-Ricci soliton equation on 4-dimensional toric Kähler orbifolds reduces to ODEs assuming there is a Hamiltonian 2-form. This leads to an explicit resolution of this equation on labeled triangles and convex labeled quadrilaterals. In particular, we give the explicit expression of the Kähler-Ricci solitons of weighted projective planes as well as new examples.
This is the first of a sequence of two papers. Here, a simple algebraic characterization of the Fano manifolds in the class of homogeneous toric bundles over a flag manifold G^C/P is provided in terms of symplectic data. The result of this paper is used in the second paper, where it is proved that an homogeneous toric bundle over a flag manifold admits a Kaehler-Ricci solitonic metric if and only if it is Fano.
In this paper we study the gradient steady Kähler-Ricci soliton metrics on non-compact toric manifolds. We show that the orbit space of the free locus of such a manifold carries a natural Hessian structure with a nonnegative Bakry-Émery tensor. We generalize Calabi's classical rigidity result and use this to prove that any complete $\mathbf T^n$-invariant gradient steady Kähler-Ricci soliton with a free torus action must be a flat $(\mathbb C^*)^n$.
We prove a necessary and sufficient condition in terms of the barycenters of a collection of polytopes for existence of coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics on toric Fano manifolds. This confirms the toric case of a coupled version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture. We also obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for existence of torus-invariant solutions to a system of soliton type equations on toric Fano manifolds. Some of these solutions provide natural candidates for the large time limits of a certain geometric flow generalizing the Kähler-Ricci flow.
We show the properties of the blowup limits of \KRf solutions on Fano surfaces if Riemannian curvature is unbounded. As an application, on every toric Fano surface, we prove that \KRf converges to a Kähler Ricci soliton metric if the initial metric has toric symmetry. Therefore we give a new Ricci flow proof of existence of Kähler Ricci soliton metrics on toric surfaces.
We present a general numerical method for investigating prescribed Ricci curvature problems on toric Kähler manifolds. This method is applied to two generalisations of Einstein metrics, namely Ricci solitons and quasi-Einstein metrics. We begin by recovering the Koiso--Cao soliton and the Lü--Page--Pope quasi-Einstein metrics on $\mathbb{CP}^{2}\sharp\overline{\mathbb{CP}}^{2}$ (in both cases the metrics are known explicitly). We also find numerical approximations to the Wang--Zhu soliton on $\mathbb{CP}^{2}\sharp 2\overline{\mathbb{CP}}^{2}$ (here the metric is not known explicitly). Finally,…
We show that, up to biholomorphism, there is at most one complete $T^n$-invariant shrinking gradient Kähler-Ricci soliton on a non-compact toric manifold $M$. We also establish uniqueness without assuming $T^n$-invariance if the Ricci curvature is bounded and if the soliton vector field lies in the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{t}$ of $T^n$. As an application, we show that, up to isometry, the unique complete shrinking gradient Kähler-Ricci soliton with bounded scalar curvature on $\mathbb{CP}^{1} \times \mathbb{C}$ is the standard product metric associated to the Fubini-Study metric on $\mathbb{CP}^…
In this paper, we extend the result about the existence of Kähler-Ricci soliton on toric manifold (proved by Wang and Zhy) by proving this existence on horospherical varieties using the continuity method.
We develop the first steps of a parabolic pluripotential theory in bounded strongly pseudo-convex domains of Cn. We study certain degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations, modelled on the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow evolving on complex algebraic varieties with Kawamata log-terminal singularities. Under natural assumptions on the Cauchy-Dirichlet boundary data, we show that the envelope of pluripotential subsolutions is semi-concave in time and continuous in space, and provides the unique pluripotential solution with such regularity.
In this paper, we extend the result about the existence of Kähler-Ricci soliton on toric manifold (proved by Wang and Zhy) by proving this existence on some wonderful group compactifications using the continuity method.
This is an expository article. Among other topics, we discuss the existence of Kahler-Ricci soliton metrics on toric Fano manifolds, and Kahler-Einstein metrics on deformations of the Mukai-Umemura 3-fold
We partially confirm a conjecture of Donaldson relating the greatest Ricci lower bound $R(X)$ to the existence of conical Kahler-Einstein metrics on a Fano manifold $X$. In particular, if $D\in |-K_X|$ is a smooth simple divisor and the Mabuchi $K$-energy is bounded below, then there exists a unique conical Kahler-Einstein metric satisfying $Ric(g) = βg + (1-β) [D]$ for any $β\in (0,1)$. We also construct unique smooth conical toric Kahler-Einstein metrics with $β=R(X)$ and a unique effective Q-divisor $D\in [-K_X]$ for all toric Fano manifolds. Finally we prove a Miyaoka-Yau type inequality f…
We prove that a crepant resolution of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone X admits a complete Ricci-flat Kähler metric asymptotic to the cone metric in every Kähler class in H^2_c(Y,R). This result contains as a subcase the existence of ALE Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on crepant resolutions of X=C^n /G, where G is a finite subgroup of SL(n,C). We consider the case in which X is toric. A result of A. Futaki, H. Ono, and G. Wang guarantees the existence of a Ricci-flat Kähler cone metric if X is Gorenstein. We use toric geometry to construct crepant resolutions.
We show that, in toric manifolds, one can characterize the sign of the Ricci curvature in terms of the convexity of the volume functional. More generally we discuss relationships between (i) Ricci curvature and volume, (ii) totally real and Lagrangian submanifolds, (iii) pluri-subharmonic functions and convexity.
We extend Calabi ansatz over Kähler-Einstein manifolds to Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. As an application we prove the existence of a complete scalar-flat Kähler metric on Kähler cone manifolds over Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. In particular there exists a complete scalar-flat Kähler metric on the toric Kähler cone manifold constructed from a toric diagram with a constant height.
We construct gradient Kähler-Ricci solitons on Ricci-flat Kähler cone manifolds and on line bundles over toric Fano manifolds. Certain shrinking and expanding solitons are pasted together to form eternal solutions of the Ricci flow. The method we employ is the Calabi ansatz over Sasaki-Einstein manifolds, and the results generalize constructions of Cao and Feldman-Ilmanen-Knopf.
We consider an extension of the results of S. Bando, R. Kobyashi, G. Tian, and S. T. Yau on the existence of Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on quasi-projective varieties Y=X\D with α[D]=c_1(X), α>1. The requirement that D admit a Kähler-Einstein metric is generalized to the condition that the link S in the normal bundle of D admits a Sasaki-Einstein structure in the Sasaki-cone of the usual Sasaki structure provided the embedding D\subset X satisfies an additional holomorphic condition. If D is a toric variety, then S always admits a Sasaki-Einstein metric. As an application we prove that every sma…
A series of examples of toric Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifolds is constructed. These are submanifolds of toric 3-Sasaki 7-manifolds and such a Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifold corresponds uniquely to a toric 3-Sasaki 7-manifold. This produces examples of quasi-regular Sasaki-Einstein structures on every #k(S^2 xS^3), for k odd. Toric geometry is used to construct examples of positive Ricci curvature toric Sasaki structures on non-spin 5-manifolds. Then the join construction is used to construct infinitely many quasi-regular toric Sasaki-Einstein manifolds with arbitrarily high second Betti number in ever…
Let $(X, P)$ be a toric variety. In this note, we show that the $C^0$-norm of the Calabi flow $φ(t)$ on $X$ is uniformly bounded in $[0, T)$ if the Sobolev constant of $φ(t)$ is uniformly bounded in $[0, T)$. We also show that if $(X, P)$ is uniform $K$-stable, then the modified Calabi flow converges exponentially fast to an extremal Kähler metric if the Ricci curvature and the Sobolev constant are uniformly bounded. At last, we discuss an extension of our results to a quasi-proper Kähler manifold.
We show that, in toric Kaehler geometry, the sign of the Ricci curvature corresponds exactly to convexity properties of the volume functional. We also discuss analogous relationships in the more general context of quasi-homogeneous manifolds, and existence results for minimal Lagrangian submanifolds.
In this paper we study compact Sasaki manifolds in view of transverse Kähler geometry and extend some results in Kähler geometry to Sasaki manifolds. In particular we define integral invariants which obstruct the existence of transverse Kähler metric with harmonic Chern forms. The integral invariant $f_1$ for the first Chern class case becomes an obstruction to the existence of transverse Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature. We prove the existence of transverse Kähler-Ricci solitons (or {\it Sasaki-Ricci soliton}) on compact toric Sasaki manifolds whose basic first Chern form of the nor…
It is shown that the Pohlmeyer map of a $σ$-model with a toric two-dimensional target space naturally leads to the `sausage' metric. We then elaborate the trigonometric deformation of the $\mathrm{CP}^{n-1}$-model, proving that its $T$-dual metric is Kähler and solves the Ricci flow equation. Finally, we discuss a relation between flag manifold $σ$-models and Toda field theories.
We show that any compact convex simple lattice polytope is the moment polytope of a Kähler-Einstein orbifold, unique up to orbifold covering and homothety. We extend the Wang-Zhu Theorem \cite{WZ} giving the existence of a Kähler-Ricci soliton on any toric monotone manifold on any compact convex simple labelled polytope satisfying the combinatoric condition corresponding to monotonicity. We obtain that any compact convex simple polytope $P\subset \bR^n$ admits a set of inward normals, unique up to dilatation, such that there exists a symplectic potential satisfying the Guillemin boundary condi…
