We construct, using the quantum dilogarithm, a series of *-representations of quantized cluster varieties. This includes a construction of infinite dimensional unitary projective representations of their discrete symmetry groups - the cluster modular groups. The examples of the latter include the classical mapping class groups of punctured surfaces.
One of applications is quantization of higher Teichmuller spaces.
The constructed unitary representations can be viewed as analogs of the Weil representation. In both cases representations are given by integral operators. Their kernels in our case are the quantum dilogarithms.
We introduce the symplectic/quantum double of cluster varieties and related them to the representations.
In connection with generalized cluster algebras we introduce a certain generalization of the celebrated Rogers dilogarithm, which we call the Rogers dilogarithms of higher degree. We show that there is an identity of these generalized Rogers dilogarithms associated with any period of seeds of a generalized cluster algebra.
We extend the notion of the quantization of the coefficients of the ordinary cluster algebras to the generalized cluster algebras by Chekhov and Shapiro. In parallel to the ordinary case, it is tightly integrated with certain generalizations of the ordinary quantum dilogarithm, which we call the quantum dilogarithms of higher degrees. As an application, we derive the identities of these generalized quantum dilogarithms associated with any period of quantum Y-seeds.
Using the quantum cluster algebra formalism of Fock and Goncharov, we present several forms of quantum dilogarithm identities associated with periodicities in quantum cluster algebras, namely, the tropical, universal, and local forms. We then demonstrate how classical dilogarithm identities naturally emerge from quantum dilogarithm identities in local form in the semiclassical limit by applying the saddle point method.
The main result is a construction, via the quantum dilogarithm, of certain intertwiner operators, which play the crucial role in the quantization of the cluster X-varieties and construction of the corresponding canonical representation.
The dilogarithm identities for the central charges of conformal field theories of simply laced type were conjectured by Bazhanov, Kirillov, and Reshetikhin. Their functional generalizations were conjectured by Gliozzi and Tateo. They have been partly proved by various authors. We prove these identities in full generality for any pair of Dynkin diagrams of simply laced type based on the cluster algebra formulation of the Y-systems.
We prove the periodicities of the restricted T and Y-systems associated with the quantum affine algebra of type C_r, F_4, and G_2 at any level. We also prove the dilogarithm identities for these Y-systems at any level. Our proof is based on the tropical Y-systems and the categorification of the cluster algebra associated with any skew-symmetric matrix by Plamondon.
These are expanded notes from three survey lectures given at the 14th International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA XIV) held in Tokyo in August 2010. We first study identities between products of quantum dilogarithm series associated with Dynkin quivers following Reineke. We then examine similar identities for quivers with potential and link them to Fomin-Zelevinsky's theory of cluster algebras. Here we mainly follow ideas due to Bridgeland, Fock-Goncharov, Kontsevich-Soibelman and Nagao.
We prove the periodicities of the restricted T and Y-systems associated with the quantum affine algebra of type B_r at any level. We also prove the dilogarithm identities for the Y-systems of type B_r at any level. Our proof is based on the tropical Y-systems and the categorification of the cluster algebra associated with any skew-symmetric matrix by Plamondon. Using this new method, we also give an alternative and simplified proof of the periodicities of the T and Y-systems associated with pairs of simply laced Dynkin diagrams.
Cluster ensemble is a pair of positive spaces (X, A) related by a map p: A -> X. It generalizes cluster algebras of Fomin and Zelevinsky, which are related to the A-space. We develope general properties of cluster ensembles, including its group of symmetries - the cluster modular group, and a relation with the motivic dilogarithm. We define a q-deformation of the X-space. Formulate general duality conjectures regarding canonical bases in the cluster ensemble context. We support them by constructing the canonical pairing in the finite type case. Interesting examples of cluster ensembles are pro…
We consider two kinds of periodicities of mutations in cluster algebras. For any sequence of mutations under which exchange matrices are periodic, we define the associated T- and Y-systems. When the sequence is `regular', they are particularly natural generalizations of the known `classic' T- and Y-systems. Furthermore, for any sequence of mutations under which seeds are periodic, we formulate the associated dilogarithm identity. We prove the identities when exchange matrices are skew symmetric.
We study the root of unity degeneration of cluster algebras and quantum dilogarithm identities. We prove identities for the cyclic dilogarithm associated with a mutation sequence of a quiver, and as a consequence new identities for the non-compact quantum dilogarithm at $b=1$.
An important problem in the theory of cluster algebras is to compute the fundamental group of the exchange graph. A non-trivial closed loop in the exchange graph, for example, generates a non-trivial identity for the classical and quantum dilogarithm functions. An interesting conjecture, partly motivated by dilogarithm functions, is that this fundamental group is generated by closed loops of mutations involving only two of the cluster variables. We present examples and counterexamples for this naive conjecture, and then formulate a better version of the conjecture for acyclic seeds.
The famous pentagon identity for quantum dilogarithms has a generalization for every Dynkin quiver, due to Reineke. A more advanced generalization is associated with a pair of alternating Dynkin quivers, due to Keller. The description and proof of Keller's identities involves cluster algebras and cluster categories, and the statement of the identity is implicit. In this paper we describe Keller's identities explicitly, and prove them by a dimension counting argument. Namely, we consider quiver representations $\boldsymbol{\mathrm{Rep}}_γ$ together with a superpotential function $W_γ$, and calc…
BPS spectrum with finite number of states are found for higher rank four dimensional N=2 theory engineered from six dimensional A_{N-1} (2,0) theory on a Riemann surface with various kinds of defects. The wall crossing formula is interpreted as the quantum dilogarithm identity. Various methods including quiver representation theory, maximal green mutation, and cluster algebra are used extensively. The spectral generator and its refined version for the higher rank theory are written down using the explicit spectrum information. The finite chamber has an interesting N^3 behavior in the large N l…
We introduce and study a Schwarz space S in the space of functions on the real line. It is a module over the algebra L of regular functions on the (modular double of the) non-commutative q-deformation of the moduli space of configurations of 5 cyclically ordered points on the projective line. The algebra L has an order five automorphism corresponding to the cyclic shift of the points. The quantum dilogarithm gives rise to an automorphism of the space Schwarz S intertwining the automorphism of L. This easily implies the pentagon relation for the quantum dilogarithm function. The triple (L, S, t…
We give several explicit examples of quantum cluster algebra structures, as introduced by Berenstein and Zelevinsky, on quantized coordinate rings of partial flag varieties and their associated unipotent radicals. These structures are shown to be quantizations of the cluster algebra structures found on the corresponding classical objects by Geiss, Leclerc and Schroer, whose work generalizes that of several other authors. We also exhibit quantum cluster algebra structures on the quantized enveloping algebras of the Lie algebras of the unipotent radicals.
The understanding of the topology of the spectra of quantum Schubert cell algebras hinges on the description of their prime factors by ideals invariant under the maximal torus of the ambient Kac-Moody group. We give an explicit description of these prime quotients by expressing their Cauchon generators in terms of sequences of normal elements in chains of subalgebras. Based on this, we construct large families of quantum clusters for all of these algebras and the quantum Richardson varieties associated to arbitrary symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras and all pairs of Weyl group elements. Along th…
A cluster variety of Fock and Goncharov is a scheme constructed by gluing split algebraic tori, called seed tori, via birational gluing maps called mutations. In quantum theory, the ring of functions on seed tori are deformed to non-commutative rings, represented as operators on Hilbert spaces. Mutations are quantized to unitary maps between the Hilbert spaces intertwining the representations. These unitary intertwiners are described using the quantum dilogarithm function $Φ^\hbar$. Algebraic relations among classical mutations are satisfied by the intertwiners up to complex constants. The pre…
We compute the number of points over finite fields of some algebraic varieties related to cluster algebras of finite type. More precisely, these varieties are the fibers of the projection map from the cluster variety to the affine space of coefficients.
We construct a braiding operator in terms of the quantum dilogarithm function based on the quantum cluster algebra. We show that it is a q-deformation of the R-operator for which hyperbolic octrahedron is assigned. Also shown is that, by taking q to be a root of unity, our braiding operator reduces to the Kashaev R-matrix up to a simple gauge-transformation.
We construct an injective algebra homomorphism of the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$ into a quantum cluster algebra $\mathbf{L}_n$ associated to the moduli space of framed $PGL_{n+1}$-local systems on a marked punctured disk. We obtain a description of the coproduct of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1})$ in terms of the corresponding quantum cluster algebra associated to the marked twice punctured disk, and express the action of the $R$-matrix in terms of a mapping class group element corresponding to the half-Dehn twist rotating one puncture about the other. As a consequence, we realize the …
The theory of cluster algebras of S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky has assigned a fan to each Dynkin diagram. Then A. Buan, R. Marsh, M. Reineke, I. Reiten and G. Todorov have generalized this construction using arbitrary quivers on Dynkin diagrams. In the special case of the unioriented quiver of type A, we describe the cohomology ring of the toric variety associated to this fan. A natural base is obtained and an explicit rule is given for the product of any two generators.
Motivated by a recent conjecture by Hernandez and Leclerc [arXiv:0903.1452], we embed a Fomin-Zelevinsky cluster algebra [arXiv:math/0104151] into the Grothendieck ring R of the category of representations of quantum loop algebras U_q(Lg) of a symmetric Kac-Moody Lie algebra g, studied earlier by the author via perverse sheaves on graded quiver varieties [arXiv:math/9912158]. Graded quiver varieties controlling the image can be identified with varieties which Lusztig used to define the canonical base. The cluster monomials form a subset of the base given by the classes of simple modules in R, …
We use Bonahon-Wong's trace map to study character varieties of the once-punctured torus and of the 4-punctured sphere. We clarify a relationship with cluster algebra associated with ideal triangulations of surfaces, and we show that the Goldman Poisson algebra of loops on surfaces is recovered from the Poisson structure of cluster algebra. It is also shown that cluster mutations give the automorphism of the character varieties. Motivated by a work of Chekhov-Mazzocco-Rubtsov, we revisit confluences of punctures on sphere from cluster algebraic viewpoint, and we obtain associated affine cubic …
A cluster variety of Fock and Goncharov is a scheme constructed from the data related to the cluster algebras of Fomin and Zelevinsky. A seed is a combinatorial data which can be encoded as an $n\times n$ matrix with integer entries, or as a quiver in special cases, together with $n$ formal variables. A mutation is a certain rule for transforming a seed into another seed; the new variables are related to the previous variables by some rational expressions. To each seed one attaches an $n$-dimensional torus, and by gluing the tori along the birational maps defined by the mutation formulas, one …
Inspired by a previous work of Nakajima, we consider perverse sheaves over acyclic graded quiver varieties and study the Fourier-Sato-Deligne transform from a representation theoretic point of view. We obtain deformed monoidal categorifications of acyclic quantum cluster algebras with specific coefficients. In particular, the (quantum) positivity conjecture is verified whenever there is an acyclic seed in the (quantum) cluster algebra. In the second part of the paper, we introduce new quantizations and show that all quantum cluster monomials in our setting belong to the dual canonical basis of…
These notes reflect the contents of three lectures given at the workshop of the 14th International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA XIV), held in August 2010 in Tokyo. We first provide an introduction to quantum loop algebras and their finite-dimensional representations. We explain in particular Nakajima's geometric description of the irreducible q-characters in terms of graded quiver varieties. We then present a recent attempt to understand the tensor structure of the category of finite- dimensional representations by means of cluster algebras.
For each simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, we construct an algebra embedding of the quantum group $U_q(\mathfrak{g})$ into certain quantum torus algebra $D_\mathfrak{g}$ via the positive representations of split real quantum group. The quivers corresponding to $D_\mathfrak{g}$ is obtained from amalgamation of two basic quivers, where each of them is mutation equivalent to the cluster structure of the moduli space of framed $G$-local system on a disk with 3 marked points when $G$ is of classical type. We derive a factorization of the universal $R$-matrix into quantum dilogarithms of cluster va…
Cluster varieties are geometric objects that have recently found applications in several areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. This thesis studies the geometry of a large class of cluster varieties associated to compact oriented surfaces with boundary. The main original contribution of this thesis is to develop the properties of a particular kind of cluster variety called the symplectic double. We show that the symplectic double is birational to a certain moduli space of local systems associated to a doubled surface. We define a version of the notion of measured lamination on such a s…
We define a canonical map from a certain space of laminations on a punctured surface into the quantized algebra of functions on a cluster variety. We show that this map satisfies a number of special properties conjectured by Fock and Goncharov. Our construction is based on the "quantum trace" map introduced by Bonahon and Wong.
In previous work of the second- and third-named authors with Linhui Shen, cluster theory was used to construct wavefunctions for branes in threespace and conjecturally relate them to open Gromov-Witten invariants. This was done by defining a quantum Lagrangian subvariety of a quantum cluster variety, and mutating a simple solution to the defining equations in a distinguished seed. In this paper, we extend the construction to incorporate the skein-theoretic approach to open Gromov-Witten theory of Ekholm-Shende. In particular, we define a skein-theoretic version of cluster theory, including the…
It is known that the set of irreducible components of nilpotent varieties provides a geometric realization of the crystal basis for quantum groups. For each reduced expression of a Weyl group element, Geiß, Leclerc and Schröer has recently given a parametrization of irreducible components of nilpotent varieties in studying cluster algebras. In this paper we show that their parametrization coincides with Lusztig's parametrization of the canonical basis.
For skew-symmetric acyclic quantum cluster algebras, we express the quantum $F$-polynomials and the quantum cluster monomials in terms of Serre polynomials of quiver Grassmannians of rigid modules. As byproducts, we obtain the existence of counting polynomials for these varieties and the positivity conjecture with respect to acyclic seeds. These results complete previous work by Caldero and Reineke and confirm a recent conjecture by Rupel.
For a Kac-Moody group $G$, double Bruhat cells $G^{u,e}$ ($u$ is a Weyl group element) have positive geometric crystal structures. In arXiv:1210.2533, it is shown that there exist birational maps between `cluster tori' $\mathcal{X}_Σ$ (resp. $\mathcal{A}_Σ$) and $G_{\rm Ad}^{u,e}$ (resp. $G^{u,e}$), and they are extended to regular maps from cluster $\mathcal{X}$ (resp. $\mathcal{A}$) -varieties to $G_{\rm Ad}^{u,e}$ (resp. $G^{u,e}$). The aim of this article is to construct certain positive geometric crystal structures on the cluster tori $\mathcal{X}_Σ$ and $\mathcal{A}_Σ$ by presenting thei…
In this paper we partially settle Fock-Goncharov's duality conjecture for cluster varieties associated to their moduli spaces of ${\rm G}$-local systems on a punctured surface $\frak{S}$ with boundary data, when ${\rm G}$ is a group of type $A_2$, namely ${\rm SL}_3$ and ${\rm PGL}_3$. Based on Kuperberg's ${\rm SL}_3$-webs, we introduce the notion of ${\rm SL}_3$-laminations on $\frak{S}$ defined as certain ${\rm SL}_3$-webs with integer weights. We introduce coordinate systems for ${\rm SL}_3$-laminations, and show that ${\rm SL}_3$-laminations satisfying a congruence property are geometric …
In 2006, Fock and Goncharov constructed a nice basis of the ring of regular functions on the moduli space of framed ${\rm PGL}_2$-local systems on a punctured surface $S$. The moduli space is birational to a cluster $\mathcal{X}$-variety, whose positive real points recover the enhanced Teichmüller space of $S$. Their basis is enumerated by integral laminations on $S$, which are collections of closed curves in $S$ with integer weights. Around ten years later, a quantized version of this basis, still enumerated by integral laminations, was constructed by Allegretti and Kim. For each choice of an…
We give a construction of generalized cluster varieties and generalized cluster scattering diagrams for reciprocal generalized cluster algebras, the latter of which were defined by Chekhov and Shapiro. These constructions are analogous to the structures given for ordinary cluster algebras in the work of Gross, Hacking, Keel, and Kontsevich. As a consequence of these constructions, we are also able to construct theta functions for generalized cluster algebras, again in the reciprocal case, and demonstrate a number of their structural properties.
