We derive the Riemannian Positive Mass theorem in arbitrary dimensions, without any topological constraints. The main new tools are skin structures and surgeries on minimal hypersurfaces.
W. Simon proved a conformal positive mass theorem, which was used to prove uniqueness of black holes later. In this note, we will generalize Simon's conformal positive mass theorem in two directions. First we will consider spacetime version of conformal positive mass theorems on asymptotically flat initial data set. Next, we will prove a conformal positive mass theorem on asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds.
We extend the positive mass theorem proved previously by the author to the Lorentzian setting. This includes the original higher dimensional positive energy theorem whose spinor proof was given by Witten in dimension four and by Xiao Zhang in dimension five.
A generalized positive energy theorem for spaces with asymptotic SUSY compactification involving non-symmetric data is proved. This work is motivated by the work of Dai [D1][D2], Hertog-Horowitz-Maeda [HHM], and Zhang [Z].
We prove a positive mass theorem for spaces which asymptotically approach a flat Euclidean space times a Calabi-Yau manifold (or any special honolomy manifold except the quaternionic Kähler). This is motivated by the very recent work of Hertog-Horowitz-Maeda.
We prove a positive mass theorem for continuous Riemannian metrics in the Sobolev space $W^{2, n/2}_{\mathrm{loc}}(M)$. We argue that this is the largest class of metrics with scalar curvature a positive a.c. measure for which the positive mass theorem may be proved by our methods.
In this paper we prove a positive energy theorem related to fourth-order gravitational theories, which is a higher-order analogue of the classical ADM positive energy theorem of general relativity. We will also show that, in parallel to the corresponding situation in general relativity, this result intersects several important problems in geometric analysis. For instance, it underlies positive mass theorems associated to the Paneitz operator, playing a similar role in the positive $Q$-curvature conformal prescription problem as the Schoen-Yau positive energy theorem does for the Yamabe problem…
In this paper, we study the boundary behaviors of compact manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature and with nonempty boundary. Using a general version of Positive Mass Theorem of Schoen-Yau and Witten, we prove the following theorem: For any compact manifold with boundary and nonnegative scalar curvature, if it is spin and its boundary can be isometrically embedded into Euclidean space as a strictly convex hypersurface, then the integral of mean curvature of the boundary of the manifold cannot be greater than the integral of mean curvature of the embedded image as a hypersurface in Euclidea…
In this paper we show how a natural coupling of the Dirac equation with the generalized Jang equation, leads to a proof of the rigidity statement in the positive mass theorem with charge, without the maximal slicing condition, provided a solution to the coupled system exists.
Away from the central axis, we prove the stability of the Positive Mass Theorem in the $W^{1,p}$ sense for asymptotically flat axisymmetric manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature satisfying some additional technical assumptions. We also derive estimates for the volumes of regions, the areas of axisymmetric surfaces, and the distances between points within the manifolds.
We derive the Space-Time Positive Mass theorem in arbitrary dimensions, without topological constraints. The main new tools are skin structures and surgeries on minimal and marginally outer trapped hypersurfaces.
Built on a recent work of Almaraz, Barbosa, de Lima on positive mass theorems on asymptotically flat manifods with a noncompact boundary, we apply free boundary minimal surface techniques to prove their positive mass theorem and study the existence of positive scalar curvature metrics with mean convex boundary on a connected sum of the form $(\mathbb{T}^{n-1}\times[0,1])\#M_0$.
In this article, we give a proof for positive mass theorem of asymptotically flat manifolds with arbitrary ends when the dimension is no greater than seven. As an application, we also show a positive mass theorem for asymptotically locally Euclidean manifolds with necessary incompressible conditions.
We establish a type of positive energy theorem for asymptotically anti-de Sitter Einstein-Maxwell initial data sets by using Witten's spinoral techniques.
In this note, we consider the positive mass theorem for Riemannian manifolds $(M^{n},g)$ asymptotic to $(\mathbb{R}^{k}\times X^{n-k}, g_{\mathbb{R}^{k}}+g_{X})$ for $k\geq 3$ by studying the corresponding compactification problem.
We give, via elementary methods, explicit formulas for the ADM mass which allow us to conclude the positive mass theorem and Penrose inequality for a class of graphical manifolds which includes, for instance, that ones with flat normal bundle.
We establish the positive energy theorem for weak asymptotically anti-de Sitter initial data sets with distributional curvature under the weak dominant energy condition.
We prove a positive mass theorem for some noncompact spin manifolds that are asymptotic to products of hyperbolic space with a compact manifold. As conclusion we show the Yamabe inequality for some noncompact manifolds which are important to understand the behaviour of Yamabe invariants under surgeries.
We prove positive mass theorems for asymptotically hyperbolic and asymptotically locally hyperbolic Riemannian manifolds with black-hole-type boundaries.
We define the total energy-momenta for (4+1)-dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes, and prove the positive energy theorem for such spacetimes.
Considering the almost rigidity of the Obata theorem, we generalize Petersen and Aubry's sphere theorem about eigenvalue pinching without assuming the positivity of Ricci curvature, only assuming $Ric\geq-Kg$ and $diam\leq D$ for some positive constants $K>0$ and $D>0$.
In this paper, we prove Lorentzian positive mass theorem for spacetimes with distributional curvature. To do so, we introduce distributional curvature and generalized Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) momentum. As an application, we discuss a junction of spacetimes.

We prove that under suitable assumptions, the constant term in the Green function of the Paneitz-Branson operator on a compact Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is positive unless $(M,g)$ is conformally diffeomophic to the standard sphere. The proof is inspired by the positive mass theorem on spin manifolds by Ammann-Humbert.
We formulate and prove the Lorentzian version of the positive mass theorems with arbitrary negative cosmological constant for asymptotically AdS spacetimes. This work is the continuation of the second author's recent work on the positive mass theorem on asymptotically hyperbolic 3-manifolds.
In this paper, we prove some rigidity theorems for compact Bach-flat $n$-manifold with the positive constant scalar curvature. In particular, our conditions in Theorem 1.4 have the additional properties of being sharp.
In this paper, we develop a general study of contributions at infinity of Bochner-Weitzenböck-type formulas on asymptotically flat manifolds, inspired by Witten's proof of the positive mass theorem. As an application, we show that similar proofs can be obtained in a much more general setting as any choice of an irreducible natural bundle and a very large choice of first-order operators may lead to a positive mass theorem along the same lines if the necessary curvature conditions are satisfied.
We prove that an n($\geq$ 4)-dimensional compact Bach-flat manifold with positive constant $σ_2$ is an Einstein manifold, provided that its Weyl curvature satisfies a suitable pinching condition.
The paper provides a different proof of the result of Brendle-Schoen on the differential sphere theorem. It is shown directly that the invariant cone of curvature operators with positive (or non-negative) complex sectional curvature is preserved by the Ricci flow. This implies, by a result of Böhm-Wilking, that the normalized Ricci flow deforms such a metric to a metric of constant positive curvature. Using earlier work of Yau and Zheng it can be shown that a metric with strictly (pointwise) 1/4-pinched sectional curvature has positive complex sectional curvature. This gives a direct proof of …
Motivated by the recent progress on positive mass theorem for asymptotically flat manifolds with arbitrary ends and the Gromov's definition of scalar curvature lower bound for continuous metrics, we start a program on the positive mass theorem for asymptotically flat manifolds with $C^0$ arbitrary ends. In this work as the first step, we establish the positive mass theorem of asymptotically flat manifolds with $C^0$ arbitrary ends when the metric is $W^{1,p}_{\mathrm{loc}}$ for some $p\in(n,\infty]$ and is smooth away from a non-compact closed subset with Hausdorff dimension $n-\frac{p}{p-1}$.…
We study the positive mass theorem for certain non-smooth metrics following P. Miao's work. Our approach is to smooth the metric using the Ricci flow. As well as improving some previous results on the behaviour of the ADM mass under the Ricci flow, we extend the analysis of the zero mass case to higher dimensions.
We give a short review of recent progress on the positive energy theorem in general relativity, especially for spacetimes with nonzero cosmological constant.
We prove a harmonic asymptotics density theorem for asymptotically flat initial data sets with compact boundary that satisfy the dominant energy condition. We use this to settle the spacetime positive mass theorem, with rigidity, for initial data sets with apparent horizon boundary in dimensions less than $8$ without a spin assumption.
This paper proves a positive energy-momentum theorem for oriented Riemannian 3-manifolds that are asymptotic to a standard hyperbolic slice in anti de Sitter space-time. Analogously to the original Witten's proof in the asymptotically flat case, this result relies on spinorial methods. We also give a rigidity theorem: if the energy-momentum is degenerate (in a certain sense) then our 3-manifold can be isometrically embedded in anti de Sitter.
We show a closed Bach-flat Riemannian manifold with a fixed positive constant scalar curvature has to be locally spherical if its Weyl and traceless Ricci tensors are small in the sense of either $L^\infty$ or $L^{\frac{n}{2}}$-norm. Compared with the complete non-compact case done by Kim, we apply a different method to achieve these results. These results generalize a rigidity theorem of positive Einstein manifolds due to M.-A.Singer. As an application, we can partially recover the well-known Chang-Gursky-Yang's $4$-dimensional conformal sphere theorem.
In a previous work, the authors have introduced a Lin-Lu-Yau type Ricci curvature for directed graphs, and obtained a diameter comparison of Bonnet-Myers type. In this paper, we investigate rigidity properties for the equality case, and conclude a maximal diameter theorem of Cheng type.
In this short note we explain how one can use established results to prove various versions of the positive mass theorem for initial data sets with boundary, in dimensions less than 8.
We prove some boundary rigidity results for the hemisphere under a lower bound for Ricci curvature. The main result can be viewed as the Ricci version of a conjecture of Min-Oo.
In this paper, we prove conformal positive mass theorems for asymptotically flat manifolds with charge. We apply conformal relations to show that if the conformal sum of scalar curvature is not less than the norm square of electric field and electric density, the sum of the mass will not less than the modulus of total electric charge. We also study the situation with inner boundary condition and manifolds with scalar charge.
We show that there exists a universal positive constant $\varepsilon_0 > 0$ with the following property: Let $g$ be a positive Einstein metric on $S^4$. If the Yamabe constant of the conformal class $[g]$ satisfies $$ Y(S^4, [g]) >\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} Y(S^4, [g_{\mathbb S}]) - \varepsilon_0 $$ where $g_{\mathbb S}$ denotes the standard round metric on $S^4$, then, up to rescaling, $g$ is isometric to $g_{\mathbb S}$. This is an extension of Gursky's gap theorem for positive Einstein metrics on the four-sphere.
Leon Green obtained remarkable rigidity results for manifolds of positive scalar curvature with large conjugate radius and/or injectivity radius. Using $C^{k,α}$ convergence techniques, we prove several differentiable stability and sphere theorem versions of these results and apply those also to the study of Einstein manifolds.
In this short note, we will prove a volume stability theorem which says that if an n-dimensional toric manifold $M$ admits a $\mathbb{T}^n$ invariant Kähler metric $ω$ with Ricci curvature no less than 1 and its volume is close to the volume of $\mathbb{CP}^n$, $M$ is bi-holomorphic to $\mathbb{CP}^n$.

We prove a Riemannian positive mass theorem for manifolds with a single asymptotically flat end, but otherwise arbitrary other ends, which can be incomplete and contain negative scalar curvature. The incompleteness and negativity is compensated for by large positive scalar curvature on an annulus, in a quantitative fashion. In the complete noncompact case with nonnegative scalar curvature, we have no extra assumption and hence prove a long-standing conjecture of Schoen and Yau.
For manifolds with a distinguished asymptotically flat end, we prove a density theorem which produces harmonic asymptotics on the distinguished end, while allowing for points of incompleteness (or negative scalar curvature) away from this end. We use this to improve the "quantitative" version of the positive mass theorem (in dimensions $3\leq n\leq 7$), obtained by the last two named authors with S.-T. Yau [LUY21], where stronger decay was assumed on the distinguished end. We also give an alternative proof of this theorem based on a relationship between MOTS and $μ$-bubbles and our recent work…
In this paper, we want to prove positive mass theorems for ALF and ALG manifolds with model spaces $\mathbb R^{n-1}\times \mathbb S^1$ and $\mathbb R^{n-2}\times \mathbb T^2$ respectively in dimensions no greater than $7$ (Theorem \ref{ALFPMT0}). { Different from the compatibility condition for spin structure in \cite[Theorem 2]{minerbe2008a}, we show that some type of incompressible condition for $\mathbb S^1$ and $\mathbb T^2$ is enough to guarantee the nonnegativity of the mass.} As in the asymptotically flat case, we reduce the desired positive mass theorems to those ones concerning non-ex…
It is shown that if the Kato constant of the negative part of the Ricci curvature below a positive level is small, then the volume of the corresponding manifold can be bounded above in terms of the Kato constant and the total Ricci curvature. Together with the results from [5] and [6], this yields a generalization of the famous Bonnet-Myers theorem. Connections to some earlier generalizations are discussed.
We solve the Jang equation with respect to asymptotically hyperbolic "hyperboloidal" initial data. The results are applied to give a non-spinor proof of the positive mass theorem in the asymptotically hyperbolic setting. This work focuses on the case when the spatial dimension is equal to three.
