We give the algebra of quasimodular forms a collection of Rankin-Cohen operators. These operators extend those defined by Cohen on modular forms and, as for modular forms, the first of them provide a Lie structure on quasimodular forms. They also satisfy a ``Leibniz rule'' for the usual derivation. Rankin-Cohen operators are useful for proving arithmetic identities. In particular we give an interpretation of the Chazy equation and explain why such an equation has to exist.
We study various properties of quasimodular forms by using their connections with Jacobi-like forms and pseudodifferential operators. Such connections are made by identifying quasimodular forms for a discrete subgroup $\G$ of $SL(2, \bR)$ with certain polynomials over the ring of holomorphic functions of the Poincaré upper half plane that are $\G$-invariant. We consider a surjective map from Jacobi-like forms to quasimodular forms and prove that it has a right inverse, which may be regarded as a lifting from quasimodular forms to Jacobi-like forms. We use such liftings to study Lie brackets an…
We investigate the cases for which products of two quasimodular or nearly holomorphic eigenforms are eigenforms. We also genaralize the results of Ghate \cite{ghate1} to the case of Rankin-Cohen brackets.
We construct and classify all Poisson structures on quasimodular forms that extend the one coming from the first Rankin-Cohen bracket on the modular forms. We use them to build formal deformations on the algebra of quasimodular forms.
We establish a correspondence between vector-valued modular forms with respect to a symmetric tensor representation and quasimodular forms. This is carried out by first obtaining an explicit isomorphism between the space of vector-valued modular forms with respect to a symmetric tensor representation and the space of finite sequences of modular forms of certain type. This isomorphism uses Rankin-Cohen brackets and extends a result of Kuga and Shimura, who considered the case of vector-valued modular forms of weight two. We also obtain a correspondence between such vector-valued modular forms a…
The aim in this paper is to give expressions for modular linear differential operators of any order. In particular, we show that they can all be described in terms of Rankin-Cohen brackets and a modified Rankin-Cohen bracket found by Kaneko and Koike. We also give more uniform descriptions of MLDOs in terms of canonically defined higher Serre derivatives and an extension of Rankin-Cohen brackets, as well as in terms of quasimodular forms and almost holomorphic modular forms. The last of these descriptions involves the holomorphic projection map. The paper also includes some general results on …
We use Rankin-Cohen brackets for modular forms and quasimodular forms to give a different proof of the results obtained by D. Lanphier and D. Niebur on the van der Pol type identities for the Ramanujan's tau function. As consequences we obtain convolution sums and congruence relations involving the divisor functions.
Given modular forms $f$ and $g$ of weights $k$ and $\ell$, respectively, their Rankin-Cohen bracket $[f,g]^{(k, \ell)}_n$ corresponding to a nonnegative integer $n$ is a modular form of weight $k +\ell +2n$, and it is given as a linear combination of the products of the form $f^{(r)} g^{(n-r)}$ for $0 \leq r \leq n$. We use a correspondence between quasimodular forms and sequences of modular forms to express the Dirichlet series of a product of derivatives of modular forms as a linear combination of the Dirichlet series of Rankin-Cohen brackets.
We give expressions for the Serre derivatives of Eisenstein and Poincaré series as well as their Rankin-Cohen brackets with arbitrary modular forms in terms of the Poincaré averaging construction, and derive several identities for the Ramanujan tau function as applications.
We use Maeda's Conjecture to prove that the Rankin-Cohen bracket of an eigenform and any modular form is only an eigenform when forced to be because of the dimensions of the underlying spaces. We further determine when the Rankin-Cohen bracket of an eigenform and modular form is not forced to produce an eigenform and when it is determined by the injectivity of the operator itself. This can also be interpreted as using the Rankin-Cohen bracket operator of eigenforms to create evidence for Maeda's Conjecture.
This work is devoted to the algebraic and arithmetic properties of Rankin-Cohen brackets allowing to define and study them in several natural situations of number theory. It focuses on the property of these brackets to be formal deformations of the algebras on which they are defined, with related questions on restriction-extension methods. The general algebraic results developed here are applied to the study of formal deformations of the algebra of weak Jacobi forms and their relation with the Rankin-Cohen brackets on modular and quasimodular forms.

For a fix modular form g and a non negative ineteger ν, by using Rankin-Cohen bracket we first define a linear map $T_{g,ν}$ on the space of modular forms. We explicitly compute the adjoint of this map and show that the n-th Fourier coefficients of the image of the cusp form f under this map is, upto a constant a special value of Rankin-Selberg convolution of f and g.
In the present note we discuss two different ring structures on the set of holomorphic discrete series of a causal symmetric space of Cayley type $G/H$ and we suggest a new interpretation of Rankin-Cohen brackets in terms of intertwining operators arising in the decomposition of tensor products of holomorphic discrete series representations.
Following Rankin's method, D. Zagier computed the $n$-th Rankin-Cohen bracket of a modular form $g$ of weight $k_1$ with the Eisenstein series of weight $k_2$ and then computed the inner product of this Rankin-Cohen bracket with a cusp form $f$ of weight $k = k_1+k_2+2n$ and showed that this inner product gives, upto a constant, the special value of the Rankin-Selberg convolution of $f$ and $g$. This result was generalized to Jacobi forms of degree 1 by Y. Choie and W. Kohnen. In this paper, we generalize this result to Jacobi forms defined over ${\mathcal H} \times {\mathbb C}^{(g, 1)}$.
We study Hilbert Poincaré series associated to general seed functions and construct Cohen's kernels and double Eisenstein series as series of Hilbert Poincaré series. Then we calculate the Rankin-Cohen brackets of Hilbert Poincaré series and Hilbert modular forms and extend Zagier's kernel formula to totally real number fields. Finally, we show that the Rankin-Cohen brackets of two different types of Eisenstein series are special values of double Eisenstein series up to a constant.
We settle in this paper a question left open in our paper ``Modular Hecke algebras and their Hopf symmetry'', by showing how to extend the Rankin-Cohen brackets from modular forms to modular Hecke algebras. More generally, our procedure yields such brackets on any associative algebra endowed with an action of the Hopf algebra of transverse geometry in codimension one, such that the derivation corresponding to the Schwarzian derivative is inner. Moreover, we show in full generality that these Rankin-Cohen brackets give rise to associative deformations.
For any positive integer $n$, we introduce a quasi-homogeneous vector field $\textsf{D}$ of degree $2$ on a moduli space $\textsf{T}$ of enhanced Calabi-Yau $n$-folds arising from the Dwork family. By Calabi-Yau quasi-modular forms for Dwork family we mean the elements of the graded $\mathbb{C}$-algebra $\widetilde{\mathcal{M}}$ generated by the components of a particular solution of $\textsf{D}$, which are provided with natural weight. Using $\textsf{D}$ we introduce the derivation $\mathcal{D}$ and the Ramanujan-Serre type derivation $\partial$ on $\widetilde{\mathcal{M}}$. We show that they…
We investigate so-called "higher" Siegel theta lifts on Lorentzian lattices in the spirit of Bruinier-Ehlen-Yang and Bruinier-Schwagenscheidt. We give a series representation of the lift in terms of Gauss hypergeometric functions, and evaluate the lift as the constant term of a Fourier series involving the Rankin-Cohen bracket of harmonic Maass forms and theta functions. Using the higher Siegel lifts, we obtain a vector-valued analogue of Mertens' result stating that the Rankin--Cohen bracket of the holomorphic part of a harmonic Maass form of weight $\frac{3}{2}$ and a unary theta function, p…
Part I. We prove a one-to-one correspondence between differential symmetry breaking operators for equivariant vector bundles over two homogeneous spaces and certain homomorphisms for representations of two Lie algebras, in connection with branching problems of the restriction of representations. We develop a new method (F-method) based on the algebraic Fourier transform for generalized Verma modules, which characterizes differential symmetry breaking operators by means of certain systems of partial differential equations. In contrast to the setting of real flag varieties, continuous symmetry b…
An elementary introduction to Hilbert modular forms, with a particular attention to their differential properties: Rankin-Cohen brakets, structure of differential rings... This text will appear in SMF Seminaires et Congres.
In this paper we will describe all vector-valued Siegel modular forms of degree 2 and weight ${\rm Sym}^6({\rm St}) \otimes \det^{k}({\rm St})$ with $k$ odd. These vector-valued forms constitute a module over the ring of classical Siegel modular forms of degree 2 and even weight and this module turns out to be free. In order to find generators, we generalize certain Rankin-Cohen differential operators on triples of classical Siegel modular forms that were first considered by Ibukiyama and we find a Rankin-Cohen bracket on vector-valued Siegel modular forms.
Using holomorphic projection, we work out a parametrization for all relations of products (resp. Rankin-Cohen brackets) of weight $\tfrac 32$ mock modular forms with holomorphic shadow and weight $\tfrac 12$ modular forms in the spirit of the Kronecker-Hurwitz class number relations. In particular we obtain new proofs for several class number relations among which some are classical, others are relatively new. We also obtain similar results for the mock theta functions.
The Rankin-Cohen bracket of two Eisenstein series provides a kernel yielding products of the periods of Hecke eigenforms at critical values. Extending this idea leads to a new type of Eisenstein series built with a double sum. We develop the properties of these series and their non-holomorphic analogs and show their connection to values of L-functions outside the critical strip.
Recently, Bruinier and Ono classified cusp forms $f(z) := \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} a_f(n)q ^n \in S_{λ+1/2}(Γ_0(N),χ)\cap \mathbb{Z}[[q]]$ that does not satisfy a certain distribution property for modulo odd primes $p$. In this paper, using Rankin-Cohen Bracket, we extend this result to modular forms of half integral weight for primes $p \geq 5$. As applications of our main theorem we derive distribution properties, for modulo primes $p\geq5$, of traces of singular moduli and Hurwitz class number. We also study an analogue of Newman's conjecture for overpartitions.
We develop two structure theorems for vector valued Siegel modular forms for Igusa's subgroup Γ_2[2,4], the multiplier system induced by the theta constants and the representation Sym^2. In the proof, we identify some of these modular forms with rational tensors with easily handleable poles on P^3\C. It follows that the observed modules of modular forms are generated by the Rankin-Cohen brackets of the four theta series of the second kind.
