We initiate a study of Hilbert modules over the polynomial algebra A=C[z_1,...,z_d] that are obtained by completing A with respect to an inner product having certain natural properties. A standard Hilbert module is a finite multiplicity version of one of these. Standard Hilbert modules occupy a position analogous to that of free modules of finite rank in commutative algebra, and their quotients by submodules give rise to universal solutions of nonlinear relations.
Essentially all of the basic Hilbert modules that have received attention over the years are standard - including the Hilbert module of the d-shift, the Hardy and Bergman modules of the unit ball, modules associated with more general domains in complex d-space, and those associated with projective algebraic varieties.
We address the general problem of determining when a quotient H/M of an essentially normal standard Hilbert module H is essentially normal. This problem has been resistant. Our main result is that it can be "linearized" in that the nonlinear relations defining the submodule M can be reduced, appropriately, to linear relations through an iteration procedure, and we give a concrete description of linearized quotients.
Let $\cl{M}$ be a Hilbert module of holomorphic functions over a natural function algebra $\mathcal{A}(Ω)$, where $Ω\subseteq \bb{C}^m$ is a bounded domain. Let $\cl{M}_0\subseteq \cl{M}$ be the submodule of functions vanishing to order $k$ on a hypersurface $\cl{Z} \subseteq Ω$. We describe a method, which in principle may be used, to construct a set of complete unitary invariants for quotient modules $\cl{Q}=\cl{M} \ominus \cl{M}_0$. The invariants are given explicitly in the particular case of $k = 2$.
In this paper, we present a unified approach to problems of tensor product of quotient modules of Hilbert modules over $\mathbb{C}[z]$ and corresponding submodules of reproducing kernel Hilbert modules over $\mathbb{C}[z_1, \ldots, z_n]$ and the doubly commutativity property of module multiplication operators by the coordinate functions. More precisely, for a reproducing kernel Hilbert module $\clh$ over $\mathbb{C}[z_1, \ldots, z_n]$ of analytic functions on the polydisc in $\mathbb{C}^n$ which satisfies certain conditions, we characterize the quotient modules $\q$ of $\clh$ such that $\q$ is…
In the present paper, we study the essential normality of quotient modules over the polydisc. It is shown that if the zero variety of homogenous ideal $I$ is a distinguished variety, then its quotient module is $(1,\infty)$-essentially normal. Moreover, we study the boundary representation of quotient modules.
We define a left quotient as well as a right quotient of two bounded operators between Hilbert spaces, and we parametrize these two concepts using the Moore-Penrose inverse. In particular, we show that the adjoint of a left quotient is a right quotient and conversely. An explicit formulae for computing left (resp. right) quotient which correspond to adjoint, sum, and product of given left (resp. right) quotient of two bounded operators are also shown.
In this paper, we consider the similarity and quasi-affinity problems for Hilbert modules in the Cowen-Douglas class associated with the complex geometric objects, the hermitian anti-holomorphic vector bundles and curvatures. Given a "simple" rank one Cowen-Douglas Hilbert module $\mathcal{M}$, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for a class of Cowen-Douglas Hilbert modules satisfying some positivity conditions to be similar to $\mathcal{M} \otimes \mathbb{C}^m$. We also show that under certain uniform bound condition on the anti-holomorphic frame, a Cowen-Douglas Hilbert module is qua…
The purpose of this paper is to study a class of quotient modules of the Hardy module $H^2(D^n)$. Along with the two variables quotient modules introduced by W. Rudin, we introduce and study a large class of quotient modules, namely Rudin's quotient modules of $H^2(D^n)$. By exploiting the structure of minimal representations we obtain an explicit co-rank formula for Rudin's quotient modules.
Continuing the research on the Banach-Saks and Schur properties started in (cf. M. Frank, A. A. Pavlov, Banach-Saks properties of C*-algebras and Hilbert C*-modules (submitted)) we investigate analogous properties in the module context. As an environment serves the class of Hilbert C*-modules. Some properties of weak module topologies on Hilbert C*-modules are described. Natural module analogues of the classical weak Banach-Saks and the classical Schur properties are defined and studied. A number of useful characterizations of properties of Hilbert C*-modules is obtained. In particular, some i…
We introduce the concept of frame of multipliers in Hilbert modules over pro-C*-algebras and show that many properties of frames in Hilbert C*-modules are valid for frames of multipliers in Hilbert modules over pro-C*-algebras.
In this paper, we investigate the structure of the multiplier module of a Hilbert module over a locally C*-algebra and the relationship between the set of all adjointable operators from a Hilbert A-module E to a Hilbert A-module F and the set of all adjointable operators from the multiplier module M(E)of E to the multiplier module M(F) of F.
In this paper, we introduce controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules and we show that they share many useful properties with their corresponding notions in Hilbert space. Next, we give a characterization of controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-module. Also multiplier operators for controlled frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules will be defined and some of its properties will be shown. Finally, we investigate weighted frames in Hilbert $C^*$-modules and verify their relations to controlled frames and multiplier operators.
Frame theory has a great revolution in recent years. This new Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert C*-modules. In this paper, we introduce the notion of dual *-K-g-frames in Hilbert A-modules. Lastly we study *-K-g-frames in tensor product of Hilbert C*-Modules and we establish some new results.
We show that every infinite-dimensional commutative unital C*-algebra has a Hilbert C*-module admitting no frames. In particular, this shows that Kasparov's stabilization theorem for countably generated Hilbert C*-modules can not be extended to arbitrary Hilbert C*-modules.
We construct an example of a Hilbert C*-module which shows that Troitsky's theorem on the geometrical essence of A-compact operators between Hilbert C*-modules is not extendable to a not countably generated module case (even in the case of a stronger uniform structure, which is also introduced). In addition, the constructed module admits no frames.
Frame Theory has a great revolution in recent years, this Theory have been extended from Hilbert spaces to Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. The purpose of this paper is the introduction and the study of the concept of Controlled Continuous g-Frames in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules. Also we give some properties.
Let $\mathbb{D}^n$ be the open unit polydisc in $\mathbb{C}^n$, $n \geq 1$, and let $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ be the Hardy space over $\mathbb{D}^n$. For $n\ge 3$, we show that if $θ\in H^\infty(\mathbb{D}^n)$ is an inner function, then the $n$-tuple of commuting operators $(C_{z_1}, \ldots, C_{z_n})$ on the Beurling type quotient module $\mathcal{Q}_θ$ is not essentially normal, where \[\mathcal{Q}_θ = H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)/ θH^2(\mathbb{D}^n) \quad \mbox{and} \quad C_{z_j} = P_{\mathcal{Q}_θ} M_{z_j}|_{\mathcal{Q}_θ}\quad (j = 1, \ldots, n).\] Rudin's quotient modules of $H^2(\mathbb{D}^2)$ are also s…
Motivated from the theory of Hilbert-Schmidt morphisms between Hilbert C*-modules over commutative C*-algebras by Stern and van Suijlekom \textit{[J. Funct. Anal., 2021]}, we introduce the notion of p-absolutely summing morphisms between Hilbert C*-modules over commutative C*-algebras. We show that an adjointable morphism between Hilbert C*-modules over monotone closed commutative C*-algebra is 2-absolutely summing if and only if it is Hilbert-Schmidt. We formulate version of Pietsch factorization problem for p-absolutely summing morphisms and solve partially
The aim of this paper is to present a unified framework in the setting of Hilbert $C^*$-modules for the scalar- and vector-valued reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces and $C^*$-valued reproducing kernel spaces. We investigate conditionally negative definite kernels with values in the $C^*$-algebra of adjointable operators acting on a Hilbert $C^*$-module. In addition, we show that there exists a two-sided connection between positive definite kernels and reproducing kernel Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Furthermore, we explore some conditions under which a function is in the reproducing kernel module and …
In this paper we introduce a notion of Morita equivalence for Hilbert C*-modules in terms of the Morita equivalence of the algebras of compact operators on Hilbert C*-modules. We investigate some properties of the new version of Morita equivalence and obtain some results. We then applied our results to study the continuous actions of locally compact groups on full Hilbert C*-modules. We present an extension of Green's theorem in the context of Hilbert C*-modules as well.
In this paper we study the unitary equivalence between Hilbert modules over a locally C*-algebra. Also, we prove a stabilization theorem for countably generated modules over an arbitrary locally C*-algebra and show that a Hilbert module over a Frechet locally C*-algebra is countably generated if and only if the locally C*-algebra of all ''compact'' operators has an approximate unit.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of Continuous $\ast$-g-Frame in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-Modules and we establish some results. We also discuss the stability problem for Continuous $\ast$-g-Frame.
In this papers we investigate the g-frame and Bessel g-sequence related to a linear bounded operator $K$ in Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-module and we establish some results.
We study general Hilbert modules over the disc algebra and exhibit necessary spectral conditions for the vanishing of certain associated extension groups. In particular, this sheds some light on the problem of identifying the projective Hilbert modules. Part of our work also addresses the classical derivation problem.
In this paper, we study the representation of orthogonally additive mappings acting on Hilbert $C^*$-modules and Hilbert $H^*$-modules. One of our main results shows that every continuous orthogonally additive mapping $f$ from a Hilbert module $W$ over $\K(\H)$ or $\H§(\H)$ to a complex normed space is of the form $f(x)=T(x)+Φ(< x, x >)$ for all $x\in W$, where $T$ is a continuous additive mapping, and $Φ$ is a continuous linear mapping.
In this paper we present results concerning orthogonality in Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Moreover, for a $C^*$-algebra $\mathscr{A}$, we prove theorems concerning the multi-$\mathscr{A}$-linearity and its preservation by $\mathscr{A}$-linear operators. New version of solution of the orthogonality equation on Hilbert $C^*$-modules and mappings preserving orthogonality are also investigated.
In this paper, we study $\ast$-g-frames in tensor products of Hilbert $C^{\ast}$-modules. We show that a tensor product of two $\ast$-g-frames is a $\ast$-g-frames, and we get some result.
In this paper we prove a version of Gruss integral inequality for mappings with values in Hilbert C*-modules. Some applications for such functions are also given.
Frames play significant role in various areas of science and engineering. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of frames for $End_{\mathcal{A}}^{\ast}(\mathcal{H, K})$ and their generalizations. Moreover, we obtain some new results for generalized frames in Hilbert modules.
It is shown that every linear surjective isometry between two right, full, Hilbert C*-modules is a sum of two maps : a (bi-) module map (which is completely isometric and preserves the inner product) and a map that reverses the (bi-) module actions. Every such isometry can be extended to an isometry of the C* linking algebras.
In this paper the concept of unbounded Fredholm operators on Hilbert C*- modules over an arbitrary C*-algebra is discussed and the Atkinson theorem is generalized for bounded and unbounded Feredholm operators on Hilbert C*-modules over C*-algebras of compact operators. In the framework of Hilbert C*-modules over C*-algebras of compact operators, the index of an unbounded Fredholm operator and the index of its bounded transform are the same.
In this paper we establish the semi-Fredholm theory on Hilbert C*-modules as a continuation of Fredholm theory on Hilbert C*-modules established by Mishchenko and Fomenko. We give a definition of a semi-Fredholm operator on Hilbert C*-module and prove that these semi-Fredholm operators are those that are one-sided invertible modulo compact operators, that the set of proper semi-Fredholm operators is open and many other results that generalize their classical counterparts.
Regarding the generalizations of the Bessel inequality in Hilbert spaces which are due to Bombiari and Boas--Bellman, we obtain a version of the Bessel inequality and some generalizations of this inequality in the framework of Hilbert $C^*$-modules.
The parallel sum for adjoinable operators on Hilbert $C^*$-modules is introduced and studied. Some results known for matrices and bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces are generalized to the case of adjointable operators on Hilbert $C^*$-modules. It is shown that there exist a Hilbert $C^*$-module $H$ and two positive operators $A, B\in\mathcal{L}(H)$ such that the operator equation $A^{1/2}=(A+B)^{1/2}X, X\in \cal{L}(H)$ has no solution, where $\mathcal{L}(H)$ denotes the set of all adjointable operators on $H$.
We introduce a preorder relation in the collection of all operator valued completely positive maps on a full Hilbert C*-module and characterize this relation in terms of the Stinespring construction associated to each completely positive map.
Let $A$ be a simple C*-algebra of stable rank one and let $p$ and $q$ be two $σ$-compact open projections. It is proved that there is a continuous path of unitaries in ${\tilde A}$ which connects open sub-projections of $p$ which is compactly contained in $p$ to those in $q.$ It is also shown that every Hilbert module is projective in the category whose morphisms are bounded module maps with adjoints. A discussion of projective Hilbert modules (whose morphisms are bounded module maps) is also given.
Let $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ denote the Hardy space over the polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$, $n \geq 2$. A closed subspace $\mathcal{Q} \subseteq H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ is called Beurling quotient module if there exists an inner function $θ\in H^\infty(\mathbb{D}^n)$ such that $\mathcal{Q} = H^2(\mathbb{D}^n) /θH^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$. We present a complete characterization of Beurling quotient modules of $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$: Let $\mathcal{Q} \subseteq H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ be a closed subspace, and let $C_{z_i} = P_{\mathcal{Q}} M_{z_i}|_{\mathcal{Q}}$, $i=1, \ldots, n$. Then $\mathcal{Q}$ is a Beurling quotient mod…
In this article, we study tensor product of Hilbert $C^*$-modules and Hilbert spaces. We show that if $E$ is a Hilbert $A$-module and $F$ is a Hilbert $B$-module, then tensor product of frames (orthonormal bases) for $E$ and $F$ produce frames (orthonormal bases) for Hilbert $A\otimes B$-module $E\otimes F$, and we get more results. For Hilbert spaces $H$ and $K$, we study tensor product of frames of subspaces for $H$ and $K$, tensor product of resolutions of the identities of $H$ and $K$, and tensor product of frame representations for $H$ and $K$.
In this paper, we define the notion of induced representations of a Hilbert $C^{*}$-module and we show that Morita equivalence of two Hilbert modules (in the sense of Moslehian and Joita), implies the equivalence of categories of non-degenerate representations of two Hilbert modules.
Recently, Bhat, Liebscher and Skeide exhibited an unusual example of product system of Hilbert $C^*$ modules. Namely, a subsystem of a Fock system, that is not Fock. Later, the authors defined the index of any product system of Hilbert $C^*$-modules, generalizing earlier partial definitions. In this note we compute the index of the mentioned interesting subsystem, and also we determine all its units.
Analogues for Hilbert C*-modules of classical results of Fourier series theory in Hilbert spaces are considered. Relations between different properties of orthogonal and orthonormal systems for Hilbert C*-modules are studied with special attention paid on the differences with the well-known Hilbert space situation.
Let A be a C*-algebra and I a closed two-sided ideal of A. We use the Hilbert C*-modules picture of the Cuntz semigroup to investigate the relations between the Cuntz semigroups of I, A and A/I. We obtain a relation on two elements of the Cuntz semigroup of A that characterizes when they are equal in the Cuntz semigroup of A/I. As a corollary, we show that the Cuntz semigroup functor is exact. Replacing the Cuntz equivalence relation of Hilbert modules by their isomorphism, we obtain a generalization of Kasparov's Stabilization theorem.
A Hilbert $C^*$-quad module of finite type has a multi structure of Hilbert $C^*$-bimodules with two finite bases. We will construct a $C^*$-algebra from a Hilbert $C^*$-quad module of finite type and prove its universality subject to certain relations among generators. Some examples of the $C^*$-algebras from Hilbert $C^*$-quad modules of finite type will be presented.
We provided an analogue Banach-Alaoglu theorem for Hilbert $H^*$-module. We construct a $Λ$-weak$^*$ topology on a Hilbert $H^*$-module over a proper $H^*$-algebra $Λ$, such that the unit ball is compact with respect to $Λ$-weak$^*$ topology.
In this paper we view some fundamentals of the theory of Hilbert C*-modules and examine some ways in which Hilbert C*-modules differ from Hilbert spaces.
It is shown that the metric on the union of the sets $X$ and $Y$ defines a Hilbert $C^*$-module over the uniform Roe algebra of the space $X$ with a fixed metric $d_X$. A number of examples of such Hilbert $C^*$-modules are described.
We generalize some results on compact operators on Hilbert spaces to "compact" operators on some Hilbert right W*-modules. We present in this frame the Schatten decomposition of the compact operators, the trace, the Banach Lp-spaces and their duals, the Hilbert-Schmitt operators, and the integral operators as an example of Hilbert-Schmitt operators.
In this paper, we characterize a class of additive maps on Hilbert $C^\ast$-modules which maps a "rank one" adjointable operators to another rank one operators.
The two reference lists contain 54/22 references of papers and preprints concerned with the theory and/or various applications of Hilbert modules over Hilbert $*$-algebras and over (non-self-adjoint) operator algebras. They are far from being complete, but they give additional information about two research fields which are closely related to the theory of Hilbert C*-modules, i.e. they are complements to the reference guide about this circle of problems. Any additions, corrections and forthcoming information are welcome.
Theory of extensions of Hilbert C*-modules was developed by D. Bakic and B. Guljas. An easy observation shows that in the case, when the underlying C*-algebra extension is commutative and the Hilbert C*-modules are projective of finite type, the algebraic properties of the corresponding Busby invariant allow to identify extensions with isometric maps of the corresponding vector bundles. When the Hilbert C*-modules are free of rank one, we evaluate the set of extensions in topological terms.
We study induced representations of Hilbert modules over locally C*-algebras and their non-degeneracy. We show that if $V$ and $W$ are Morita equivalent Hilbert modules over locally C*-algebras $A$ and $B$, respectively, then there exists a bijective correspondence between equivalence classes of non-degenerate representations of $V$ and $W$.
Rigged modules over an operator algebra are a generalization of Hilbert modules over a $C^{\star}$-algebra. We characterize the rigged modules over an operator algebra $\mathcal A$ which are orthogonally complemented in $C_\infty(\mathcal A),$ the space of infinite columns with entries in $\mathcal A.$ We show that every such rigged module `restricts' to a bimodule of Morita equivalence between appropriate stably isomorphic operator algebras.
The authors have recently shown how direct limits of Hilbert spaces can be used to construct multi-resolution analyses and wavelets in $L^2(\R)$. Here they investigate similar constructions in the context of Hilbert modules over $C^*$-algebras. For modules over $C(\T^n)$, the results shed light on work of Packer and Rieffel on projective multi-resolution analyses for specific Hilbert $C(\T^n)$-modules of functions on $\R^n$. There are also new applications to modules over $C(C)$ when $C$ is the infinite path space of a directed graph.
We provide a characterization for operator valued completely bounded linear maps on Hilbert $C^*$-modules in terms of $φ$-maps. Also, we show that for every operator valued completely positive map $φ$ on a $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$, there is a unique (up to multiplication by a unitary operator) non-degenerate $φ$-map on each Hilbert $\mathcal{A}$-module.
The aim of this article is to extend the results of Asadi M.B, B.V.R. Bhat, G. Ramesh, K. Sumesh about completely positive maps on Hilbert C*-modules. We prove a Stinespring type theorem for a finite family of completely positive maps on Hilbert C*-modules. We also show that any two minimal Stinespring representations are unitarily equivalent.
In this paper, we show that every completely semi-$ϕ$-map on a submodule of a Hilbert $C^*$-module has a completely semi-$ϕ$-map extension on the whole of module. We also investigate the extendability of $ϕ$-maps and provide examples of $ϕ$-maps which has no $ϕ$-map extension. Finally, we introduce a category of Hilbert $C^*$-module and determine injective objects in this category.
In the present paper the notion of a Hilbert module over a locally C*-algebra is discussed and some results are obtained on this matter. In particular, we give a detailed proof of the known result that the set of adjointable endomorphisms of such modules is itself a locally C*-algebra.
