Let $\cl{M}$ be a Hilbert module of holomorphic functions over a natural function algebra $\mathcal{A}(Ω)$, where $Ω\subseteq \bb{C}^m$ is a bounded domain. Let $\cl{M}_0\subseteq \cl{M}$ be the submodule of functions vanishing to order $k$ on a hypersurface $\cl{Z} \subseteq Ω$. We describe a method, which in principle may be used, to construct a set of complete unitary invariants for quotient modules $\cl{Q}=\cl{M} \ominus \cl{M}_0$. The invariants are given explicitly in the particular case of $k = 2$.
We initiate a study of Hilbert modules over the polynomial algebra A=C[z_1,...,z_d] that are obtained by completing A with respect to an inner product having certain natural properties. A standard Hilbert module is a finite multiplicity version of one of these. Standard Hilbert modules occupy a position analogous to that of free modules of finite rank in commutative algebra, and their quotients by submodules give rise to universal solutions of nonlinear relations. Essentially all of the basic Hilbert modules that have received attention over the years are standard - including the Hilbert modul…
In this paper, we present a unified approach to problems of tensor product of quotient modules of Hilbert modules over $\mathbb{C}[z]$ and corresponding submodules of reproducing kernel Hilbert modules over $\mathbb{C}[z_1, \ldots, z_n]$ and the doubly commutativity property of module multiplication operators by the coordinate functions. More precisely, for a reproducing kernel Hilbert module $\clh$ over $\mathbb{C}[z_1, \ldots, z_n]$ of analytic functions on the polydisc in $\mathbb{C}^n$ which satisfies certain conditions, we characterize the quotient modules $\q$ of $\clh$ such that $\q$ is…
In this paper we introduce a notion of Morita equivalence for Hilbert C*-modules in terms of the Morita equivalence of the algebras of compact operators on Hilbert C*-modules. We investigate some properties of the new version of Morita equivalence and obtain some results. We then applied our results to study the continuous actions of locally compact groups on full Hilbert C*-modules. We present an extension of Green's theorem in the context of Hilbert C*-modules as well.
In this paper, we consider the similarity and quasi-affinity problems for Hilbert modules in the Cowen-Douglas class associated with the complex geometric objects, the hermitian anti-holomorphic vector bundles and curvatures. Given a "simple" rank one Cowen-Douglas Hilbert module $\mathcal{M}$, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for a class of Cowen-Douglas Hilbert modules satisfying some positivity conditions to be similar to $\mathcal{M} \otimes \mathbb{C}^m$. We also show that under certain uniform bound condition on the anti-holomorphic frame, a Cowen-Douglas Hilbert module is qua…
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^m$ be an open, connected and bounded set and $\mathcal{A}(Ω)$ be a function algebra of holomorphic functions on $Ω$. In this article we study quotient Hilbert modules obtained from submodules, consisting of functions in $\mathcal{M}$ vanishing to order $k$ along a smooth irreducible complex analytic set $\mathcal{Z}\subsetΩ$ of codimension at least $2$, of a quasi-free Hilbert module, $\mathcal{M}$. Our motive is to investigate unitary invariants of such quotient modules. We completely determine unitary equivalence of aforementioned quotient modules and relate it to ge…
For operators on Hilbert spaces of any dimension, we show that equivalence after extension coincides with equivalence after one-sided extension, thus obtaining a proof of their coincidence with Schur coupling. We also provide a concrete description of this equivalence relation in several cases, in particular for compact operators.
A well-known theorem due to R. E. Curto and N. Salinas gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the unitary equivalence of commuting tuples of bounded linear operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Inspired by this theorem, we obtain a different but equivalent criterion for the unitary equivalence of operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. As an application, we describe the structure of intertwining operator and prove that the decomposition of Cowen-Douglas operators is unique up to unitary equivalence.
In topological equivalence, a bounded linear operator between Banach spaces - we focus on the case of Hilbert spaces - is viewed as only acting linearly and continuously between them qua different spaces with the structure of linear topological space. For instance, invertible operators in Banach spaces (that is, isomorphisms among them) will make up one equivalence class for each class of isomorphic spaces. On the other hand, compact and non-compact operators, or operators with or without a kernel, clearly will not. We make some crucial steps towards describing invariants that will characteriz…
We give a direct proof of the fact that a quasi-Banach space coarsely embeds into a Hilbert space if and only if it uniformly embeds into a Hilbert space.
For any open, connected and bounded set $Ω\subseteq \mathbb C^m$, let $\mathcal A$ be a natural function algebra consisting of functions holomorphic on $Ω$. Let $\mathcal M$ be a Hilbert module over the algebra $\mathcal A$ and $\mathcal M_0\subseteq \mathcal M$ be the submodule of functions vanishing to order $k$ on a hypersurface $\mathcal Z \subseteq Ω$. Recently the authors have obtained an explicit complete set of unitary invariants for the quotient module $\mathcal Q = \mathcal M \ominus \mathcal M_0$ in the case of $k=2$. In this paper, we relate these invariants to familiar notions fro…
Let $(X,μ)$ be a strictly-positive Borel measure space. We show that the modes of convergence in a reproducing kernel Hilbert (RKHS) space, pointwise, weak and strong are all equivalents. From this we describe some important consequences such as an association with positive operators and positive definite kernels and a compact embedding condition for a RKHS in $L^{2}(X,μ)$.
It is known that two Banach space operators that are Schur coupled are also equivalent after extension, or equivalently, matricially coupled. The converse implication, that operators which are equivalent after extension or matricially coupled are also Schur coupled, was only known for Fredholm Hilbert space operators and Fredholm Banach space operators with index 0. We prove that this implication also holds for Hilbert space operators with closed range, generalizing the result for Fredholm operators, and Banach space operators that can be approximated in operator norm by invertible operators. …
We study a new notion of trace operators and trace spaces for abstract Hilbert complexes. We introduce trace spaces as quotient spaces/annihilators. We characterize the kernels and images of the related trace operators and discuss duality relationships between trace spaces. We elaborate that many properties of the classical boundary traces associated with the Euclidean de Rham complex on bounded Lipschitz domains are rooted in the general structure of Hilbert complexes. We arrive at abstract trace Hilbert complexes that can be formulated using quotient spaces/annihilators. We show that, if a H…
In this paper we construct a class of homogeneous Hilbert modules over the disc algebra $\mathcal{A}(\mathbb D)$ as quotients of certain natural modules over the function algebra $\mathcal{A}(\mathbb D^2)$. These quotient modules are described using the jet construction for Hilbert modules. We show that the quotient modules obtained this way, belong to the class ${\mathrm B}_k(\mathbb D)$ and that they are mutually inequivalent, irreducible and homogeneous.
We show that Rochberg's generalizared interpolation spaces $\mathscr Z^{(n)}$ arising from analytic families of Banach spaces form exact sequences $0\to \mathscr Z^{(n)} \to \mathscr Z^{(n+k)} \to \mathscr Z^{(k)} \to 0$. We study some structural properties of those sequences; in particular, we show that nontriviality, having strictly singular quotient map, or having strictly cosingular embedding depend only on the basic case $n=k=1$. If we focus on the case of Hilbert spaces obtained from the interpolation scale of $\ell_p$ spaces, then $\mathscr Z^{(2)}$ becomes the well-known Kalton-Peck $Z…
