In a deformation quantization of $\Real^n$, the Jacobi identity is automatically satisfied. This article poses the contrary question: Given a set of commutators which satisfies the Jacobi identity, is the resulting associative algebra a deformation quantization of $\Real^n$? It is shown that the result is true. However care must taken when stating precisely how and in which algebra the Jacobi identity is satisfied.
After a presentation of the context and a brief reminder of deformation quantization, we indicate how the introduction of natural topological vector space topologies on Hopf algebras associated with Poisson Lie groups, Lie bialgebras and their doubles explains their dualities and provides a comprehensive framework. We give a new construction of strict deformation quantization of symplectic manifolds equipped with a proper Lagrangian fiber bundle structure, whose representation spaces are the quantum Hilbert spaces obtained by geometric quantization. The construction can be regarded as a "lattice approximation of the correspondence between differential operators and principal symbols". We analyze the corresponding formal deformation quantization. We also investigate into relations between our construction and Berezin-Toeplitz deformation quantization.

We extend Fedosov deformation quantization to general contact manifolds. Unlike the case of symplectic manifolds, not every classical observable on a contact manifold is generally quantized. On examination of possible obstructions to quantization, we obtain some new invariants of contact manifolds.

We give a complete identification of the deformation quantization which was obtained from the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization on an arbitrary compact Kaehler manifold. The deformation quantization with the opposite star-product proves to be a differential deformation quantization with separation of variables whose classifying form is explicitly calculated. Its characteristic class (which classifies star-products up to equivalence) is obtained. The proof is based on the microlocal description of the Szegoe kernel of a strictly pseudoconvex domain given by Boutet de Monvel and Sjoestrand.
In this dissertation the notion of deformation quantization of principal fibre bundles is established and investigated in order to find a geometric formulation of classical gauge theories on noncommutative space-times. As a generalization, the notion of deformation quantization of surjective submersions is also discussed. In this review an overview on some recent developments in deformation quantization is given. After a general historical overview we motivate the basic definitions of star products and their equivalences both from a mathematical and a physical point of view. Then we focus on two topics: the Morita classification of star product algebras and convergence issues which lead to the nuclear Weyl algebra.
Deformation quantization produces families of mathematically equivalent quantization procedures from which one must select the physically meaningful ones. As a selection principle we propose that the procedure must allow enough `observable' energy distributions, i.e., ones for which no pure quantum state will appear with negative probability and must further have the property that for these the uncertainty in the probability distribution of the quantum states must not exceed that of the original distribution. For arbitrary compact quantizable Kaehler manifolds it is shown how a natural formal deformation quantization (star product) can be obtained via Berezin-Toeplitz operators. Results on their semi-classical behaviour (their asymptotic expansion) due to Bordemann, Meinrenken and Schlichenmaier are used in an essential manner. It is shown that the star product is null on constants and fulfills parity. A trace is constructed and the relation to deformation quantization by geometric quantization is given.
The description of all deformation quantizations with separation of variables on a Kaehler manifold obtained in our earlier paper is used to identify the Fedosov star-product of Wick type constructed by M. Bordemann and S. Waldmann. This star-product is shown to be the one with separation of variables which corresponds to the trivial deformation of the Kaehler form. To this end a formal Fock bundle on a Kaehler manifold is introduced and an associative multiplication on its sections is defined.
Deformation Theory is a natural generalization of Lie Theory, from Lie groups and their linearization, Lie algebras, to differential graded Lie algebras and their higher order deformations, quantum groups. The article focuses on two basic constructions of deformation theory: the universal solution of Maurer-Cartan Equation (MCE), which plays the role of the exponential of Lie Theory, and its inverse, the Kuranishi functor, as the logarithm. We examine some issues that arise in the q-deformation of a gauge theory. If the deformation is carried out by replacing the equal time commutators of free fields by the corresponding q-commutators, the resulting propagators are not very much different from those of the undeformed theory as long as one is dealing with weak fields; but the theory still violates causality. If one postulates a q-deformed S matrix, the corresponding q-causal commutator has 2 poles of different strength and the result again amounts to a deformation of the Lorentz group.
In this paper, we initiate the study of a parametrised version of Rieffel's strict deformation quantization. We apply it to give a classification of noncommutative principal torus bundles, in terms of parametrised strict deformation quantization of ordinary principal torus bundles. The paper also contains a putative definition of noncommutative non-principal torus bundles.
We construct a canonical deformation quantization for symplectic supermanifolds. This gives a novel proof of the super-analogue of Fedosov quantization. Our proof uses the formalism of Gelfand-Kazhdan descent, whose foundations we establish in the super-symplectic setting.
Ricci-type symplectic manifolds have been introduced and extensively studied by M. Cahen et al.. In this note, we describe their deformation quantizations in the split solvable symmetric case. Robertson and Hadamard-Robertson theorems on non-negative definite hermitian forms are generalized to an arbitrary ordered field. These results are then applied to the case of formal power series fields, and the Heisenberg-Robertson, Robertson-Schrödinger and trace uncertainty relations in deformation quantization are found. Some conditions under which the uncertainty relations are minimized are also given.
Using a derivative decomposition of the Hochschild differential complex we define a generalized inverse of the Hochschild coboundary operator. It can be applied for systematic computations of star products on Poisson manifolds.
We outline how Drinfeld twist deformation techniques can be applied to the deformation quantization of principal bundles into noncommutative principal bundles, and more in general to the deformation of Hopf-Galois extensions. First we twist deform the structure group in a quantum group, and this leads to a deformation of the fibers of the principal bundle. In this paper, we initiate the study of nonassociative strict deformation quantization of C*-algebras with a torus action. We shall also present a definition of nonassociative principal torus bundles, and give a classification of these as nonassociative strict deformation quantization of ordinary principal torus bundles. We then relate this to T-duality of principal torus bundles with $H$-flux. We also show that the Octonions fit nicely into our theory.

This note is an overview of the Poisson sigma model (PSM) and its applications in deformation quantization. Reduction of coisotropic and pre-Poisson submanifolds, their appearance as branes of the PSM, quantization in terms of L-infinity and A-infinity algebras, and bimodule structures are recalled. As an application, an "almost" functorial quantization of Poisson maps is presented if no anomalies occur. This leads in principle to a novel approach for the quantization of Poisson-Lie groups.

We give simple explicit formulas for deformation quantization of Poisson-Lie groups and of similar Poisson manifolds which can be represented as moduli spaces of flat connections on surfaces. The star products depend on a choice of Drinfeľd associator and are obtained by applying certain monoidal functors (fusion and reduction) to commutative algebras in Drinfeľd categories. From a geometric point of view this construction can be understood as a quantization of the quasi-Poisson structures on moduli spaces of flat connections.
Second quantization of a classical nonrelativistic one-particle system as a deformation quantization of the Schrodinger spinless field is considered. Under the assumption that the phase space of the Schrodinger field is $C^{\infty}$, both, the Weyl-Wigner-Moyal and Berezin deformation quantizations are discussed and compared. We study deformation quantization on an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space $W$ endowed with its canonical Poisson structure. The standard example of the Moyal star-product is made explicit and it is shown that it is well defined on a subalgebra of $C^\infty(W)$. A classification of inequivalent deformation quantizations of exponential type, containing the Moyal and normal star-products, is also given.
Motivated by the problem of deformation quantization we introduce and study directed graph complexes with oriented loops and wheels. We develop some technique for computing cohomology of such graph complexes and apply it to several concrete examples such as wheeled completion of the operad of strongly homotopy Lie algebras and the wheeled completion of the dg prop of Poisson structures. We prove also a deformation quantization theorem of wheeled Poisson structures on arbitrary formal graded manifolds.
We introduce dg Lie algebras controlling the deformations of vertex algebras and vertex Poisson algebras, utilizing the notion of operadic dg Lie algebra and the theory of chiral algebra. In terms of those dg Lie algebras, we formulate the deformation quantization problem of vertex Poisson algebras to vertex algebras.
This is the first in a series of articles devoted to deformation quantization of gerbes. Here we give basic definitions and interpret deformations of a given gerbe as Maurer-Cartan elements of a differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA). We classify all deformations of a given gerbe on a symplectic manifold, as well as provide a deformation-theoretic interpretation of the first Rozansky-Witten class.
We demonstrate the main idea of constructing irreducible unitary representations of Lie groups by using Fedosov deformation quantization in the concrete case of the group Aff(R) of affine transformations of the real straight line. By an exact computation of the star-product and the operator $\hat{\ell}_Z$, we show that the resulting representations exhausted all the irreducible representations of this groups.
