This paper is an expanded and updated version of the preprint arXiv:math/0406499. It includes a more detailed description of the basics of the theory of Cherednik and Hecke algebras of varieties started in arXiv:math/0406499, as well as a new Section 4, which reviews the developments in this theory since 2004 with references to the relevant literature.
Let $G$ be a finite group of linear transformations of a finite dimensional complex vector space $V$. To this data one can attach a family of algebras $H_{t,c}(V,G)$, parametrized by complex numbers $t$ and conjugation invariant functions $c$ on the set of complex reflections in $G$, which are called rational Cherednik algebras. These algebras have been studied for over 15 years and revealed a rich structure and deep connections with algebraic geometry, representation theory, and combinatorics. In this paper, we define global analogs of Cherednik algebras, attached to any smooth algebraic or analytic variety $X$ with a finite group $G$ of automorphisms. We show that many interesting properties of Cherednik algebras (such as the PBW theorem, universal deformation property, relation to Calogero-Moser spaces, action on quasiinvariants) still hold in the global case, and give several interesting examples. Then we define the KZ functor for global Cherednik algebras, and use it to define (in the case $π_2(X)\otimes \Bbb Q=0$) a flat deformation of the orbifold fundamental group of the orbifold $X/G$, which we call the Hecke algebra of $X/G$. This includes usual, affine, and double affine Hecke algebras for Weyl groups, Hecke algebras of complex reflection groups, as well as many new examples.
The goal of this paper is to define a new class of objects which we call triple groups and to relate them with Cherednik's double affine Hecke algebras. This has as immediate consequences new descriptions of double affine Weyl and Artin groups, the double affine Hecke algebras as well as the corresponding elliptic objects. From the new descriptions we recover results of Cherednik on automorphisms of double affine Hecke algebras.
In this note we determine the values of parameters c for which the polynomial representation of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra (DAHA), i.e. the trigonometric Cherednik algebra, is reducible. Namely, we show that c is a reducibility point for the polynomial representation of the trigonometric Cherednik algebra for a root system R if and only if it is a reducibility point for the rational Cherednik algebra for the Weyl group of some root subsystem R' of R of the same rank; such subsystems for any R are given by the well known Borel-de Siebenthal algorithm. This result has been proved…
We study a connection between the representation theory of the rational Cherednik algebra of type $GL_n$ and the representation theory of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra (the degenerate DAHA). We focus on an algebra embedding from the rational Cherednik algebra to the degenerate DAHA and investigate the induction functor through this embedding. We prove that this functor embeds the category ${\mathcal O}$ for the rational Cherednik algebra fully faithfully into the category ${\mathcal O}$ for the degenerate DAHA. We also study the full subcategory ${\mathcal O}^{ss}$ of ${\mathcal O…
Cherednik's quantum affine Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations associated to an affine Hecke algebra module M form a holonomic system of q-difference equations acting on M-valued functions on a complex torus T. In this paper the quantum affine Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations are related to the Cherednik-Macdonald theory when M is induced from a character of a standard parabolic subalgebra of the affine Hecke algebra. We set up correspondences between solutions of the quantum affine KZ equations and, on the one hand, solutions to the spectral problem of the Cherednik-Dunkl q-difference reflection…
We prove that the KZ functor from a certain category of modules for the Cherednik algebra to finite dimensional modules over the Hecke algebra is essentially surjective. Then we begin to use this result to study the analog of category O for Cherednik algebras on Riemann surfaces and on products of elliptic curves. In particular we give conditions on the parameters under which these categories are nonzero.
We give an interpretation of the double affine Hecke algebra of Cherednik as the (suitably regularized) algebra of double cosets of a group G by a subgroup J, extending the well known interpretations of finite and affine Hecke algebras. In this interpretation, G consists of K-points of a split reductive group where K is a 2-dimensional local field such as Q_p((t)) or F_q((t_1))((t_2)), and J is a certain analog of the Iwahori subgroup.
Hecke algebras are usually defined algebraically, via generators and relations. We give a new algebro-geometric construction of affine and double-affine Hecke algebras (the former is known as the Iwahori-Hecke algebra, and the latter was introduced by Cherednik [Ch1]). More generally, to any generalized Cartan matrix A and a point q in a 1-dimensional complex algebraic group \c we associate an associative algebra H. If A is of finite type and \c=C^*, the algebra H is the affine Hecke algebra of the corresponding finite root system. If A is of affine type and \c=C^* then H is, essentially, the …
We study the category O of representations of the rational Cherednik algebra A attached to a complex reflection group W. We construct an exact functor, called Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov functor, from O to the category of H-modules, where H is the (finite) Iwahori-Hecke algebra associated to W. We prove that the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov functor induces an equivalence between O/O_tor, the quotient of O by the subcategory of A-modules supported on the discriminant and the category of finite-dimensional H-modules. The standard A-modules go, under this equivalence, to certain modules arising in Kazhdan-L…
We give an intepretation of the Cremmer-Gervais r-matrices for sl(n) in terms of actions of elements in the rational and trigonometric Cherednik algebras of type GL2 on certain subspaces of their polynomial representations. This is used to compute the nilpotency index of the Jordanian r-matrices, thus answering a question of Gerstenhaber and Giaquinto. We also give an interpretation of the Cremmer-Gervais quantization in terms of the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra.
We study canonical intertwining operators between modules of the trigonometric Cherednik algebra, induced from the standard modules of the degenerate affine Hecke algebra. We show that these operators correspond to the Zhelobenko operators for the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_m$. To establish the correspondence, we use the functor of Arakawa, Suzuki and Tsuchiya which maps certain $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_m$-modules to modules of the Cherednik algebra.
We study a generalization of graded Hecke algebras introduced by Drinfeld in 1986, in which the role of a finite group G is played by a reductive algebraic group. This includes continuous generalizations of symplectic reflection algebras and of rational Cherednik algebras. We prove direct and converse PBW theorems, and also study versions of our algebras in which the group G is replaced with its Lie algebra. We also begin to develop the representation theory of continuous Hecke algebras, which unifies representation theories of real reductive groups, Drinfeld-Lusztig degenerate affine Hecke al…
In this paper we give a geometric construction of Cherednik's double affine Hecke algebra. We construct the algebra as the equivariant $K$-theory of the Lagrangian subvariety of the cotangent variety of the square of the flag variety of $G$, the variety being given by the union of the conormal bundles to the $G$-orbits on $\flag\times\flag$. This is a generalisation of work of Kazhdan and Lusztig to the Kac-Moody case, and is suitable for describing a certain class of modules for this algebra. In a paper in preparation we will do this, in the case $G$ is affine (Cherednik's case).
Recently Cherednik and Feigin obtained several Rogers-Ramanujan type identities via the nilpotent double affine Hecke algebras (Nil-DAHA). These identities further led to a series of dilogarithm identities, some of which are known, while some are left conjectural. We confirm and explain all of them by showing the connection with Y-systems associated with (untwisted and twisted) quantum affine Kac-Moody algebras.
We begin the study of unitary representations of Hecke algebras of complex reflections groups. We obtain a complete classification for the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ over the complex numbers. Interestingly, the unitary representations in the category $\OO$ for the rational Cherednik algebra of type A studied in \cite{ESG} correspond to the unitary representations of the corresponding Hecke algebra via the KZ functor defined in \cite{GGOR}.
These are the notes from a series of lectures the author gave at Harvard University in the Fall of 1994. The goal of these lectures is to give a self-contained exposition of recent result of Cherednik (\cite{C6}), who proved Macdonald's inner product conjectures (see \cite{M2}) for arbitrary root systems, using the algebraic structure he called ``double affine Hecke algebra''.
The paper an elementary introduction for non-specialists to the theory of quasi-invariants of Coxeter groups. The main object of study is the variety X_m of quasi-invariants for a finite Coxeter group, which arose in a work of O.Chalykh and A.Veselov about 10 years ago, as the spectral variety of the quantum Calogero-Moser system. Despite being singular, this variety has very nice properties (Cohen-Macaulay, Gorenstein, simplicity of the ring of differential operators, explicitly given Hilbert series). It is interesting that although the definition of X_m is completely elementary, to understan…
We give a topological realization of the (spherical) double affine Hecke algebra $\mathrm{SH}_{q,t}$ of type $A_1$, and we use this to construct a module over $\mathrm{SH}_{q,t}$ for any knot $K \subset S^3$. As an application, we give a purely topological interpretation of Cherednik's 2-variable polynomials $P_n(r,s; q,t)$ of type $A_1$ from [Che13] (where $r,s \in \mathbb{Z}$ are relatively prime), and we give a new proof that these specialize to the colored Jones polynomials of the $r,s$ torus knot. We then generalize Cherednik's construction (for $\mathcal{sl}_2$) to all iterated cables of…
The notion of rational spin double affine Hecke algebras (sDaHa) and rational double affine Hecke-Clifford algebras (DaHCa) associated to classical Weyl groups are introduced. The basic properties of these algebras such as the PBW basis and Dunkl operator representations are established. An algebra isomorphism relating the rational DaHCa to the rational sDaHa is obtained. We further develop a link between the usual rational Cherednik algebra and the rational sDaHa by introducing a notion of rational covering double affine Hecke algebras.
We compute the Hochschild homology of the crossed product $\Bbb C[S_n]\ltimes A^{\otimes n}$ in terms of the Hochschild homology of the associative algebra $A$ (over $\Bbb C$). It allows us to compute the Hochschild (co)homology of $\Bbb C[W]\ltimes A^{\otimes n}$ where $A$ is the $q$-Weyl algebra or any its degeneration and $W$ is the Weyl group of type $A_{n-1}$ or $B_n$. For a deformation quantization $A_+$ of an affine symplectic variety $X$ we show that the Hochschild homology of $S^n A$, $A=A_+[\hbar^{-1}]$ is additively isomorphic to the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of $S^nX$ with coef…
In this article, we define an algebraic version of the Knizhnik--Zamolodchikov functor for the degenerate double affine Hecke algebras (a.k.a. trigonometric Cherednik algebras). We compare it with the KZ monodromy functor constructed by Varagnolo--Vasserot. We prove the double centraliser property for our functor and give a characterisation of its kernel. We establish these results for a family of algebras, called quiver double Hecke algebras, which includes the degenerate double affine Hecke algebras as special cases.
Quantum Drinfeld Hecke algebras are generalizations of Drinfeld Hecke algebras in which polynomial rings are replaced by quantum polynomial rings. We identify these algebras as deformations of skew group algebras, giving an explicit connection to Hochschild cohomology. We compute the relevant part of Hochschild cohomology for actions of many reflection groups and we exploit computations from our paper with Shroff for diagonal actions. By combining our work with recent results of Levandovskyy and Shepler, we produce examples of quantum Drinfeld Hecke algebras. These algebras generalize the brai…
The goal of this paper is to generalize several basic results from the theory of $\cal{D}$-modules to the representation theory of rational Cherednik algebras. We relate characterizations of holonomic modules in terms of singular support and Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. We study pullback, pushforward, and dual on the derived category of (holonomic) Cherednik modules for certain classes of maps between varieties. We prove, in the case of generic parameters for the rational Cherednik algebra, that pushforward with respect to an open affine inclusion preserves holonomicity.
We construct a representation of the affine W-algebra of gl_r on the equivariant homology space of the moduli space of U_r-instantons on A^2, and identify the corresponding module. As a corollary we give a proof of a version of the AGT conjecture concerning pure N=2 gauge theory for the group SU(r). Another proof has been announced by Maulik and Okounkov. Our approach uses a suitable deformation of the universal enveloping algebra of the Witt algebra W_{1+\infty}, which is shown to act on the above homology spaces (for any r) and which specializes to all W(gl_r). This deformation is in turn co…
We introduce and study an affine analogue of skew Young diagrams and tableaux on them. It turns out that the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ acts on the space spanned by standard tableaux on each diagram. It is shown that the modules obtained this way are irreducible, and they exhaust all irreducible modules of a certain class over the double affine Hecke algebra. In particular, the classification of irreducible modules of this class, announced by Cherednik, is recovered.
This paper is a continuation of a previous paper in which the first two authors have introduced the spherical Hecke algebra and the Satake isomorphism for an untwisted affine Kac-Moody group over a non-archimedian local field. In this paper we develop the theory of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra associated to these same groups. The resulting algebra is shown to be closely related to Cherednik's double affine Hecke algebra. Furthermore, using these results, we give an explicit description of the affine Satake isomorphism, generalizing Macdonald's formula for the spherical function in the finite-dime…
We study a class of representations called ``calibrated representations'' of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra and those of the rational Cherednik algebra of type ${\mathrm{GL}}_n$. We give a realization of calibrated irreducible modules as spaces of coinvariants constructed from integrable modules over the affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_m$. Moreover, we give a character formula of these irreducible modules in terms of a level-restricted Kostka polynomials. These results were conjectured by Arakawa, Suzuki and Tsuchiya based on the conformal field theory. The proofs using rec…
In this paper, we study the polynomial representation of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $(C^\vee_n, C_n)$ for specialized parameters. Inductively and combinatorially, we give a linear basis of the representation in terms of linear combinations of non-symmetric Koornwinder polynomials. The basis consists of generalized eigenfunctions with respect to $q$-Dunkl-Cherednik operators $\hat{Y}_i$, and it gives a way to cancel out poles of non-symmetric Koornwinder polynomials. We examine irreducibility and $Y$-semisimplicity of the representation for the specialized parameters. For some case…
We study a BGG-type category of infinite dimensional representations of H[W], a semi-direct product of the quantum torus with parameter `q' built on the root lattice of a semisimple group G, and the Weyl group of G. Irreducible objects of our category turn out to be parameterized by semistable G-bundles on the elliptic curve C^*/q^Z. In the second part of the paper we construct a family of algebras depending on a parameter `v' that specializes to H[W] at v=0, and specializes to the double-affine Hecke algebra introduced by Cherednik, at v=1. We propose a Deligne-Langlands-Lusztig type conjectu…
We describe the ring structure of the cohomology of the Hilbert scheme of points for a smooth surface X. When the canonical class K_X = 0, this was done by Lehn and Sorger, extending earlier work when X = C^2. Their approach does not generalize. Instead we recast this problem as a question of finding integrals of motion for a Hamiltonian which describes ``intersection with the boundary''. To do so, we use the identification of the cohomology of the Hilbert schemes with a Fock space modelled on the lattice H(X). With this identification, Lehn computed the operator of intersection with the bound…
We build representations of the elliptic braid group from the data of a quantum D-module M over a ribbon Hopf algebra U. The construction is modelled on, and generalizes, similar constructions by Lyubashenko and Majid, and also certain geometric constructions of Calaque, Enriquez, and Etingof concerning trigonometric Cherednik algebras. In this context, the former construction is the special case where M is the basic representation, while the latter construction can be recovered as a quasi-classical limit of U=U_t(sl_N), as t limits 1. In the latter case, we produce representations of the doub…
We study algebras constructed by quantum Hamiltonian reduction associated with symplectic quotients of symplectic vector spaces, including deformed preprojective algebras, symplectic reflection algebras (rational Cherednik algebras), and quantization of hypertoric varieties introduced by Musson and Van den Bergh. We determine BRST cohomologies associated with these quantum Hamiltonian reductions. To compute these BRST cohomologies, we make use of method of deformation quantization (DQ-algebras) and F-action studied in [Kashiwara-Rouquier], and in [Gordon-Losev].
In this paper, we define a number of closely related isomorphisms. On one side of these isomorphisms sit a number of of algebras generalizing the Hecke and affine Hecke algebras, which we call the "Hecke family"; on the other, we find generalizations of KLR algebras in finite and affine type A, the "KLR family." We show that these algebras have compatible isomorphisms generalizing those between Hecke and KLR algebras given by Brundan and Kleshchev. This allows us to organize a long list of algebras and categories into a single system, including (affine/cyclotomic) Hecke algebras, (affine/cyclo…
Based on a construction by Kashiwara and Rouquier, we present an analogue of the Beilinson- Bernstein localization theorem for hypertoric varieties. In this case, sheaves of differential operators are replaced by sheaves of W-algebras. As a special case, our result gives a localization theorem for rational Cherednik algebras associated to cyclic groups.
We show that the category O for a rational Cherednik algebra of type A is equivalent to modules over a q-Schur algebra (parameter not a half integer), providing thus character formulas for simple modules. We give some generalization to B_n(d). We prove an ``abstract'' translation principle. These results follow from the unicity of certain highest categories covering Hecke algebras. We also provide a semi-simplicity criterion for Hecke algebras of complex reflection groups.
We investigate certain bases of Hecke algebras defined by means of the Yang-Baxter equation, which we call Yang-Baxter bases. These bases are essentially self-adjoint with respect to a canonical bilinear form. In the case of the degenerate Hecke algebra, we identify the coefficients in the expansion of the Yang-Baxter basis on the usual basis of the algebra with specializations of double Schubert polynomials. We also describe the expansions associated to other specializations of the generic Hecke algebra.
We use the double affine Hecke algebra of type GL_N to construct an explicit consistent system of q-difference equations, which we call the bispectral quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (BqKZ) equations. BqKZ includes, besides Cherednik's quantum affine KZ equations associated to principal series representations of the underlying affine Hecke algebra, a compatible system of q-difference equations acting on the central character of the principal series representations. We construct a meromorphic self-dual solution Φof BqKZ which, upon suitable specializations of the central character, reduces to sy…
We identify the ring of odd symmetric functions introduced by Ellis and Khovanov as the space of skew polynomials fixed by a natural action of the Hecke algebra at q=-1. This allows us to define graded modules over the Hecke algebra at q=-1 that are `odd' analogs of the cohomology of type A Springer varieties. The graded module associated to the full flag variety corresponds to the quotient of the skew polynomial ring by the left ideal of nonconstant odd symmetric functions. The top degree component of the odd cohomology of Springer varieties is identified with the corresponding Specht module …
We define generalized double affine Hecke algebras (GDAHA) of higher rank, attached to a non-Dynkin star-like graph D. This generalizes GDAHA of rank 1 defined in math.QA/0406480 and math.QA/0409261. If the graph is extended D4, then GDAHA is the algebra defined by Sahi in q-alg/9710032, which is a generalization of the Cherednik algebra of type BCn. We prove the formal PBW theorem for GDAHA, and parametrize its irreducible representations in the case when D is affine (i.e. extended D4, E6, E7, E8) and q=1. We formulate a series of conjectures regarding algebraic properties of GDAHA. We expect…
In this paper the authors investigate the $q$-Schur algebras of type B that were constructed earlier using coideal subalgebras for the quantum group of type A. The authors present a coordinate algebra type construction that allows us to realize these $q$-Schur algebras as the duals of the $d$th graded components of certain graded coalgebras. Under suitable conditions an isomorphism theorem is proved that demonstrates that the representation theory reduces to the $q$-Schur algebra of type A. This enables the authors to address the questions of cellularity, quasi-hereditariness and representatio…
We attach elliptic Dunkl operators to an abelian variety with a finite group action. This generalizes elliptic Dunkl operators for Weyl groups, defined by Buchstaber, Felder, and Veselov in 1994. We show that these operators commute, and use them to define representations from category O of elliptic Cherednik algebras. We also consider the monodromy representations of differential equations defined by elliptic Dunkl operators, and show that they yield finite dimensional rrepresentations of generalized double affine Hecke algebras.
Cherednik's type A quantum affine Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (qKZ) equations form a consistent system of linear $q$-difference equations for $V_n$-valued meromorphic functions on a complex $n$-torus, with $V_n$ a module over the GL${}_n$-type extended affine Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}_n$. The family $(\mathcal{H}_n)_{n\geq 0}$ of extended affine Hecke algebras forms a tower of algebras, with the associated algebra morphisms $\mathcal{H}_n\rightarrow\mathcal{H}_{n+1}$ the Hecke algebra descends of arc insertion at the affine braid group level. In this paper we consider qKZ towers $(f^{(n)})_{n\geq …
Cherednik attached to an affine Hecke algebra module a compatible system of difference equations, called quantum affine Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) equations. In case of a principal series module we construct a basis of power series solutions of the quantum affine KZ equations. Relating the bases for different asymptotic sectors gives rise to a Weyl group cocycle, which we compute explicitly in terms of theta functions. For the spin representation of the affine Hecke algebra of type C the quantum affine KZ equations become the boundary qKZ equations associated to the Heisenberg spin-1/2 XXZ ch…
