By using generalized vertex algebras associated to rational lattices, we construct explicitly the admissible modules for the affine Lie algebra $A_1 ^{(1)}$ of level $-{4/3}$. As an application, we show that the W(2,5) algebra with central charge c=-7 investigated in math.QA/0207155 is a subalgebra of the simple affine vertex operator algebra $L(-{4/3}Λ_0)$.
The Bershadsky-Polyakov algebras are the minimal quantum hamiltonian reductions of the affine vertex algebras associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ and their simple quotients have a long history of applications in conformal field theory and string theory. Their representation theories are therefore quite interesting. Here, we classify the simple relaxed highest-weight modules, with finite-dimensional weight spaces, for all admissible but nonintegral levels, significantly generalising the known highest-weight classifications [arxiv:1005.0185, arxiv:1910.13781]. In particular, we prove that the simple…
Let $L(-{1/2}(l+1),0)$ be the simple vertex operator algebra associated to an affine Lie algebra of type $A_{l}^{(1)}$ with the lowest admissible half-integer level $-{1/2}(l+1)$, for even l. We study the category of weak modules for that vertex operator algebra which are in category $\cal{O}$ as modules for the associated affine Lie algebra. We classify irreducible objects in that category and prove semisimplicity of that category.
In this paper we introduce the notion of admissible skein modules associated to an ideal in a pivotal category. We explain how these modules are generalizations of the Kauffman skein algebra and how they relate to renormalized quantum invariants coming from non-semisimple categories.
Relaxed highest-weight modules play a central role in the study of many important vertex operator (super)algebras and their associated (logarithmic) conformal field theories, including the admissible-level affine models. Indeed, their structure and their (super)characters together form the crucial input data for the standard module formalism that describes the modular transformations and Grothendieck fusion rules of such theories. In this article, character formulae are proved for relaxed highest-weight modules over the simple admissible-level affine vertex operator superalgebras associated to…
For an admissible affine vertex algebra $V_k(\mathfrak{g})$ of type $A$, we describe a new family of relaxed highest weight representations of $V_k(\mathfrak{g})$. They are simple quotients of representations of the affine Kac-Moody algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$ induced from the following $\mathfrak{g}$-modules: 1) generic Gelfand-Tsetlin modules in the principal nilpotent orbit, in particular all such modules induced from $\mathfrak{sl}_2$; 2) all Gelfand-Tsetlin modules in the principal nilpotent orbit which are induced from $\mathfrak{sl}_3$; 3) all simple Gelfand-Tsetlin modules over $\…
Using our recent bosonic realization of $U_q(\widehat{sp}_{2n})$, we construct explicitly the vertex operators for the level -1/2 modules of $U_q(\widehat{sp}_{2n})$ using bosonic fields. Our method contains a detailed analysis of all the q-intertwining relations.

Using the tensor category theory developed by Lepowsky, Zhang and the second author, we construct a braided tensor category structure with a twist on a semisimple category of modules for an affine Lie algebra at an admissible level. We conjecture that this braided tensor category is rigid and thus is a ribbon category. We also give conjectures on the modularity of this category and on the equivalence with a suitable quantum group tensor category. In the special case that the affine Lie algebra is $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$, we prove the rigidity and modularity conjectures.
The first part of this work uses the algorithm recently detailed in arXiv:1906.02935 to classify the irreducible weight modules of the minimal model vertex operator algebra $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_3)$, when the level $k$ is admissible. These are naturally described in terms of families parametrised by up to two complex numbers. We also determine the action of the relevant group of automorphisms of $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_3$ on their isomorphism classes and compute explicitly the decomposition into irreducibles when a given family's parameters are permitted to take certain limiting values. Along with c…
Structure of certain simple $\mathcal{W}$-algebras assocated with the Deligne exceptional Lie algebras and non-admissible levels are described as the {\it simple current extensions} of certain vertex operator algebras. As an application, the $C_2$-cofiniteness and $\mathbb{Z}_2$-rationality of the algebras are proved.
First, we establish the relation between the associated varieties of modules over Kac-Moody algebras \hat{g} and those over affine W-algebras. Second, we prove the Feigin-Frenkel conjecture on the singular supports of G-integrable admissible representations. In fact we show that the associated variates of G-integrable admissible representations are irreducible G-invariant subvarieties of the nullcone of g, by determining them explicitly. Third, we prove the C_2-cofiniteness of a large number of simple W-algebras, including all minimal series principal W-algebras and the exceptional W-algebras …
Let L(n-l+1/2,0) be the vertex operator algebra associated to an affine Lie algebra of type B_l^(1) at level n-l+1/2, for a positive integer n. We classify irreducible L(n-l+1/2,0)-modules and show that every L(n-l+1/2,0)-module is completely reducible. In the special case n=1, we study a category of weak L(-l+3/2,0)-modules which are in the category $\cal{O}$ as modules for the associated affine Lie algebra. We classify irreducible objects in that category and prove semisimplicity of that category.

We prove that $KL_k(\mathfrak{sl}_m)$ is a semi-simple, rigid braided tensor category for all even $m\ge 4$, and $k= -\frac{m+1}{2}$ which generalizes result from arXiv:2103.02985 obtained for $m=4$. Moreover, all modules in $KL_k(\mathfrak{sl}_m)$ are simple-currents and they appear in the decomposition of conformal embeddings $\mathfrak{gl}_m \hookrightarrow \mathfrak{sl}_{m+1} $ at level $ k= - \frac{m+1}{2}$ from arXiv:1509.06512. For this we inductively identify minimal affine $W$-algebra $ W_{k-1} (\mathfrak{sl}_{m+2}, θ)$ as simple current extension of $L_{k}(\mathfrak{sl}_m) \otimes \m…
We study the vertex algebras associated with modular invariant representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras at fractional levels, whose simple highest weight modules are classified by Joseph's characteristic varieties. We show that an irreducible highest weight representation of a non-twisted affine Kac-Moody algebra at an admissible level k is a module over the associated simple affine vertex algebra if and only if it is an admissible representation whose integral root system is isomorphic to that of the vertex algebra itself. This in particular proves the conjecture of Adamovic and Milas on …
Fix an affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}_κ$ with associated principal affine W-algebra $\mathcal{W}_κ$. A basic conjecture of Frenkel--Kac--Wakimoto asserts that Drinfeld--Sokolov reduction sends admissible $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}_κ$-modules to zero or cohomological shifts of minimal series $\mathcal{W}_κ$-modules. We prove this conjecture and a natural generalization to the spectrally flowed Drinfeld--Sokolov reduction functors. This extends the previous results of Arakawa for the minus reduction.
We study embeddings of the simple admissible affine vertex algebras $V_k(sl(2))$ and $V_k(osp(1,2))$, $k \notin {\Bbb Z}_{\ge 0}$, into the tensor product of rational Virasoro and $N=1$ Neveu-Schwarz vertex algebra with lattice vertex algebras. We prove that the admissible affine vertex algebra $V_k(sl(2))$ can be embedded into vertex algebra $L^{Vir} (c_{p,p'}, 0) \otimes Π(0)$ where $L^{Vir} (c_{p,p'}, 0) $ is suitable minimal Virasoro vertex algebra and $Π(0)$ is a vertex algebra of lattice type. By using these realizations we construct a family of weight, logarithmic and Whittaker $\wideha…
Certain combinatorial bases of Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces of level k standard modules for affine Lie algebra sl(r,C)\sptilde are parametrized by (k,r)-admissible configurations. In this note we use Capparelli-Lepowsky-Milas' method to give a new proof of linear independence of these bases, the main ingredient in the proof being the use of Dong-Lepowsky's intertwining operators for fundamental sl(r,C)\sptilde-modules.
We show that if $V$ is a vertex operator algebra such that all the irreducible ordinary $V$-modules are $C_1$-cofinite and all the grading-restricted generalized Verma modules for $V$ are of finite length, then the category of finite length generalized $V$-modules has a braided tensor category structure. By applying the general theorem to the simple affine vertex operator algebra (resp. superalgebra) associated to a finite simple Lie algebra (resp. Lie superalgebra) $\mathfrak{g}$ at level $k$ and the category $KL_k(\mathfrak{g})$ of its finite length generalized modules, we discover several f…
This paper studies the twisted representations of vertex operator algebras. Let V be a vertex operator algebra and g an automorphism of V of finite order T. For any m,n in (1/T)Z_+, an A_{g,n}(V)-A_{g,m}(V)-bimodule A_{g,n,m}(V) is constructed. The collection of these bimodules determines any admissible g-twisted V-module completely. A Verma type admissible g-twisted V-module is constructed naturally from any A_{g,m}(V)-module. Furthermore, it is shown with the help of bimodule theory that a simple vertex operator algebra V is g-rational if and only if its twisted associative algebra A_g(V) is…
In this paper we introduce a variant of weight modules for certain conformal vertex superalgebras as an appropriate framework of the $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric coset construction. We call them weight-wise admissible modules. Motivated by the work of Feigin-Semikhatov-Tipunin, we give (block-wise) categorical equivalences between the categories of weight-wise admissible modules over $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_{2}$ and the $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal algebra, induced by the coset construction. As an application, we obtain some character formulae of modules over the $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconf…
Let V be a vertex operator algebra and m,n be nonnegative integers. We construct an A_n(V)-A_m(V)-bimodule A_{n,m}(V) which determines the action of V from the level m subspace to level n subspace of an admissible V-module. We show how to use A_{n,m}(V) to construct naturally admissible V-modules from A_m(V)-modules. We also determine the structure of A_{n,m}(V) when V is rational.
It is shown that a simple vertex operator algebra V is rational if and only if its Zhu algebra A(V) is semisimple and each irreducible admissible V-module is ordinary. A contravariant form on a Verma type admissible V-module is constructed and the radical is exactly the maximal proper submodule. As an application the rationality of V_L^+ for any positive definite even lattice is obtained.
We construct new monomial quasi-particle bases of Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces for affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{C})^{\widetilde{}}$ from which the known fermionic-type formulas for $(k,3)$-admissible configurations follow naturally. In the proof we use vertex operator algebra relations for standard modules and coefficients of intertwining operators.
We give a new construction of functors from the category of modules for the associative algebras $A_n(V)$ and $A_g(V)$ associated with a vertex operator algebra $V$, defined by Dong, Li and Mason, to the category of admissible $V$-modules and admissible twisted $V$-modules, respectively, using the method developed in the joint work \cite{HY1} with Y.-Z. Huang. The functors were first constructed by Dong, Li and Mason, but the importance of the new method, as in \cite{HY1}, is that we can apply the method to study objects without the commutator formula in the representation theory of vertex ope…
Let $d\ge1$ be an integer, $W_d$ and $\mathcal{K}_d$ be the Witt algebra and the weyl algebra over the Laurent polynomial algebra $A_d=\mathbb{C} [x_1^{\pm1}, x_2^{\pm1}, ..., x_d^{\pm1}]$, respectively. For any $\mathfrak{gl}_d$-module $M$ and any admissible module $P$ over the extended Witt algebra $\widetilde W_d$, we define a $W_d$-module structure on the tensor product $P\otimes M$. We prove in this paper that any simple $W_d$-module that is finitely generated over the cartan subalgebra is a quotient module of the $W_d$-module $P \otimes M$ for a finite dimensional simple $\mathfrak{gl}_d…
Let $V$ be a vertex operator algebra and $g$ an automorphism of finite order. We construct an associative algebra $A_g(V)$ and a pair of functors between the category of $A_g(V)$-modules and a certain category of admissible $g$-twisted $V$-modules. In particular, these functors exhibit a bijection between the simple modules in each category. We give various applications, including the fact that the complete reducibility of admissible $g$-twisted modules implies both the finite-dimensionality of homogeneous spaces and the finiteness of the number of simple $g$-twisted modules.
The main result is that the category of ordinary modules of an affine vertex operator algebra of a simply laced Lie algebra at admissible level is rigid and thus a braided fusion category. If the level satisfies a certain coprime property then it is even a modular tensor category. In all cases open Hopf links coincide with the corresponding normalized S-matrix entries of torus one-point functions. This is interpreted as a Verlinde formula beyond rational vertex operator algebras. A preparatory Theorem is a convenient formula for the fusion rules of rational principal W-algebras of any type.
Let V be a vertex operator algebra, and for k a positive integer, let g be a k-cycle permutation of the vertex operator algebra V^{\otimes k}. We prove that the categories of weak, weak admissible and ordinary g-twisted modules for the tensor product vertex operator algebra V^{\otimes k} are isomorphic to the categories of weak, weak admissible and ordinary V-modules, respectively. The main result is an explicit construction of the weak g-twisted V^{\otimes k}-modules from weak V-modules. For an arbitrary permutation automorphism g of V^{\otimes k} the category of weak admissible g-twisted mod…
We study the minimal models associated to $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$, otherwise known as the fractional-level Wess-Zumino-Witten models of $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$. Since these minimal models are extensions of the tensor product of certain Virasoro and $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ minimal models, we can induce the known structures of the representations of the latter models to get a rather complete understanding of the minimal models of $\mathfrak{osp}(1 \vert 2)$. In particular, we classify the irreducible relaxed highest-weight modules, determine their characters and compute their Grothendieck fusi…
We construct a representation of $U_q(\widehat{sl}_2)$ at level $-1/2$ by using the bosonic Fock spaces. The irreducible modules are obtained as the kernel of a certain operator, in contrast to the construction by Feingold and Frenkel for $q=1$ where such a procedure is not necessary. We also bosonize the $q$-vertex operators associated with the vector representation.
A general method for constructing logarithmic modules in vertex operator algebra theory is presented. By utilizing this approach, we give explicit vertex operator construction of certain indecomposable and logarithmic modules for the triplet vertex algebra W(p) and for other subalgebras of lattice vertex algebras and their N=1 super extensions. We analyze in detail indecomposable modules obtained in this way, giving further evidence for the conjectural equivalence between the category of W(p)-modules and the category of modules for the restricted quantum group $\bar{\mathcal{U}}_q(sl_2)$ at ro…
This article gives a complete account of the modular properties and Verlinde formula for conformal field theories based on the affine Kac-Moody algebra sl(2) at an arbitrary admissible level k. Starting from spectral flow and the structure theory of relaxed highest weight modules, characters are computed and modular transformations are derived for every irreducible admissible module. The culmination is the application of a continuous version of the Verlinde formula to deduce non-negative integer structure coefficients which are identified with Grothendieck fusion coefficients. The Grothendieck…
Nazarov \cite{Nazarov:brauer} introduced an infinite dimensional algebra, which he called the \textit{affine Wenzl algebra}, in his study of the Brauer algebras. In this paper we study certain ``cyclotomic quotients'' of these algebras. We construct the irreducible representations of these algebras in the generic case and use this to show that these algebras are free of rank $r^n(2n-1)!!$ (when $Ω$ is $\bu$--admissible). We next show that these algebras are cellular and give a labelling for the simple modules of the cyclotomic Nazarov--Wenzl algebras over an arbitrary field. In particular, thi…
The admissible modules for $\hat{sl}_2$ are studied from the point of view of vertex operator algebra. If $l$ is rational such that $l+2={p\over q}$ for some coprime positive integers $p\ge 2$ and $q$, Kac and Wakimoto found finitely many distinguished irreducible representations for $\hat{sl}_2$, called admissible representations. In this paper we prove that the vertex operator algebra $L(l,0)$ associated to irreducible highest weight representation of $l$ is not rational if $l$ is not a positive integer. However if we change the Virasoro algebra in certain way, $L(l,0)$ becomes a rational ve…
We consider C-graded vertex algebras, which are vertex algebras V with a C-grading such that V is an admissible V-module generated by 'lowest weight vectors'. We show that such vertex algebras have a 'good' representation theory in the sense that there is a Zhu algebra A(V) and a bijection between simple admissible V-modules and simple A(V)-modules. We also consider pseudo vertex operator algebras, which are C-graded vertex algebras with a conformal vector such that the homogeneous subspaces of V are generalized eigenspaces for L(0); essentially, these are VOAs that lack any semisimplicity or …
We are continuing our study of ADE-orbifold subalgebras of the triplet vertex algebra W(p). This part deals with the dihedral series. First, subject to a certain constant term identity, we classify all irreducible modules for the vertex algebra $\bar{M(1)} ^+$, the $\Z_2$--orbifold of the singlet vertex algebra $\bar{M(1)}$. Then we classify irreducible modules and determine Zhu's and $C_2$--algebra for the vertex algebra $\triplet ^{D_2}$. A general method for construction of twisted $\triplet$--modules is also introduced. We also discuss classification of twisted $\bar{M(1)}$--modules includ…
For quantized universal enveloping algebras we construct weight modules by inducing representations of the centralizer of the Cartan subalgebra in the quantized universal enveloping algebra. The induced modules arising from finite-dimensional weight modules the centralizer algebra are studied. In particular, we study the induction of one-dimensional modules, and this is related to the study of commutative subalgebras of the centralizer algebra. For the special case of $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{C}))$ we show that we get the admissible unitary representations corresponding to the non-compact …
