We prove an analogue of the de Rham theorem for polar homology; that the polar homology $HP_q(X)$ of a smooth projective variety $X$ is isomorphic to its $H^{n,n-q}$ Dolbeault cohomology group. This analogue can be regarded as a geometric complexification where arbitrary (sub)manifolds are replaced by complex (sub)manifolds and de Rham's operator $d$ is replaced by Dolbeault's $\bar\partial$.
We will prove a Kodaira-Nakano type of vanishing theorem for the logarithmic de Rham complex of unitary local system. We will then study the weight filtration on the logarithmic de Rham complex, and prove a stronger statement for the associated graded complex.
Let M be a real analytic manifold, F a bounded complex of constructible sheaves. We show that the Whitney-de Rham complex associated to F is quasi-isomorphic to F.
Here we simplify the proof of the de Rham theorem for Schwartz functions on affine Nash manifolds and generalize the result to the case of non affine Nash manifolds.
We establish a positive characteristic analogue of intersection cohomology theory for variations of Hodge structure. It includes: a) the de Rham-Higgs comparison theorem for the intersection de Rham complex; b) the $E_1$-degeneration theorem for the intersection de Rham complex of a periodic de Rham bundle; c) the Kodaira-Saito vanishing theorem for the intersection cohomology groups of a periodic Higgs bundle. These results generalize the decomposition theorem of Deligne-Illusie and the de Rham-Higgs theorem of Ogus-Vologodsky, the $E_1$-degneration theorem of Deligne-Illusie, Illusie, Faltin…
Let X be a smooth complex algebraic variety with the Zariski topology, and let Y be the underlying complex manifold with the complex topology. Grothendieck's algebraic de Rham theorem asserts that the singular cohomology of Y with complex coefficients can be computed from the complex of sheaves of algebraic differential forms on X. This article gives an elementary proof of Grothendieck's algebraic de Rham theorem, elementary in the sense that we use only tools from standard textbooks as well as Serre's FAC and GAGA papers.
We study horizontal semistable and horizontal de Rham representations of the absolute Galois group of a certain smooth affinoid over a p-adic field. In particular, we prove that a horizontal de Rham representation becomes horizontal semistable after a finite extension of the base field. As an application, we show that every de Rham local system on a smooth rigid analytic variety becomes horizontal semistable etale locally around every classical point. We also discuss potentially crystalline loci of de Rham local systems and cohomologically potentially good reduction loci of smooth proper morph…
In a beautiful paper Deligne and Illusie proved the degeneration of the Hodge-to-de Rham spectral sequence using positive characteristic methods. In a recent paper Arinkin, Căldăraru and the author of this paper gave a geometric interpretation of the problem of Deligne-Illusie showing that the triviality of a certain line bundle on a derived scheme implies the the Deligne-Illusie result. In the present paper we generalize these ideas to logarithmic schemes and using the theory of twisted derived intersection of logarithmic schemes we obtain the Hodge theorem for the logarithmic de Rham complex…
In this article we prove that the log Hodge de Rham spectral sequences of certain proper log smooth schemes of Cartier type in characteristic $p>0$ degenerate at $E_1$. We also prove that the log Kodaira vanishings for them hold when they are projective. We formulate the log weak Lefschetz conjecture for log crystalline cohomologies and prove that it is true in certain cases.
In this expository paper, we give a complete proof of van den Essen's theorem that the de Rham cohomology spaces of a holonomic D-module are finite-dimensional in the case of a formal power series ring over a field of characteristic zero. This proof requires results from at least five of van den Essen's papers as well as his unpublished thesis, and until now has not been available in a self-contained document.
Let $k$ be a perfect field of characteristic $p > 0$, $W_n = W_n(k)$. For separated $k$-schemes of finite type, we explain how rigid cohomology with compact supports can be computed as the cohomology of certain de Rham-Witt complexes with coefficients. This result generalizes the classical comparison theorem of Bloch-Illusie for proper and smooth schemes. In the proof, the key step is an extension of the Bloch-Illusie theorem to the case of cohomologies relative to $W_n$ with coefficients in a crystal that is only supposed to be flat over $W_n$.
In this note, we prove the logarithmic $p$-adic comparison theorem for open rigid analytic varieties. We prove that a smooth rigid analytic variety with a strict simple normal crossing divisor is locally $K(π,1)$ (in a certain sense) with respect to $\mathbb{F}_p$-local systems and ramified coverings along the divisor. We follow Scholze's method to produce a pro-version of the Faltings site and use this site to prove a primitive comparison theorem in our setting. After introducing period sheaves in our setting, we prove aforesaid comparison theorem.
We revisit the non-commutative Hodge-to-de Rham Degeneration Theorem of the first author, and present its proof in a somewhat streamlined and improved form that explicitly uses spectral algebraic geometry. We also try to explain why topology is essential to the proof.
We use the Beilinson $t$-structure on filtered complexes and the Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg theorem to construct filtrations on the negative cyclic and periodic cyclic homologies of a scheme $X$ with graded pieces given by the Hodge-completion of the derived de Rham cohomology of $X$. Such filtrations have previously been constructed by Loday in characteristic zero and by Bhatt-Morrow-Scholze for $p$-complete negative cyclic and periodic cyclic homology in the quasisyntomic case.
We study duality theorems for the relative logarithmic de Rham-Witt sheaves on semi-stable schemes $X$ over a local ring $\mathbb{F}_q[[t]]$, where $\mathbb{F}_q$ is a finite field. As an application, we obtain a new filtration on the maximal abelian quotient $π^{\text{ab}}_1(U)$ of the étale fundamental groups $π_1(U)$ of an open subscheme $U \subseteq X$, which gives a measure of ramification along a divisor $D$ with normal crossing and $\text{Supp}(D) \subseteq X-U$. This filtration coincides with the Brylinski-Kato-Matsuda filtration in the relative dimension zero case.
Let $R$ be a Banach ring. We prove that the category of chain complexes of complete bornological $R$-modules (and several related categories) is a derived algebraic context in the sense of Raksit. We then use the framework of derived algebra to prove a version of the Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg Theorem, which relates the circle action on the Hochschild algebra to the de Rham-differential-enriched-de Rham algebra of a simplicial, commutative, complete bornological algebra. This has a geometric interpretation in the language of derived analytic geometry, namely, the derived loop stack of a deri…
We construct a new cohomology theory for proper smooth (formal) schemes over the ring of integers of C_p. It takes values in a mixed-characteristic analogue of Dieudonne modules, which was previously defined by Fargues as a version of Breuil-Kisin modules. Notably, this cohomology theory specializes to all other known p-adic cohomology theories, such as crystalline, de Rham and etale cohomology, which allows us to prove strong integral comparison theorems. The construction of the cohomology theory relies on Faltings's almost purity theorem, along with a certain functor $Lη$ on the derived cate…
We extend the results of Deligne and Illusie on liftings modulo $p^2$ and decompositions of the de Rham complex in several ways. We show that for a smooth scheme $X$ over a perfect field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$, the truncations of the de Rham complex in $\max(p-1, 2)$ consecutive degrees can be reconstructed as objects of the derived category in terms of its truncation in degrees at most one (or, equivalently, in terms the obstruction class to lifting modulo $p^2$). Consequently, these truncations are decomposable if $X$ admits a lifting to $W_2(k)$, in which case the first nonzero differe…
We give a short proof of Kaledin's theorem on the degeneration of the noncommutative Hodge-to-de Rham spectral sequence. Our approach is based on topological Hochschild homology and the theory of cyclotomic spectra. As a consequence, we also obtain relative versions of the degeneration theorem, both in characteristic zero and for regular bases in characteristic $p$.
In his 1982 paper, Ogus defined a class of cycles in the de Rham cohomology of smooth proper varieties over number fields. This notion is a crystalline analogue of $\ell$-adic Tate cycles. In the case of abelian varieties, this class includes all the Hodge cycles by the work of Deligne, Ogus, and Blasius. Ogus predicted that such cycles coincide with Hodge cycles for abelian varieties. In this paper, we confirm Ogus' prediction for some families of abelian varieties. These families include abelian varieties that have both prime dimension and nontrivial endomorphism ring. The proof is based on …
By a theorem of Bernhard Keller the de Rham cohomology of a smooth variety is isomorphic to the periodic cyclic homology of the differential graded category of perfect complexes on the variety. Both the de Rham cohomology and the cyclic homology can be twisted by the exponential of a regular function on the variety. We explain that the isomorphism holds true in the twisted setting and draw some conclusions on derived invariance of the algebraic Gauss-Manin systems associated with regular functions.
In this paper we study the comparison between the logarithmic and the meromorphic de Rham complexes along a divisor in a complex manifold. We focus on the case of free divisors, starting with the case of locally quasihomogeneous divisors, and we explain how D-module theory can be used for this comparison.
In this paper we introduce the word "fresco" to denote a \ $[λ]-$primitive monogenic geometric (a,b)-module. The study of this "basic object" (generalized Brieskorn module with one generator) which corresponds to the minimal filtered (regular) differential equation satisfied by a relative de Rham cohomology class, began in [B.09] where the first structure theorems are proved. Then in [B.10] we introduced the notion of theme which corresponds in the \ $[λ]-$primitive case to frescos having a unique Jordan-H{ö}lder sequence. Themes correspond to asymptotic expansion of a given vanishing period, …
