J. Lepowsky and R. L. Wilson initiated the approach to combinatorial Rogers-Ramanujan type identities via the vertex operator constructions of representations of affine Lie algebras. In a joint work with Arne Meurman this approach is developed further in the framework of vertex operator algebras. The main ingredients of that construction are defining relations for standard modules and relations among them. The arguments involve both representation theory and combinatorics, the final results hold only for affine Lie algebras $A_1^{(1)}$ and $A_2^{(1)}$. In the present paper some of those arguments are formulated and extended for general affine Lie algebras. The main result is a kind of rank theorem, guaranteeing the existence of combinatorial relations among relations, provided that certain purely combinatorial quantities are equal to dimensions of certain representation spaces. Although the result holds in quite general setting, applications are expected mainly for standard modules of affine Lie algebras.
Given an affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}[σ]$ of arbitrary type, we determine certain minimal sets of annihilating fields of standard $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}[σ]$-modules. We then use these sets in order to obtain a characterization of standard $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}[σ]$-modules in terms of irreducible loop $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}[σ]$-modules, which proves to be a useful tool for combinatorial constructions of bases for standard $\tilde{\mathfrak{g}}[σ]$-modules.
We use Kazhdan-Lusztig tensoring to, first, describe annihilating ideals of highest weight modules over an affine Lie algebra in terms of the corresponding VOA and, second, to classify tilting functors, an affine analogue of projective functors known in the case of a simple Lie algebra. For the sake of completeness, the classification of annihilating ideals is borrowed from our previous work, q-alg/9711011; the part on tilting functors is new.
We show that a set of local admissible fields generates a vertex algebra. For an affine Lie algebra $\tilde\goth g$ we construct the corresponding level $k$ vertex operator algebra and we show that level $k$ highest weight $\tilde\goth g$-modules are modules for this vertex operator algebra. We determine the set of annihilating fields of level $k$ standard modules and we study the corresponding loop $\tilde\goth g$ module---the set of relations that defines standard modules. In the case when $\tilde\goth g$ is of type $A_1^{(1)}$, we construct bases of standard modules parameterized by colored…
For an untwisted affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra $\tilde{\mathfrak g}$, and a given positive integer level $k$, vertex operators $x(z)=\sum x(n)z^{-n-1}$, $x\in\mathfrak g$, generate a vertex operator algebra $V$. For the maximal root $θ$ and a root vector $x_θ$ of the corresponding finite-dimensional $\mathfrak g$, the field $x_θ(z)^{k+1}$ generates all annihilating fields of level $k$ standard $\tilde{\mathfrak g}$-modules. In this paper we study the kernel of the normal order product map $r(z)\otimes Y(v,z)\mapsto :r(z) Y(v,z):$ for $v\in V$ and $r(z)$ in the space of annihilating fields gener…
We introduce the notion of extended affine Lie superalgebras and investigate the properties of their root systems. Extended affine Lie algebras, invariant affine reflection algebras, finite dimensional basic classical simple Lie superalgebras and affine Lie superalgebras are examples of extended affine Lie superalgebras.
We associate elliptic affine Lie algebras with what are called vertex $\C((z))$-algebras and their modules in a certain category. In the course, we construct two families of Lie algebras closely related to elliptic affine Lie algebras.
We introduce a new class of possibly infinite dimensional Lie algebras and study their structural properties. Examples of this new class of Lie algebras are finite dimensional simple Lie algebras containing a nonzero split torus, affine and extended affine Lie algebras. Our results generalize well-known properties of these examples.
We construct certain integral structures for the cores of reduced tame extended affine Lie algebras of rank at least 2. One of the main tools to achieve this is a generalization of Chevalley automorphisms in the context of extended affine Lie algebras. As an application, groups of extended affine Lie type associated to the adjoint representation are defined over arbitrary fields.
In this paper, we study nullity-2 toroidal extended affine Lie algebras in the context of vertex algebras and their $ϕ$-coordinated modules. Among the main results, we introduce a variant of toroidal extended affine Lie algebras, associate vertex algebras to the variant Lie algebras, and establish a canonical connection between modules for toroidal extended affine Lie algebras and $ϕ$-coordinated modules for these vertex algebras. Furthermore, by employing some results of Billig, we obtain an explicit realization of irreducible modules for the variant Lie algebras.
In this note we explain, in terms of finite dimensional representations of Lie algebras $\mathfrak{sp}_{2\ell}\subset\mathfrak{sl}_{2\ell}$, a combinatorial coincidence of difference conditions in two constructions of combinatorial bases for standard representations of symplectic affine Lie algebras.
The interaction of a Lie algebra $\LL,$ having a weight space decomposition with respect to a nonzero toral subalgebra, with its corresponding root system forms a powerful tool in the study of the structure of $\LL.$ This, in particular, suggests a systematic study of the root system apart from its connection with the Lie algebra. Although there have been a lot of researches in this regard on Lie algebra level, such an approach has not been considered on Lie superalgebra level. In this work, we introduce and study extended affine root supersystems which are a generalization of both affine refl…
The extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$ is quantized from three different points of view in this paper, which produces three noncommutative and noncocommutative Hopf algebra structures, and yield other three quantizations by an isomorphism of $\widetilde{\frak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$ correspondingly. Moreover, two of these quantizations can be restricted to the extended affine Lie algebra ${sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$.
We construct Wakimoto modules for twisted affine Lie algebras, and interpret the construction in terms of vertex algebras and their twisted modules. Using the Wakimoto realization, we prove the Kac-Kazhdan conjecture on the characters of irreducible modules with generic critical highest weights in the twisted case. We provide explicit formulas for the twisted fields in the case of the twisted affine algebra A^{(2)}_{2}.
Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces for affine Lie algebras of type $C_\ell^{(1)}$ have monomial bases with a nice combinatorial description. We describe bases of whole standard modules in terms of semi-infinite monomials obtained as "a limit of translations" of bases for Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces.
In this paper, we study a family of infinite-dimensional Lie algebras $\widehat{X}_{S}$, where $X$ stands for the type: $A,B,C,D$, and $S$ is an abelian group, which generalize the $A,B,C,D$ series of trigonometric Lie algebras. Among the main results, we identify $\widehat{X}_{S}$ with what are called the covariant algebras of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathcal{L}_{S}}$ with respect to some automorphism groups, where $\mathcal{L}_{S}$ is an explicitly defined associative algebra viewed as a Lie algebra. We then show that restricted $\widehat{X}_{S}$-modules of level $\ell$ naturally co…
Using certain results for the vertex operator algebras associated with affine Lie algebras we obtain recurrence relations for the characters of integrable highest weight irreducible modules for an affine Lie algebra. As an application we show that in the simply-laced level 1 case, these recurrence relations give the known characters, whose principal specializations naturally give rise to some multisum Macdonald identities.
The aim of this work is to construct the quasi-particle basis of principal subspace of standard module of highest weight $kΛ_0$ of level $k\geq 1$ of affine Lie algebra of type $G_2^{(1)}$ by means of which we obtain the basis of principal subspace of generalized Verma module.
We continue a previous study on $Γ$-vertex algebras and their quasimodules. In this paper we refine certain known results and we prove that for any $\Z$-graded vertex algebra $V$ and a positive integer $N$, the category of $V$-modules is naturally isomorphic to the category of quasimodules of a certain type for $V^{\otimes N}$. We also study certain generalizations of twisted affine Lie algebras and we relate such Lie algebras to vertex algebras and their quasimodules, in a way similar to that twisted affine Lie algebras are related to vertex algebras and their twisted modules.
By using the known description of combinatorial bases for Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces of standard modules for affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(l+1,\mathbb{C})^{\widetilde{}}$, as well as certain intertwining operators between standard modules, we obtain exact sequences of Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces at fixed level $k$. This directly leads to systems of recurrence relations for formal characters of those subspaces.
Using the tensor category theory developed by Lepowsky, Zhang and the second author, we construct a braided tensor category structure with a twist on a semisimple category of modules for an affine Lie algebra at an admissible level. We conjecture that this braided tensor category is rigid and thus is a ribbon category. We also give conjectures on the modularity of this category and on the equivalence with a suitable quantum group tensor category. In the special case that the affine Lie algebra is $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_2$, we prove the rigidity and modularity conjectures.
In this paper we construct combinatorial bases of Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces of standard modules for level $k$ affine Lie algebra $C_\ell^{(1)}$. We prove spanning by using annihilating field $x_θ(z)^{k+1}$ of standard modules. In the proof of linear independence we use simple currents and intertwinining operators whose existence is given by fusion rules.
We describe the cell structure of the affine Temperley-Lieb algebra with respect to a monomial basis. We construct a diagram calculus for this algebra.
We construct a new family of irreducible modules over any basic classical affine Kac-Moody Lie superalgebra which are induced from modules over the Heisenberg subalgebra. We also obtain irreducible deformations of these modules for the quantum affine superalgebra of type A.
We present modules for the extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{gl}_{3}(\bc_q)}$ by using the idea of free fields. A necessary and sufficient condition for the modules being unitary is given.
We give some higher dimensional analogues of the Durfee square formula and point out their relation to dissections of multipartitions. We apply the results to write certain affine Lie algebra characters in terms of Universal Chiral Partition Functions.
Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules, and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated, and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular, imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.
We study some non-semisimple representations of affine Temperley--Lieb algebras and related cellular algebras. In particular, we classify extensions between simple standard modules. Moreover, we construct a completion which is an infinite dimensional cellular algebra.
We construct a class of modules for extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{gl}_l({\bc_q})}$ by using the free fields. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for those modules being irreducible.
Construction of the diagrammatic version of the affine Temperley-Lieb algebra of type $\widetilde{A_N}$ as a subring of matrices over the Laurent polynomials is given. We move towards geometrical understanding of cellular structure of the Temperley-Lieb algebra. We represent its center as a coordinate ring of the certain affine algebraic variety and describe this variety constructing its desingularization.
We shall derive Kazhdan-Lusztig type character formula for the irreducible modules with arbitrary non-critical highest weights over affine Lie algebras from the rational case by using the translation functor, the Enright functor and Jantzen's deformation argument.
In this paper, we give defining relations of the affine Lie superalgebras an and defining relations of a super-version of the Drinfeld[D]-Jimbo[J] affine quantized universal enveloping algebras. As a result, we can exactly define the affine quantized universal enveloping superalgebras with generators and relations. Moreover we give a Drinfeld's realizations of $U_h({\hat {sl}}(m|n)^{(1)})$.
We study representations of the double affine Lie algebra associated to a simple Lie algebra. We construct a family of indecomposable integrable representations and identify their irreducible quotients. We also give a condition for the indecomposable modules to be irreducible, this is analogous to a result in the representation theory of quantum affine algebras. Finally, in the last section of the paper, we show, by using the notion of fusion product, that our modules are generically reducible.
Using the bases of principal subspaces for twisted affine Lie algebras except $A_{2l}^{(2)}$ by Butorac and Sadowski, we construct bases of the highest weight modules of highest weight $kΛ_0$ and parafermionic spases for the same affine Lie algebras. As a result, we obtain their character formulas conjectured in arXiv:math/0102113.
This is an exposition in order to give an explicit way to understand (1) a non-topological proof for an existence of a base of an affine root system, (2) a Serre-type definition of an elliptic Lie algebra with rank =>2, and (3) the isotropic root multiplicities of those elliptic Lie algebras.
We present an explicit character formula for the irreducible highest weight representations of the non-twisted affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra at the critical level which are integrable over the corresponding finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra.
In this paper, we explore natural connections among trigonometric Lie algebras, (general) affine Lie algebras, and vertex algebras. Among the main results, we obtain a realization of trigonometric Lie algebras as what were called the covariant algebras of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathcal{A}}$ of Lie algebra $\mathcal{A}=\frak{gl}_{\infty}\oplus\frak{gl}_{\infty}$ with respect to certain automorphism groups. We then prove that restricted modules of level $\ell$ for trigonometric Lie algebras naturally correspond to equivariant quasi modules for the affine vertex algebras $V_{\widehat{\…
The method of vector coherent states is generalized to study representations of the affine Lie algebra $\hat{sl}(2)$. A large class of highest weight irreps is explicitly constructed, which contains the integrable highest weight irreps as special cases.
Explicit formulas of the universal $R$-matrix are given for all quantized nontwisted rank 3 affine Lie algebras $U_q(A_2^{(1)})\,,~U_q(C_2^{(1)})$ and $U_q(G_2^{(1)})$.
We use combinatorial description of bases of Feigin-Stoyanovsky's type subspaces of standard modules of level 1 for affine Lie algebras of types $A_\ell^{(1)}$ and $D_4^{(1)}$ to obtain character formulas. These descriptions naturally lead to systems of recurrence relations for which we also find solutions.
We use the idea of free fields to obtain highest weight representations for the extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{gl}_{2}(\bc_q)}$ coordinatized by the quantum torus $\bc_q$ and go on to construct a contravariant hermitian form. We further give a necessary and sufficient condition such that the contravariant hermitian form is positive definite.
Let $L(-{1/2}(l+1),0)$ be the simple vertex operator algebra associated to an affine Lie algebra of type $A_{l}^{(1)}$ with the lowest admissible half-integer level $-{1/2}(l+1)$, for even l. We study the category of weak modules for that vertex operator algebra which are in category $\cal{O}$ as modules for the associated affine Lie algebra. We classify irreducible objects in that category and prove semisimplicity of that category.
We study, in the path realization, crystals for Demazure modules of affine Lie algebras of types $A^{(1)}_n,B^{(1)}_n,C^{(1)}_n,D^{(1)}_n, A^{(2)}_{2n-1},A^{(2)}_{2n}, and D^{(2)}_{n+1}$. We find a special sequence of affine Weyl group elements for the selected perfect crystal, and show if the highest weight is $l\La_0$, the Demazure crystal has a remarkably simple structure.
A realization of the affine Lie algebra ${A^{(1)}_1}$ and the relevant $Z$-algebra at negative level $-k$ is given in terms of parafermions. This generalizes the recent work on realization of the affine Lie algebra at the critical level.
We construct combinatorial bases of principal subspaces of standard modules of level $k \geq 1$ with highest weight $kΛ_0$ for the twisted affine Lie algebras of type $A_{2l-1}^{(2)}$, $D_l^{(2)}$, $E_6^{(2)}$ and $D_4^{(3)}$. Using these bases we directly calculate characters of principal subspaces.
It is shown that the fixed point subalgebra of an EALA under a finite order automorphism (satisfying certain properties) is a sum of EALA's, an abelian subalgebra, and a subspace which is contained in the centralizer of the core.
We construct quasi-particle bases of principal subspaces of standard modules $L(Λ)$, where $Λ=k_0Λ_0+k_jΛ_j$, and $Λ_j$ denotes the fundamental weight of affine Lie algebras of type $B_l^{(1)}$, $C_l^{(1)}$, $F_4^{(1)}$ or $G_2^{(1)}$ of level one. From the given bases we find characters of principal subspaces.
In this paper we give a combinatorial parametrization of leading terms of defining relations for level $k$ standard modules for affine Lie algebra of type $C_{n}\sp{(1)}$. Using this parametrization we conjecture colored Rogers-Ramanujan type combinatorial identities for $n\geq 2$ and $k\geq 2$; the identity in the case $n=k=1$ is equivalent to one of Capparelli's identities.
We construct a family of homomorphisms between Weyl modules for affine Lie algebras in characteristic p, which supports our conjecture on the strong linkage principle in this context. We also exhibit a large class of reducible Weyl modules beyond level one, for p not necessarily small.
We give an introduction to the structure theory of extended affine Lie algebras, which provide a common framework for finite-dimensional semisimple, affine and toroidal Lie algebras. The notes are based on a lecture series given during the Fields Institute summer school at the University of Ottawa in June 2009.
Lie bialgebra structures on the extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$ are investigated. In particular, all Lie bialgebra structures on $\widetilde{sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$ are shown to be triangular coboundary. This result is obtained by employing some techniques, which may also work for more general extended affine Lie algebras, to prove the triviality of the first cohomology group of $\widetilde{sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}$ with coefficients in the tensor product of its adjoint module, namely, $H^1(\widetilde{sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)},\widetilde{sl_2(\mathbb{C}_q)}\otimes\widetilde{sl_2…
Covering Algebras of extended affine Lie algebras(EALA's) relative to finite order automorphisms are studied. Conditions are given for when the resulting algebra is again an EALA. This paper deals with affinizations of EALA's relative to finite order automorphisms and these algebras are generalizations of the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras.
We give a realization of quantum affine Lie algebra $U_q(\hat A_{N-1})$ in terms of anyons defined on a two-dimensional lattice, the deformation parameter $q$ being related to the statistical parameter $ν$ of the anyons by $q = e^{iπν}$. In the limit of the deformation parameter going to one we recover the Feingold-Frenkel fermionic construction of undeformed affine Lie algebra.
