In the 1980s Drézet and Le Potier realized moduli spaces of Gieseker-semistable sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$ as what are now called quiver moduli spaces. In this paper, our aim is to find the relations amongst the cohomology classes of Brill-Noether subvarieties of the moduli space of semistable bundles over an elliptic curve. We obtain results similar to the Poincaré relations on a Jacobian variety.

We construct a moduli space of slope-semistable pure sheaves, building upon previous work of Le Potier and Jun Li on torsion-free sheaves over smooth surfaces. In particular, our construction provides a compactification of the Simpson moduli space of slope-stable reflexive sheaves. We compute the Picard group of the moduli space $U'$ of semistable vector bundles of rank $n$ and degree $d$ on an irreducible nodal curve $Y$ and show that $U'$ is locally factorial. We determine the canonical line bundles of $U'$ and $U'_L$, the subvariety consisting of vector bundles with a fixed determinant. For rank 2, we compute the Picard group of other strata in the compactification of $U'$.

Let X be a smooth projective complex variety, and let G be an algebraic reductive complex group. We define the notion of principal G-sheaf, that generalises the notion of principal G-bundle. Then we define a notion of semistability, and construct the projective moduli space of semistable principal G-sheaves on X. This is a natural compactification of the moduli space of principal G-bundles. Let H be a semisimple algebaric group and let X be a smooth projective curve defined over an algebraically closed field k. In the first part of this paper we show that the moduli of semistable principal H-bundles exists once given a "low-height" representation of H. We also show the projectivity of the moduli space if p > ψ, where ψis a representation theoritic index. The projectivity is a consequence of a semistable reduction theorem. The irreducibility of the moduli space of semistable H-bundles for simple and simply connected group is obtained as a consequence.

We resolve pathological wall-crossing phenomena for moduli spaces of sheaves on higher-dimensional base manifolds. This is achieved by considering slope-semistability with respect to movable curves rather than divisors.
