We extend two well-known results on primitive ideals in enveloping algebras of semisimple Lie algebras, the `Irreducibility theorem' and `Duflo theorem', to much wider classes of algebras. Our general version of Irreducibility theorem says that if A is a positively filtered associative algebra such that gr(A) is a commutative Poisson algebra with finitely many symplectic leaves, then the associated variety of any primitive ideal in A is the closure of a single connected symplectic leaf. Our general version of Duflo theorem says that if A is an algebra with a `triangular structure' (see sect. 2), then any primitive ideal in A is the annihilator of a simple highest weight module. Applications to Symplectic reflection algebras and Cherednik algebras are discussed.
Let $H$ be a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra. We study the behaviou r of primitive and maximal ideals in certain types of ring extensions determined by $H$. The main focus is on the class of faithfully flat Galois extensions, which includes includes smash and crossed products. It is shown how analogous results can be obtained for the larger class of extensions possessing a total integral, which includes extensions $A^H\subseteq A $ when $H$ is semisimple. We use Passman's "primitivity machine" to reduce the whole theory of Kr ull relations for prime ideals to the case of primitive ideals. The …
We provide an explicit description of the primitive ideals of the enveloping algebra $\operatorname{U}(\frak{sl}(\infty))$ of the infinite-dimensional finitary Lie algebra $\frak{sl}(\infty)$ over an uncountable algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. Our main new result is that any primitive ideal of $\operatorname{U}(\frak{sl}(\infty))$ is integrable. A classification of integrable primitive ideals of $\operatorname{U}(\frak{sl}(\infty))$ has been known previously, and relies on the pioneering work of A. Zhilinskii.
For a semisimple Lie algebra defined over a discrete valuation ring with field of fractions $K$, we prove that any primitive ideal with rational central character in the affinoid enveloping algebra, $\widehat{U(\mathfrak{g})_{K}},$ is the annihilator of an affinoid highest weight module.
The aim of this paper is to study the representation theory of quantum Schubert cells. Let $\g$ be a simple complex Lie algebra. To each element $w$ of the Weyl group $W$ of $\g$, De Concini, Kac and Procesi have attached a subalgebra $U_q[w]$ of the quantised enveloping algebra $U_q(\g)$. Recently, Yakimov showed that these algebras can be interpreted as the quantum Schubert cells on quantum flag manifolds. In this paper, we study the primitive ideals of $U_q[w]$. More precisely, it follows from the Stratification Theorem of Goodearl and Letzter that the primitive spectrum of $U_q[w]$ admits …
Let p be a prime, K a p-adic field, G a nilpotent, uniform pro-p group. We prove that all faithful, primitive ideals in the Iwasawa algebra KG are controlled by the centraliser of the second term in the upper central series for G.
We prove that any finite W-algebra U(g,e) admits a one-dimensional representation fixed by the action of the component group of the centraliser of e. As a consequence, for any nilpotent orbit O in g there exists a multiplicity-free (and hence completely prime) primitive ideal of the universal enveloping algebra U(g) whose associated variety coincides with the Zariski closure of O.
We prove that all finite W-algebras associated with nilpotent elements e in a complex semisimple Lie algebra g have finite-dimensional representations. In order to obtain this result we establish a connection between primitive ideals of U(g) attached to the nilpotent orbit containing e and finite-dimensional representations of the reduced enveloping algebra assiciated with e over an algebraically closed field of finite characteristic.
We study inclusions between primitive ideals in the universal enveloping algebra of general linear superalgebras. For classical Lie superalgebras, any primitive ideal is the annihilator of a simple highest weight module. It therefore suffices to study the quasi-order on highest weights determined by the relation of inclusion between primitive ideals. For the specific case of reductive Lie algebras, this quasi-order is essentially the left Kazhdan-Lusztig quasi-order. For Lie superalgebras, the classification is unknown in general, safe from some low dimensional specific cases. We derive an alt…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a semisimple Lie algebra. We establish a new relation between the Goldie rank of a primitive ideal $\mathcal{J}\subset U(\mathfrak{g})$ and the dimension of the corresponding irreducible representation $V$ of an appropriate finite W-algebra. Namely, we show that $\operatorname{Grk}(\mathcal{J}) \leqslant \dim V/d_V$, where $d_V$ is the index of a suitable equivariant Azumaya algebra on a homogeneous space. We also compute $d_V$ in representation theoretic terms.
Given a $p$-adic field $K$ and a nilpotent uniform pro-$p$ group $G$, we prove that all primitive ideals in the $K$-rational Iwasawa algebra $KG$ are maximal, and can be reduced to a particular standard form. Setting $\mathcal{L}$ as the associated $\mathbb{Z}_p$-Lie algebra of $G$, our approach is to study the action of $KG$ on a Dixmier module $\widehat{D(λ)}$ over the affinoid envelope $\widehat{U(\mathcal{L})}_K$, and to prove that all primitive ideals can be reduced to annihilators of modules of this form.
We present an algorithm which computes the annihilator in ${\rm U}(\frak{sl}(\infty))$ of any simple highest weight $\frak{sl}(\infty)$-module $L_\frak b(λ)$. This algorithm is based on an infinite version of the Robinson-Schensted algorithm.
We study three related topics in representation theory of classical Lie superalgebras. The first one is classification of primitive ideals, i.e. annihilator ideals of simple modules, and inclusions between them. The second topic concerns Arkhipov's twisting functors on the BGG category O. The third topic addresses deformed orbits of the Weyl group. These take over the role of the usual Weyl group orbits for Lie algebras, in the study of primitive ideals and twisting functors for Lie superalgebras.
The purpose of this Ph.D. thesis is to study and classify primitive ideals of the enveloping algebras $U(\mathfrak{o}(\infty))$ and $U(\mathfrak{sp}(\infty))$. Let $\mathfrak{g}(\infty)$ denote any of the Lie algebras $\mathfrak{o}(\infty)$ or $\mathfrak{sp}(\infty)$. Then\break $\mathfrak{g}(\infty)=\bigcup_{n\geq 2} \mathfrak{g}(2n)$ for $\mathfrak{g}(2n)=\mathfrak{o}(2n)$ or $\mathfrak{g}(2n)=\mathfrak{sp}(2n)$, respectively. We show that each primitive ideal $I$ of $U(\mathfrak{g}(\infty))$ is weakly bounded, i.e., $I\cap U(\mathfrak{g}(2n))$ equals the intersection of annihilators of boun…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a complex semisimple Lie algebra, $\mathfrak{b}$ be a Borel subalgebra of $\mathfrak{g}$, $\mathfrak{n}$ be the nilradical of $\mathfrak{b}$, and $U(\mathfrak{n})$ be the universal enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{n}$. We study primitive ideals of $U(\mathfrak{n})$. Almost all primitive ideals are centrally generated, i.e., are generated by their intersections with the center $Z(\mathfrak{n})$ of $U(\mathfrak{n})$. We present an explicit characterization of the centrally generated primitive ideals of $U(\mathfrak{n})$ in terms of the Dixmier map and the Kostant cascade in…
We study the centrally generated primitive ideals of $U(\mathfrak{n})$, where $\mathfrak{n}$ is the (locally) nilpotent radical of a (splitting) Borel subalgebra of a simple complex Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{o}_{2n+1}(\mathbb{C})$, $\mathfrak{o}_{2n}(\mathbb{C})$, $\mathfrak{o}_{\infty}(\mathbb{C})$. In the infinite-dimensional setting, there are infinitely many isomorphism classes of Lie algebras $\mathfrak{n}$, and we fix $\mathfrak{n}$ with "largest possible" center of $U(\mathfrak{n})$. We characterize the centrally generated primitive ideals of $U(\mathfrak{n})$ in terms of the …
We study simply connected Lie groups $G$ for which the hull-kernel topology of the primitive ideal space $\text{Prim}(G)$ of the group $C^*$-algebra $C^*(G)$ is $T_1$, that is, the finite subsets of $\text{Prim}(G)$ are closed. Thus, we prove that $C^*(G)$ is AF-embeddable. To this end, we show that if $G$ is solvable and its action on the centre of $[G, G]$ has at least one imaginary weight, then $\text{Prim}(G)$ has no nonempty quasi-compact open subsets. We prove in addition that connected locally compact groups with $T_1$ ideal spaces are strongly quasi-diagonal.
We study the center of $U(\mathfrak{n})$, where $\mathfrak{n}$ is the locally nilpotent radical of a splitting Borel subalgebra of a simple complex Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}_{\infty}(\mathbb{C})$, $\mathfrak{so}_{\infty}(\mathbb{C})$, $\mathfrak{sp}_{\infty}(\mathbb{C})$. There are infinitely many isomorphism classes of Lie algebras $\mathfrak{n}$, and we provide explicit generators of the center of $U(\mathfrak{n})$ in all cases. We then fix $\mathfrak{n}$ with "largest possible" center of $U(\mathfrak{n})$ and characterize the centrally generated primitive ideals of $U(\mathfra…
Let $\mathfrak{n}$ be a locally nilpotent infinite-dimensional Lie algebra over $\mathbb{C}$. Let $\mathrm{U}(\mathfrak{n})$ and $\mathrm{S}(\mathfrak{n})$ be its universal enveloping algebra and its symmetric algebra respectively. Consider the Jacobson topology on the primitive spectrum of $\mathrm{U}(\mathfrak{n})$ and the Poisson topology on the primitive Poisson spectrum of $\mathrm{S}(\mathfrak{n})$. We provide a homeomorphism between the corresponding topological spaces (on the level of points, it gives a bijection between the primitive ideals of $\mathrm{U}(\mathfrak{n})$ and $\mathrm{S…
A Poisson analog of the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence is established for any affine Poisson algebra $R$ on which an algebraic torus $H$ acts rationally, by Poisson automorphisms, such that $R$ has only finitely many prime Poisson $H$-stable ideals. In this setting, an additional characterization of the Poisson primitive ideals of $R$ is obtained -- they are precisely the prime Poisson ideals maximal in their $H$-strata (where two prime Poisson ideals are in the same $H$-stratum if the intersections of their $H$-orbits coincide). Further, the Zariski topology on the space of Poisson primitive ide…
Dixmier and Moeglin gave an algebraic condition and a topological condition for recognising the primitive ideals among the prime ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra; they showed that the primitive, rational, and locally closed ideals coincide. In modern terminology, they showed that the universal enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional complex Lie algebra satisfies the Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. We define quantities which measure how "close" an arbitrary prime ideal of a noetherian algebra is to being primitive, rational, and locally clos…
Let $G$ be a simply connected, nilpotent Lie group with Lie algebra $\gee$. The group $G$ acts on the dual space $\gee^*$ by the coadjoint action. %% which partitions $\gee^*$ into coadjoint orbits. By the orbit method of Kirillov, the simple unitary representations of $G$ are in bijective correspondence with the coadjoint orbits in $\gee^*$, which in turn are in bijective correspondence with the primitive ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of $\gee$. The number of simple $\gee$-modules which have a common eigenvector for a particular subalgebra of $\gee$ and are annihilated by a parti…
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a simple Lie algebra with a Borel subalgebra $\mathfrak b$. To any long positive root $γ$, one associates two ideals of $\mathfrak b$: the abelian ideal $I(γ)_{max}$ and not necessarily abelian ideal $I\langle{\succcurlyeq}γ\rangle$. It is known that $I(γ)_{max} \subset I\langle{\succcurlyeq}γ\rangle$, and $γ$ is said to be amazing if the equality holds. The set of amazing roots, $\mathcal A$, is closed under the operation `$\vee$' in $Δ^+$, and $γ\in\mathcal A$ is said to be primitive, if it cannot be written as $γ_1\veeγ_2$ with incomparable amazing roots $γ_1,γ_2$. We c…
Brown and Gordon asked whether the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence holds for any complex affine Poisson algebra; that is, whether the sets of Poisson rational ideals, Poisson primitive ideals, and Poisson locally closed ideals coincide. In this article a complete answer is given to this question using techniques from differential-algebraic geometry and model theory. In particular, it is shown that while the sets of Poisson rational and Poisson primitive ideals do coincide, in every Krull dimension at least four there are complex affine Poisson algebras with Poisson rational ideals that are…
We study general properties of quantisations of Slodowy slices and discuss in detail the case of the minimal nilpotent orbit. Associated varieties of related primitive ideals of U(g) are determined, in the general case, and the de Vos-van Driel conjecture on Verma modules for finite W-algebras is proved in the minimal nilpotent case.
We develop a new approach to the representation theory of quantum algebras supporting a torus action via methods from the theory of finite-state automata and algebraic combinatorics. We show that for a fixed number $m$, the torus-invariant primitive ideals in $m\times n$ quantum matrices can be seen as a regular language in a natural way. Using this description and a semigroup approach to the set of Cauchon diagrams, a combinatorial object that paramaterizes the primes that are torus-invariant, we show that for $m$ fixed, the number of torus-invariant primitive ideals in $m\times n$ quantum ma…
We investigate the algebra $F_q(N)$ introduced by Faddeev, Reshetikhin and Takhadjian. In case $q$ is a primitive root of unity the degree, the center, and the set of irreducible representations are found. The Poisson structure is determined and the De Concini-Kac-Procesi Conjecture is proved for this case. In the case of $q$ generic, the primitive ideals are described. A related algebra studied by Oh is also treated.
We classify completely prime primitive ideals whose associated varieties are the closure of the minimal nilpotent orbit of $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}(n,\mathbb{C})$, and classify irreducible $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{k})$-modules which have those ideals as annihilators. Moreover, we irreducibly decompose them as $\mathfrak{k}$-modules.
Let ${\mathfrak g}$ be a finite dimensional complex simple Lie algebra, and let $r,s\in \mathbb{C}^{\ast}$ be transcendental over $\mathbb{Q}$ such that $r^{m}s^{n}=1$ implies $m=n=0$. We will obtain some basic properties of the two-parameter quantized enveloping algebra $U_{r,s}^{+}(\mathfrak g)$. In particular, we will verify that the algebra $U_{r,s}^{+}(\mathfrak g)$ satisfies many nice properties such as having normal separation, catenarity and Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence. We shall study a concrete example, the algebra $U_{r,s}^{+}(B_{2})$ in detail. We will first determine the normal ele…
Let $\bullet^†$ be the map in sense of the Losev, which sends the set of two sided ideals of a finite W-algebras to that of the universal enveloping algebra of corresponding Lie algebras. The Premet conjecture which was proved in \cite{Lo11}, says that, restricted to the set of primitive ideals with finite codimension, any fiber of the map $\bullet^†$ is a single orbit under an action of a finite group. In this article we formulate and prove a similar fact in the super case. This will give a classification to the set of finite dimensional irreducible representations of W-superalgebras provided…
In this article we prove that there exists a Dixmier map for nilpotent super Lie algebras. In other words, if we denote by Prim(U(g)) the set of (graded) primitive ideals of the enveloping algebra U(g) of g and Ad_0 the adjoint group of g_0, we prove that the usual Dixmier map for nilpotent Lie algebras can be naturally extended to the context of nilpotent super Lie algebras, i.e. there exists a bijective map \[ I : g_0^*/Ad_0 \rightarrow Prim(U(g)), \] defined by sending the equivalence class [lambda] of a functional lambda to a primitive ideal I(lambda) of U(g), and which coincides with the …
In the first part of this paper we present explicit formulas for primitive idempotents in arbitrary Frobenius algebras using the entries of representing matrices coming from projective indecomposable modules with respect to a certain choice of basis. The proofs use a generalisation of the well known Frobenius-Schur relations for semisimple algebras. The second part of this paper considers $\Oh$-free $\Oh$-algebras of finite $\Oh$-rank over a discrete valuation ring $\Oh$ and their decomposition maps under modular reduction modulo the maximal ideal of $\Oh$, thereby studying the modular represe…
Finite W-algebras are certain associative algebras arising in Lie theory. Each W-algebra is constructed from a pair of a semisimple Lie algebra g (our base field is algebraically closed and of characteristic 0) and its nilpotent element e. In this paper we classify finite dimensional irreducible modules with integral central character over W-algebras. In more detail, in a previous paper the first author proved that the component group A(e) of the centralizer of the nilpotent element under consideration acts on the set of finite dimensional irreducible modules over the W-algebra and the quotien…
