We give a characterization of the sets of objects of the derived category of a block of a finite group algebra (or other symmetric algebra) that occur as the set of images of simple modules under an equivalence of derived categories. We give some applications to proving that certain blocks have equivalent derived categories.
Let $\Mod \CS$ denote the category of $\CS$-modules, where $\CS$ is a small category. In the first part of this paper, we provide a version of Rickard's theorem on derived equivalence of rings for $\Mod \CS$. This will have several interesting applications. In the second part, we apply our techniques to get some interesting recollements of derived categories in different levels. We specialize our results to path rings as well as graded rings.
In this paper, we consider $n$-perforated Yoneda algebras for $n$-angulated categories, and show that, under some conditions, $n$-angles induce derived equivalences between the quotient algebras of $n$-perforated Yoneda algebras. This result generalizes some results of Hu, König and Xi. And it also establishes a connection between higher cluster theory and derived equivalences. Namely, in a cluster tilting subcategory of a triangulated category, an Auslander-Reiten $n$-angle implies a derived equivalence between two quotient algebras. This result can be compared with the fact that an Auslander…
Let $R$ be a right notherian ring. We introduce the concept of relative singularity category $Δ_{\mathcal{X}}(R)$ of $R$ with respect to a contravariantly finite subcategory $\mathcal{X}$ of $\rm{mod}\mbox{-}R.$ Along with some finiteness conditions on $\mathcal{X}$, we prove that $Δ_{\mathcal{X}}(R)$ is triangle equivalent to a subcategory of the homotopy category $\mathbb{K}_{\rm{ac}}(\mathcal{X})$ of exact complexes over $\mathcal{X}$. As an application, a new description of the classical singularity category $\mathbb{D}_{\rm{sg}}(R)$ is given. The relative singularity categories are applie…
We investigate a version of the Green correspondence for categories of complexes, including homotopy categories and derived categories. The correspondence is an equivalence between a category defined over a finite group $G$ and the same for a subgroup $H$, often the normalizer of a $p$-subgroup of $G$. We present a basic formula for deciding when categories of modules or complexes have a Green correspondence and apply it to many examples. In several cases the equivalence is an equivalence of triangulated categories, and in special cases it is an equivalence of tensor triangulated categories.
Let $\mathscr{A}$ be a small abelian category. For a closed subbifunctor $F$ of $\Ext_{\mathscr{A}}^{1}(-,-)$, Buan has generalized the construction of the Verdier's quotient category to get a relative derived category, where he localized with respect to $F$-acyclic complexes. In this paper, the homological properties of relative derived categories are discussed, and the relation with derived categories is given. For Artin algebras, using relatively derived categories, we give a relative version on derived equivalences induced by $F$-tilting complexes. We discuss the relationships between rela…
We deal with the finite-dimensional mesh algebras given by stable translation quivers. These algebras are self-injective, and thus the stable categories have a structure of triangulated categories. Our main result determines the Grothendieck groups of these stable categories. As an application, we give an complete classification of the mesh algebras up to stable equivalences.
Inspired by the recent work of Henrard, Kvamme and van Roosmalen [17], we prove a categorified version of higher Auslander correspondence in the context of exact categories. We define n-Auslander exact categories and show that there is a bijection between the equivalence classes of n-cluster tilting subcategories of exact categories and the equivalence classes of n-Auslander exact categories.
Given an ST-triple $(\mathcal{C},\mathcal{D},M)$ one can associate a co-$t$-structure on $\mathcal{C}$ and a $t$-structure on $\mathcal{D}$. It is shown that the discreteness of $\mathcal{C}$ with respect to the co-$t$-structure is equivalent to the discreteness of $\mathcal{D}$ with respect to the $t$-structure. As a special case, the discreteness of $\mathcal{D}^b(\mathrm{mod} A)$ in the sense of Vossieck is equivalent to the discreteness of $K^b(\mathrm{proj} A)$ in a dual sense, where $A$ is a finite-dimensional algebra.
In this paper we introduce a new approach for organizing algebras of global dimension at most 2. We introduce the notion of cluster equivalence for these algebras, based on whether their generalized cluster categories are equivalent. We are particularly interested in the question how much information about an algebra is preserved in its generalized cluster category, or, in other words, how closely two algebras are related if they have equivalent generalized cluster categories. Our approach makes use of the cluster-tilting objects in the generalized cluster categories: We first observe that clu…
In this paper, we discuss a relationship between representation theory of graded self-injective algebras and that of algebras of finite global dimension. For a positively graded self-injective algebra $A$ such that $A_0$ has finite global dimension, we construct two types of triangle-equivalences. First we show that there exists a triangle-equivalence between the stable category of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded $A$-modules and the derived category of a certain algebra $Γ$ of finite global dimension. Secondly we show that if $A$ has Gorenstein parameter $\ell$, then there exists a triangle-equivalence be…
The monomorphism category $\mathscr{S}(A, M, B)$ induced by a bimodule $_AM_B$ is the subcategory of $Λ$-mod consisting of $\left[\begin{smallmatrix} X\\ Y\end{smallmatrix}\right]_ϕ$ such that $ϕ: M\otimes_B Y\rightarrow X$ is a monic $A$-map, where $Λ=\left[\begin{smallmatrix} A&M\\0&B \end{smallmatrix}\right]$. In general, it is not the monomorphism categories induced by quivers. It could describe the Gorenstein-projective $\m$-modules. This monomorphism category is a resolving subcategory of $\modcatΛ$ if and only if $M_B$ is projective. In this case, it has enough injective objects and Aus…
The consistent systems of idempotents of Meyer and Solleveld allow to construct Serre subcategories of $Rep_R(G)$, the category of smooth representations of a $p$-adic group $G$ with coefficients in $R$. In particular, they were used to construct level 0 decompositions when $R=\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_{\ell}$, $\ell \neq p$, by Dat for $GL_n$ and the author for a more general group. Wang proved in the case of $GL_n$ that the subcategory associated with a system of idempotents is equivalent to a category of coefficient systems on the Bruhat-Tits building. This result was used by Dat to prove an eq…
We aim to study Morita theory for tensor triangulated categories. For two finite tensor categories having no projective simple objects, we prove that their stable equivalence induced by an exact $\Bbbk$-linear monoidal functor can be lifted to a tensor equivalence under some certain conditions.
The geometric Satake correspondence provides an equivalence of categories between the Satake category of spherical perverse sheaves on the affine Grassmannian and the category of representations of the dual group. In this note, we define a combinatorial version of the Satake category using irreducible components of fibres of the convolution morphism. We then prove an equivalence of coboundary categories between this combinatorial Satake category and the category of crystals of the dual group.
We associate a t-structure to a family of objects in D(A), the derived category of a Grothendieck category A. Using general results on t-structures, we give a new proof of Rickard's theorem on equivalence of bounded derived categories of modules. Also, we extend this result to bounded derived categories of quasi-coherent sheaves on separated divisorial schemes obtaining, in particular, Beilinson's equivalences.
This paper is a continuation and a completion of [BoRo1]. We extend the Jordan decomposition of blocks: we show that blocks of finite groups of Lie type in non-describing characteristic are Morita equivalent to blocks of subgroups associated to isolated elements of the dual group. The key new result is the invariance of the part of the cohomology in a given modular series of Deligne-Lusztig varieties associated to a given Levi subgroup, under certain variations of parabolic subgroups. We also show that the equivalence arises from a splendid Rickard equivalence. Even in the setting of [BoRo1], …
In this article, we investigate the condition for the hearts of twin cotorsion pairs to be equivalent, compatibly with the associated functors. This is related to the vanishing of components of pairs through the associated functors.
We complete the derived equivalence classification of all symmetric algebras of polynomial growth, by solving the subtle problem of distinguishing the standard and nonstandard nondomestic symmetric algebras of polynomial growth up to derived equivalence.
We consider categories over a field $k$ in order to prove that smash extensions and Galois coverings with respect to a finite group coincide up to Morita equivalence of $k$-categories. For this purpose we describe processes providing Morita equivalences called contraction and expansion. We prove that composition of these processes provides any Morita equivalence, a result which is related with the karoubianisation (or idempotent completion) and additivisation of a $k$-category.
We study two constructions related to the intervals of finite posets. The first one is a poset. The second one is more complicated. Loosely speaking it can be seen as a poset with some extra zero-relations. As main result, we show that these two constructions are equivalent at the level of derived categories.
We classify pointed fusion categories C(G, $ω$) up to Morita equivalence for 1 < |G| < 32. Among them, the cases |G| = 2 3 , 2 4 and 3 3 are emphasized. Although the equivalence classes of such categories are not distinguished by their Frobenius-Schur indicators, their categorical Morita equivalence classes are distinguished by the set of the indicators and ribbon twists of their Drinfeld centers. In particular, the modular data are a complete invariant for the modular categories Z(C(G, $ω$)) for |G[< 32. We use the computer algebra package GAP and present codes for treating complex-valued gro…
We prove in full generality that the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor, introduced by Kang-Kashiwara-Kim, gives an equivalence between the category of finite-dimensional modules over a quiver Hecke algebra and a certain full subcategory of finite-dimensional modules over a quantum affine algebra which is a generalization of the Hernandez-Leclerc's category $\mathcal{C}_Q$. This was previously proved in untwisted $ADE$ types by Fujita using the geometry of quiver varieties, which is not applicable in general. Our proof is purely algebraic, and so can be extended uniformly to…
Let $\kk$ be a commutative ring, $\AAA$ and $\BB$ -- two $\kk$-linear categories with an action of a group $G$. We introduce the notion of a standard $G$-equivalence from $\Kb\BB$ to $\Kb\AAA$. We construct a map from the set of standard $G$-equivalences to the set of standard equivalences from $\Kb\BB$ to $\Kb\AAA$ and a map from the set of standard $G$-equivalences from $\Kb\BB$ to $\Kb\AAA$ to the set of standard equivalences from $\Kb(\BB/G)$ to $\Kb(\AAA/G)$. We investigate the properties of these maps and apply our results to the case where $\AAA=\BB=R$ is a Frobenius $\kk$-algebra and $…
For coalgebras $C$ over a field, we study when the categories ${}^C\Mm$ of left $C$-comodules and $\Mm^C$ of right $C$-comodules are symmetric categories, in the sense that there is a duality between the categories of finitely presented unitary left $R$-modules and finitely presented unitary left $L$-modules, where $R$ and $L$ are the functor rings associated to the finitely accessible categories ${}^C\Mm$ and $\Mm^C$.
For an abelian category $\mathcal{A}$ we investigate when the stable categories $\underline{\mathrm{GPro}}\mathrm{j}(\mathcal{A})$ and $\underline{\mathrm{GIn}}\mathrm{j}(\mathcal{A})$ are triangulated equivalent. To this end, we realize these stable categories as homotopy categories of certain (non-trivial) model categories and give conditions on $\mathcal{A}$ that ensure the existence of a Quillen equivalence between the model categories in question. We also study when such a Quillen equivalence transfers from $\mathcal{A}$ to categories naturally associated to $\mathcal{A}$, such as $\mathr…
We construct a triangle equivalence between the singularity categories of two isolated cyclic quotient singularities of Krull dimensions two and three, respectively. This is the first example of a singular equivalence involving connected commutative algebras of odd and even Krull dimension. In combination with Orlov's localization result, this gives further singular equivalences between certain quasi-projective varieties of dimensions two and three, respectively.
By results of the second author, a source algebra equivalence between two $p$-blocks of finite groups induces an equivalence between the categories of cohomological Mackey functors associated with these blocks, and a splendid derived equivalence between two blocks induces a derived equivalence between the corresponding categories of cohomological Mackey functors. The main result of this paper proves a partial converse: an equivalence (resp. Rickard equivalence) between the categories of cohomological Mackey functors of two blocks of finite groups induces a permeable Morita (resp. derived) equi…
Let $\X$ be a resolving subcategory of an abelian category. In this paper we investigate the singularity category $\ds(\underline\X)=\db(\mod\underline\X)/\kb(\proj(\mod\underline\X))$ of the stable category $\underline\X$ of $\X$. We consider when the singularity category is triangle equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein projective objects, and when the stable categories of two resolving subcategories have triangle equivalent singularity categories. Applying this to the module category of a Gorenstein ring, we characterize simple hypersurface singularities of type $(\a_1)$ as comple…
We show that finitely generated cohomology is invariant under separable equivalences for all algebras. As a result, we obtain a proof of the finite generation of cohomology for finite symmetric tensor categories in characteristic zero, as conjectured by Etingof and Ostrik. Moreover, for such categories we also determine the representation dimension and the Rouquier dimension of the stable category. Finally, we recover a number of results on the cohomology of stably equivalent and singularly equivalent algebras.
Our published paper contains an incorrect statement of a result due to Artin and Zhang. This corrigendum gives the correct statement of their result and includes a new result that allows us to use their result to prove our main theorem. Thus the main theorem of our published paper is correct as stated but its proof must be modified.
We compute the monoidal and braided auto-equivalences of the modular tensor categories $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1},k)$, $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{so}_{2r+1},k)$, $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sp}_{2r},k)$, and $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{g}_{2},k)$. Along with the expected simple current auto-equivalences, we show the existence of the charge conjugation auto-equivalence of $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sl}_{r+1},k)$, and exceptional auto-equivalences of $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{so}_{2r+1},2)$, $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{sp}_{2r},r)$, $\mathcal{C}(\mathfrak{g}_{2},4)$. We end the paper with a section discussing poten…
We give a new moduli construction of the minimal resolution of the singularity of type 1/r(1,a) by introducing the Special McKay quiver. To demonstrate that our construction trumps that of the G-Hilbert scheme, we show that the induced tautological line bundles freely generate the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on X by establishing a suitable derived equivalence. This gives a moduli construction of the Special McKay correspondence for abelian subgroups of GL(2).
By results of Rognerud, a source algebra equivalence between two $p$-blocks of finite groups induces an equivalence between the categories of cohomological Mackey functors associated with these blocks, and a splendid derived equivalence between two blocks induces a derived equivalence between the corresponding categories of cohomological Mackey functors. We prove this by giving an intrinsic description of cohomological Mackey functors of a block in terms of the source algebras of the block, and then using this description to construct explicit two-sided tilting complexes realising the above me…
The Grothendieck construction of a diagram $X$ of categories can be seen as a process to construct a single category $\Gr(X)$ by gluing categories in the diagram together. Here we formulate diagrams of categories as colax functors from a small category $I$ to the 2-category $\kCat$ of small $\k$-categories for a fixed commutative ring $\k$. In our previous paper we defined derived equivalences of those colax functors. Roughly speaking two colax functors $X, X' \colon I \to \kCat$ are derived equivalent if there is a derived equivalence from $X(i)$ to $X'(i)$ for all objects $i$ in $I$ satisfyi…
The notion of right semi-equivalence in a right $(n+2)$-angulated category is defined in this article. Let $\mathscr C$ be an $n$-exangulated category and $\mathscr X$ is a strongly covariantly finite subcategory of $\mathscr C$. We prove that the standard right $(n+2)$-angulated category $\mathscr C/\mathscr X$ is right semi-equivalence under a natural assumption. As an application, we show that a right $(n+2)$-angulated category has an $n$-exangulated structure if and only if the suspension functor is right semi-equivalence. Besides, we also prove that an $n$-exangulated category $\mathscr C…
Tilting theory in cluster categories of hereditary algebras has been developed in [BMRRT] and [BMR]. These results are generalized to cluster categories of hereditary abelian categories. Furthermore, for any tilting object $T$ in a hereditary abelian category $\mathcal{H}$, we verify that the tilting functor Hom$_\mathcal{H}(T,-)$ induces a triangle equivalence from the cluster category $\mathcal{C(H)}$ to the cluster category $\mathcal{C}(A)$, where $A$ is the quasi-tilted algebra End$_{\mathcal{H}}T.$ Under the condition that one of derived categories of hereditary abelian categories $\mathc…
We study triangulated categories which can be modeled by an oriented marked surface $\mathcal{S}$ and a line field $η$ on $\mathcal{S}$. This includes bounded derived categories of gentle algebras and -- conjecturally -- all partially wrapped Fukaya categories introduced by Haiden-Katzarkov-Kontsevich. We show that triangle equivalences between such categories induce diffeomorphisms of the associated surfaces preserving orientation, marked points and line fields up to homotopy. This shows that the pair $(\mathcal{S}, η)$ is a triangle invariant of such categories and prove that it is a complet…
We show that the bigroupoid of separable symmetric Frobenius algebras over an algebraically closed field and the bigroupoid of finitely semi-simple Calabi-Yau categories are equivalent. To this end, we construct a trace on the category of finitely-generated representations of a symmetric, separable Frobenius algebra, given by the composite of the Frobenius form with the Hattori-Stallings trace. In order to put this result into perspective, we introduce the concept of the equivariantization of a 2-functor between bicategories endowed with a G-action. We prove that the equivalence between Froben…
We give two proofs to the following theorem and its generalization: if a finite dimensional algebra $A$ is derived equivalent to a smooth projective scheme, then any derived equivalence between $A$ and another algebra $B$ is standard, that is, isomorphic to the derived tensor functor by a two-sided tilting complex. The main ingredients of the proofs are as follows: (1) between the derived categories of two module categories, liftable functors coincide with standard functors; (2) any derived equivalence between a module category and an abelian category is uniquely factorized as the composition …
We prove that a certain homological epimorphism between two algebras induces a triangle equivalence between their singularity categories. Applying the result to a construction of matrix algebras, we describe the singularity categories of some non-Gorenstein algebras.
We call a triangulated category \emph{hereditary} provided that it is equivalent to the bounded derived category of a hereditary abelian category, where the equivalence is required to commute with the translation functors. If the triangulated category is algebraical, we may replace the equivalence by a triangle equivalence. We give two intrinsic characterizations of hereditary triangulated categories using a certain full subcategory and the non-existence of certain paths. We apply them to piecewise hereditary algebras.
In this brief postscript to our paper "Integral transforms and Drinfeld centers in derived algebraic geometry", we describe a Morita equivalence for derived, categorified matrix algebras implied by theory developed since its appearance. We work in the setting of perfect stacks X and their stable infinity-categories Q(X) of quasicoherent sheaves. Perfect stacks include all varieties and common stacks in characteristic zero, and their stable infinity-categories of sheaves are well behaved refinements of their quasicoherent derived categories, satisfying natural analogues of common properties of …
There are various adjunctions between model (co-)slice and slice categories. We characterize when these adjunctions are Quillen equivalences. As an application, a triangle equivalence between the stable category of a Frobenius category and the homotopy category of a non-pointed model category is given.
We give a sufficient condition for a Verdier quotient $\ct/\cs$ of a triangulated category $\ct$ by a thick subcategory $\cs$ to be realized inside of $\ct$ as an ideal quotient. As applications, we deduce three significant results by Buchweitz, Orlov and Amiot--Guo--Keller.
Given an artin algebra $Λ$ with an idempotent element $a$ we compare the algebras $Λ$ and $aΛa$ with respect to Gorensteinness, singularity categories and the finite generation condition Fg for the Hochschild cohomology. In particular, we identify assumptions on the idempotent element $a$ which ensure that $Λ$ is Gorenstein if and only if $aΛa$ is Gorenstein, that the singularity categories of $Λ$ and $aΛa$ are equivalent and that Fg holds for $Λ$ if and only if Fg holds for $aΛa$. We approach the problem by using recollements of abelian categories and we prove the results concerning Gorenstei…
From certain triangle functors, called non-negative functors, between the bounded derived categories of abelian categories with enough projective objects, we introduce their stable functors which are certain additive functors between the stable categories of the abelian categories. The construction generalizes a previous work by Hu and Xi. We show that the stable functors of non-negative functors have nice exactness property and are compatible with composition of functors. This allows us to compare conveniently the homological properties of objects linked by the stable functors. Particularly, …
We construct Knörrer type equivalences outside of the hypersurface case, namely, between singularity categories of cyclic quotient surface singularities and certain finite dimensional local algebras. This generalises Knörrer's equivalence for singularities of Dynkin type A (between Krull dimensions $2$ and $0$) and yields many new equivalences between singularity categories of finite dimensional algebras. Our construction uses noncommutative resolutions of singularities, relative singularity categories, and an idea of Hille & Ploog yielding strongly quasi-hereditary algebras which we describe …
This paper is investigative work into the properties of a family of graded algebras recently defined by Varagnolo and Vasserot, which we call VV algebras. We compare categories of modules over KLR algebras with categories of modules over VV algebras, establishing various Morita equivalences. Using these Morita equivalences we are able to prove several properties of certain classes of VV algebras such as (graded) affine cellularity and affine quasi-heredity.
We give a moduli interpretation of the outer automorphism group Out of a finite dimensional algebra similar to that of the Picard group of a scheme. We deduce that Out^0 is invariant under derived and stable equivalences. This allows us to transfer gradings between algebras and gives rise to conjectural homological constructions of interesting gradings on block of finite groups with abelian defect. We give applications to the lifting of stable equivalences to derived equivalences. We give a counterpart of the invariance result for smooth projective varieties: the product Pic^0xAut^0 is invaria…
Two left noetherian rings $R$ and $S$ are said to be {\it singularly equivalent} if their singularity categories are equivalent as triangulated categories. The aim of this paper is to give a necessary condition for two commutative noetherian rings to be singularly equivalent. To do this, we develop the support theory for triangulated categories without tensor structure.
We apply the Auslander-Buchweitz approximation theory to show that the Iyama and Yoshino's subfactor triangulated category can be realized as a triangulated quotient. Applications of this realization go in three directions. Firstly, we recover both a result of Iyama and Yang and a result of the third author. Secondly, we extend the classical Buchweitz's triangle equivalence from Iwanaga-Gorenstein rings to Noetherian rings. Finally, we obtain the converse of Buchweitz's triangle equivalence and a result of Beligiannis, and give characterizations for Iwanaga-Gorenstein rings and Gorenstein alge…
In this article, a new construction of derived equivalences is given. It relates different endomorphism rings and more generally cohomological endomorphism rings - including higher extensions - of objects in triangulated categories. These objects need to be connected by certain universal maps that are cohomological approximations and that exist in very general circumstances. The construction turns out to be applicable in a wide variety of situations, covering finite dimensional algebras as well as certain infinite dimensional algebras, Frobenius categories and $n$-Calabi-Yau categories.
