This paper deals with the study of the Malliavin calculus of Euclidean motions on Wiener space, (i.e. transformations induced by general measure preserving transformations, called `rotations', and H-valued shifts) and the associated flows on abstract Wiener spaces
The paper considers (a) Representations of measure preserving transformations (``rotations'') on Wiener space, and (b) The stochastic calculus of variations induced by parameterized rotations $\{T_θw, 0 \le θ\le \eps\}$: ``Directional derivatives'' $(dF(T_θw)/d θ)_{θ=0}$, ``vector fields'' or ``tangent processes'' $(dT_θw /dθ)_{θ=0}$ and flows of rotations.
We construct a perturbation of identity type mapping on an abstract Wiener space where the Cameron-Martin space has an orthonormal basis indexed by the jumps a one dimensional semimartingale. We then derive a change of variables formula and a degree type result for this map.
We define Wiener integrals with respect to Yeh processes and study their properties. In particular, we obtain the martingale property of the associated stochastic processes and give a series expansion of Wiener integrals with respect to centered Yeh process. Moreover, we derive a representation of an Yeh process in terms of a random series.
We prove the Wiener-Hopf factorization for Markov Additive processes. We derive also Spitzer-Rogozin theorem for this class of processes which serves for obtaining Kendall's formula and Fristedt representation of the cumulant matrix of the ladder epoch process. Finally, we also obtain the so-called ballot theorem.
Ciesielski's isomorphism between the space of alpha-Hölder continuous functions and the space of bounded sequences is used to give an alternative proof of the large deviation principle for Wiener processes with values in Hilbert space.
We study a class of self-similar processes with stationary increments belonging to higher order Wiener chaoses which are similar to Hermite processes. We obtain an almost sure wavelet-like expansion of these processes. This allows us to compute the pointwise and local Hölder regularity of sample paths and to analyse their behaviour at infinity. We also provide some results on the Hausdorff dimension of the range and graphs of multidimensional anisotropic self-similar processes with stationary increments defined by multiple Wiener integrals.
The solution of a (stochastic) differential equation (SDE) can be locally approximated by a stochastic expansion, a linear combination of iterated integrals. Quantities of interest, like moments, can then be approximated with the expansion. We present a formula for the case where the drivers of the equation are time and Wiener processes. We also present a Mathematica implementation of the result.
In this work cylindrical Wiener processes on Banach spaces are defined by means of cylindrical stochastic processes, which are a well considered mathematical object. This approach allows a definition which is a simple straightforward extension of the real-valued situation. We apply this definition to introduce a stochastic integral with respect to cylindrical Wiener processes. Again, this definition is a straightforward extension of the real-valued situation which results now in simple conditions on the integrand. In particular, we do not have to put any geometric constraints on the Banach spa…
In this paper we study algebraic structures of the classes of the $L_2$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transforms on Wiener space. To do this we first develop several rotation properties of the generalized Wiener integral associated with Gaussian processes. We then proceed to analyze the $L_2$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transforms associated with Gaussian processes. Our results show that these $L_2$ analytic Fourier--Feynman transforms are actually linear operator isomorphisms from a Hilbert space into itself. We finally investigate the algebraic structures of these classes of the transforms on Wiener…
In this paper we study the optimal stopping problem for Lévy processes studied by Novikov and Shiryayev, Stochastics, 2007 In particular, we are interested in finding the representing measure of the value function. It is seen that that this can be expressed in terms of the Appell polynomials. An important tool in our approach and computations is the Wiener-Hopf factorization.
We study the distribution of the negative Wiener-Hopf factor for a class of two-sided jumps Lévy processes whose positive jumps have a rational Laplace transform. The positive Wiener-Hopf factor for this class of processes was studied by Lewis and Mordecki (2008). Here we obtain a formula for the Laplace transform of the negative Wiener-Hopf factor, as well as an explicit expression for its probability density, which is in terms of sums of convolutions of known functions. Under additional regularity conditions on the Lévy measure of the studied processes, we also provide asymptotic results as …
In this paper we study the Wiener-Hopf factorization for a class of Lévy processes with double-sided jumps, characterized by the fact that the density of the Lévy measure is given by an infinite series of exponential functions with positive coefficients. We express the Wiener-Hopf factors as infinite products over roots of a certain transcendental equation, and provide a series representation for the distribution of the supremum/infimum process evaluated at an independent exponential time. We also introduce five eight-parameter families of Lévy processes, defined by the fact that the density o…
We consider a class of Markov processes with resettings, where at random times, the Markov processes are restarted from a predetermined point or a region. These processes are frequently applied in physics, chemistry, biology, economics, and in population dynamics. In this paper we establish the local large deviation principle (LLDP) for the Wiener processes with random resettings, where the resettings occur at the arrival time of a Poisson process. Here, at each resetting time, a new resetting point is selected at random, according to a conditional distribution.
Let $\{X_{1}(t)\}_{0\leq t\leq1}$ and $\{X_{2}(t)\}_{0\leq t\leq1}$ be two independent continuous centered Gaussian processes with covariance functions$R_{1}$ and $R_{2}$. This paper shows that if the covariance functions are of finite $p$-variation and $q$-variation respectively and such that $p^{-1}+q^{-1}>1$,then the L{é}vy area can be defined as a double Wiener--Itò integral with respect to an isonormal Gaussian process induced by $X_{1}$ and $X_{2}$. Moreover, some properties of the characteristic function of that generalised L{é}vy area are studied.
We study the convergence to the multiple Wiener-Itô integral from processes with absolutely continuous paths. More precisely, consider a family of processes, with paths in the Cameron-Martin space, that converges weakly to a standard Brownian motion in $\mathcal C_0([0,T])$. Using these processes, we construct a family that converges weakly, in the sense of the finite dimensional distributions, to the multiple Wiener-Itô integral process of a function $f\in L^2([0,T]^n)$. We prove also the weak convergence in the space $\mathcal C_0([0,T])$ to the second order integral for two important famili…
We derive formulae for some ratios of the Macdonald functions, which are simpler and easier to treat than known formulae. The result gives two applications in probability theory. One is the formula for the L{é}vy measure of the distribution of the first hitting time of a Bessel process and the other is an explicit form for the expected volume of the Wiener sausage for an even dimensional Brownian motion. Moreover, the result enables us to write down the algebraic equations whose roots are the zeros of Macdonald functions.
We introduce a differential structure for the space of weakly geometric p rough paths over a Banach space V for 2<p<3. We begin by considering a certain natural family of smooth rough paths and differentiating in the truncated tensor series. The resulting object has a clear interpretation, even for non-smooth rough paths, which we take to be an element of the tangent space. We can associate it uniquely to an equivalence class of curves, with equivalence defined by our differential structure. Thus, for a functional on rough path space, we can define the derivative in a tangent direction analogo…
We introduce the notion of {\em covariance measure structure} for square integrable stochastic processes. We define Wiener integral, we develop a suitable formalism for stochastic calculus of variations and we make Gaussian assumptions only when necessary. Our main examples are finite quadratric variation processes with stationary increments and the bifractional Brownian motion.
We collect, scattered through literature, as well as we prove some new properties of two Markov processes that in many ways resemble Wiener and Ornstein--Uhlenbeck processes. Although processes considered in this paper were defined either in non-commutative probability context or through quadratic harnesses we define them once more as so to say 'continuous time ' generalization of a simple, symmetric, discrete time process satisfying simple conditions imposed on the form of its first two conditional moments. The finite dimensional distributions of the first one (say X=(X_{t})_{t\geq0} called q…
We consider a utility maximization problem in a broad class of markets. Apart from traditional semimartingale markets, our class of markets includes processes with long memory, fractional Brownian motion and related processes, and, in general, Gaussian processes satisfying certain regularity conditions on their covariance functions. Our choice of markets is motivated by the well-known phenomena of the so-called "constant" and "variable depth" memory observed in real world price processes, for which fractional and multifractional models are the most adequate descriptions. We introduce the notio…
We study the Wiener-Hopf factorization for Levy processes with bounded positive jumps and arbitrary negative jumps. Using the results from the theory of entire functions of Cartwright class we prove that the positive Wiener-Hopf factor can be expressed as an infinite product in terms of the solutions to the equation $ψ(z)=q$, where $ψ$ is the Laplace exponent of the process. Under some additional regularity assumptions on the Levy measure we obtain an asymptotic expression for these solutions, which is important for numerical computations. In the case when the process is spectrally negative wi…
We investigate Wiener-transformable markets, where the driving process is given by an adapted transformation of a Wiener process. This includes processes with long memory, like fractional Brownian motion and related processes, and, in general, Gaussian processes satisfying certain regularity conditions on their covariance functions. Our choice of markets is motivated by the well-known phenomena of the so-called `constant' and `variable depth' memory observed in real world price processes, for which fractional and multifractional models are the most adequate descriptions. Motivated by integral …
In this paper we introduce a ten-parameter family of Lévy processes for which we obtain Wiener-Hopf factors and distribution of the supremum process in semi-explicit form. This family allows an arbitrary behavior of small jumps and includes processes similar to the generalized tempered stable, KoBoL and CGMY processes. Analytically it is characterized by the property that the characteristic exponent is a meromorphic function, expressed in terms of beta and digamma functions. We prove that the Wiener-Hopf factors can be expressed as infinite products over roots of a certain transcendental equat…
Given a two-dimensional correlated diffusion process, we determine the joint density of the first passage times of the process to some constant boundaries. This quantity depends on the joint density of the first passage time of the first crossing component and of the position of the second crossing component before its crossing time. First we show that these densities are solutions of a system of Volterra-Fredholm first kind integral equations. Then we propose a numerical algorithm to solve it and we describe how to use the algorithm to approximate the joint density of the first passage times.…
Malliavin Calculus is about Sobolev-type regularity of functionals on Wiener space, the main example being the Ito map obtained by solving stochastic differential equations. Rough path analysis is about strong regularity of solution to (possibly stochastic) differential equations. We combine arguments of both theories and discuss existence of a density for solutions to stochastic differential equations driven by a general class of non-degenerate Gaussian processes, including processes with sample path regularity worse than Brownian motion.
We develop a stochastic analysis for a Gaussian process $X$ with singular covariance by an intrinsic procedure focusing on several examples such as covariance measure structure processes, bifractional Brownian motion, processes with stationary increments. We introduce some new spaces associated with the self-reproducing kernel space and we define the Paley-Wiener integral of first and second order even when $X$ is only a square integrable process continuous in $L^2$. If $X$ has stationary increments, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions so that its paths belong to the self-reproducin…
For $γ>-{1/2}$, we provide the Karhunen-Loève expansion of the weighted mean-centered Wiener process, defined by \[W _γ(t)=\frac{1}{\sqrt{1+2γ}}\Big\{W\big(t^{1+2γ}\big)- \int_0^1W\big(u^{1+2γ}\big)du\Big\},\] for $t\in(0,1]$. We show that the orthogonal functions in these expansions have simple expressions in term of Bessel functions. Moreover, we obtain that the $L^2[0,1]$ norm of $W_γ$ is identical in distribution with the $L^2[0,1]$ norm of the weighted Brownian bridge $t^γB(t)$.
In Kuznetsov et al. (2011) a new Monte Carlo simulation technique was introduced for a large family of Levy processes that is based on the Wiener-Hopf decomposition. We pursue this idea further by combining their technique with the recently introduced multilevel Monte Carlo methodology. Moreover, we provide here for the first time a theoretical analysis of the new Monte Carlo simulation technique in Kuznetsov et al. (2011) and of its multilevel variant for computing expectations of functions depending on the historical trajectory of a Levy process. We derive rates of convergence for both metho…
This paper focuses on the time-changed Q-Wiener process, a Hilbert space-valued sub-diffusion. It is a martingale with respect to an appropriate filtration, hence a stochastic integral with respect to it is definable. For the resulting integral, two change of variables formulas are derived. Via a duality theorem for integrals, existence and uniqueness theorems for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by the time-changed Q-Wiener process are discussed. Associated fractional Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equations are derived using either a time-changed Itô formula or duality. Connections …
The paper studies Dirichlet forms on the classical Wiener space and the Wiener space over non-compact complete Riemannian manifolds. The diffusion operator is almost everywhere an unbounded operator on the Cameron--Martin space. In particular, it is shown that under a class of changes of the reference measure, quasi-regularity of the form is preserved. We also show that under these changes of the reference measure, derivative and divergence are closable with certain closable inverses. We first treat the case of the classical Wiener space and then we transfer the results to the Wiener space ove…
We study the Wiener--Hopf factorization and the distribution of extrema for general stable processes. By connecting the Wiener--Hopf factors with a certain elliptic-like function we are able to obtain many explicit and general results, such as infinite series representations and asymptotic expansions for the density of supremum, explicit expressions for the Wiener--Hopf factors and the Mellin transform of the supremum, quasi-periodicity and functional identities for these functions, finite product representations in some special cases and identities in distribution satisfied by the supremum fu…
On Analytically Tractable Multidimensional Diffusions via Doob h-Transforms, with Resetting and Applications to Wiener and Ornstein--Uhlenbeck Processes
By using stochastic calculus for two-parameter processes and chaos expansion into multiple Wiener-Itô integrals, we define a 2D-stochastic current over the Brownian sheet. This concept comes from geometric measure theory. We also study the regularity of the stochastic current with respect to the randomness variable in the Watanabe spaces and with respect to the spatial variable in the deterministic Sobolev spaces.
We consider a process $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ in a fixed Wiener chaos $\mathcal{H}_n$. We establish some non-degenerate properties and related results for $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$. As an application, we show that solution to SDE driven by $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ admits a density. Our approach relies on an interplay between Malliavin calculus and analysis on Wiener space.
We define multifractional Hermite processes which generalize and extend both multifractional Brownian motion and Hermite processes. It is done by substituting the Hurst parameter in the definition of Hermite processes as a multiple Wiener-Itô integral by a Hurst function. Then, we study the pointwise regularity of these processes, their local asymptotic self-similarity and some fractal dimensions of their graph. Our results show that the fundamental properties of multifractional Hermite processes are, as desired, governed by the Hurst function. Complements are given in the second order Wiener …
In this paper we obtain a Wiener-Hopf type factorization for a real-valued arithmetic Brownian motion with time-dependent drift and volatility. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the very first step towards realizing the objective of deriving Wiener-Hopf type factorizations for (real-valued) time-inhomogeneous Levy processes. In order to prove our main theorem, we derive some new results regarding time-inhomogeneous noisy Wiener-Hopf factorization. We demonstrate that in the special case of the arithmetic Brownian motion with constant drift and volatility our main result agrees with c…
In this paper, we define, via Fourier transform, an ergodic flow of transformations of a Wiener space which preserves the law of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and which interpolates the iterations of a transformation previously defined by Jeulin and Yor. Then, we give a more explicit expression for this flow, and we construct from it a continuous gaussian process indexed by R^2, such that all its restriction obtained by fixing the first coordinate are Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes.
In this paper we introduce the concept of a convolution type operation of functionals on Wiener space. It contains several kinds of the concepts of convolution products on Wiener space, which have been studied by many authors. We then investigate fundamental relationships between generalized analytic Fourier--Feynman transforms and convolution type operations. Both of the generalized analytic Fourier--Feynman transform of the convolution type operation and the convolution type operation of the generalized analytic Fourier--Feynman transforms are represented as a product of the generalized anal…
For a Lévy process $ξ=(ξ_t)_{t\geq0}$ drifting to $-\infty$, we define the so-called exponential functional as follows \[{\rm{I}}_ξ=\int_0^{\infty}e^{ξ_t} dt.\] Under mild conditions on $ξ$, we show that the following factorization of exponential functionals \[{\rm{I}}_ξ\stackrel{d}={\rm{I}}_{H^-} \times {\rm{I}}_{Y}\] holds, where, $\times $ stands for the product of independent random variables, $H^-$ is the descending ladder height process of $ξ$ and $Y$ is a spectrally positive Lévy process with a negative mean constructed from its ascending ladder height process. As a by-product, we gener…
In this paper we introduce a simple space-filtration discretization scheme on Wiener space which allows us to study weak decompositions and smooth explicit approximations for a large class of Wiener functionals. We show that any Wiener functional has an underlying robust semimartingale skeleton which under mild conditions converges to it. The discretization is given in terms of discrete-jumping filtrations which allow us to approximate nonsmooth processes by means of a stochastic derivative operator on the Wiener space. As a by-product, we provide a robust semimartingale approximation for weak…
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of the quadratic variation for the class of AR(1) processes driven by white noise in the second Wiener chaos. Using tools from the analysis on Wiener space, we give an upper bound for the total-variation speed of convergence to the normal law, which we apply to study the estimation of the model's mean-reversion. Simulations are performed to illustrate the theoretical results.
We prove the chain rule in the more general framework of the Wiener-Poisson space, allowing us to obtain the so-called Nourdin-Peccati bound. From this bound we obtain a second-order Poincare-type inequality that is useful in terms of computations. For completeness we survey these results on the Wiener space, the Poisson space, and the Wiener-Poisson space. We also give several applications to central limit theorems with relevant examples: linear functionals of Gaussian subordinated fields (where the subordinated field can be processes like fractional Brownian motion or the solution of the Orn…
We study the asymptotic behaviour of a properly normalized time changed Wiener processes. The time change reflects the fact that we consider the Laplace operator (which generates a Wiener process) multiplied by a possibly degenerate state-space dependent intensity $λ(x)$. Applying a functional limit theorem for the superposition of stochastic processes, we prove functional limit theorems for the normalized time changed Wiener process. The normalization depends on the asymptotic behaviour of the intensity function $λ$. One of the possible limits is a skew Brownian motion.
The last couple of years has seen a remarkable number of new, explicit examples of the Wiener-Hopf factorization for Levy processes where previously there had been very few. We mention in particular the many cases of spectrally negative Levy processes, hyper-exponential and generalized hyper-exponential Levy processes, Lamperti-stable processes, Hypergeometric processes, Beta-processes and Theta-processes. In this paper we introduce a new family of Levy processes, which we call Meromorphic Levy processes, or just M-processes for short, which overlaps with many of the aforementioned classes. A …
This survey is a preliminary version of a chapter of the forthcoming book "Stochastic Analysis for Poisson Point Processes: Malliavin Calculus, Wiener-Itô Chaos Expansions and Stochastic Geometry" edited by Giovanni Peccati and Matthias Reitzner. The paper develops some basic theory for the stochastic analysis of Poisson process on a general $σ$-finite measure space. After giving some fundamental definitions and properties (as the multivariate Mecke equation) the paper presents the Fock space representation of square-integrable functions of a Poisson process in terms of iterated difference ope…
Let $(W,H,μ)$ be the classical Wiener space, assume that $U=I_W+u$ is an adapted perturbation of identity where the perturbation $u$ is an equivalence class w.r.to the Wiener measure. We study several necessary and sufficient conditions for the almost sure invertibility of such maps. In particular the subclass of these maps who preserve the Wiener measure are characterized in terms of the corresponding innovation processes. We give the following application: let $U$ be invertible and let $τ$ be stopping time. Define $U^τ$ as $I_W+u^τ$ where $u^τ$ is given by $$ u^τ(t,w)=\int_0^t 1_{[0,τ(w)]}(s…
We combine Malliavin calculus with Stein's method to derive bounds for the Variance-Gamma approximation of functionals of isonormal Gaussian processes, in particular of random variables living inside a fixed Wiener chaos induced by such a process. The bounds are presented in terms of Malliavin operators and norms of contractions. We show that a sequence of distributions of random variables in the second Wiener chaos converges to a Variance-Gamma distribution if and only if their moments of order two to six converge to that of a Variance-Gamma distributed random variable (six moment theorem). M…
In this note we apply the recently established Wiener-Hopf Monte Carlo (WHMC) simulation technique for Levy processes from Kuznetsov et al. [17] to path functionals, in particular first passage times, overshoots, undershoots and the last maximum before the passage time. Such functionals have many applications, for instance in finance (the pricing of exotic options in a Levy model) and insurance (ruin time, debt at ruin and related quantities for a Levy insurance risk process). The technique works for any Levy process whose running infimum and supremum evaluated at an independent exponential ti…
We consider a class of one-dimensional nonlinear stochastic parabolic problems associated with Sellers and Budyko diffusive energy balance climate models with a Legendre weighted diffusion and an additive cylindrical Wiener processes forcing. Our results use in an important way that, under suitable assumptions on the Wiener processes, a suitable change of variables leads the problem to a pathwise random PDE, hence an essentially "deterministic" formulation depending on a random parameter. Two applications are also given: the stability of solutions when the Wiener process converges to zero and …
In the present paper, we consider long time behaviors of the volume of the Wiener sausage on Dirichlet spaces. We focus on the volume of the Wiener sausage for diffusion processes on metric measure spaces other than the Euclid space equipped with the Lebesgue measure. We obtain the growth rate of the expectations and almost sure behaviors of the volumes of the Wiener sausages on metric measure Dirichlet spaces satisfying Ahlfors regularity and sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimates. We show that the growth rate of the expectations on a "bounded" modification of the Euclidian space is identical wit…
