We study the linearization problem of germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms with resonant linear part. The formal linearization requires in general an infinite number of algebraic relations to be satisfied by the coefficients of the power series defining the holomorphic germ. For a fixed germ, the linearizing mappings are not unique, but the existence of a finite jet with a formal divergent linearization but no convergent one forces all the other linearizing mappings to be diverging. We consider also polynomial families formally conjugated to a fixed resonant linear part. Then all the elements of the family are holomorphically linearizable, or we are in the precedent diverging situation for all but an exceptional set of parameter values of zero $Γ$-capacity. In the case of maximal non-trivial resonance we prove the optimality of Bruno condition.
We study Siegel's center problem on the linearization of germs of diffeomorphisms in one variable. In addition of the classical problems of formal and analytic linearization, we give sufficient conditions for the linearization to belong to some algebras of ultradifferentiable germs closed under composition and derivation, including Gevrey classes. In the analytic case we give a positive answer to a question of J.-C. Yoccoz on the optimality of the estimates obtained by the classical majorant series method. In the ultradifferentiable case we prove that the Brjuno condition is sufficient for the…
We prove that a hyperbolic Dulac germ with complex coefficients in its expansion is linearizable on a standard quadratic domain and that the linearizing coordinate is again a complex Dulac germ. The proof uses results about normal forms of hyperbolic transseries from another work of the authors.
We consider holomorphic semicocycles on the open unit ball in a Banach space taking values in a Banach algebra. We establish criteria for a semicocycle to be linearizable, that is, cohomologically equivalent to one independent of the spatial variable.
In this paper we study bilipschitz equivalences of germs of holomorphic foliations in $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$. We prove that the algebraic multiplicity of a singularity is invariant by such equivalences. Moreover, for a large class of singularities, we show that the projective holonomy representation is also a bilipschitz invariant.
Let $f$ be a germ of holomorphic diffeomorphism of $\C^n$ fixing the origin $O$, with $df_O$ diagonalizable. We prove that, under certain arithmetic conditions on the eigenvalues of $df_O$ and some restrictions on the resonances, $f$ is locally holomorphically linearizable if and only if there exists a particular $f$-invariant complex manifold. Most of the classical linearization results can be obtained as corollaries of our result.
We prove the existence of hedgehogs for germs of complex analytic diffeomorphisms of $(\mathbb{C}^{2},0)$ with a semi-neutral fixed point at the origin, using topological techniques. This approach also provides an alternative proof of a theorem of Pérez-Marco on the existence of hedgehogs for germs of univalent holomorphic maps of $(\mathbb{C},0)$ with a neutral fixed point.
The classification, by topological conjugacy, of invertible holomorphic germs $f:(\mathbb{C}^n,0)\to (\mathbb{C}^n,0)$, with $λ_1,...,λ_n$ eigenvalues of $df_0$, and $|λ_i|\neq 1$ for $i=2,...,n$ while $λ_1$ is a root of the unity, is given, in the suitable hypothesis of ``quasi-absence'' of resonances.
By applying holomorphic motions, we prove that a parabolic germ is quasiconformally rigid, that is, any two topologically conjugate parabolic germs are quasiconformally conjugate and the conjugacy can be chosen to be more and more near conformal as long as we consider these germs defined on smaller and smaller neighborhoods. Before proving this theorem, we use the idea of holomorphic motions to give a conceptual proof of the Fatou linearization theorem. As a by-product, we also prove that any finite number of analytic germs at different points in the Riemann sphere can be extended to a quasico…
Let $f_1, ..., f_h$ be $h\ge 2$ germs of biholomorphisms of $\C^n$ fixing the origin. We investigate the shape a (formal) simultaneous linearization of the given germs can have, and we prove that if $f_1, ..., f_h$ commute and their linear parts are almost simultaneously Jordanizable then they are simultaneously formally linearizable. We next introduce a simultaneous Brjuno-type condition and prove that, in case the linear terms of the germs are diagonalizable, if the germs commutes and our Brjuno-type condition holds, then they are holomorphically simultaneously linerizable. This answers to a…
Gambaudo and Pécou introduced the ``linking property'' to study the dynamics of germs of planar homeomorphims and provide a new proof of Naishul theorem in their paper "A topological invariant for volume preserving diffeomorphisms" (Ergodic Theory Dynam. Systems 15 (1995), no. 3, 535--541). In this paper we prove that the negation of Gambaudo-Pécou property characterises the topological dynamics of holomorphic parabolic germs. As a consequence, a rotation set for germs of surface homeomorphisms around a fixed point can be defined, and it will turn out to be non trivial except for countably man…
We study holomorphic germs $f:(\mathbb{C}^2, 0) \rightarrow (\mathbb{C}^2,0) with non-invertible differential $df_0$. In order to do this, we search for a modification $π:X \rightarrow (\mathbb{C}^2,0)$ (i.e., a composition of point blow-ups over the origin), and an infinitely near point $p \in π^{-1}(0)$, such that the germ $f$ lifts to a holomorphic germ $\hat{f}:(X,p) \rightarrow (X,p)$ which is rigid (i.e., the generalized critical set of $\hat{f}$ is totally invariant and has normal crossings at $p$). We extend a previous result for superattracting germs to the general case, and deal with…
Let $f_1, ..., f_m$ be $m\ge 2$ germs of biholomorphisms of $\C^n$, fixing the origin, with $(\d f_1)_O$ diagonalizable and such that $f_1$ commutes with $f_h$ for any $h=2,..., m$. We prove that, under certain arithmetic conditions on the eigenvalues of $(\d f_1)_O$ and some restrictions on their resonances, $f_1, ..., f_m$ are simultaneously holomorphically linearizable if and only if there exists a particular complex manifold invariant under $f_1,..., f_m$.
Let f_1,...,f_N be commuting germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms in C fixing the origin with irrational rationally independent rotation numbers alpha_1,...,alpha_N. We adapt Yoccoz' renormalization of germs to this setting to show that a Brjuno-type condition on simultaneous Diophantine approximability of the rotation numbers is sufficient for simultaneous linearizability of f_1,...,f_N. This generalizes a result of Moser's. In the absence of periodic orbits we show that a weaker arithmetic condition analogous to that of Perez-Marco's for the case of a single germ is sufficent for linearizabi…
We prove that the linearization of a germ of holomorphic map of the type $F_λ(z)=λ(z+O(z^2))$ has a $ C^1$--holomorphic dependence on the multiplier $λ$. $C^1$--holomorphic functions are $ C^1$--Whitney smooth functions, defined on compact subsets and which belong to the kernel of the $\bar{\partial}$ operator. The linearization is analytic for $|λ|\not= 1$ and the unit circle $S^1$ appears as a natural boundary (because of resonances, i.e. roots of unity). However the linearization is still defined at most points of $S^1$, namely those points which lie ``far enough from resonances'', i.e. whe…
We study the Siegel--Schröder center problem on the linearization of analytic germs of diffeomorphisms in several complex variables, in the Gevrey--$s$, $s>0$ category. We introduce a new arithmetical condition of Bruno type on the linear part of the given germ, which ensures the existence of a Gevrey--$s$ formal linearization. We use this fact to prove the effective stability, i.e. stability for finite but long time, of neighborhoods of the origin for the analytic germ.
Following Favre, we define a holomorphic germ f:(C^d,0) -> (C^d,0) to be rigid if the union of the critical set of all iterates has simple normal crossing singularities. We give a partial classification of contracting rigid germs in arbitrary dimensions up to holomorphic conjugacy. Interestingly enough, we find new resonance phenomena involving the differential of f and its linear action on the fundamental group of the complement of the critical set.
We consider the problem of extending germs of plane holomorphic foliations to foliations of compact surfaces. We show that the germs that become regular after a single blow up and admit meromorphic first integrals can be extended, after local changes of coordinates, to foliations of compact surfaces. We also show that the simplest elements in this class can be defined by polynomial equations. On the other hand we prove that, in the absence of meromorphic first integrals there are uncountably many elements without polynomial representations.
We prove the existence (and give a characterization) of a germ of complex analytic set left invariant by an abelian group of germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms at a common fixed point. We also give condition that ensure that such a group can be linearized holomorphically near the fixed point. It rests on a "small divisors condition" of the family of linear parts. The second part of this article is devoted to the study families of totally real intersecting n-submanifolds of (C n , 0). We give some conditions which allow to straighten holomorphically the family. If this is not possible to do it…
We consider holomorphic maps defined in an annulus around $\mathbb R/\mathbb Z$ in $\mathbb C/\mathbb Z$. E. Risler proved that in a generic analytic family of such maps $f_ζ$ that contains a Brjuno rotation $f_0(z)=z+α$, all maps that are conjugate to this rotation form a codimension-1 analytic submanifold near $f_0$. In this paper, we obtain the Risler's result as a corollary of the following construction. We introduce a renormalization operator on the space of univalent maps in a neighborhood of $\mathbb R/\mathbb Z$. We prove that this operator is hyperbolic, with one unstable direction co…
We prove the holomorphic linearizability of germs of biholomorphisms of (C n , 0), fixing the origin, point at which the linear part has nontrivial Jordan blocks under the following assumptions : We first assume the eigenvalues are of modulus less or equal than 1, and that they are non-resonant. We also assume that they satisfied not only a classical Diophantine condition but also new Diophantine-like conditions related to quasi-resonance phenomena.
In this revised version, applying a general renormalization procedure for formal self-maps, producing a formal normal form simpler than the classical Poincaré-Dulac normal form, we shall give a complete list of normal forms for bi-dimensional superattracting germs with non-vanishing quadratic term; in most cases, our normal forms will be the simplest possible ones (in the sense of Wang, Zheng and Peng). We shall also discuss a few examples of renormalization of germs tangent to the identity, revealing interesting second-order resonance phenomena.
We consider germs of holomorphic vector fields with an isolated singularity at the origin $0\in\mathbb{C}^2$. We introduce a notion of stability, similar to "Lyapunov stability". For such a germ, called $L$-stable singularity, either the corresponding foliation admits a holomorphic first integral, or it is a real logarithmic foliation singularity. A notion of $L$-stability is also naturally introduced for a leaf of a foliation. In the complex codimension one case, for holomorphic foliations, the holonomy groups of $L$-stable leaves are proved to be abelian, of a suitable type. This implies the…
We investigate the local dynamics of antiholomorphic diffeomorphisms around a parabolic fixed point. We first give a normal form. Then we give a complete classification including a modulus space for antiholomorphic germs with a parabolic fixed point under analytic conjugacy. We then study some geometric applications: existence of real analytic invariant curve, existence of holomorphic and antiholomorphic roots of holomorphic and antiholomorphic parabolic germs, commuting holomorphic and antiholomorphic parabolic germs.
We give a complete topological classification of germs of holomorphic foliations in the plane under rather generic conditions. The key point is the introduction of a new topological invariant called monodromy representation. This monodromy contains all the relevant dynamical information, in particular the projective holonomy representation whose topological invariance was conjectured in the eighties by Cerveau and Sad and proved here under mild hypotheses.
Perez-Marco proved the existence of non-trivial totally invariant connected compacts called hedgehogs near the fixed point of a nonlinearizable germ of holomorphic diffeomorphism. We show that if two nonlinearisable holomorphic germs with a common indifferent fixed point have a common hedgehog then they must commute. This allows us to establish a correspondence between hedgehogs and nonlinearizable maximal abelian subgroups of Diff$(\bf C,0)$. We also show that two nonlinearizable germs are conjugate if and only if their rotation numbers are equal and a hedgehog of one can be mapped conformall…
We prove that a $C^{\infty}$ equivalence between germs holomorphic foliations at $({\mathbb C}^2,0)$ establishes a bijection between the sets of formal separatrices preserving equisingularity classes. As a consequence, if one of the foliations is of second type, so is the other and they are equisingular.
We are interested in characterizing the holonomy maps associated to integral curves of non-degenerate singularities of holomorphic vector fields. Such a description is well-known in dimension 2 where is a key ingredient in the study of reduced singularities. The most intricate case in the 2 dimensional setting corresponds to (Siegel) saddle singularities. This work treats the analogous problem for saddles in higher dimension. We show that any germ of holomorphic biholomorphism, in any dimension, can be obtained as the holonomy map associated to an integral curve of a saddle singularity. A natu…
This work deals with the topological classification of germs of singular foliations on $(\mathbb C^{2},0)$. Working in a suitable class of foliations we fix the topological invariants given by the separatrix set, the Camacho-Sad indices and the projective holonomy representations and we compute the moduli space of topological classes in terms of the cohomology of a new algebraic object that we call group-graph. This moduli space may be an infinite dimensional functional space but under generic conditions we prove that it has finite dimension and we describe its algebraic and topological struct…
We investigate residue-type indices for germs of holomorphic foliations in the plane and characterize second type foliations - those not containing tangent saddle-nodes in the reduction of singularities - by an expression involving the Baum-Bott, variation and polar excess indices. These local results are applied in the study of logarithmic foliations on compact complex surfaces.
This work deals with the topological classification of singular foliation germs on $(\mathbb C^{2},0)$. Working in a suitable class of foliations we fix the topological invariants given by the separatrix set, the Camacho-Sad indices and the projective holonomy representations and we prove the existence of a topological universal deformation through which every equisingular deformation uniquely factorizes up to topological conjugacy. This is done by representing the functor of topological classes of equisingular deformations of a fixed foliation. We also describe the functorial dependence of th…
The classical Lagrange inversion formula is extended to analytic and non--analytic inversion problems on non--Archimedean fields. We give some applications to the field of formal Laurent series in $n$ variables, where the non--analytic inversion formula gives explicit formal solutions of general semilinear differential and $q$--difference equations. We will be interested in linearization problems for germs of diffeomorphisms (Siegel center problem) and vector fields. In addition to analytic results, we give sufficient condition for the linearization to belong to some Classes of ultradifferenti…
Let $f : (\mathbb{C}^2, 0) \to (\mathbb{C}^2, 0)$ be a germ of holomorphic skew product with a superattracting fixed point at the origin. If it has a suitable weight, then we can construct a Böttcher coordinate which conjugates $f$ to the associated monomial map. This Böttcher coordinate is defined on an open set whose interior or boundary contains the origin.
In [M3], Milnor found Tricorn-like sets in the parameter space of real cubic polynomials. We give a rigorous definition of these Tricorn-like sets as suitable renormalization loci, and show that the dynamically natural straightening map from such a Tricorn-like set to the original Tricorn is discontinuous. We also prove some rigidity theorems for polynomial parabolic germs, which state that one can recover unicritical holomorphic and anti-holomorphic polynomials from their parabolic germs.
Let $f:(\mathbb{C}^n,0)\mapsto(\mathbb{C}^n,0)$ be a germ of an $n$-dimensional holomorphic map. Assume that the origin is an isolated fixed point of each iterate of $f$. Then $\{\mathcal{N}_q(f)\}_{q=1}^{\infty}$, the sequence of the maximal number of periodic orbits of period $q$ that can be born from the fixed point zero under a small perturbation of $f$, is well defined. According to Shub-Sullivan, Chow-Mallet-Paret-Yorke and G. Y. Zhang, the linear part of the holomorphic germ $f$ determines some natural restrictions on the sequence(cf. Theorem 1.1). Later, I. Gorbovickis proves that when…
We study analytic integrable deformations of the germ of a holomorphic foliation given by $df=0$ at the origin $0 \in \mathbb C^n, n \geq 3$. We consider the case where $f$ is a germ of an irreducible and reduced holomorphic function. Our central hypotheses is that, {\em outside of a dimension $\leq n-3$ analytic subset $Y\subset X$, the analytic hypersurface $X_f : (f=0)$ has only normal crossings singularities}. We then prove that, as germs, such deformations also exhibit a holomorphic first integral, depending analytically on the parameter of the deformation. This applies to the study of in…
The aim of this article is twofold: First we study holomorphic germs of parabolic diffeomorphisms of $(\mathbb{C}^2,0)$ that are reversed by a holomorphic reflection and posses an analytic first integral with non-degenerate critical point at the origin. We find a canonical formal normal form and provide a complete analytic classification (in formal generic cases) in terms of a collection of functional invariants. Their restriction to an irreductible component of the zero locus of the first integral reduces to the Birkhoff--Écalle--Voronin modulus of the 1-dimensional restricted parabolic germ.…
Given a holomorphic germ at the origin of C with a simple parabolic fixed point, the local dynamics is classically described by means of pairs of attracting and repelling Fatou coordinates and the corresponding pairs of horn maps, of crucial importance for Écalle-Voronin's classification result and the definition of the parabolic renormalization operator. We revisit Écalle's approach to the construction of Fatou coordinates, which relies on Borel-Laplace summation, and give an original and self-contained proof of their resurgent character.
We consider germs of holomorphic vector fields at a fixed point having a nilpotent linear part at that point, in dimension $n \geq 3$. Based on Belitskii's work, we know that such a vector field is formally conjugate to a (formal) normal form. We give a condition on that normal form which ensure that the normalizing transformation is holomorphic at the fixed point. We shall show that this sufficient condition is a nilpotent version of Bruno's condition (A). In dimension 2, no condition is required since, according to Str{ó}zyna- Zoladek, each such germ is holomorphically conjugate to a Takens …
We describe a canonical procedure for associating to any (germ of) holomorphic self-map f of C^n fixing the origin such that df_O is invertible and non-diagonalizable an n-dimensional complex manifold M, a holomorphic map p from M to C^n, a point e in M and a (germ of) holomorphic self-map F of M so that: p restricted to the complement of p^{-1}(O) is a biholomorphism between this complement and C^n minus the origin; p semiconjugates f and F; and e is a fixed point of F such that dF_e is diagonalizable. Furthermore, we use this construction to describe the local dynamics of such an f nearby th…
Let $f$ be a germ of biholomorphism of $\C^n$, fixing the origin. We show that if the germ commutes with a torus action, then we get information on the germs that can be conjugated to $f$, and furthermore on the existence of a holomorphic linearization or of a holomorphic normalization of $f$. We find out in a complete and computable manner what kind of structure a torus action must have in order to get a Poincaré-Dulac holomorphic normalization, studying the possible torsion phenomena. In particular, we link the eigenvalues of $df_O$ to the weight matrix of the action. The link and the struct…
We study germs of smooth vector fields in a neighborhood of a fixed point having an hyperbolic linear part at this point. It is well known that the "small divisors" are invisible either for the smooth linearization or normal form problem. We prove that this is completely different in the smooth Gevrey category. We prove that a germ of smooth $\al$-Gevrey vector field with an hyperbolic linear part admits a smooth $\be$-Gevrey transformation to a smooth $\be$-Gevrey normal form. The Gevrey order $\be$ depends on the rate of accumulation to $0$ of the small divisors. We show that a formally line…
In this survey we provide detailed proofs for the results by Hakim regarding the dynamics of germs of biholomorphisms tangent to the identity of order $k+1\ge 2$ and fixing the origin.
This article studies germs of holomorphic vector fields at the origin of C3 that are tangent to holomorphic foliations of codimension one. Two situations are considered. First, we assume hypotheses on the reduction of singularities of the vector field - for instance, that the final models belong to a family of vector fields whose linear parts have eigenvalues satisfying a condition of non-resonance - in order to conclude that the foliation is of complex hyperbolic type, that is, without saddle-nodes in its reduction of singularities. In the second part, we prove that a vector field that is tan…
The study of the dynamics of an holomorphic map near a fixed point is a central topic in complex dynamical systems. In this paper we will consider the corresponding random setting: given a probability measure $ν$ with compact support on the space of germs of holomorphic maps fixing the origin, we study the compositions $f_n\circ\cdots\circ f_1$, where each $f_i$ is chosen independently with probability $ν$. As in the deterministic case, the stability of the family of the random iterates is mostly determined by the linear part of the germs in the support of the measure. A particularly interesti…
In this paper we study the dynamics of germs of holomorphic diffeomorphisms of $(\mathbb{C}^{n},0)$ with a fixed point at the origin with exactly one neutral eigenvalue. We prove that the map on any local center manifold of $0$ is quasiconformally conjugate to a holomorphic map and use this to transport results from one complex dimension to higher dimensions.
A Mall bundle on a Hopf manifold H is a holomorphic vector bundle whose pullback to the universal cover of H is trivial. We define resonant and non-resonant Mall bundles, generalizing the notion of the resonance in ODE, and prove that a non-resonant Mall bundle always admits a flat holomorphic connection. We use this observation to prove a version of Poincare-Dulac linearization theorem, showing that any non-resonant invertible holomorphic contraction of a complex space is linear in appropriate holomorphic coordinates. We define the notion of resonance in Hopf manifolds, and show that all non-…
Let $X$ be a germ of holomorphic vector field at the origin of ${\bf C}^n$ and vanishing there. We assume that $X$ is a "nondegenerate" good perturbation of a singular completely integrable system. The latter is associated to a family of linear diagonal vector fields which is assumed to have nontrivial polynomial first integrals. We show that $X$ admits many invariant analytic subsets in a neighborhood of the origin. These are biholomorphic to the intersection of a polydisc with an analytic set of the form ``resonant monomials = constants". Such a biholomorphism conjugates the restriction of $…
