We classify semi-Riemannian submersions with connected totally geodesic fibres from a real pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a semi-Riemannian manifold under the assumption that the dimension of the fibres is less than or equal to three and the metrics induced on fibres are negative definite. Also, we obtain the classification of semi-Riemannian submersions with connected complex totally geodesic fibres from a complex pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a semi-Riemannian manifold under the assumption that the dimension of the fibres is less than or equal to two and the metric induced on fibres are negative definite. We prove that there are no semi-Riemannian submersions with connected quaternionic fibres from a quaternionic pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a Riemannian manifold.
We classify pseudo-Riemannian submersions with connected totally geodesic fibres from a real pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a pseudo-Riemannian manifold. Also, we obtain the classification of the pseudo-Riemannian submersions with (para-)complex connected totally geodesic fibres from a (para-)complex pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a pseudo-Riemannian manifold.
We study generic Riemannian submersions from nearly Kaehler manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We investigate conditions for the integrability of various distributions arising for generic Riemannian submersions and also obtain conditions for leaves to be totally geodesic foliations. We obtain conditions for a generic Riemannian submersion to be a totally geodesic map and also study generic Riemannian submersions with totally umbilical fibers. Finally, we derive conditions for generic Riemannian submersions to be harmonic map.
We classify the semi-Riemannian submersions from a pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a Riemannian manifold under the assumption that the fibres are connected and totally geodesic. Also we obtain the classification of the semi-Riemannian submersions from a complex pseudo-hyperbolic space onto a Riemannian manifold under the assumption that the fibres are complex, connected and totally geodesic submanifolds.
In the present paper, we investigate geometric properties of Clairaut anti-invariant submersions whose total space is a nearly Kaehler manifold. We obtain condition for Clairaut anti-invariant submersion to be a totally geodesic map and also study Clairaut anti-invariant submersions with totally umbilical fibers. In the last, we introduce illustrative example.
In this paper we show that a substantial Riemannian submersion of S(15) with 7- dimensional fibres is congruent to the standard Hopf fibration. As a consequence we prove a slightly weak form of of the Diameter Rigidity theorem for the Cayley plane which is considerably stronger than the very recent Radius Rigidity Theorem of Wilhelm.
We study harmonic almost contact structures in the context of contact metric manifolds, and an analysis is carried out when such a manifold fibres over an almost Hermitian manifold, as exemplified by the Boothby-Wang fibration. Two types of almost contact metric warped products are also studied, relating their harmonicity to that of the almost Hermitian structure on the base or fibre.
We introduce semi-invariant Riemannian submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We give examples, investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a Riemannian submersion and find necessary-sufficient conditions for total manifold to be locally product Riemannian manifold. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for a semi-invariant submersion to be totally geodesic. Moreover, we obtain a classification for semi-invariant submersions with totally umbilical fibers and show that such submersions put some restrictions on total m…
The main result of this paper gives a new construction of extremal Kähler metrics on the total space of certain holomorphic submersions, giving a vast generalisation and unification of results of Hong, Fine and others. The principal new ingredient is a novel geometric partial differential equation on such fibrations, which we call the optimal symplectic connection equation. We begin with a smooth fibration for which all fibres admit a constant scalar curvature Kähler metric. When the fibres admit automorphisms, such metrics are not unique in general, but rather are unique up to the action of t…
In 86, Ranjan questioned whether a submersion $π: G\to B$ from a compact simple Lie group with bi-invariant metric is a coset foliation or not, provided the submersion is Riemannian with totally geodesic fibers. Here we answer this question affirmatively, even when the submersion is defined only in an open subset of $G$ (assuming suitable hypothesis).
Akyol, M. A and Şahin, B. [Conformal semi-invariant submersions, Commun. Contemp. Math. 19, 1650011 (2017).] introduced the notion of conformal semi-invariant submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds. The present paper deal with the study of conformal generic submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds which extends semi-invariant submersions, generic Riemannian submersions and conformal semi-invariant submersions a natural way. We mention some examples of such maps and obtain characterizations and investigate some properties, including the integrability of distributions, the geometry of fo…
The aim of the present paper to define and study semi-slant $ξ^\perp-$Riemannian submersions from Sasakian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of anti-invariant $ξ^\perp-$Riemannian submersions, semi-invariant $ξ^\perp-$Riemannian submersions and slant Riemannian submersions. We obtain characterizations, investigate the geometry of foliations which arise from the definition of this new submersion. After we investigate the geometry of foliations, we obtain necessary and sufficient condition for base manifold to be a locally product manifold and proving new conditions to be t…
In this paper we introduce slant Riemannian submersions from cosymplectic manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We obtain some results on slant Riemannian submersions of a cosymplectic manifolds. We also give examples and inequalities between the scalar curvature and squared mean curvature of fibres of such slant submersions according to characteristic vector field is vertical or horizontal.
In this paper we obtain the structure equation of a contact-complex Riemannian submersion and give some applications of this equation in the study of almost cosymplectic manifolds with Kaehler fibres.
We introduce slant submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We give examples, investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a Riemannian submersion and check the harmonicity of such submersions. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for a slant submersion to be totally geodesic. Moreover, we obtain a decomposition theorem for the total manifold of such submersions.
We introduce bi-slant $ξ^{\perp}$-Riemannian submersions from Sasakian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of slant and semi-slant $ξ^{\perp}$-Riemannian submersion. We give an example and investigate the geometry foliations. After we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions related to totally geodesicness of submersion. Finally we give decomposition theorems for total manifold of such submersions.
We show that under certain conditions, a nontrivial Riemannian submersion from positively curved four manifolds does not exist. This gives a partial answer to a conjecture due to Fred Wilhelm. We also prove a rigidity theorem for Riemannian submersions with totally geodesic fibers from compact four-dimensional Einstein manifolds.
The present paper deals with the characterization of a new submersion named semi-invariant conformal $ζ^{\perp }$-Riemannian submersion from almost contact metric manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds which is the generalization of some known submersions on Riemannian manifolds. We give important and adequate conditions for such submersions to be totally geodesic and harmonic. Also, few examples are examined for such submersions endowed with horizontal Reeb vector field.
The main result in this paper is the generalisation of the fundamental equations of a Riemannian submersion presented in the 1966 article by Barrett O'Neill to the context of pseudo-Finsler submersions. In the meantime, we also explore some basic properties of the O'Neill fundamental tensors of the submersion and study Finsler submersions with totally geodesic fibers.
In this paper, we will first derive a DDVV-type optimal inequality for real skew-symmetric matrices, then we apply it to establish a Simons-type integral inequality for Riemannian submersions with totally geodesic fibres and Yang-Mills horizontal distributions. In this way, we show phenomenons of duality between Submanifold geometry and Riemannnian submersion, particularly between second fundamental form of a submanifold and integrability tensor of a Riemannian submersion.
We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from Sasakian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We survey main results of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions defined on Sasakian manifolds. We investigate necessary and sufficient condition for an anti-invariant Riemannian submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic. We give examples of anti-invariant submersions such that characteristic vector field ξ is vertical or horizontal.
We introduce the notions of h-conformal slant submersions and almost h-conformal slant submersions from almost quaternionic Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of Riemannian submersions, horizontally conformal submersions, slant submersions, h-slant submersions, almost h-slant submersion and conformal slant submersions. We investigate several properties of these including the integrability of distributions, the geometry of foliations and the conditions for such maps to be totally geodesic. Further we give some examples of such maps.
As a generalization of Riemannian submersions, horizontally conformal submersions, semi-invariant submersions, h-semi-invariant submersions, almost h-semi-invariant submersions, conformal semi-invariant submersions, we introduce h-conformal semi-invariant submersions and almost h-conformal semi-invariant submersions from almost quaternionic Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We study their properties: the geometry of foliations, the conditions for total manifolds to be locally product manifolds, the conditions for such maps to be totally geodesic, etc. Finally, we give some example…

We obtain characterizations and investigate some properties: the integrability of distributions, the geometry of foliations, and the harmonicity of such maps. We also find a condition for such maps to be totally geodesic and give some examples of such maps. Finally, we obtain some types of decomposition theorems.
We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from cosymplectic manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We survey main results of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions defined on cosymplectic manifolds. We investigate necessary and sufficient condition for an anti-invariant Riemannian submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic. We study anti-holomorphic semi-invariant submersions from Kählerian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We prove that all distributions which are involved in the definition of the submersion are integrable. We also prove that the O'Neill's tensor $\mathcal{T}$ vanishes on the invariant vertical distribution. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for totally geodesicness and harmonicity of this type submersions. Moreover, we investigate the several curvatures of the total manifold and fibers and give a characterization theorem.
We introduce conformal anti-invariant submersions from almost Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We give examples, investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a conformal submersion and find necessary and sufficient conditions for a conformal anti-invariant submersion to be totally geodesic. We also check the harmonicity of such submersions and show that the total space has certain product structures. Moreover, we obtain curvature relations between the base space and the total space, and find geometric implications of these relations.
As a generalization of anti-invariant $ξ^\perp-$Riemannian submersions, we introduce conformal anti-invariant $ξ^\perp-$submersions from almost contact metric manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We investigate the geometry of foliations which are arisen from the definition of a conformal submersion and find necessary and sufficient conditions for a conformal anti-invariant $ξ^\perp-$submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic, respectively. Moreover, we show that there are certain product structures on the total space of a conformal anti-invariant $ξ^\perp-$submersion.
This article presents the study of almost Hermitian submersion from an almost Yamabe soliton onto an almost Hermitian manifold. A non-trivial example is also mentioned in order to guarantee the existence of such solitons on the total space of almost Hermitian submersions. We mainly focus on Kaehler submersions from Kaehler manifolds which are special case of almost Hermitian submersions. Under certain conditions, we find out that the fibres and the base manifold of such submersions are almost Yamabe soliton. We give the characterizations for an almost Yamabe soliton of a Kaehler submersion to …
Maps between Riemannian manifolds which are submersions on a dense subset, are studied by means of the eigenvalues of the pull-back of the target metrics, the first fundamental form. Expressions for the derivatives of these eigenvalues yield characterizations of harmonicity, totally geodesic maps and biconformal changes of metric preserving harmonicity. A Schwarz lemma for pseudo harmonic morphisms is proved, using the dilatation of the eigenvalues and, in dimension five, a Bochner technique method, involving the Laplacian of the difference of the eigenvalues, gives conditions forcing pseudo h…
We give a general construction of extremal Kaehler metrics on the total space of certain holomorphic submersions, extending results of Dervan-Sektnan, Fine, and Hong. We consider submersions whose fibres admit a degeneration to Kaehler manifolds with constant scalar curvature, in a way that is compatible with the fibration structure. Thus we allow fibres that are K-semistable, rather than K-polystable; this is crucial to moduli theory. On these fibrations we phrase a partial differential equation whose solutions, called optimal symplectic connections, represent a canonical choice of a relative…
For a Riemannian submersion from a simple compact Lie group with a bi-invariant metric, we prove the action of its holonomy group on the fibers is transitive. As a step towards classifying Riemannian submersions with totally geodesic fibers, we consider the parameterized surface induced by lifting a base geodesic to points along a geodesic in a fiber. Such a surface is "doubly ruled" (it is ruled by horizontal geodesics and also by vertical geodesics). Its characterizing properties allow us to define "doubly ruled parameterized surfaces" in any Riemannian manifold, independent of Riemannian su…
We study bifurcation for the constant scalar curvature equation along a one-parameter family of Riemannian metrics on the total space of a harmonic Riemannian submersion. We provide an existence theorem for bifurcation points and a criterion to see that the conformal factors corresponding to the bifurcated metrics must be indeed constant along the fibers. In the case of the canonical variation of a Riemannian submersion with totally geodesic fibers, we characterize discreteness of the set of all degeneracy points along the family and give a sufficient condition to guarantee that bifurcation ne…
As a generalization of slant submersions (Sahin, 2011), semi-slant submersions (Park and Prasad), and slant Riemannian maps (Sahin), we define the notion of semi-slant Riemannian maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds. We study the integrability of distributions, the geometry of fibers, the harmonicity of such maps, etc. We also find a condition for such maps to be totally geodesic and investigate some decomposition theorems. Moreover, we give examples.

We show that a simply connected Riemannian homogeneous space M which admits a totally geodesic hypersurface F is isometric to either (a) the Riemannian product of a space of constant curvature and a homogeneous space, or (b) the warped product of the Euclidean space and a homogeneous space, or (c) the twisted product of the line and a homogeneous space (with the warping/twisting function given explicitly). In the first case, F is also a Riemannian product; in the last two cases, it is a leaf of a totally geodesic homogeneous fibration. Case (c) can alternatively be characterised by the fact th…
As a generalization of slant Riemannian maps (Sahin), semi-slant Riemannian maps (Park), almost h-slant submersions (Park 2012), and almost h-semi-slant submersions (Park 2011), we introduce the notion of almost h-semi-slant Riemannian maps from almost quaternionic Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds. We investigate the integrability of distributions, the harmonicity of such maps, the geometry of fibers, etc. We also deal with the condition for such maps to be totally geodesic and study some decomposition theorems. Moreover, we give some examples.
We study the Kasparov product on (possibly non-compact and incomplete) Riemannian manifolds. Specifically, we show on a submersion of Riemannian manifolds that the tensor sum of a regular vertically elliptic operator on the total space and an elliptic operator on the base space represents the Kasparov product of the corresponding classes in KK-theory. This construction works in general for symmetric operators (i.e. without assuming self-adjointness), and extends known results for submersions with compact fibres. The assumption of regularity for the vertically elliptic operator is not always sa…
We show that there is a correspondence between totally umbilic null hypersurfaces in generalized Robertson-Walker spaces and twisted decompositions of the fibre. This allows us to prove that nullcones are the unique totally umbilic null hypersurfaces in the closed Friedmann Cosmological model. We also apply this kind of ideas to static spaces, in particular to Reissner-Nordström and Schwarzschild exterior spacetimes.
As a generalization of holomorphic submersions, anti-invariant submersions and slant submersions, we introduce slant Riemannian maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to Riemannian manifolds. We give examples, obtain the existence conditions of slant Riemannian maps and investigate harmonicity of such maps. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for slant Riemannian maps to be totally geodesic and give a decomposition theorem for the total manifold.
In the present paper we show that the geodesic flows of a sub-Riemannian metric and that of a Riemannian extension commute if and only if the extended metric is parallel with respect to a certain connection. This helps us to describe the geodesic flow of sub-Riemannian metrics on totally geodesic Riemannian submersions. As a consequence we can characterize sub-Riemannian geodesics as the horizontal lifts of projections of Riemannian geodesics.
We show that a natural class of twistorial maps gives a pattern for apparently different geometric maps, such as, $(1,1)$-geodesic immersions from $(1,2)$-symplectic almost Hermitian manifolds and pseudo horizontally conformal submersions with totally geodesic fibres for which the associated almost CR-structure is integrable. Along the way, we construct for each constant curvature Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$, of dimension $m$, a family of twistor spaces $\bigl\{Z_r(M)\bigr\}_{1\leq r<\tfrac12m}$ such that $Z_r(M)$ parametrizes naturally the set of pairs $(P,J)$, where $P$ is a totally geodesic…
Many bundle gerbes constructed in practice are either infinite-dimensional, or finite-dimensional but built using submersions that are far from being fibre bundles. Murray and Stevenson proved that gerbes on simply-connected manifolds, built from finite-dimensional fibre bundles with connected fibres, always have a torsion $DD$-class. In this note I prove an analogous result for a wide class of gerbes built from principal bundles, relaxing the requirements on the fundamental group of the base and the connected components of the fibre, allowing both to be nontrivial. This has consequences for p…
We prove that a foliation $(M, F)$ of codimension $q$ on a $n$-dimen\-sio\-nal pseudo-Riemannian manifold is pseudo-Riemannian if and only if any geodesic that is orthogonal at one point to a leaf is orthogonal to every leaf it intersects. We show that on the graph $G = G(F)$ of a pseudo-Riemannian foliation there exists a unique pseudo-Riemannian metric such that canonical projections are pse\-u\-do-Rieman\-ni\-an submersions and the fibres of different projections are orthogonal at common points. Relatively this metric the induced foliation $(G,\mathbb{F})$ on the graph is pseudo-Riemannian …
