We obtain analytic solutions for the one-dimensional Dirac equation with the Morse potential as an infinite series of square integrable functions. These solutions are for all energies, the discrete as well as the continuous. The elements of the spinor basis are written in terms of the confluent hypergeometric functions. They are chosen such that the matrix representation of the Dirac-Morse operator for continuous spectrum (i.e., for scattering energies larger than the rest mass) is tridiagonal. Consequently, the wave equation results in a three-term recursion relation for the expansion coefficients of the wavefunction. The solution of this recursion relation is obtained in terms of the continuous dual Hahn orthogonal polynomials. On the other hand, for the discrete spectrum (i.e., for bound states with energies less than the rest mass) the spinor wave functions result in a diagonal matrix representation for the Dirac-Morse Hamiltonian.
Dirac structures and Morse families are used to obtain a geometric formalism that unifies most of the scenarios in mechanics (constrained calculus, nonholonomic systems, optimal control theory, higher-order mechanics, etc.), as the examples in the paper show. This approach generalizes the previous results on Dirac structures associated with Lagrangian submanifolds. An integrability algorithm in the sense of Mendela, Marmo and Tulczyjew is described for the generalized Dirac dynamical systems under study to determine the set where the implicit differential equations have solutions.
We provide a generalization of the notion of Dirac system by using Morse families to intrinsically embrace the dynamics associated with different physical systems such as constrained variational calculus, optimal control, Lagrangian mechanics, etc., from both the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian viewpoint. Besides, we introduce a geometric construction of Port-Dirac systems and use it to describe the interconnection of Dirac systems. Special emphasis on theoretical and applied examples is given throughout the paper to show the applicability of the proposed framework.
New exact analytical bound-state solutions of the radial Dirac equation in 3+1 dimensions for two sets of couplings and radial potential functions are obtained via mapping onto the nonrelativistic bound-state solutions of the one-dimensional generalized Morse potential. The eigenfunctions are expressed in terms of generalized Laguerre polynomials, and the eigenenergies are expressed in terms of solutions of equations that can be transformed into polynomial equations. Several analytical results found in the literature, including the Dirac oscillator, are obtained as particular cases of this uni…
The energy spectra and the corresponding two- component spinor wavefunctions of the Dirac equation for the Rosen-Morse potential with spin and pseudospin symmetry are obtained. The $s-$wave ($κ= 0$ state) solutions for this problem are obtained by using the basic concept of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics approach and function analysis (standard approach) in the calculations. Under the spin symmetry and pseudospin symmetry, the energy equation and the corresponding two-component spinor wavefunctions for this potential and other special types of this potential are obtained. Extension of th…
By applying the Pekeris-type approximation to deal with the (pseudo or) centrifugal term, the spin and pseudospin symmetry solutions of the Dirac equation for the Rosen-Morse potential including a Coulomb-like tensor potential with arbitrary spin-orbit coupling quantum number $κ$ are obtained by standard method. It has been shown from the numerical results that the degeneracies between spin and pseudospin state doublets are removed by the tensor interaction. Special case of this potential, that is, the spin and pseudospin solutions of the Dirac equation with the modified Pöschl-Teller potentia…
In this work we explore a generalization of the Dirac and Klein-Gordon (KG) oscillators, provided with a deformed linear momentum inspired in nonextensive statistics, that gives place to the Morse potential in relativistic contexts by first principles. In the (1+1)-dimensional case the relativistic oscillators are mapped into the quantum Morse potential. Using the Pekeris approximation, in the (3+1)-dimensional case we study the thermodynamics of the S-waves states (l=0) of the H2, LiH, HCl and CO molecules (in the non-relativistic limit) and of a relativistic electron, where Schottky anomalie…
SO(2,1) is the symmetry algebra for a class of three-parameter problems that includes the oscillator, Coulomb and Morse potentials as well as other problems at zero energy. All of the potentials in this class can be mapped into the oscillator potential by point canonical transformations. We call this class the "oscillator class". A nontrivial graded extension of SO(2,1) is defined and its realization by two-dimensional matrices of differential operators acting in spinor space is given. It turns out that this graded algebra is the supersymmetry algebra for a class of relativistic potentials tha…
The Dirac equation on the toroidal surface is studied. The non-constant Fermi velocity functions are used in the Dirac Hamiltonian to get trigonometric Scarf and Rosen-Morse potentials using the method given in [19], then, the exact solutions are written. On the other hand, consecutive mappings are used to get a trigonometric Scarf I-like potential model and the solutions are obtained in the second part of the paper.
We suggest a new deformed Schioberg-type potential for diatomic molecules. We show that it is equivalent to Tietz-Hua oscillator potential. We discuss how to relate our deformed Schiöberg potential to Morse, to Deng-Fan , to the improved Manning-Rosen, and to the deformed modified Rosen-Morse potential models. We transform our potential into a proper form and use the supersymmetric quantization to find a closed form analytical solution for the ro-vibrational energy levels that are highly accurate over a wide range of vibrational and rotational quantum numbers. We discuss our results using 4-di…
Dirac equation is solved for some exponential potentials, hypergeometric-type potential, generalized Morse potential and Poschl-Teller potential with any spin-orbit quantum number $κ$ in the case of spin and pseudospin symmetry, respectively. We have approximated for non s-waves the centrifugal term by an exponential form. The energy eigenvalue equations, and the corresponding wave functions are obtained by using the generalization of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method.
We present a new approach to study (1+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in the background of an effective mass $M$ by exploiting the possibility of a position-dependent fermi velocity $v_f$. We explore the resulting structure of the coupled equations and arrive at an interesting constraint of $M$ turning out to be the inverse square of $v_f$. We address several solutions of the effective potential that include the free particle, shifted harmonic oscillator, Morse potential, and CPRS potential.
In this work, we study the exact solution of Dirac equation in the hyper-spherical coordinate under influence of separable q-Deformed quantum potentials. The q-deformed hyperbolic Rosen-Morse potential is perturbed by q-deformed non-central trigonometric Scarf potentials, where whole of them can be solved by using Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). This work is limited to spin symmetry case. The relativistic energy equation and orbital quantum number equation lD-1 have been obtained using Asymptotic Iteration Method. The upper radial wave function equations and angular wave function equations …
We establish a limiting absorption principle for some long range perturbations of the Dirac systems at threshold energies. We cover multi-center interactions with small coupling constants. The analysis is reduced to study a family of non-self-adjoint operators. The technique is based on a positive commutator theory for non self-adjoint operators, which we develop in appendix. We also discuss some applications to the dispersive Helmholzt model in the quantum regime.
We investigate $L^1\to L^\infty$ dispersive estimates for the three dimensional Dirac equation with a potential. We also classify the structure of obstructions at the thresholds of the essential spectrum as being composed of a two dimensional space of resonances and finitely many eigenfunctions. We show that, as in the case of the Schrödinger evolution, the presence of a threshold obstruction generically leads to a loss of the natural $t^{-\frac32}$ decay rate. In this case we show that the solution operator is composed of a finite rank operator that decays at the rate $t^{-\frac12}$ plus a te…
We study the massive two dimensional Dirac operator with an electric potential. In particular, we show that the $t^{-1}$ decay rate holds in the $L^1\to L^\infty$ setting if the threshold energies are regular. We also show these bounds hold in the presence of s-wave resonances at the threshold. We further show that, if the threshold energies are regular that a faster decay rate of $t^{-1}(\log t)^{-2}$ is attained for large $t$, at the cost of logarithmic spatial weights. The free Dirac equation does not satisfy this bound due to the s-wave resonances at the threshold energies.
It is easy to check that both algebraic equation Det (hat p - m) =0 and Det (hat p + m) =0 for u- and v- 4-spinors have solutions with p_0= pm E_p = pm sqrt bf p^2 +m^2. The same is true for higher-spin equations. Meanwhile, every book considers the equality p_0=E_p for both u- and v- spinors of the (1/2,0)+(0,1/2)) representation only, thus applying the Dirac-Feynman-Stueckelberg procedure for elimination of the negative-energy solutions. The recent Ziino works (and, independently, the articles of several others) show that the Fock space can be doubled. We re-consider this possibility on the …
We investigate physical models which possess simultaneous ordinary and type A N-fold supersymmetries, which we call type A (N,1)-fold supersymmetry. Inequivalent type A (N,1)-fold supersymmetric models with real-valued potentials are completely classified. Among them, we find that a trigonometric Rosen-Morse type and its elliptic version are of physical interest. We investigate various aspects of these models, namely, dynamical breaking and interrelation between ordinary and N-fold supersymmetries, shape invariance, quasi-solvability, and an associated algebra which is composed of one bosonic …
Quantum dynamical lower bounds for continuous and discrete one-dimensional Dirac operators are established in terms of transfer matrices. Then such results are applied to various models, including the Bernoulli-Dirac one and, in contrast to the discrete case, critical energies are also found for the continuous Dirac case with positive mass.
In this comment, we show that the solutions of the-wave Dirac equation for deformed generalized Pöschl-Teller potential obtained by Wei et al are valid only for $q\geq1$ and $\frac{1}{2α}\ln{q}<r<\infty$. When $0<q<1$, we prove that the energy eigenvalues for the bound states are given by the solution of a transcendental equation involving the hypergeometric function. To test our results, the Morse potential is considered as limiting case.
The most general combination of couplings of fermions with external potentials in 1+1 dimensions, must include vector, scalar and pseudoscalar potentials. We consider such a mixing of potentials in a PT-symmetric time-independent Dirac equation. The Dirac equation is mapped into an effective PT-symmetric Schrödinger equation. Despite the non-hermiticity of the effective potential, we find real energies for the fermion.
In this work, we study the scattering problem of the general nonlinear finitely many Dirac delta potentials with complex coupling constants (or opacities in the context of optics) using the Green's function method and then find the bound state energies and the wave functions for the particular form of the nonlinearity in the case of positive real coupling constants.
In this work we study the Dirac equation with vector and scalar potentials in the spacetime generated by a cosmic string. Using an approximation for the centrifugal term, a solution for the radial differential equation is obtained. We consider the scattering states under the Hulthén potential and obtain the phase shifts. From the poles of the scattering $S$-matrix the states energies are determined as well.
