The 1/N expansion in quantum field theory is formulated within an algebraic framework. For a scalar field taking values in the $N$ by $N$ hermitian matrices, we rigorously construct the gauge invariant interacting quantum field operators in the sense of power series in 1/N and the `t Hooft coupling parameter as members of an abstract *-algebra. The key advantages of our algebraic formulation over the usual formulation of the 1/N expansion in terms of Green's functions are (i) that it is completely local so that infra-red divergencies in massless theories are avoided on the algebraic level and (ii) that it admits a generalization to quantum field theories on general Lorentzian curved spacetimes. We expect that our constructions are also applicable in models possessing local gauge invariance such as Yang-Mills theories.
The 1/N expansion of the renormalization group flow is constructed on the algebraic level via a family of *-isomorphisms between the algebras of interacting field observables corresponding to different scales. We also consider $k$-parameter deformations of the interacting field algebras that arise from reducing the symmetry group of the model to a diagonal subgroup with $k$ factors. These parameters smoothly interpolate between situations of different symmetry.
Although the Christoffel-Darboux representation (CDR) plays an important role within the theory of orthogonal polynomials, and many important bosonic and fermionic multidimensional Schrodinger equation systems can be transformed into a moment equation representation (MER), the union of the two into an effective, algebraic, eigenenergy bounding method has been overlooked. This particular fusion of the two representations, suitable for bounding bosonic or fermionic systems, defines the Orthonormal Polynomial Projection Quantization - Bounding Method (OPPQ-BM), as developed here. We use it to ana…
We construct Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants from two dimensional point transformations for two oscillators that are coupled to each other in space in a PT-symmetrical and time-dependent fashion. The non-Hermitian Hamiltonian of the model is conveniently expressed in terms of generators of the symplectic $sp(4)$ Lie algebra. This allows for an alternative systematic approach to find Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants leading to a set of coupled differential equations that we solve by using time-ordered exponentials. We also demonstrate that point transformations may be utilized to directly construct time…
Topological expansion of beta-ensemble model and quantum algebraic geometry in the sectorwise approach
我们解决循环方程的$β$ -系综模型类似的解决方案发现的厄米矩阵$β=1$。对于β=1 $, the solution was expressed using the algebraic spectral curve of equation $ y ^2 =U(x)$. For arbitrary $ β $, the spectral curve converts into a Schrödinger equation $((\hbar \partial)^2-U(x))N(x)=0 $ with $ \hbar \propto(\sqrt β-1/ \sqrt β)/N $. This paper is similar to the sister paper~I, in particular, all the main ingredients specific for the algebraic solution of the problem remain the same, but here we present the second approach to finding a solution of loop equations using sectorwise definition of resolvents. Being technically more involve…
For certain quantum field theories, the Kreimer-Connes Hopf-algebraic approach to renormalization reduces the Dyson-Schwinger equations to a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations for the expansion coefficients of the renormalized Green's function. We apply resurgent asymptotic analysis to find the trans-series solutions which provide the non-perturbative completion of these formal Dyson-Schwinger expansions. We illustrate the general approach with the concrete example of four dimensional massless Yukawa theory, connecting with the exact functional solution found by Broadhurst an…
We treat here interaction round the face (IRF) solvable lattice models. We study the algebraic structures underlining such models. For the three block case, we show that the Yang Baxter equation is obeyed, if and only if, the Birman--Murakami--Wenzl (BMW) algebra is obeyed. We prove this by an algebraic expansion of the Yang Baxter equation (YBE). For four blocks IRF models, we show that the BMW algebra is also obeyed, apart from the skein relation, which is different. This indicates that the BMW algebra is a sub--algebra for all models with three or more blocks. We find additional relations f…
We extend the $C^*$-algebraic approach to interacting quantum field theory, proposed recently by Detlev Buchholz and one of us (KF) to Fermi fields. The crucial feature of our approach is the use of auxiliary Grassmann variables in a functorial way.
Using geometric approach we formulate quantum theory in terms of Jordan algebras. We analyze the notion of (quasi)particle (=elementary excitation of translation-invariant stationary state) and the scattering of (quasi)particles in this framework.
We present a construction of non-Gaussian Borel measures on the space of continuous functions defined on the space of all balls in Euclidean space of arbitrary dimension. These measures induce nets of operator algebras satisfying the Haag-Kastler axioms of algebraic quantum field theory and may be interpreted as (nonlinear) continuous transformations of the free scalar massive Euclidean quantum field.
We prove that each member of the non-commutative nonlinear Schrodinger and modified Korteweg--de Vries hierarchy is a Fredholm Grassmannian flow, and for the given linear dispersion relation and corresponding equivalencing group of Fredholm transformations, is unique in the class of odd-polynomial partial differential fields. Thus each member is linearisable and integrable in the sense that time-evolving solutions can be generated by solving a linear Fredholm Marchenko equation, with the scattering data solving the corresponding linear dispersion equation. At each order, each member matches th…
