We construct a new analytic regularization of the Petersson norm identity for Eisenstein series on $\mathrm{GL}_2$ over a number field $F$, and derive from it an explicit symmetric spectral reciprocity formula for twisted fourth moments of $\mathrm{GL}_2$ $L$-functions, reflecting the intrinsic rank decomposition $4=2+2$.
Independently, we identify a square-level phenomenon arising from amplification, whereby the dual spectral family acquires square-level conductors. This additional arithmetic rigidity permits a refined analysis within the relative trace formula and leads to refined hybrid subconvexity bounds for twisted $L$-functions. As a consequence, we obtain new uniform subconvexity bounds for $\mathrm{GL}_2/F$; in particular, \begin{align*} L(1/2,π)\ll C(π)^{\frac14-\frac{1}{120}+\varepsilon} \end{align*} for every unitary cuspidal representation $π$ of $\mathrm{GL}_2/F$. We also obtain refined bounds for certain Artin $L$-functions and applications to class group arithmetic.
A non-symmetric reciprocity formula is established that expresses the fourth moment of automorphic L-functions of level q and primitive central character twisted by the l-th Hecke eigenvalue as a twisted mixed moment of automorphic L-functions of level l and trivial central character. As an application, uniform subconvexity bounds for L-functions in the level and the eigenvalue aspect are derived.
In this paper, over an arbitrary number field, we prove subconvexity bounds for self-dual $\mathrm{GL}_3$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect and for self-dual $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ $L$-functions in the $\mathrm{GL}_2$ Archimedean aspect.
Let $π$ be a Hecke-Maass cusp form for $\mathrm{SL(3, \mathbb{Z})}$ and $f$ be a holomorphic cusp form for $\mathrm{SL(2,\mathbb{Z})}$ of weight $k$ or a Hecke-Maass cusp form corresponding to the Laplacian eigenvalue $1/4+k^2$, $k\geq 1$, for $\mathrm{SL(2,\mathbb{Z})}$. In this paper, we prove the following subconvexity bound \begin{align*} L\left({1}/{2},\ π\times f\right) \ll_{π,\,ε} k^{\frac{3}{2}-\frac{1}{51}+ε}. \end{align*}
We prove a new (conditional) result towards the subconvexity problem for certain automorphic $L$-functions for $\mathrm{GL}_2 \times \mathrm{GL}_3$. This follows from the computation of new $\mathrm{SL}_2$-period integrals associated with newforms $f$ and $g$ of even weight and odd squarefree level. The same computations also lead to a central value formula for degree $6$ complex $L$-series of the form $L(f \otimes \mathrm{Ad}(g), s)$, extending previous work in arXiv:1804.02352.
In this paper, we prove strong subconvexity bounds for self-dual $\mathrm{GL}(3)$ $L$-functions in the $t$-aspect and for $\mathrm{GL}(3)\times\mathrm{GL}(2)$ $L$-functions in the $\mathrm{GL}(2)$-spectral aspect. The bounds are strong in the sense that they are the natural limit of the moment method pioneered by Xiaoqing Li, modulo current knowledge on estimate for the second moment of $\rm GL(3)$ $L$-functions on the critical line.
We make the subconvex exponent for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ cuspidal representation in the work of Michel \& Venkatesh explicit. The result depends on an effective dependence on the `fixed' $\mathrm{GL}_2$ representation in our former work on the subconvex bounds for twists by Hecke characters, which in turn depends on the $\mathrm{L}^4$-norm of the test function.
We generalize our previous method on subconvexity problem for $\mathrm{GL}_2 \times \mathrm{GL}_1$ with cuspidal representations to Eisenstein series, and deduce a Burgess-like subconvex bound for Hecke characters, i.e., the bound $|L(1/2,χ)| \ll_{\mathbf{F},ε} \mathbf{C}(χ)^{1/4-(1-2θ)/16+ε}$ for varying Hecke characters $χ$ over a number field $\mathbf{F}$ with analytic conductor $\mathbf{C}(χ)$. As a main tool, we apply the extended theory of regularized integral due to Zagier developed in a previous paper to obtain the relevant triple product formulas of Eisenstein series.
Let $q \in \mathbb{Z} [i]$ be prime and $χ$ be the primitive quadratic Hecke character modulo $q$. Let $π$ be a self-dual Hecke automorphic cusp form for $\mathrm{SL}_3 (\mathbb{Z} [i] )$ and $f$ be a Hecke cusp form for $Γ_0 (q) \subset \mathrm{SL}_2 (\mathbb{Z} [i])$. Consider the twisted $L$-functions $ L (s, π\otimes f \otimes χ) $ and $L (s, π\otimes χ)$ on $\mathrm{GL}_3 \times \mathrm{GL}_2$ and $\mathrm{GL}_3$. We prove the subconvexity bounds \begin{equation*} L \big(\tfrac 1 2, π\otimes f \otimes χ\big) \ll_{\, \varepsilon, π, f } \mathrm{N} (q)^{5/4 + \varepsilon}, L \big(\tfrac 1 2…
Let $P$ be a prime and $k$ be an even integer. Let $f$ be a full level holomorphic cusp form of weight $k$ and $ρ$ be a primitive level $P$ holomorphic cusp form with arbitrary nebentypus and fixed weight $κ$. We prove a hybrid subconvexity bound for $L\left(\frac{1}{2},\mathrm{Sym}^2 f\otimes ρ\right)$ when $P^{\frac{1}{4}+η}<k<P^{\frac{21}{17}-η}$ for any $0<η<\frac{67}{136}$. This extends the range of $P$ and $k$ achieved by Holowinsky, Munshi and Qi. The result is established using a new variant of the delta method.
Blomer and Maga recently proved that, if $F$ is an $L^2$-normalized Hecke Maass cusp form for $\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb Z)$, and $Ω$ is a compact subset of $\mathrm{PGL}_n(\mathbb R)/\mathrm{PO}_n(\mathbb R)$, then we have $\|F|_Ω\|_\infty\ll_Ωλ_F^{n(n-1)/8-δ_n}$ for some $δ_n>0$, where $λ_F$ is the Laplacian eigenvalue of $F$. In the present paper, we prove an explicit version of their result.
A reciprocity formula is established that expresses the fourth moment of automorphic L-functions of level q twisted by the ell-th Hecke eigenvalue as the fourth moment of automorphic L-functions of level ell twisted by the q-th Hecke eigenvalue. Direct corollaries include subconvexity bounds for L-functions in the level aspect and a short proof of an upper bound for the fifth moment of automorphic L-functions.
Let $F$ be a number field and $π$ an irreducible cuspidal representation of $\mathrm{GL}_{2}(F)\backslash\mathrm{GL}_{2}(\mathbf{A})$ with unitary central character. Then the bound $$L(1/2,π\otimesχ)\ll_{F,π,χ_{\infty},\varepsilon} \mathcal{N}(\frak{q})^{3/8+θ/4+\varepsilon}$$ holds for any Hecke character $χ$ of conductor $\frak{q}$, where $θ$ is any constant towards the Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture ($θ=7/64$ is admissible). The proof is based on a spectral decomposition of shifted convolution sums.
Let $f$ be a holomorphic modular form of prime level $p$ and trivial nebentypus. We show that there exists a computable $δ>0$, such that $$ L\left(\tfrac{1}{2},\mathrm{Sym}^2 f\right)\ll p^{\tfrac{1}{2}-δ}, $$ with the implied constant depending only on $δ$ and the weight of $f$.
We improve upon the local bound in the depth aspect for sup-norms of newforms on $D^\times$ where $D$ is an indefinite quaternion division algebra over $\mathbb{Q}$. Our sup-norm bound implies a depth-aspect subconvexity bound for $L(1/2, f \times θ_χ)$, where $f$ is a (varying) newform on $D^\times$ of level $p^n$, and $θ_χ$ is an (essentially fixed) automorphic form on $\mathrm{GL}_2$ obtained as the theta lift of a Hecke character $χ$ on a quadratic field. For the proof, we augment the amplification method with a novel filtration argument and a recent counting result proved by the second-na…
Let $g$ be a primitive holomorphic or Maass newform for $Γ_0(D)$. In this paper, by studying the Bessel integrals associated to $g$, we prove an asymptotic Bessel $δ$-identity associated to $g$. Among other applications, we prove the following hybrid subconvexity bound $$ L\left(1/2+it,g\otimes χ\right)\ll_{g,\varepsilon} (q(1+|t|))^{\varepsilon}q^{3/8}(1+|t|)^{1/3} $$ for any $\varepsilon>0$, where $χ\bmod q$ is a primitive Dirichlet character with $(q, D)=1$. This improves the previous known result.
Let $\mathbf{F}$ be a number field and $\mathfrak{q},\mathfrak{l}$ two coprime integral ideals with $\mathfrak{q}$ squarefree and $π_1,π_2$ two fixed unitary automorphic representations of $\mathrm{PGL}_2(\mathbb{A}_{\mathbf{F}})$ unramified at all finite places. In this paper, we use regularized integrals to obtain a formula that links the first moment of $L(π\otimesπ_1\otimesπ_2,\tfrac{1}{2})$ twisted by the Hecke eigenvalues $λ_π(\mathfrak{l})$, where $π$ runs through unitary automorphic representations of $\mathrm{PGL}_2(\mathbb{A}_{\mathbf{F}})$ with conductor dividing $\mathfrak{q}$, wit…
Motohashi established an explicit identity between the fourth moment of the Riemann zeta function weighted by some test function and a spectral cubic moment of automorphic L-functions. By an entirely different method, we prove a generalization of this formula to a fourth moment of Dirichlet L-functions modulo q weighted by a non-archimedean test function. This establishes a new reciprocity formula. As an application, we obtain sharp upper bounds for the fourth moment twisted by the square of a Dirichlet polynomial of length q^{1/4}. An auxiliary result of independent interest is a sharp upper …
Given $\mathbf{F}$ a number field with ring of integers $\mathcal{O}_{\mathbf{F}}$ and $\mathfrak{p},\mathfrak{q}$ two squarefree and coprime ideals of $\mathcal{O}_{\mathbf{F}}$, we prove a reciprocity relation for the first moment of the triple product $L$-functions $L(π\otimesπ_1\otimesπ_2,\frac{1}{2})$ twisted by $λ_π(\mathfrak{p})$, where $π_1$ and $π_2$ are a fixed unitary automorphic representation of $\mathrm{PGL}_2(\mathbb{A}_{\mathbf{F}})$ with $π_1$ cuspidal and $π$ runs through unitary automorphic representations of conductor dividing $\mathfrak{q}$. The method uses adelic integral…
We complement and offer a new perspective of the proof of a Motohashi-type formula relating the fourth moment of $L$-functions for $\mathrm{GL}_1$ with the third moment of $L$-functions for $\mathrm{GL}_2$ over number fields, studied earlier by Michel-Venkatesh and Nelson. Our main tool is a new type of pre-trace formula with test functions on $\mathrm{M}_2(\mathbb{A})$ instead of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{A})$, on whose spectral side the matrix coefficients are replaced by the standard Godement-Jacquet zeta integrals. This is also a generalization of Bruggeman-Motohashi's other proof of Motohash…
