We prove that the order of vanishing of a natural twist of the $P$-adic Carlitz zeta values at the positive "even" integers is always $1$. We also obtain the same result for $P$-adic Pellarin $L$-series, and for almost all $P$-adic Dirichlet-Goss $L$-series. To do so, we demonstrate a $P$-adic version of a reduced variant of the class formula for Anderson $t$-modules proven by Anglès, Ngo Dac and Tavares-Ribeiro in 2020.
In this short note, we give a proof of the Riemann hypothesis for Goss $v$-adic zeta function $ζ_{v}(s)$, when $v$ is a prime of $\mathbb{F}_{q}[t]$ of degree one.
We investigate hyperderivatives of Drinfeld modular forms and determine formulas for these derivatives in terms of Goss polynomials for the kernel of the Carlitz exponential. As a consequence we prove that v-adic modular forms in the sense of Serre, as defined by Goss and Vincent, are preserved under hyperdifferentiation. Moreover, upon multiplication by a Carlitz factorial, hyperdifferentiation preserves v-integrality.
The zeroes of Goss polynomials $G_{k, Λ}(X)$ for $Λ= A \defeq \mathbb{F}_{q}[T]$ and similar lattices $Λ$ are studied. Generically, the zero distribution follows a simple pattern governed by the $q$-adic expansion of $k-1$. However, if $q=p^{f}$ with $f \geq 2$ is a proper power of the prime $p$, irregularities of the $q$-adic sum-of-digits function may lead to deviations from this pattern, to irregular zeroes, and an abundance of trivial zeroes of $G_{k, Λ}$ compared to the generic formula. These phenomena are related to properties of the Sheats compositions of natural numbers $n$ divisible b…
We investigate special values of Goss L-functions for Dirichlet characters at s=1 over rings of class number one and prove results on their transcendence and algebraic independence.
We consider Bernoulli distributions and their regularizations, which are measures on the $p$-adic integers $\mathbb{Z}_p$. It is well known that their Mellin transform can be used to define $p$-adic $L$-functions. We show that for $p>2$ one of the regularized Bernoulli distributions is particularly simple and equal to a measure on $\mathbb{Z}_p$ that takes the values $\pm \frac{1}{2}$ on clopen balls. We apply this to $p$-adic $L$-functions for Dirichlet characters of $p$-power conductor and obtain Dirichlet series expansions similar to the complex case. Such expansions were studied by D. Delb…
We study $p$-adic $L$-functions $L_p(s,χ)$ for Dirichlet characters $χ$. We show that $L_p(s,χ)$ has a Dirichlet series expansion for each regularization parameter $c$ that is prime to $p$ and the conductor of $χ$. The expansion is proved by transforming a known formula for $p$-adic $L$-functions and by controlling the limiting behavior. A finite number of Euler factors can be factored off in a natural manner from the $p$-adic Dirichlet series. We also provide an alternative proof of the expansion using $p$-adic measures and give an explicit formula for the values of the regularized Bernoulli …
Hoffstein and Hulse recently introduced the notion of shifted convolution Dirichlet series for pairs of modular forms $f_1$ and $f_2$. The second two authors investigated certain special values of symmetrized sums of such functions, numbers which are generally expected to be mysterious transcendental numbers. They proved that the generating functions of these values in $h$-aspect are linear combinations of mixed mock modular forms and quasimodular forms. Here we examine the special cases when $f_1=f_2$ where, in addition, there is a prime $p$ for which $p^2$ divides the level. We prove that th…
We introduce certain special polynomials in an arbitrary number of indeterminates over a finite field. These polynomials generalize the special polynomials associated to the Goss zeta function and Goss-Dirichlet $L$-functions over the ring of polynomials in one indeterminate over a finite field and also capture the special values at non-positive integers of $L$-series associated to Drinfeld modules over Tate algebras defined over the same ring. We compute the exact degree in $t_0$ of these special polynomials and show that this degree is an invariant for a natural action of Goss' group of digi…
The q-calculus theory is a novel theory that is based on finite difference re-scaling. The rapid development of q-calculus has led to the discovery of new generalizations of q-Euler polynomials involving q-integers. The present paper deals with the modified Dirichlet's type of twisted q-Euler polynomials with weight alpha. We apply the method of generating function and p-adic q-integral representation on Zp, which are exploited to derive further classes of q-Euler numbers and polynomials. To be more precise we summarize our results as follows, we obtain some combinatorial relations between mod…
Let $X$ be an elliptic curve or a ramifying hyperelliptic curve over $\mathbb F_q$. We will discuss how to factorize the coefficients of the exponential and logarithm series for a Hayes module over such a curve. This allows us to obtain $v$-adic convergence results for such exponential and logarithm series, for $v$ a 'finite' prime. As an application, we can show that the $v$-adic Goss $L$-value $L_v(1, Ψ)$ is log-algebraic for suitable characters $Ψ$.
In the present paper, we effect Dirichlet's type of twisted Eulerian polynomials by using p-adic fermionic q-integral on the p-adic integer ring. Also, we introduce some new interesting identities for them. As a result of them, by using contour integral on the generating function of Dirichlet's type of twisted Eulerian polynomials and so we define twisted Eulerian-L-function which interpolates of Dirichlet's type of Eulerian polynomials at negative integers which we state in this paper.
We prove an Iwasawa Main Conjecture for the class group of the $\mathfrak{p}$-cyclotomic extension $\mathcal{F}$ of the function field $\mathbb{F}_q(θ)$ ($\mathfrak{p}$ is a prime of $\mathbb{F}_q[θ]\,$), showing that its Fitting ideal is generated by a Stickelberger element. We use this and a link between the Stickelberger element and a $\mathfrak{p}$-adic $L$-function to prove a close analog of the Ferrero-Washington theorem for $\mathcal{F}$ and to provide informations on the $\mathfrak{p}$-adic valuations of the Bernoulli-Goss numbers $β(j)$ (i.e., on the values of the Goss $ζ$-function at…
In this paper, using $p$-adic analysis and $p$-adic L-functions, we show how to extend classical congruences (due to Wilson, Gauss, Dirichlet, Jacobi, Wolstenholme, Glaisher, Morley, Lemher and other people) to modulo $p^k$ for any $k>0$.
Let $τ$ be the primitive Dirichlet character of conductor 4, let $χ$ be the primitive even Dirichlet character of conductor 8 and let $k$ be an integer. Then the $U_2$ operator acting on cuspidal overconvergent modular forms of weight $2k+1$ and character $τ$ has slopes in the arithmetic progression ${2,4,...,2n,...}$, and the $U_2$ operator acting on cuspidal overconvergent modular forms of weight $k$ and character $χ\cdot τ^k$ has slopes in the arithmetic progression ${1,2,...,n,...}$. We then show that the characteristic polynomials of the Hecke operators $U_2$ and $T_p$ acting on the space…
We introduce an analog of part of the Langlands-Shahidi method to the p-adic setting, constructing reciprocals of certain p-adic L-functions using the nonconstant terms of the Fourier expansions of Eisenstein series. We carry out the method for the group SL(2), and give explicit p-adic measures whose Mellin transforms are reciprocals of Dirichlet L-functions.
We prove a subconvexity bound for the central value L(1/2, chi) of a Dirichlet L-function of a character chi to a prime power modulus q=p^n of the form L(1/2, chi)\ll p^r * q^(theta+epsilon) with a fixed r and theta\approx 0.1645 < 1/6, breaking the long-standing Weyl exponent barrier. In fact, we develop a general new theory of estimation of short exponential sums involving p-adically analytic phases, which can be naturally seen as a p-adic analogue of the method of exponent pairs. This new method is presented in a ready-to-use form and applies to a wide class of well-behaved phases including…
In this article, we study $p$-adic torus periods for certain $p$-adic valued functions on Shimura curves coming from classical origin. We prove a $p$-adic Waldspurger formula for these periods, generalizing the recent work of Bertolini, Darmon, and Prasanna. In pursuing such a formula, we construct a new anti-cyclotomic $p$-adic $L$-function of Rankin-Selberg type. At a character of positive weight, the $p$-adic $L$-function interpolates the central critical value of the complex Rankin-Selberg $L$-function. Its value at a Dirichlet character, which is outside the range of interpolation, essent…
In the present paper, we introduce Eulerian polynomials attached to by using p-adic q-integral on Zp . Also, we give new interesting identities via the generating functions of Dirichlet's type of Eulerian polynomials. After, by applying Mellin transformation to this generating function of Dirichlet' type of Eulerian polynomials, we derive L-function for Eulerian polynomials which interpolates of Dirichlet's type of Eulerian polynomials at negative integers.
Let F be a global function field of characteristic p with ring of integers A and let Φbe a Hayes module on the Hilbert class field H(A) of F. We prove an Iwasawa Main Conjecture for the Z_p^\infty-extension F/F generated by the \mathfrak{p}-power torsion of Φ(\mathfrak{p} a prime of A). The main tool is a Stickelberger series whose specialization provides a generator for the Fitting ideal of the class group of F. Moreover we prove that the same series, evaluated at complex or p-adic characters, interpolates the Goss Zeta-function or some p-adic L-function, thus providing the link between the a…
The Euler--Riemann zeta function is a largely studied numbertheoretic object, and the birthplace of several conjectures, such as the Riemann Hypothesis. Different approaches are used to study it, including $p$-adic analysis : deriving information from $p$-adic zeta functions. A generalized version of $p$-adic zeta functions (Riemann zeta function) are $p$-adic $L$-functions (resp. Dirichlet $L$-functions). This paper describes formalization of $p$-adic $L$-functions in an interactive theorem prover Lean 3. Kubota--Leopoldt $p$-adic $L$-functions are meromorphic functions emerging from the spec…
For certain sequences $A$ of positive integers with missing $g$-adic digits, the Dirichlet series $F_A(s) = \sum_{a\in A} a^{-s}$ has abscissa of convergence $σ_c < 1$. The number $σ_c$ is computed. This generalizes and strengthens a classical theorem of Kempner on the convergence of the sum of the reciprocals of a sequence of integers with missing decimal digits.
We prove the q-aspect analogue of Heath-Brown's result on the twelfth power moment of the Riemann zeta function for Dirichlet L-functions to odd prime power moduli. Our results rely on the p-adic method of stationary phase for sums of products and complement Nunes' bound for smooth square-free moduli.
As a natural generalization of the notion of `higher rank Euler system', we develop a theory of `higher special elements' in the exterior power biduals of the Galois cohomology of $p$-adic representations. We show, in particular, that such elements encode detailed information about the structure of Galois cohomology groups and are related by families of congruences involving natural height pairings on cohomology. As a first concrete application of the approach, we use it to refine, and extend, a variety of existing results and conjectures concerning the values of derivatives of Dirichlet $L$-s…
The aim of this paper is to provide an analogue of the Ball-Rivoal theorem for $p$-adic $L$-values of Dirichlet characters. More precisely, we prove for a Dirichlet character $χ$ and a number field $K$ the formula $\dim_{K}(K+\sum_{i=2}^{s+1} L_p(i,χω^{1-i}) K )\geq \frac{(1-ε)\log (s)}{2[K:\mathbb{Q}](1+\log 2)}$. As a byproduct, we establish an asymptotic linear independence result for the values of the $p$-adic Hurwitz zeta function.
In this paper, we define the p-adic Euler L-functions using the fermionic p-adic integral on Zp. By computing the values of the p-adic Euler L-functions at negative integers, we show that for Dirichlet characters with odd conductor, this definition is quivalent to the previous definition following Kubata-Leopoldt and Washington's approach. We also study the behavior of p-adic Euler L-functions at positive integers. An interesting thing is that most of the results in Section 11.3.3 of Cohen's book [H. Cohen, Number Theory Vol. II: Analytic and Modern Tools, Graduate Texts in Mathematics, 240. S…
The Asai (or twisted tensor) $L$-function of a Bianchi modular form $Ψ$ is the $L$-function attached to the tensor induction to $\mathbb{Q}$ of its associated Galois representation. In this paper, when $Ψ$ is ordinary at $p$ we construct a $p$-adic analogue of this $L$-function: that is, a $p$-adic measure on $\mathbb{Z}_p^\times$ that interpolates the critical values of the Asai $L$-function twisted by Dirichlet characters of $p$-power conductor. The construction uses techniques analogous to those used by Lei, Zerbes and the first author in order to construct an Euler system attached to the A…
We introduce a family of L-series specialising to both L-series associated to certain Dirichlet characters over F_q[T] and to integral values of Carlitz-Goss zeta function associated to F_q[T]. We prove, with the use of the theory of deformations of vectorial modular forms, a formula for their value at 1, as well as some arithmetic properties of other values at positive integers
We introduce $p$-adic Kummer spaces of continuous functions on $\mathbb{Z}_p$ that satisfy certain Kummer type congruences. We will classify these spaces and show their properties, for instance, ring properties and certain decompositions. As a result, these functions have always a fixed point, functions of certain subclasses have always a unique simple zero in $\mathbb{Z}_p$. The fixed points and the zeros are effectively computable by given algorithms. This theory can be transferred to values of Dirichlet $L$-functions at negative integer arguments. That leads to a conjecture about their stru…
Let f be a modular form of weight k and Nebentypus $ψ$. By generalizing a construction of Dabrowski and Delbourgo, we construct a p-adic L-function interpolating the special values of the L-function $L(s,\mathrm{Sym}^2(f)\otimes ξ)$, where $ξ$ is a Dirichlet character. When s=k-1 and $ξ=ψ^{-1}$, this p-adic L-function vanishes due to the presence of a so-called trivial zero. We give a formula for the derivative at s=k-1 of this p-adic L-function when the form f is Steinberg at p. If the weight of f is even, the conductor is even and squarefree, and the Nebentypus is trivial this formula implie…
By using $q$-Volkenborn integration and uniform differentiable on $\mathbb{Z}%_{p}$, we construct $p$-adic $q$-zeta functions. These functions interpolate the $q$-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. The value of $p$-adic $q$-zeta functions at negative integers are given explicitly. We also define new generating functions of $q$-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. By using these functions, we prove analytic continuation of some basic (or $q$-) $L$% -series. These generating functions also interpolate Barnes' type Changhee $% q $-Bernoulli numbers with attached to Dirichlet character as well. By a…
We construct the two-variable $p$-adic $q$-$L$-function which interpolates the generalized $q$-Bernoulli polynomials associated with primitive Dirichlet character $χ$. Indeed, this function is the $q$-extension of two-variable $p$-adic $L$-function due to Fox, corresponding to the case $q=1 .$ Finally, we give some $p$-adic integral representation for this two-variable $p$-adic $q$-$L$-function and derive to $q$-extension of the generalized formula of Diamond and Ferro and Greenberg for the two-variable $p$-adic $L$-function in terms of the $p$-adic gamma and $\log$ gamma function.
In the present paper, we investigate special generalized q-Euler numbers and polynomials. Some earlier results of T. Kim in terms of q-Euler polynomials with weight alpha can be deduced. For presentation of our formulas we apply the method of generating function and p-adic q-integral representation on Zp. We summarize our results as follows. In section 2, by using combinatorial techniques we present two formulas for q-Euler numbers with weight alpha. In section 3, we derive distribution formula (Multiplication Theorem) for Dirichlet type of q-Euler numbers and polynomials with weight . Moreove…
The principal aim of this article is to attach and study $p$-adic $L$-functions to cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations $Π$ of $\mathrm{GL}(2n)$ over a totally real field $F$ admitting a Shalika model. We use a modular symbol approach, along the global lines of the work of Ash and Ginzburg, but our results are more definitive since we draw heavily upon the methods used in the recent and separate works of all the three authors. By construction our $p$-adic $L$-functions are distributions on the Galois group of the maximal abelian extension of $F$ unramified outside $p\infty$. More…
We study Euler systems for $\mathbb{G}_m$ over a number field $k$. Motivated by a distribution-theoretic idea of Coleman, we formulate a conjecture regarding the existence of such systems that is elementary to state and yet strictly finer than Kato's equivariant Tamagawa number conjecture for Dirichlet $L$-series at $s=0$. To investigate the conjecture, we develop an abstract theory of `Euler limits' and, in particular, prove the existence of canonical `restriction' and `localisation' sequences in this theory. By using this approach we obtain a variety of new results, ranging from a proof, mod…
The set of primes where a hypergeomeric series with rational parameters is $p$-adically bounded is known by [10] to have a Dirichlet density. We establish a formula for this Dirichlet density and conjecture that it is rare for the density to be large. We prove this conjecture for hypergeometric series whose parameters have denominators equal to a prime of the form $p = 2q^r + 1$, where $q$ is an odd prime, by establishing an upper bound on the density of bounded primes in this case. The general case remains open. This paper is the output of an undergraduate research course taught by the first …
Let G by compact p-adic Lie group and suppose that G is FAb, i.e., that H/[H,H] is finite for every open subgroup H of G. The representation zeta function Z(G,s) encodes the distribution of continuous irreducible complex characters of G. Here s denotes a complex variable and Z(G,s) is defined as the Dirichlet generating function whose nth coefficient is equal to the number of irreducible characters of G of degree n. For p greater than 2 it is known that Z(G,s) defines a meromorphic function on the complex plane. Wedderburn's structure theorem for semisimple algebras implies that ZG,-2) = |G| f…
For a prime number $p\ge 5$, we consider three classical cusp eigenforms $f_j(z)$ of weights $k_1, k_2, k_3$, of conductors $N_1, N_2, N_3$, and of nebentypus characters $ψ_j \bmod N_j$. According to H.Hida and R.Coleman, one can include each $f_j$ into a {$p$-adic analytic family} $k_j \mapsto \{f_{j,k_j}\}$ of cusp eigenforms $f_{j,k_j}$ of weights $k_j$ in such a way that $f_{j,k_j}=f_j$, and that all their Fourier coefficients $a_n(f_{j, k_j})$ are given by certain $p$-adic analytic functions $k_j{}\mapsto a_{n, j}(k_j{})$. The purpose of this paper is to describe a four variable $p$-adic …
In this paper we provide an explicit construction of a $distinctive$ multiple Dirichlet series associated to products of quadratic Dirichlet L-series, which we believe should be tightly connected to a generalized metaplectic Whittaker function on the double cover of a Kac-Moody group. To do so, we first impose a set of axioms, independent of any group of functional equations, which the aforementioned object should satisfy. As a consequence, we deduce that the coefficients of the $p$-parts of the multiple Dirichlet series satisfy certain recurrence relations. These relations lead to a family of…
In a previous paper the first two named authors defined an action of a Weyl group on rational functions and used it to construct multiple Dirichlet series. These series are related to Whittaker functions on an n-fold metaplectic cover of a reductive group. In this paper, we define metaplectic analogues of the Demazure and Demazure-Lusztig operators. We show how these operators, together with results of McNamara, can be used to compute Whittaker functions on metaplectic groups over p-adic fields.
We define a family of pseudodifferential operators on the Hilbert space $L^2(\mathbf{Q}_p)$ of complex valued square-integrable functions on the $p$-adic number field $\mathbf{Q}_p$. The Riemann zeta-function and the related Dirichlet $L$-functions can be expressed as a trace of these operators on a subspace of $L^2(\mathbf{Q}_p)$. We also extend this to the $L$-functions associated with modular (cusp) forms. Wavelets on $L^2(\mathbf{Q}_p)$ are common sets of eigenfunctions of these operators.
