It establishes a regularity criterion for non-Newtonian fluids in $\mathbb{R}^3$ in terms of the weighted gradient of the velocity field, based on the Caffarelli--Kohn--Nirenberg inequality.
We consider density dependent, non-Newtonian, incompressible system with the space being flat torus. The viscious stress in the momentum equation is understood through the rheological law and its connection to the proper convex potential. We define the dissipative measure-valued solutions for the aforementioned equations as well as provide a proof of its existence. The main result of this work is the mv-strong uniqueness of the defined solutions.
In this note, we study the random data problem for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in Euclidean space with arbitrary regularity, using the randomization introduced in \cite{Shen-Soffer-Wu-2021-1}.
We study a system of nonlinear partial differential equations describing the unsteady motions of incompressible chemically reacting non-Newtonian fluids. The system under consideration consists of the generalized Navier-Stokes equations with a power-law type stress-strain relation, where the power-law index depends on the concentration of a chemical, coupled to a convection-diffusion equation for the concentration. This system of equations arises in the rheology of the synovial fluid found in the cavities of synovial joints. We prove the existence of global weak solutions of the non-stationary…
We consider the three-dimensional incompressible free-boundary Euler equations in a bounded domain and with surface tension. Using Lagrangian coordinates, we establish a priori estimates for solutions with minimal regularity assumptions on the initial data.
Existence, regularity and uniqueness of weak solutions for a class of incompressible generalized Navier-Stokes system with slip boundary conditions in $\mathbb{R}^3_+$
In this paper, we systematically study the regularity theory of the linear system of nearly incompressible elasticity. In the setting of stochastic homogenization, we develop new techniques to establish the large-scale estimates of displacement and pressure, which are uniform in both the scale parameter and the incompressibility parameter. In particular, we obtain the boundary estimates in a new class of Lipschitz domains whose boundaries are smooth at large scales and bumpy at small scales.
Given any solution $u$ of the Euler equations which is assumed to have some regularity in space - in terms of Besov norms, natural in this context - we show by interpolation methods that it enjoys a corresponding regularity in time and that the associated pressure $p$ is twice as regular as $u$. This generalizes a recent result by Isett [16] (see also Colombo and De Rosa [8]), which covers the case of Hölder spaces.
We establish the regularity of weak solutions for the vorticity equation associated to a family of desingularised models for vortex filament dynamics in 3D incompressible viscous flows. These include and generalise the classical model "of an allowance for the thickness of the vortices" due to Louis Rosenhead in 1930. Our approach is based on an interplay between the geometry of vorticity and analytic inequalities in Sobolev spaces.
We consider the three-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations in a bounded domain with small volume and free moving surface boundary. We establish a priori estimate for solutions with minimal regularity assumptions on the initial data in Lagrangian coordinates. In particular, due to the lack of the Cauchy invariance for MHD equations, the smallness assumption on the fluid domain is required to compensate a loss of control of the flow map. Moreover, we show that the magnetic field has certain regularizing effect which allows us to control the vorticity of the fluid and t…
This paper is devoted to the maximal $L^1$ regularity and asymptotic behavior for solutions to the inhomogeneous incompressible Navier-Stokes equations under a scaling-invariant smallness assumption on the initial velocity. We obtain a new global $L^1$-in-time estimate for the Lipschitz seminorm of the velocity field without any smallness assumption on the initial density fluctuation. In the derivation of this estimate, we study the maximal $L^1$ regularity for a linear Stokes system with variable coefficients. The analysis tools are a use of the semigroup generated by a generalized Stokes ope…
The global existence of solutions to incompressible viscoelastic flows has been a longstanding open problem, even for the global weak solution. Under some special structure ("div-curl" condition) the global small smooth solution was obtained in \cite{llzhou, cz}. However, the result with large initial data remains unknown up to now, and it is studied in this paper. We shall put forward a new structure: the cone-condition and then derive the global smooth solution to 3D incompressible viscoelastic system with a class of large initial data. The key is to gain an angle quantity in the estimate of…
In this paper, we are concerned with the two-dimensional (2D) incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations with velocity dissipation given by $(-Δ)^α$ and magnetic diffusion given by reducing about logarithmic diffusion from standard Laplacian diffusion. More precisely, we establish the global regularity of solutions to the system as long as the power $α$ is a positive constant. In addition, we prove several global \emph{a priori} bounds for the case $α=0$. In particular, our results significantly improve previous works and take us one step closer to a complete resolution of the global r…
For any positive regularity parameter $β< \frac 12$, we construct non-conservative weak solutions of the 3D incompressible Euler equations which lie in $H^β$ uniformly in time. In particular, we construct solutions which have an $L^2$-based regularity index \emph{strictly larger} than $\frac 13$, thus deviating from the $H^{\frac{1}{3}}$-regularity corresponding to the Kolmogorov-Obhukov $\frac 53$ power spectrum in the inertial range.

Energy conservation for weak solutions of incompressible Newtonian fluid equations in Hölder spaces with Dirichlet boundary conditions in the half-space
In this study we are interested in the Navier-Stokes-like system for generalized viscous fluids whose viscosity has a power-structure with exponent q. We develop an existence theory of periodic in time weak solutions to the three-dimensional flows subject to a periodic in time force datum whenever q>6/5, which is the optimal bound for the existence of weak solutions.
In this paper we prove optimal error estimates for {solutions with natural regularity} of the equations describing the unsteady motion of incompressible shear-thinning fluids. We consider a full space-time semi-implicit scheme for the discretization. The main novelty, with respect to previous results, is that we obtain the estimates directly without introducing intermediate semi-discrete problems, which enables the treatment of homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions.
We are concerned with the energy equality for weak solutions to Newtonian and non-Newtonian incompressible fluids. In particular, the results obtained for non-Newtonian fluids, after restriction to the Newtonian case, equal or improve the known results. Furthermore, a new result below allows an interpretation of the classical Shinbrot condition, coherent to the more recent results in the literature.
Under the action of a time-periodic external forces we prove the existence of at least one time-periodic weak solution for the interaction between a three-dimensional incompressible fluid, governed by the Navier- Stokes equation and a two dimensional elastic plate. The challenge is that the Eulerian domain for the fluid changes in time and is a part of the solution. We introduce a two fixed-point methodology: First we construct a time-periodic solutions for a given variable time-periodic geometry. Then in a second step a (set-valued) fixed point is performed w.r.t.\ the geometry of the domain.…
In this work, we introduce a notion of dissipative weak solution for a system describing the evolution of a heat-conducting incompressible non-Newtonian fluid. This concept of solution is based on the balance of entropy instead of the balance of energy and has the advantage that it admits a weak-strong uniqueness principle, justifying the proposed formulation. We provide a proof of existence of solutions based on finite element approximations, thus obtaining the first convergence result of a numerical scheme for the full evolutionary system including temperature dependent coefficients and visc…
In this work we investigate the helicity regularity for weak solutions of the incompressible Euler equations. To prove regularity and conservation of the helicity we will threat the velocity $u$ and its $curl\, u$ as two independent functions and we mainly show that the helicity is a constant of motion assuming $u \in L^{2r}_t(C^θ_x)$ and $curl \,u \in L^κ_t(W^{α,1}_x)$ where $r,κ$ are conjugate Hölder exponents and $2θ+α\geq 1$. Using the same techniques we also show that the helicity has a suitable Hölder regularity even in the range where it is not necessarily constant.
