We study the Coulomb branches of three-dimensional $\mathcal N=4$ quiver gauge theories of type $T_ρ(SU(N))$ associated with non-maximal nilpotent orbits of $SL(N)$. Using the Hall--Littlewood closed form for Coulomb-branch Hilbert series, together with independent checks from the monopole formula, we compute exact unrefined Hilbert series for all non-maximal partitions $ρ\vdash N$ with $N=4$, and extend the analysis to $N=5,6$.
By analyzing the plethystic logarithms of the resulting Hilbert series, we find that in all cases examined the Coulomb branch is a complete intersection. The number of generators and relations follows a uniform pattern governed by the transpose partition $ρ^T$, with exactly $N-1$ relations appearing independently of $ρ$ in these examples. We summarize the results in explicit classification tables and formulate conjectures extending these patterns to arbitrary $N$. Our findings provide strong evidence for a remarkable uniformity in the algebraic structure of Coulomb branches within the $T_ρ(SU(N))$ family at low rank.
Even though for generic $\mathcal{N}=1$ theories it is not possible to separate distinct branches of supersymmetric vacua, in this paper we study a special class of $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs, these of Class $\mathcal{S}_k$ for which it is possible to define Coulomb and Higgs branches precisely as for the $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories of Class $\mathcal{S}$ from which they descend. We study the BPS operators that parameterise these branches of vacua using the different limits of the superconformal index as well as the Coulomb and Higgs branch Hilbert Series. Finally, with the tools we have developed, we…
We compute the spectrum of scaling dimensions of Coulomb branch operators in 4d rank-2 $\mathcal{N}{=}2$ superconformal field theories. Only a finite rational set of scaling dimensions is allowed. It is determined by using information about the global topology of the locus of metric singularities on the Coulomb branch, the special Kähler geometry near those singularities, and electric-magnetic duality monodromies along orbits of the $\rm\, U(1)_R$ symmetry. A set of novel topological and geometric results are developed which promise to be useful for the study and classification of Coulomb bran…
Three-dimensional Coulomb branches have a prominent role in the study of moduli spaces of supersymmetric gauge theories with $8$ supercharges in $3,4,5$, and $6$ dimensions. Inspired by simply laced $3$d $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric quiver gauge theories, we consider Coulomb branches constructed from non-simply laced quivers with edge multiplicity $k$ and no flavor nodes. In a computation of the Coulomb branch as the space of dressed monopole operators, a center-of-mass $U(1)$ symmetry needs to be ungauged. Typically, for a simply laced theory, all choices of the ungauged $U(1)$ (i.e. all ch…
We study two types of discrete operations on Coulomb branches of $3d$ $\mathcal{N}=4$ quiver gauge theories using both abelianisation and the monopole formula. We generalise previous work on discrete quotients of Coulomb branches and introduce novel wreathed quiver theories. We further study quiver folding which produces Coulomb branches of non-simply laced quivers.
Five- and four-dimensional superconformal field theories with eight supercharges arise from canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory, respectively. We study their Coulomb and Higgs branches using crepant resolutions and deformations of the singularities. We propose a relation between the resulting moduli spaces, by compactifying the theories to 3d, followed by 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ mirror symmetry and an $S$-type gauging of an abelian flavor symmetry. In particular, we use this correspondence to determine the Higgs branch of some 5d SCFTs and their magnetic quivers…
We study the low energy effective dynamics of four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theories of class $\mathcal{S}_k$ on the generalized Coulomb branch. The low energy effective gauge couplings are naturally encoded in algebraic curves $\mathcal{X}$, which we derive for general values of the couplings and mass deformations. We then recast these IR curves $\mathcal{X}$ to the UV or M-theory form $\mathcal{C}$: the punctured Riemann surfaces on which the six-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ ${A_{k-1}}$ SCFTs are compactified giving the class $\mathcal{S}_k$ theories. We find that …
Compactification of M-theory and of IIB string theory on threefold canonical singularities gives rise to superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in 5d and 4d, respectively. The resolutions and deformations of the singularities encode salient features of the SCFTs and of their moduli spaces. In this paper, we build on Part 0 of this series (arXiv:2007.15600) and further explore the physics of SCFTs arising from isolated hypersurface singularities. We study in detail these canonical isolated hypersurface singularities that admit a smooth Calabi-Yau (crepant) resolution. Their 5d and 4d physics is …
To study the quantized Coulomb branch of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ unitary SQCD theories, we propose a new method to compute correlators of monopole and Casimir operators that are inserted in the $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^2_ε$ Omega background. This method combines results from supersymmetric localization with inputs from the brane realisation of the correlators in type IIB string theory. The main challenge is the computation of the partition functions of certain Super-Matrix-Models (SMMs), which appear in the contribution of monopole bubbling sectors and are realised as the theory living on the D1…
There are two important different mechanisms, the imaginary potential and entropic force, to investigate the dissociation of heavy quarkonia. In this paper, we calculate these two quantities for static and moving quarkonia in the rotating black 3-brane Type IIB supergravity solution dual to N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory on the Coulomb branch (cSYM) at strong coupling. At T 6= 0, there are two black hole branches: the large and small black hole branches. We investigate the effects of rotating parameter and rapidity for the static and moving quakonium at the large and small black hole branches. …
By studying Rozansky-Witten theory with non-compact target spaces we find new connections with knot invariants whose physical interpretation was not known. This opens up several new avenues, which include a new formulation of $q$-series invariants of 3-manifolds in terms of affine Grassmannians and a generalization of Akutsu-Deguchi-Ohtsuki knot invariants.
We study Hasse diagrams of moduli spaces of $\mathrm{3d}$ $\mathcal{N}=4$ quiver gauge theories. The goal of this work is twofold: 1) We introduce the notion of inverting a Hasse diagram and conjecture that the Coulomb branch and Higgs branch Hasse diagrams of certain theories are related through this operation. 2) We introduce a Hasse diagram to map out the entire moduli space of the theory, including the Coulomb, Higgs and mixed branches. For theories whose Higgs and Coulomb branch Hasse diagrams are related by inversion it is straight forward to generate the Hasse diagram of the entire modu…
