The $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_2^{α_1} \times \mathbb{Z}_4^{α_2} \times \mathbb{Z}_8^{α_3}$, and can be seen as linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2$ when $α_2=α_3=0$, $\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive or $\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive codes when $α_1=α_3=0$ or $α_1=α_2=0$, respectively, or $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes when $α_3=0$. A $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard code is a Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive code. In this paper, we generalize some known results for $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear Hadamard codes to $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard codes with $α_1 \neq 0$, $α_2 \neq 0$, and $α_3 \neq 0$. First, we give a recursive construction of $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive Hadamard codes of type $(α_1,α_2, α_3;t_1,t_2, t_3)$ with $t_1\geq 1$, $t_2 \geq 0$, and $t_3\geq 1$. Then, we show that in general the $\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear, $\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear and $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear Hadamard codes are not included in the family of $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard codes with $α_1 \neq 0$, $α_2 \neq 0$, and $α_3 \neq 0$. Actually, we point out that none of these nonlinear $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard codes of length $2^{11}$ is equivalent to a $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard code of any other type, a $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear Hadamard code, or a $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard code, with $s\geq 2$, of the same length $2^{11}$.
A subset of a vector space $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ is $K$-additive if it is a linear space over the subfield $K\subseteq \mathbb{F}_q$. Let $q=p^e$, $p$ prime, and $e>1$. Bounds on the rank and dimension of the kernel of generalised Hadamard (GH) codes which are $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive are established. For specific ranks and dimensions of the kernel within these bounds, $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive GH codes are constructed. Moreover, for the case $e=2$, it is shown that the given bounds are tight and it is possible to construct an $\mathbb{F}_p$-additive GH code for all allowable ranks and dimensions of t…
The $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}\dots\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_p^{α_1} \times \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}^{α_2} \times \cdots \times \mathbb{Z}_{p^s}^{α_s}$, and can be seen as linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_p$ when $α_i=0$ for all $i \in \{2,\dots, s\}$, a $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive code when $α_i=0$ for all $i \in \{1,\dots, s-1\}$ , or a $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive code when $s=2$, or $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes when $p=2$ and $s=2$. A $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}\dots\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code ov…
The $\Z_p\Z_{p^2}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\Z_p^{α_1} \times \Z_{p^2}^{α_2}$, and can be seen as linear codes over $\Z_p$ when $α_2=0$, $\Z_{p^2}$-additive codes when $α_1=0$, or $\Z_2\Z_4$-additive codes when $p=2$. A $\Z_p\Z_{p^2}$-linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code over $\Z_p$ which is the Gray map image of a $\Z_p\Z_{p^2}$-additive code. In this paper, we generalize some known results for $\Z_p\Z_{p^2}$-linear GH codes with $p=2$ to any $p\geq 3$ prime when $α_1 \neq 0$. First, we give a recursive construction of $\Z_p\Z_{p^2}$-additive GH codes of type $(α_1,α_2;t…
The $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}^n_{2^s}$, and can be seen as a generalization of linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2$ and $\mathbb{Z}_4$. A $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard code is a binary Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-additive code. It is known that the dimension of the kernel can be used to give a complete classification of the $\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear Hadamard codes. In this paper, the kernel of $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes and its dimension are established for $s > 2$. Moreover, we prove that this invariant only…
The kernel-block rank profiles of the $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear and the $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes, and a complete classification of the $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard codes
The $\Z_{p^s}$-additive codes of length $n$ are subgroups of $\Z_{p^s}^n$, and can be seen as a generalization of linear codes over $\Z_2$, $\Z_4$, or $\Z_{2^s}$ in general. A $\Z_{p^s}$-linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code over $\Z_p$ which is the image of a $\Z_{p^s}$-additive code by a generalized Gray map. A partial classification of these codes by using the dimension of the kernel is known. In this paper, we establish that some $\Z_{p^s}$-linear GH codes of length $p^t$ are equivalent, once $t$ is fixed. This allows us to improve the known upper bounds for the number of such…
A $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code of length $α+2β=2^t$ is a binary Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $Z_2Z_4$-additive code with $α$ binary coordinates and $β$ quaternary coordinates. It is known that there are exactly $[(t-1)/2]$ and $[t/2]$ nonequivalent $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard codes of length $2^t$, with $α=0$ and $α\not=0$, respectively, for all $t\geq 3$. In this paper, it is shown that each $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code with $α=0$ is equivalent to a $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard code with $α\not=0$; so there are only $[t/2]$ nonequivalent $Z_2Z_4$-linear Hadamard codes of length $…
In this paper, we study lattice coding for Rician fading wireless channels. This is motivated in particular by preliminary studies suggesting the Rician fading model for millimeter-wavelength wireless communications. We restrict to lattice codes arising from rotations of $\mathbb{Z}^n$, and to a single-input single-output (SISO) channel. We observe that several lattice design criteria suggest the optimality of Hadamard rotations. For instance, we prove that Hadamard rotations maximize the diamond-packing density among all rotated $\mathbb{Z}^n$ lattices. Finally, we provide simulations to show…
In this paper, we study a relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes. It is shown that the Gray image of a two-distance $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive code is a binary two-distance code and that the Gray image of a relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive code, with nontrivial binary part, is a linear binary relative two-weight code. The structure of relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes are described. Finally, we discussed permutation automorphism group of a $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes.
In this paper, we study $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$-additive codes, where $p$ is prime and $u^{2}=0$. In particular, we determine a Gray map from $ \mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$ to $\mathbb{Z}_p^{ α+2 β}$ and study generator and parity check matrices for these codes. We prove that a Gray map $Φ$ is a distance preserving map from ($\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$,Gray distance) to ($\mathbb{Z}_p^{α+2β}$,Hamming distance), it is a weight preserving map as well. Furthermore we study the structure of $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$-additive cyclic codes.
In this paper, we introduce a additive Tridiagonal and Double-Tridiagonal codes over $\mathbb{F}_4$ and then we study the properties of the code. Also, we find the number of additive Tridiagonal codes over $\mathbb{F}_4.$ Finally, we study the applications of Double-Tridiagonal codes to secret sharing scheme based on matrix projection.
In this paper, we study $\mathbb{Z}_{2}\mathbb{Z}_{2}[u]$-$(1+u)$-additive constacyclic code of arbitrary length. Firstly, we study the algebraic structure of this family of codes and a set of generator polynomials for this family as a $(\mathbb{Z}_{2}+u\mathbb{Z}_{2})[x]$-submodule of the ring $R_{α,β}$. Secondly, we give the minimal generating sets of this family codes, and we determine the relationship of generators between the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}\mathbb{Z}_{2}[u]$-$(1+u)$-additive constacyclic codes and its dual and give the parameters in terms of the degrees of the generator polynomials of th…
A ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive code ${\cal C}\subseteq{\mathbb{Z}}_2^α\times{\mathbb{Z}}_4^β$ is called cyclic if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets, the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ and the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$ coordinates, such that any simultaneous cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves invariant the code. These codes can be identified as submodules of the $\mathbb{Z}_4[x]$-module $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^α-1)\times\mathbb{Z}_4[x]/(x^β-1)$. Any $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive cyclic code ${\cal C}$ is of the form $\langle (b(x)\mid{ 0}), (\ell…
We construct a class of $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive cyclic codes generated by pairs of polynomials, study their algebraic structures, and obtain the generator matrix of any code in the class. Using a probabilistic method, we prove that, for any positive real number $δ<1/3$ such that the entropy at $3δ/2$ is less than $1/2$, the probability that the relative minimal distance of a random code in the class is greater than $δ$ is almost $1$; and the probability that the rate of the random code equals to $1/3$ is also almost $1$. As an obvious consequence, the $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-add…
In this work, we study the structure of multivariable modular codes over finite chain rings when the ambient space is a principal ideal ring. We also provide some applications to additive modular codes over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_4$.
We use symplectic self-dual additive codes over $\mathbb{F}_4$ obtained from metacirculant graphs to construct, for the first time, $[[\ell, 0, d ]]$ qubit codes with parameters $(\ell,d) \in \{(78, 20), (90, 21), (91, 22), (93,21),(96,21)\}$. Secondary constructions applied to the qubit codes result in many qubit codes that perform better than the previous best-known.
In this paper we study the structure and properties of additive right and left polycyclic codes induced by a binary vector $a$ in $\mathbb{F}_{2}^{n}.$ We find the generator polynomials and the cardinality of these codes. We also study different duals for these codes. In particular, we show that if $C$ is a right polycyclic code induced by a vector $a\in \mathbb{F}_{2}^{n}$, then the Hermitian dual of $C$ is a sequential code induced by $a.$ As an application of these codes, we present examples of additive right polycyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{4}$ with more codewords than comparable optimal…
In this paper we study $\prod\limits_{i=1}^{n} \mathbb{Z}_{2^i}$-Additive Cyclic Codes. These codes are identified as $\mathbb{Z}_{2^n}[x]$-submodules of $\prod\limits_{i=1}^{n}\mathbb{Z}_{2^i}[x]/ \langle x^{α_i}-1\rangle$; $α_i$ and $\rm{i}$ being relatively prime for each $i=1,2,\ldots,n.$ We first define a $\prod\limits_{i=1}^{n}\mathbb{Z}_{2^i}$-additive cyclic code of a certain length. We then define the distance between two codewords and the minimum distance of such a code. Moreover we relate these to binary codes using the generalized Gray maps. We define the duals of such codes and sh…
The $\Z_{2^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\Z^n_{2^s}$, and can be seen as a generalization of linear codes over $\Z_2$ and $\Z_4$. A $\Z_{2^s}$-linear code is a binary code which is the Gray map image of a $\Z_{2^s}$-additive code. We consider $\Z_{2^s}$-additive simplex codes of type $α$ and $β$, which are a generalization over $\Z_{2^s}$ of the binary simplex codes. These $\Z_{2^s}$-additive simplex codes are related to the $\Z_{2^s}$-additive Hadamard codes. In this paper, we use this relationship to establish the kernel of their binary images, under the Gray map, the $\Z_{2^s}$-linea…
In this paper, we study one-Lee weight and two-Lee weight codes over $\mathbb{Z}_{2}\mathbb{Z}_{2}[u]$, where $u^{2}=0$. Some properties of one-Lee weight $\mathbb{Z}_{2}\mathbb{Z}_{2}[u]$-additive codes are given, and a complete classification of one-Lee weight $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-additive formally self-dual codes is obtained. The structure of two-Lee weight projective $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$ codes is determined. Some optimal binary linear codes are obtained directly from one-Lee weight and two-Lee weight $\mathbb{Z}_{2}\mathbb{Z}_{2}[u]$-additive codes via the extended Gray m…
Let $\mathbb{Z}_p$ be the ring of integers modulo a prime number $p$ where $p-1$ is a quadratic residue modulo $p$. This paper presents the study of constacyclic codes over chain rings $\mathcal{R}=\frac{\mathbb{Z}_p[u]}{\langle u^2\rangle}$ and $\mathcal{S}=\frac{\mathbb{Z}_p[u]}{\langle u^3\rangle}$. We also study additive constacyclic codes over $\mathcal{R}\mathcal{S}$ and $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathcal{R}\mathcal{S}$ using the generator polynomials over the rings $\mathcal{R}$ and $\mathcal{S},$ respectively. Further, by defining Gray maps on $\mathcal{R}$, $\mathcal{S}$ and $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathcal{…
A code $C = Φ(\mathcal{C})$ is called $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear if it's the Gray image of the $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive code $\mathcal{C}$. In this paper, the rank and the dimension of the kernel of $\mathcal{C}$ are studied. Both of the codes $\langle Φ(\mathcal{C}) \rangle$ and $\ker(Φ(\mathcal{C}))$ are proven $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive cyclic codes, and their generator polynomials are determined. Finally, accurate values of rank and the dimension of the kernel of some classes of $\mathbb{Z}_p \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive cyclic codes are considered.
In this paper we study Butson Hadamard matrices, and codes over finite rings coming from these matrices in logarithmic form, called BH-codes. We introduce a new morphism of Butson Hadamard matrices through a generalized Gray map on the matrices in logarithmic form, which is comparable to the morphism given in a recent note of Ó Catháin and Swartz. That is, we show how, if given a Butson Hadamard matrix over the $k^{\rm th}$ roots of unity, we can construct a larger Butson matrix over the $\ell^{\rm th}$ roots of unity for any $\ell$ dividing $k$, provided that any prime $p$ dividing $k$ also d…
A ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive code ${\cal C}\subseteq{\mathbb{Z}}_2^α\times{\mathbb{Z}}_4^β$ is called cyclic if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets, the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ and the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$ coordinates, such that any cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves the code invariant. These codes can be identified as submodules of the $\mathbb{Z}_4[x]$-module $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^α-1)\times\mathbb{Z}_4[x]/(x^β-1)$. The parameters of a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive cyclic code are stated in terms of the degrees of the generat…
For $(n,d)= (66,17),(78,19)$ and $(94,21)$, we construct quantum $[[n,0,d]]$ codes which improve the previously known lower bounds on the largest minimum weights among quantum codes with these parameters. These codes are constructed from self-dual additive $\mathbb{F}_4$-codes based on pairs of circulant matrices.
Let $C$ be a $(n,q^{2k},n-k+1)_{q^2}$ additive MDS code which is linear over ${\mathbb F}_q$. We prove that if $n \geqslant q+k$ and $k+1$ of the projections of $C$ are linear over ${\mathbb F}_{q^2}$ then $C$ is linear over ${\mathbb F}_{q^2}$. We use this geometrical theorem, other geometric arguments and some computations to classify all additive MDS codes over ${\mathbb F}_q$ for $q \in \{4,8,9\}$. We also classify the longest additive MDS codes over ${\mathbb F}_{16}$ which are linear over ${\mathbb F}_4$. In these cases, the classifications not only verify the MDS conjecture for additive…
Permutation decoding is a technique which involves finding a subset $S$, called PD-set, of the permutation automorphism group of a code $C$ in order to assist in decoding. An explicit construction of $\left \lfloor{\frac{2^m-m-1}{1+m}} \right \rfloor$-PD-sets of minimum size $\left \lfloor{\frac{2^m-m-1}{1+m}} \right \rfloor + 1$ for partial permutation decoding for binary linear Hadamard codes $H_m$ of length $2^m$, for all $m\geq 4$, is described. Moreover, a recursive construction to obtain $s$-PD-sets of size $l$ for $H_{m+1}$ of length $2^{m+1}$, from a given $s$-PD-set of the same size f…
We give a polynomial representation for additive cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{p^2}$. This representation will be applied to uniquely present each additive cyclic code by at most two generator polynomials. We determine the generator polynomials of all different additive cyclic codes. A minimum distance lower bound for additive cyclic codes will also be provided using linear cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_p$. We classify all the symplectic self-dual, self-orthogonal, and nearly self-orthogonal additive cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{p^2}$. Finally, we present ten record-breaking binary quantum …
In this paper, we introduce $\mathbb{Z}_{p^r}\mathbb{Z}_{p^r}\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive cyclic codes for $r\leq s$. These codes can be identified as $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}[x]$-submodules of $\mathbb{Z}_{p^r}[x]/\langle x^α-1\rangle \times \mathbb{Z}_{p^r}[x]/\langle x^β-1\rangle\times \mathbb{Z}_{p^s}[x]/\langle x^γ-1\rangle$. We determine the generator polynomials and minimal generating sets for this family of codes. Some previous works has been done for the case $p=2$ with $r=s=1$, $r=s=2$, and $r=1,s=2$. However, we show that in these previous works the classification of these codes were incompl…
In order to construct quantum $[[n,0,d]]$ codes for $(n,d)=(56,15)$, $(57,15)$, $(58,16)$, $(63,16)$, $(67,17)$, $(70,18)$, $(71,18)$, $(79,19)$, $(83,20)$, $(87,20)$, $(89,21)$, $(95,20)$, we construct self-dual additive $\mathbb{F}_4$-codes of length $n$ and minimum weight $d$ from circulant graphs. The quantum codes with these parameters are constructed for the first time.
