We introduce and study a special class of almost contact metric manifolds, which we call anti-quasi-Sasakian (aqS). Among the class of transversely Kähler almost contact metric manifolds $(M,φ, ξ,η,g)$, quasi-Sasakian and anti-quasi-Sasakian manifolds are characterized, respectively, by the $φ$-invariance and the $φ$-anti-invariance of the $2$-form $dη$. A Boothby-Wang type theorem allows to obtain aqS structures on principal circle bundles over Kähler manifolds endowed with a closed $(2,0)$-form. We characterize aqS manifolds with constant $ξ$-sectional curvature equal to $1$: they admit an $Sp(n)\times 1$-reduction of the frame bundle such that the manifold is transversely hyperkähler, carrying a second aqS structure and a null Sasakian $η$-Einstein structure. We show that aqS manifolds with constant sectional curvature are necessarily flat and cokähler. Finally, by using a metric connection with torsion, we provide a sufficient condition for an aqS manifold to be locally decomposable as the Riemannian product of a Kähler manifold and an aqS manifold with structure of maximal rank. Under the same hypothesis, $(M,g)$ cannot be locally symmetric.
In this short note we present some remarks concerning anti-quasi-Sasakian manifolds. Some proofs of their basic properties are simplified. We also discuss some canonical invariant distributions which exist on every anti-quasi-Sasakian manifold.
The present paper is devoted to quasi-Para-Sasakian manifolds. Basic properties of such manifolds are obtained and general curvature identities are investigated. Next it is proved that if $M$ is quasi-Para-Sasakian manifold of constant curvature $K$. Then $K$ $\leq 0$ and $(i)~$if $K=0$, the manifold is paracosymplectic, $(ii)$ if $K<0$, the quasi-para-Sasakian structure of $M$ is obtained by a homothetic deformation of a para-Sasakian structure.
We provide a general method to construct examples of quasi-Sasakian 3-structures on a (4n+3)-dimensional manifold. Moreover, among this class, we give the first explicit example of a compact 3-quasi-Sasakian manifold which is not the global product of a 3-Sasakian manifold and a hyper-Kähler manifold.
We find some curvature properties of 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds which are similar to some well-known identities holding in the Sasakian case. As an application, we prove that any 3-quasi-Sasakian manifold of constant horizontal sectional curvature is necessarily either 3-α-Sasakian or 3-cosymplectic.
The object of the present paper is to study 3-dimensional conformally flat quasi-Para-Sasakian manifolds. First, the necessary and sufficient conditions are provided for 3-dimensional quasi-Para-Sasakian manifolds to be conformally flat. Next, a characterization of 3-dimensional conformally flat quasi-Para-Sasakian manifold with \b{eta}=const. is given.
We obtain sharp inequalities involving the Ricci curvature and the scalar curvature for anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from Sasakian space forms onto Riemannian manifolds.
3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds were studied systematically by the authors in a recent paper as a suitable setting unifying 3-Sasakian and 3-cosymplectic geometries. This paper throws new light on their geometric structure which reveals to be generally richer compared to the 3-Sasakian subclass. In fact, it turns out that they are multiply foliated by four distinct fundamental foliations. The study of the transversal geometries with respect to these foliations allows us to link the 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds to the more famous hyper-Kaehler and quaternionic-Kaehler geometries. Furthermore, we stron…
We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from Sasakian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We survey main results of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions defined on Sasakian manifolds. We investigate necessary and sufficient condition for an anti-invariant Riemannian submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic. We give examples of anti-invariant submersions such that characteristic vector field ξ is vertical or horizontal.
In this paper we have studied the properties of Quasi umbilical hypersurface $M$ of a Sasakian manifold $\tilde M$ with $(ϕ, g, u, v, λ)-$structure and established the relation for $M$ to be cylindrical.
On a sub-Riemannian manifold, a connection with skew-symmetric torsion is defined as the unique connection from the class of $N$-connections that has this property. Two cases are considered separately: sub-Riemannian structure of even rank, and sub-Riemannian structure of odd rank. The resulting connection, called the canonical connection, is not a metric connection in the case when the sub-Riemannian structure is of even rank. The structure of an almost quasi-Sasakian manifold is defined as an almost contact metric structure of odd rank that satisfies additional requirements. Namely, it is re…
A structure on an almost contact metric manifold is defined as a generalization of well-known cases: Sasakian, quasi-Sasakian, Kenmotsu and cosymplectic. Then we consider a semi-invariant $ξ^{\bot}$-submanifold of a manifold endowed with such a structure and two topics are studied: the integrability of distributions defined by this submanifold and characterizations for the totally umbilical case. In particular we recover results of Kenmotsu, Eum and Papaghiuc.
In this paper we have studied the properties of covariant almost analytic vector field on Q - quasi umbilical hypersurface $M$ of a Sasakian manifold $\tilde M$ with $(ϕ, g, u, v, λ)-$structure and obtained the scalars $α$ and $β$ using $1 - form u, v$ covariant almost analytic for the hypersurface $M$ to be totally umbilical and cylindrical.
In this paper, we show that a generalized Sasakian space form of dimension greater than three is either of constant sectional curvature; or a canal hypersurface in Euclidean or Minkowski spaces; or locally a certain type of twisted product of a real line and a flat almost Hermitian manifold; or locally a wapred product of a real line and a generalized complex space form; or an $α$-Sasakian space form; or it is of five dimension and admits an $α$-Sasakian Einstein structure. In particular, a local classification for generalized Sasakian space forms of dimension greater than five is obtained. A …
3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds were recently studied by the authors as a suitable setting unifying 3-Sasakian and 3-cosymplectic geometries. In this paper some geometric properties of this class of almost 3-contact metric manifolds are briefly reviewed, with an emphasis on those more related to physical applications.
The concept of quasi generalized CR-lightlike was first introduced by the authors in [18]. In this paper, we focus on ascreen and co-screen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifolds of indefinite nearly $μ$-Sasakian manifold. We prove an existence theorem for minimal ascreen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifolds admitting a metric connection. Classification theorems on nearly parallel and auto-parallel distributions on a co-screen quasi generalized CR-lightlike submanifold are also given. Several examples are also constructed, where necessary, to illustrate the main ideas.
In this paper, we introduce and study a new class of CR-lightlike submanifold of an indefinite nearly Sasakian manifold, called Quasi Generalized Cauchy-Riemann (QGCR) lightlike submanifold. We give some characterization theorems for the existence of QGCR-lightlike submanifolds and finally derive necessary and sufficient conditions for some distributions to be integrable.
The present paper deals with the study of Chaki-pseudo parallel and Deszcz-pseudo parallel invariant submanifolds of SQ-Sasakian manifolds with respect to Levi-Civita connection and semisymmetric metric connection and obtain that these two classes are equivalent with a certain condition. Also the invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds of SQ-Sasakian manifolds with respect to Levi-Civita connection as well as semisymmetric metric connection whose metrics are Ricci solitons are studied.
In this paper we study a semi-Riemannian submersion from Lorentzian (para)almost contact manifolds and find necessary and sufficient conditions for the characteristic vector field to be vertical or horizontal. We also obtain decomposition theorems for an anti-invariant semi-Riemannian submersion from Lorentzian (para)Sasakian manifolds onto a Lorentzian manifold.
In the present paper we carry on a systematic study of 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds. In particular we prove that the three Reeb vector fields generate an involutive distribution determining a canonical totally geodesic and Riemannian foliation. Locally, the leaves of this foliation turn out to be Lie groups: either the orthogonal group or an abelian one. We show that 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds have a well-defined rank, obtaining a rank-based classification. Furthermore, we prove a splitting theorem for these manifolds assuming the integrability of one of the almost product structures. Finally, w…
In the present paper first, we define the conformal Sasakian manifolds and then we study geometry of invariant, anti-invariant and CR-submanifolds of conformal Sasakian manifolds.
In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions for spacelike and timelike curves in a conformally flat, quasi conformally flat and conformally symmetric 4-dimensional \textit{LP}-Sasakian manifold to be proper biharmonic. Also, we investigate proper biharmonic curves in the Lorentzian sphere $S^{4}_{1}$.
In this note, We proved that a compact Sasakian manifold $( M, ξ, η, Φ , g )$ with negative transverse holomorphic sectional curvature must have has a Sasakian structure $( ξ, η , Φ , g )$ with negative transverse Ricci curvature. Similarly, a compact Sasakian manifold with non-positive transverse holomorphic sectional curvature, then the negative first basic Chern class is transverse nef and we have the Miyaoka-Yau type inequality. When transverse holomorphic sectional curvature is quasi-negative, we obtain a Chern number inequality.
Exact solutions to an Einstein-Maxwell(E-D-M) system with an electric current are simple models of global cosmic magnetic phenomena in the universe. In this paper, we consider an E-D-M system with two chiral spinors $ ψ^\pm$ coupled with a gauge field $ A$ and an electromagnetic field $F=dA$. We construct a family of exact solutions to the E-D-M system on four-dimensional static Sasakian spacetimes. The electromagnetic field in the solutions is a contact magnetic field, and the chiral spinors are induced from Sasakian quasi-Killing spinors. We find closed universe models whose weak energy cond…
We provide models that are as close as possible to being formal for a large class of compact manifolds that admit a transversely Kaehler structure, including Vaisman and quasi-Sasakian manifolds. As an application we are able to classify the corresponding nilmanifolds.
We discuss Sasakian-Einstein geometry under a quasi-regularity assumption. It is shown that the space of all quasi-regular Sasakian-Einstein orbifolds has a natural multiplication on it. Furthermore, necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the `product' of two Sasakian-Einstein manifolds to be a smooth Sasakian-Einstein manifold. Using spectral sequence arguments we work out the cohomology ring in many cases of interest. This type of geometry has recently become of interest in the physics of supersymmetric conformal field theories.
In this paper, we show that the uniform L^4-bound of the transverse Ricci curvature along the Sasaki-Ricci flow on a compact quasi-regular transverse Fano Sasakian (2n+1)-manifold M. When M is dimension up to seven and the space of leaves of the characteristic foliation is well-formed, we first show that any solution of the Sasaki-Ricci flow converges in the Cheeger-Gromov sense to the unique singular orbifold Sasaki-Ricci soliton on the limit space which is a S^1-orbibundle over the unique singular Kaehler-Ricci soliton on a normal projective variety with codimension two orbifold singularitie…
In this paper the notion of quasi-isometry between two Riemannian manifolds has been introduced. This idea is also imposed to study quasi-isometry between two almost contact metric manifolds. Moving further, some curvature properties of two quasi-isometrically embedded almost contact metric manifolds, $N(k)-$contact metric manifolds and Sasakian manifolds are investigated. Next, an illustrative example of a quasi-isometry between two Sasakian structures is constructed. Finally, a relation between the scalar curvature and the quasi-isometric constants for two quasi-isometric Riemannian manifold…
We characterize biharmonic anti-invariant surfaces in $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds with non-zero constant mean curvature by means of the scalar curvature of the ambient space and the mean curvature. In addition, we give a method for constructing infinity many examples of biharmonic submanifolds in a certain $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifold. Moreover, we determine $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds which admit a certain kind of proper biharmonic foliation.
Smale-Barden manifolds are simply-connected closed 5-manifolds. It is an important and difficult question to decide when a Smale-Barden manifold admits a Sasakian or a K-contact structure. The known constructions of Sasakian and K-contact structures are obtained mainly by two techniques. These are either links (Boyer and Galicki), or semi-regular Seifert fibrations over smooth orbifolds (Kollár). Recently, the second named author of this article started the systematic development of quasi-regular Seifert fibrations, that is, over orbifolds which are not necessarily smooth. The present work is …
Let (M,η,ξ,Φ,g) be a compact quasi-regular Sasakian 5-manifold with finite cyclic quotient foliation singularities of type (1/r)(1,a). First, we derive the foliation minimal model program by applying the resolution of cyclic quotient foliation singularities. Secondly, based on the study of local model of resolution of foliation singularities, we prove the foliation canonical surgical contraction or the foliation extremal ray contraction under the Sasaki-Ricci flow. As a consequence, we prove a Sasaki analogue of analytic minimal model program with the Keahler-Ricci flow due to Song-Tian and So…
We extend the Donaldson-Corlette-Hitchin-Simpson correspondence between Higgs bundles and flat connections on compact Kähler manifolds to compact quasi-regular Sasakian manifolds. A particular consequence is the translation of restrictions on Kähler groups proved using the Donaldson-Corlette-Hitchin-Simpson correspondence to fundamental groups of compact Sasakian manifolds.
In this paper, we show that the uniform L^{4}-bound of the transverse Ricci curvature along the Sasaki-Ricci flow on a compact quasi-regular Sasakian (2n+1)-manifold M of general type. As an application, any solution of the normalized Sasaki-Ricci flow converges in the Cheeger-Gromov sense to the unique singular Sasaki η-Einstein metric on the transverse canonical model M_{can} of M if n is less than or equal to 3. In particular for n equal to 2, M_{can} is a S^{1}-orbibundle over the unique Keahler-Einstein orbifold surface (Z_{can},ω_{KE}) with finite point orbifold singularities. The floati…
Many authors have studied Ricci solitons and their analogs within the framework of (almost) contact geometry. In this article, we thoroughly study the $(m,ρ)$-quasi-Einstein structure on a contact metric manifold. First, we prove that if a $K$-contact or Sasakian manifold $M^{2n+1}$ admits a closed $(m,ρ)$-quasi-Einstein structure, then it is an Einstein manifold of constant scalar curvature $2n(2n+1)$, and for the particular case -- a non-Sasakian $(k,μ)$-contact structure -- it is locally isometric to the product of a Euclidean space $\RR^{n+1}$ and a sphere $S^n$ of constant curvature $4$. …
We investigate new Clairaut conditions for anti-invariant submersions from normal almost contact metric manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We prove that there is no Clairaut anti-invariant submersion admitting vertical Reeb vector field when the total manifold is Sasakian. Several illustrative examples are also included.
Using as an underlying manifold an alpha-Sasakian manifold we introduce warped product Kaehler manifolds. We prove that if the underlying manifold is an alpha-Sasakian space form, then the corresponding Kaehler manifold is of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution. Conversely, we prove that any Kaehler manifold of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvatures with special distribution locally has the structure of a warped product Kaehler manifold whose base is an alpha-Sasakian space form. Considering the scalar distribution generated by the scalar curvatur…
In this paper, we prove that there are no proper $CRS$ bi-warped product submanifolds other than contact CR-biwarped products in Sasakian manifolds. On the other hand, we prove that if $M$ is a $CRS$ bi-warped product of the form $M=N_T \times_{f_1}N^{n_{1}}_\perp\times_{f_2} N^{n_{2}}_θ$ in a cosymplectic manifold $\widetilde M$, then its second fundamental form $h$ satisfies the inequality: $$\|h\|^2\geq 2n_1\|\nabla(\ln f_1)\|^2+2n_2(1+2\cot^2θ)\|\nabla(\ln f_2)\|^2,$$ where $N_T,\, N^{n_{1}}_\perp$ and $N^{n_{2}}_θ$ are invariant, anti-invariant and proper pointwise slant submanifolds of $…
We study several questions on the existence of negative Sasakian structures on simply connected rational homology spheres and on Smale-Barden manifolds of the form $\#_k(S^2\times S^3)$. First, we prove that any simply connected rational homology sphere admitting positive Sasakian structures also admits a negative one. This result answers the question, posed by Boyer and Galicki in their book [BG], of determining which simply connected rational homology spheres admit both negative and positive Sasakian structures. Second, we prove that the connected sum $\#_k(S^2\times S^3)$ admits negative qu…

This paper is a continuation of our previous work, where eleven basic classes of almost paracontact metric manifolds with respect to the covariant derivative of the structure tensor field were obtained. First we decompose one of the eleven classes into two classes and the basic classes of the considered manifolds become twelve. Also, we determine the classes of $α$-para-Sasakian, $α$-para-Kenmotsu, normal, paracontact metric, para-Sasakian, K-paracontact and quasi-para-Sasakian manifolds. Moreover, we study 3-dimensional almost paracontact metric manifolds and show that they belong to four bas…
The Eisenhart problem of finding parallel tensors treated already in the framework of quasi-constant curvature manifolds in \cite{x:j} is reconsidered for the symmetric case and the result is interpreted in terms of Ricci solitons. If the generator of the manifold provides a Ricci soliton then this is i) expanding on para-Sasakian spaces with constant scalar curvature and vanishing $D$-concircular tensor field and ii) shrinking on a class of orientable quasi-umbilical hypersurfaces of a real projective space=elliptic space form.
The basic Dolbeault cohomology groups of a Sasakian manifold M are invariants of its characteristic foliation F (the orbit foliation of the Reeb flow). We show some fundamental properties of this cohomology, which are useful for its computation. In the first part of the article, we show that the basic Hodge numbers, the dimensions of the basic Dolbeault cohomology groups, only depend on the isomorphism class of the underlying CR structure. Equivalently, we show that the basic Hodge numbers are invariant under deformations of type I. This result reduces their computation to the quasi-regular ca…
We classify locally homogeneous quasi-Sasakian manifolds in dimension five that admit a parallel spinor $ψ$ of algebraic type $F \cdot ψ= 0$ with respect to the unique connection $\nabla$ preserving the quasi-Sasakian structure and with totally skew-symmetric torsion. We introduce a certain conformal transformation of almost contact metric manifolds and discuss a link between them and the dilation function in 5-dimensional string theory. We find natural conditions implying conformal invariances of parallel spinors. We present topological obstructions to the existence of parallel spinors in the…
