We investigate the positivity and extension of invertible sheaves on group homogeneous spaces over coherent bases. Bypassing the failure of standard limit arguments and the classical Weil--Cartier correspondence, we develop a valuative divisor theory on locally coherent schemes. This establishes an exact correspondence between effective valuative divisors and rank-one reflexive sheaves, yielding a non-Noetherian Ramanujam--Samuel theorem. To homologically control special fibre degenerations, we study morphisms of (N)-type; these govern the descent of generically trivial invertible sheaves and establish the theorems of the cube and the square without smoothness hypotheses. Utilizing the Picard-admissibility of group actions, we construct ample invertible sheaves explicitly from one-codimensional orbit boundaries. This achieves the rigid extension of generic polarizations to integral models over Prüfer bases, structurally generalizing Raynaud's classical proof of his quasi-projectivity theorems.
We find explicit free resolutions for the $\scr D$-modules ${\scr D} f^s$ and ${\scr D}[s] f^s/{\scr D}[s] f^{s+1}$, where $f$ is a reduced equation of a locally quasi-homogeneous free divisor. These results are based on the fact that every locally quasi-homogeneous free divisor is Koszul free, which is also proved in this paper
Let $X$ be an $n$-dimensional complex Fano manifolds $(n\geq 3)$. Assume that $X$ contains a divisor $A$, which is isomorphic to a rational homogeneous space with Picard number one, such that the conormal bundle $\mathscr{N}^*_{A/X}$ is ample over $A$. Building on the works of Tsukioka, Watanabe and Casagrande-Druel, we give a complete classification of such pairs $(X,A)$.
One deals with arbitrary reduced free divisors in a polynomial ring over a field of characteristic zero, by stressing the ideal theoretic and homological behavior of the corresponding singular locus. A particular emphasis is given to both weighted homogeneous and homogeneous polynomials, allowing to introduce new families of free divisors which do not come from hyperplane arrangements nor as explicit discriminants from singularity theory.
Generalizing cones over projective toric varieties, we present arbitrary toric varieties as quotients of quasiaffine toric varieties. Such quotient presentations correspond to groups of Weil divisors generating the topology. Groups comprising Cartier divisors define free quotients, whereas $\QQ$-Cartier divisors define geometric quotients. Each quotient presentation yields homogeneous coordinates. Using homogeneous coordinates, we express quasicoherent sheaves in terms of multigraded modules and describe the set of morphisms into a toric variety.
We give an explicit formula for the Hodge filtration on the $\mathscr{D}_X$-module $O_X(*Z)f^{1-α}$ associated to the effective $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor $D=α\cdot Z$, where $0<α\le1$ and $Z=(f=0)$ is an irreducible hypersurface defined by $f$, a weighted homogeneous polynomial with an isolated singularity at the origin. In particular this gives a formula for the Hodge ideals of $D$. We deduce a formula for the generating level of the Hodge filtration, as well as further properties of Hodge ideals in this setting. We also extend the main theorem to the case when $f$ is a germ of holomorphic functio…

Let $X$ be a nonsingular complex projective variety and $D$ a locally quasi-homogeneous free divisor in $X$. In this paper we study a numerical relation between the Chern class of the sheaf of logarithmic derivations on $X$ with respect to $D$, and the Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson class of the complement of $D$ in $X$. Our result confirms a conjectural formula for these classes, at least after push-forward to projective space; it proves the full form of the conjecture for locally quasi-homogeneous free divisors in $\mathbb P^n$. The result generalizes several previously known results. For example…
We compute the divisor class group and the Picard group of projective varieties with Hibi rings as homogeneous coordinate rings. These varieties are precisely the toric varieties associated to order polytopes. We use tools from the theory of toric varieties to get a description of the two groups which only depends on combinatorial properties of the underlying poset.
In this paper we study certain homogeneous spaces, which we call generalised affine Stiefel algebraic varieties. The main aim is to characterise the canonical divisor of generalised affine Stiefel algebraic varieties in terms of group representations. Affine Stiefel algebraic varieties and in particular $S^{n}$ are two special cases of the generalised affine Stiefel algebraic varieties.
The twisted homogeneous coordinate ring is one of the basic constructions of the noncommutative projective geometry of Artin, Van den Bergh, and others. Chan generalized this construction to the multi-homogeneous case, using a concept of right ampleness for a finite collection of invertible sheaves and automorphisms of a projective scheme. From this he derives that certain multi-homogeneous rings, such as tensor products of twisted homogeneous coordinate rings, are right noetherian. We show that right and left ampleness are equivalent and that there is a simple criterion for such ampleness. Th…
We describe two situations where adding the adjoint divisor to a divisor D with smooth normalization yields a free divisor. Both also involve stability or versality. In the first, D is the image of a corank one stable germ of a map from complex n-space to complex (n+1)-space, and is not free. In the second, D is the discriminant of a versal deformation of a weighted homogeneous function with isolated critical point (subject to certain numerical conditions on the weights). Here D itself is already free. We also prove an elementary result, inspired by these first two, from which we obtain a plet…
We study invariant divisors on the total spaces of the homogeneous deformations of rational complexity-one T-varieties constructed by Ilten and Vollmert. In particular, we identify a natural subgroup of the Picard group for any general fiber of such a deformation, which is canonically isomorphic to the Picard group of the special fiber. This isomorphism preserves Euler characteristic, intersection numbers, and the canonical class.
Let $X$ be a nonsingular variety defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $0$, and $D$ be a free divisor. We study the motivic Chern class of $D$ in the Grothendieck group of coherent sheaves $G_0(X)$, and another class defined by the sheaf of logarithmic differentials along $D$. We give explicit calculations of the difference of these two classes when: $D$ is a divisor on a nonsingular surface; $D$ is a hyperplane arrangement whose affine cone is free.
An infinite family of irreducible homogeneous free divisors in $K[x, y, z]$ is constructed. Indeed, we identify sets of monomials $X$ such that the general polynomial supported on $X$ is a free divisor.
We establish normal form theorems for a large class of singular flat connections on complex manifolds, including connections with logarithmic poles along weighted homogeneous Saito free divisors. As a result, we show that the moduli spaces of such connections admit the structure of algebraic quotient stacks. In order to prove these results, we introduce homogeneous Lie groupoids and study their representation theory. In this direction, we prove two main results: a Jordan-Chevalley decomposition theorem, and a linearization theorem. We give explicit normal forms for several examples of free div…
For arbitrary quantizable compact Kaehler manifolds, relations between the geometry given by the coherent states based on the manifold and the algebraic (projective) geometry realised via the coherent state mapping into projective space, are studied. Polar divisors, formulas relating the scalar products of coherent vectors on the manifold with the corresponding scalar products on projective space (Cauchy formulas), two-point, three-point and more generally cyclic m-point functions are discussed. The three-point function is related to the shape invariant of geodesic triangles in projective spac…
We prove a structure theorem for the Albanese maps of varieties with Q-linearly trivial log canonical divisors. Our start point is the action of a nonlinear algebraic group on a projective variety.
For a regular noetherian scheme $X$ with a divisor with strict normal crossings $D$ we prove that coherent sheaves satisfy descent w.r.t. the 'covering' consisting of the open parts in the various completions of $X$ along the components of $D$ and their intersections.
The article proves the Infinitesimal Torelli theorem for surfaces subject to the following conditions: 1) the canonical bundle of a surface is ample and generated by its global sections, 2)the geometric genus $p_g \geq 4$, 3) the irregularity $q=0$ . The main novelty is a realization of the Kodaira-Spencer classes lying in the kernel of the cohomology cup-product controlling the derivative of the period map of weight 2 in the category of the coherent sheaves of a surface.
In this paper we prove first a general theorem on semiorthogonal decompositions in derived categories of coherent sheaves for flat families over a smooth base. Based on the results of math.AG/0510670, we then show that the derived categories of coherent sheaves on flag varieties of classical type are generated by complete exceptional collections. Finally, we find complete exceptional collections in the derived categories of some homogeneous spaces of the symplectic groups of small rank.
In this paper we develop the "local part" of our local/global approach to globally valued fields (GVFs). The "global part", which relies on these results, is developed in a subsequent paper. We study virtual divisors on projective varieties defined over a valued field $K$, as well as sub-valuations on polynomial rings over $K$ (analogous to homogeneous polynomial ideals). We prove a Nullstellensatz-style duality between projective varieties equipped with virtual divisors (analogous to projective varieties over a plain field) and certain sub-valuations on polynomial rings over $K$ (analogous to …
Given an isolated, quasi-homogeneous singularity $X$ we prove that there is a group isomorphism between the group of rank one reflexive sheaves on $X$ and the free abelian group generated by $\mathbb{C}^*$-divisors, modulo linear equivalence. When $\dim(X)=2$ we reduce the problem of finding matrix factorizations of arbitrary reflexive $\mathcal{O}_X$-modules to the same question on rank one reflexive sheaves. We then enumerate the matrix factorizations of all rank one reflexive sheaves. As a consequence, we prove a conjecture of Etingof and Ginzburg on point modules.
In the noncommutative geometry of Artin, Van den Bergh, and others, the twisted homogeneous coordinate ring is one of the basic constructions. Such a ring is defined by a $σ$-ample divisor, where $σ$ is an automorphism of a projective scheme X. Many open questions regarding $σ$-ample divisors have remained. We derive a relatively simple necessary and sufficient condition for a divisor on X to be $σ$-ample. As a consequence, we show right and left $σ$-ampleness are equivalent and any associated noncommutative homogeneous coordinate ring must be noetherian and have finite, integral GK-dimension.…
Let $X$ be a smooth compact complex surface subject to the following conditions: (i) the canonical line bundle $\mathcal{O}_X(K_X) $ is very ample, (ii) the irregularity $q(X): = h^1(\mathcal{O}_X) =0$, (iii) $X$ contains no rational normal curves of degree $\leq (p_g-1)$, (iv) the multiplication map $m_2: Sym^2(H^0(\mathcal{O}_X(K_X))) \longrightarrow H^0 (\mathcal{O}_X (2K_X))$ is surjective. It is shown that the Infinitesimal Torelli holds for such $X$. Our proof is based on the study of the cup-product $$ H^1 (Θ_X) \longrightarrow (\mathcal{O}_X(K_X))^{\ast} \otimes H^1 (Ω_X) $$ where $Θ_X…
Reason for withdrawal: There is a serious mistake in the calculation of the divisor of the rational section used in the proof of Prop. 2.2.1., and with the correct value the argument does not work.
In this paper we define certain analogues of the volume of a divisor - called asymptotic cohomological functions - and investigate their behaviour on the Neron--Severi space. We establish that asymptotic cohomological functions are invariant with respect to the numerical equivalence of divisors, and that they give rise to continuous functions on the real Neron--Severi space. To illustrate the theory, we work out these invariants for abelian varieties, smooth surfaces, and certain homogeneous spaces.
Matrix divisors are introduced in the work by A.Weil (1938) which is considered as a starting point of the theory of holomorphic vector bundles on Riemann surfaces. In this theory matrix divisors play the role similar to the role of usual divisors in the theory of line bundles. Moreover, they provide explicit coordinates (Tyurin parameters) in an open subset of the moduli space of stable vector bundles. These coordinates turned out to be helpful in integration of soliton equations. We would like to gain attention to one more relationship between matrix divisors of vector G-bundles (where G is …
Starting point of the present work is a conjecture of F. Catanese which says that in the derived category of coherent sheaves on any rational homogeneous manifold G/P there should exist a complete strong exceptional poset and a bijection of the elements of the poset with the Schubert varieties in G/P such that the partial order on the poset is the order induced by the Bruhat-Chevalley order. The goal of this work is to provide further evidence for Catanese's conjecture, clarify some aspects of it and supply new techniques. In particular we prove a theorem on the derived categories of quadric b…
We study linear free divisors, that is, free divisors arising as discriminants in prehomogeneous vector spaces, and in particular in quiver representation spaces. We give a characterization of the prehomogeneous vector spaces containing such linear free divisors. For reductive linear free divisors, we prove that the numbers of geometric and representation theoretic irreducible components coincide. As a consequence, we find that a quiver can only give rise to a linear free divisor if it has no (oriented or unoriented) cycles. We also deduce that the linear free divisors which appear in Sato and…
We consider a complete nonsingular variety $X$ over $\bC$, having a normal crossing divisor $D$ such that the associated logarithmic tangent bundle is generated by its global sections. We show that $H^i\big(X, L^{-1} \otimes Ω_X^j(\log D)\big) = 0$ for any nef line bundle $L$ on $X$ and all $i < j - c$, where $c$ is an explicit function of $(X,D,L)$. This implies e.g. the vanishing of $H^i(X, L \otimes Ω_X^j)$ for $L$ ample and $i > j$, and gives back a vanishing theorem of Broer when $X$ is a flag variety.
Basepoint free cycles on the moduli space $\overline{M}_{0,n}$ of stable n-pointed rational curves, defined using Gromov-Witten invariants of smooth projective homogeneous spaces X are studied. Intersection formulas to find classes are given, with explicit examples for X a projective space, and X a smooth projective quadric hypersurface. When X is projective space, divisors are shown equivalent to conformal blocks divisors for type A at level one, giving maps from $\overline{M}_{0,n}$ to birational models constructed as GIT quotients, parametrizing configurations of weighted points supported o…
We discuss a technique to construct Ricci-flat hermitian metrics on complements of (some) anticanonical divisors of almost homogeneous manifolds and discuss when this metric is complete and Kähler. This construction has a strong interplay with invariance groups of the same dimension as the manifold acting with an open orbit. Lie groups of this type we call divisorial. As an application we can describe compact manifolds admitting a divisorially invariant Kähler metric on an open subset. Finally, we see a connection between the reducibility of the anticanonical divisor and the non-triviality of …
This is the second of series of papers studyig moduli spaces of a certain class of coherent sheaves, which we call stable perverse coherent sheaves, on the blow-up of a projective surface at a point. The followings are main results of this paper: a) We describe the wall-crossing between moduli spaces caused by twisting of the line bundle associated with the exceptional divisor. b) We give the formula for virtual Hodge numbers of moduli spaces of stable perverse coherent sheaves. Moreover we also give proofs of the followings which we observed in a special case in arXiv:0802.3120: c) The moduli…
Let G/Q be an homogeneous variety embedded in a projective space P thanks to an ample line bundle L. Take a projective space containing P and form the cone X over G/Q, we call this a cone over an homogeneous variety. Let $α$ a class of 1-cycle on X. In this article we describe the irreducible components of the scheme of morphisms of class $α$ from a rational curve to X. The situation depends on the line bundle L : if the projectivised tangent space to the vertex contains lines (i.e. if G/Q contains lines in P) then the irreducible components are described as in our paper math.AG/0407123 by the…
We combine work of Cox on the total coordinate ring of a toric variety and results of Eisenbud-Mustata-Stillman and Mustata on cohomology of toric and monomial ideals to obtain a formula for computing the Euler characteristic of a Weil divisor D on a complete simplicial toric variety in terms of graded pieces of the Cox ring and Stanley-Reisner ring. The main point is to use Alexander duality to pass from the toric irrelevant ideal, which appears in the computation of the Euler characteristic of D, to the Stanley-Reisner ideal of the fan, which is used in defining the Chow ring. The formula al…
We study open equivariant projective embeddings of homogeneous spaces such that the complement of the open orbit does not contain divisors. Criterions of existence of such an embedding are considered and finiteness of isomorphism classes of embeddings for a given homogeneous space is proved. Any embedding with small boundary is realized as a GIT-quotient associated with a linearization of the trivial line bundle on the space of the canonical embedding. The generalized Cox's construction and the theory of bunched rings allow us to describe basic geometric properties of embeddings with small bou…
We prove Gieseker conjecture for an homogeneous space $X$, saying that if $X$ has no non-trivial tame coverings then it has no non-trivial regular singular $\mathscr{O}_X$-coherent $\mathscr{D}_{X/k}$-modules. In order to do so we prove a Künneth formula for the regular singular stratified fundamental group and a base change for Gauss-Manin stratifications in the non-proper case.
Let G be a connected reductive group. Recall that a G-variety X is called spherical if X is normal and a Borel subgroup of G has an open orbit on X. To a spherical homogeneous G-space one assigns certain combinatorial invariants: the weight lattice, the valuation cone and the set of B-stable prime divisors. We prove that two spherical homogeneous spaces with the same combinatorial invariants are equivariantly isomorphic. Further, we show how to recover the group of G-equivariant automorphisms from these invariants.
A reduced divisor on a nonsingular variety defines the sheaf of logarithmic 1-forms. We introduce a certain coherent sheaf whose double dual coincides with this sheaf. It has some nice properties, for example, the residue exact sequence still holds even when the divisor is singular, and also it has a simple locally free resolution. We specialize to the case when the divisor is an arrangement of hyperplanes in projective space, and relate the properties of stability of the sheaf with the combinatorics of the arrangement. We also extend a Torelli type theorem to non generic arrangements which al…
Let $M_{d}(¶^r)$ be the space of $(r+1)$-tuples $(f_0,...,f_r)$ modulo homothety, where $f_0,...,f_r$ are homogeneous polynomials of degree $d$ in two variables. Let $M_{d}^{\circ}(¶^r)$ be the open subset of $M_{d}(¶^r)$ such that $f_0,...,f_r$ have no common zeros. Then $M_{d}^{\circ}(¶^r)$ parametrizes the space of holomorphic maps of degree $d$ from $¶^1$ into $¶^r$. In general the boundary divisor $M_{d}(¶^r) \setminus M_{d}^{\circ}(¶^r)$ is not normal crossing. In this paper we will give a natural stratification of this boundary and show that we can process an iterated blow-ups along the…
Let $X$ be a complex analytic manifold, $D\subset X$ a free divisor with jacobian ideal of linear type (e.g. a locally quasi-homogeneous free divisor), $j: U=X-D \to X$ the corresponding open inclusion, $E$ an integrable logarithmic connection with respect to $D$ and $L$ the local system of the horizontal sections of $E$ on $U$. In this paper we prove that the canonical morphisms between the logarithmic de Rham complex of $E(kD)$ and $R j_* L$ (resp. the logarithmic de Rham complex of $E(-kD)$ and $j_!L$) are isomorphisms in the derived category of sheaves of complex vector spaces for $k\gg 0$…
Winkelmann considered compact complex manifolds $X$ equipped with a reduced effective normal crossing divisor $D\, \subset\, X$ such that the logarithmic tangent bundle $TX(-\log D)$ is holomorphically trivial. He characterized them as pairs $(X,\, D)$ admitting a holomorphic action of a complex Lie group $\mathbb G$ satisfying certain conditions \cite{Wi1}, \cite{Wi2}; this $\mathbb G$ is the connected component, containing the identity element, of the group of holomorphic automorphisms of $X$ that preserve $D$. We characterize the homogeneous holomorphic principal $H$--bundles over $X$, wher…
A 'prehomogeneous vector space' is a rational representation $ρ:G\to\mathrm{GL}(V)$ of a connected complex linear algebraic group $G$ that has a Zariski open orbit $Ω\subset V$. Mikio Sato showed that the hypersurface components of $D:=V\setminus Ω$ are related to the rational characters $H\to\mathrm{GL}(\mathbb{C})$ of $H$, an algebraic abelian quotient of $G$. Mimicking this work, we investigate the 'additive functions' of $H$, the homomorphisms $Φ:H\to (\mathbb{C},+)$. Each such $Φ$ is related to an 'additive relative invariant', a rational function $h$ on $V$ such that $h\circ ρ(g)-h=Φ(g)$…
Let $G$ be a reductive linear algebraic group. The simplest example of a projective homogeneous $G$-variety in characteristic $p$, not isomorphic to a flag variety, is the divisor $x_0 y_0^p+x_1 y_1^p+x_2 y_2^p=0$ in $P^2\times P^2$, which is $SL_3$ modulo a non-reduced stabilizer containing the upper triangular matrices. In this paper embeddings of projective homogeneous spaces viewed as $G/H$, where $H$ is any subgroup scheme containing a Borel subgroup, are studied. We prove that $G/H$ can be identified with the orbit of the highest weight line in the projective space over the simple $G$-re…
In this paper we establish an equivalence between the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W and the triangulated category of singularities of the fiber of W over zero. The main result is a theorem that shows that the graded triangulated category of singularities of the cone over a projective variety is connected via a fully faithful functor to the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on the base of the cone. This implies that the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W …
Let $A$ be an abelian variety over a field. The homogeneous (or translation-invariant) vector bundles over $A$ form an abelian category ${\rm HVec}_A$; the Fourier-Mukai transform yields an equivalence of ${\rm HVec}_A$ with the category of coherent sheaves with finite support on the dual abelian variety. In this paper, we develop an alternative approach to homogeneous vector bundles, based on the equivalence of ${\rm HVec}_A$ with the category of finite-dimensional representations of a commutative affine group scheme (the "affine fundamental group" of $A$). This displays remarkable analogies …
