We address the problem of constructing a non-equilibrium stationary state for a one-dimensional stochastic Klein-Gordon wave equation with non-linearity, using perturbation theory. The linear theory is reviewed, but with the linear equations of motion including an additional potential term which emerges in the renormalization of the perturbation expansion for the state corresponding to the non-linear equations of motion. The potential is the solution to a fixed point equation. Low order terms in the expansion for the two-point function are determined.
We consider the zero-range process with long jumps and in contact with infinitely many reservoirs in its non-equilibrium stationary state. We derive the hydrostatic limit and the Fick's law, which are a consequence of a relationship between the exclusion process and the zero-range process. We also obtain the large deviation principle for the empirical density, i.e. we compute the non-equilibrium free energy.
We study multicomponent coagulation via the Smoluchowski coagulation equation under non-equilibrium stationary conditions induced by a source of small clusters. The coagulation kernel can be very general, merely satisfying certain power law asymptotic bounds in terms of the total number of monomers in a cluster. The bounds are characterized by two parameters and we extend previous results for one-component systems to classify the parameter values for which the above stationary solutions do or do not exist. Moreover, we also obtain criteria for the existence or non-existence of solutions which …
In this paper, classical small perturbations against a stationary solution of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with the general form of nonlinearity are examined. It is shown that in order to obtain correct (in particular, conserved over time) nonzero expressions for the basic integrals of motion of a perturbation even in the quadratic order in the expansion parameter, it is necessary to consider nonlinear equations of motion for the perturbations. It is also shown that, despite the nonlinearity of the perturbations, the additivity property is valid for the integrals of motion of different n…
It is shown that a constant external magnetic field, generally speaking, is not able to prevent breaking (loss of smoothness) of relativistic plasma oscillations, even if they are arbitrarily small perturbations of the zero steady-state. This result sharply differs from the non-relativistic case, for which it is possible to suppress the breaking of oscillations at any initial deviations by increasing the intensity of the magnetic field \cite {RCharx}. Nevertheless, even in the relativistic case, there are subclasses of solutions corresponding to solutions that are globally smooth in time.
In this paper, we study perturbations of the $d$-dimensional Ising model for $d\geq 2$, including long range ones to which the Pirogov-Sinai theory is not applicable. We show that the uniqueness of the equilibrium state of the Ising model at high temperature and the coexistence of equilibrium states at low temperature are preserved by spin-flip symmetric perturbations.
We consider the multicomponent Smoluchowski coagulation equation under non-equilibrium conditions induced either by a source term or via a constant flux constraint. We prove that the corresponding stationary non-equilibrium solutions have a universal localization property. More precisely, we show that these solutions asymptotically localize into a direction determined by the source or by a flux constraint: the ratio between monomers of a given type to the total number of monomers in the cluster becomes ever closer to a predetermined ratio as the cluster size is increased. The assumptions on th…
We study coagulation equations under non-equilibrium conditions which are induced by the addition of a source term for small cluster sizes. We consider both discrete and continuous coagulation equations, and allow for a large class of coagulation rate kernels, with the main restriction being boundedness from above and below by certain weight functions. The weight functions depend on two power law parameters, and the assumptions cover, in particular, the commonly used free molecular and diffusion limited aggregation coagulation kernels. Our main result shows that the two weight function paramet…
