We show that the fibrant objects in the minimal model structure on the category of simplicial sets are characterized by a lifting condition with respect to maps which resemble the horn inclusions that define Kan complexes.
We prove the existence of a model structure on the category of stratified simplicial sets whose fibrant objects are precisely $n$-complicial sets, which are a proposed model for $(\infty,n)$-categories, based on previous work of Verity and Riehl. We then construct a Quillen equivalent model based on simplicial presheaves over a category that can facilitate the comparison with other established models.
We construct a model structure on the category of cubical sets with connections whose cofibrations are the monomorphisms and whose fibrant objects are defined by the right lifting property with respect to inner open boxes, the cubical analogue of inner horns. We show that this model structure is Quillen equivalent to the Joyal model structure on simplicial sets via the triangulation functor. As an application, we show that cubical quasicategories admit a convenient notion of a mapping space, which we use to characterize the weak equivalences between fibrant objects in our model structure as DK…
For each pair of simplicial sets $A$ and $B$, the category $\mathbf{Cyl}(A,B)$ of cylinders (also called correspondences) from $A$ to $B$ admits a model structure induced from Joyal's model structure for quasi-categories. In this paper, we prove Joyal's conjecture that a cylinder $X \in \mathbf{Cyl}(A,B)$ is fibrant if and only if the canonical morphism $X \longrightarrow A \star B$ is an inner fibration, and that a morphism between fibrant cylinders in $\mathbf{Cyl}(A,B)$ is a fibration if and only if it is an inner fibration. We use this result to give a new proof of a characterisation of co…
We define a notion of groupoidal 2-quasi-categories and show that they are the fibrant objects of a model structure on the category of $Θ_2$-sets. We show that this model category is Quillen equivalent to the Kan-Quillen model category of simplicial sets and that 2-truncated groupoidal 2-quasi-categories are models for homotopy 2-types.
We introduce, for \(\C\) a regular Cartesian Reedy category a model category whose fibrant objects are an analogue of quasicategories enriched in simplicial presheaves on \(C\). We then develop a coherent realization and nerve for this model structure and demonstrate using an enriched version of the necklaces of Dugger and Spivak that our model category is Quillen-equivalent to the category of categories enriched in simplicial presheaves on \(\C\). We then show that for any Cartesian-closed left-Bousfield localization of the category of simplicial presheaves on \(\C\), the coherent nerve and r…
In this thesis we define the notion of a locally stratified space. Locally stratified spaces are particular kinds of streams and d-spaces which are locally modelled on stratified spaces. We construct a locally presentable and cartesian closed category of locally stratified spaces that admits an adjunction with the category of simplicial sets. Moreover, we show that the full subcategory spanned by locally stratified spaces whose associated simplicial set is a quasicategory has the structure of a category with fibrant objects. We define the fundamental category of a locally stratified space and …
For a small category $\mathcal{D}$ we define fibrations of simplicial presheaves on the category $\mathcal{D}\timesΔ$, which we call localized $\mathcal{D}$-left fibration. We show these fibrations can be seen as fibrant objects in a model structure, the localized $\mathcal{D}$-covariant model structure, that is Quillen equivalent to a category of functors valued in simplicial presheaves on $\mathcal{D}$, where the Quillen equivalence is given via a generalization of the Grothendieck construction. We use our understanding of this construction to give a detailed characterization of fibrations a…

We present a unified formalism for structure discovery of causal models and predictive state representation (PSR) models in reinforcement learning (RL) using higher-order category theory. Specifically, we model structure discovery in both settings using simplicial objects, contravariant functors from the category of ordinal numbers into any category. Fragments of causal models that are equivalent under conditional independence -- defined as causal horns -- as well as subsequences of potential tests in a predictive state representation -- defined as predictive horns -- are both special cases of…
As observed recently by various people the topos $\mathbf{sSet}$ of simplicial sets appears as essential subtopos of a topos $\mathbf{cSet}$ of cubical sets, namely presheaves over the category $\mathbf{FL}$ of finite lattices and monotone maps between them. The latter is a variant of the cubical model of type theory due to Cohen et al. for the purpose of providing a model for a variant of type theory which validates Voevodsky's Univalence Axiom and has computational meaning. Our contribution consists in constructing in $\mathbf{cSet}$ a fibrant univalent universe for those types that are shea…
We give a fully constructive proof that there is a proper cartesian $ω$-combinatorial model structure on the category of simplicial sets, whose generating cofibrations and trivial cofibrations are the usual boundary inclusion and horn inclusion. The main difference with classical mathematics is that constructively not all monomorphisms are cofibrations (only those satisfying some decidability conditions) and not every object is cofibrant. The proof relies on three main ingredients: First, our construction of a weak model categories on simplicial sets, then the interplay with the semi-simplicia…
