The RSK correspondence is a bijection between permutations and pairs of standard Young tableaux with identical shape, where the tableaux are commonly denoted $P$ (insertion) and $Q$ (recording). It has been an open problem to demonstrate $$ |\{w \in \mathfrak{S}_n | \, Q(w) = Q(w^r)\}| = \begin{cases}
\displaystyle 2^{\frac{n-1}{2}}{n-1 \choose \frac{n-1}{2}} & n \text{ odd} \newline
\displaystyle 0 & n \text{ even} \end{cases}, $$ where $w^r$ is the reverse permutation of $w$. First we show that for each $w$ where $Q(w) = Q(w^r)$ the recording tableau $Q(w)$ has a symmetric hook shape and satisfies a certain simple property. From these two results, we succeed in proving the desired identity.
We continue work begun in \cite{ptab} which introduced \emph{perforated tableaux} as a combinatorial model for crystals of type $A_{n-1}$, emphasizing connections to the classical Robinson-Schensted-Knuth (RSK) correspondence and Lusztig involutions, and, more generally, exploring the role of insertion schemes in the analysis of crystal graphs. An essential feature of our work is the role of \emph{dual} crystals (\cite{GerberLecouvey,vanLeeuwen}) from which we obtain new results within and beyond the classic RSK theory.
For each fully commutative permutation, we construct a "boolean core," which is the maximal boolean permutation in its principal order ideal under the right weak order. We partition the set of fully commutative permutations into the recently defined crowded and uncrowded elements, distinguished by whether or not their RSK insertion tableaux satisfy a sparsity condition. We show that a fully commutative element is uncrowded exactly when it shares the RSK insertion tableau with its boolean core. We present the dynamics of the right weak order on fully commutative permutations, with particular in…
We investigate the dynamics of the well-known RSK bijection on permutations when iterated on various reading words of the recording tableau. In the setting of the ordinary (row) reading word, we show that there is exactly one fixed point per partition shape, and that it is always reached within two steps from any starting permutation. We also consider the modified dynamical systems formed by iterating RSK on the column reading word and the reversed reading word of the recording tableau. We show that the column reading word gives similar dynamics to the row reading word. On the other hand, for …
We characterize the class of cycle decompositions that can achieve all Young tableau shapes (except the trivial ones with a single row or a single column) under the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth (RSK) correspondence, a property that we call RSK-completeness. We prove that for even $n$, cyclic permutations comprise the only fixed cycle decomposition that is RSK-complete. For odd $n$, cyclic permutations and almost cyclic permutations which have a cycle of length $n-1$ are the only RSK-complete cycle decompositions.
Robinson-Schensted-Knuth algorithm, jeu de taquin and Kerov-Vershik measures on infinite tableaux
本文研究了无限情形下的Robinson-Schensted-Knuth算法(RSK)和Schützenberger的jeu de taquin算法。我们证明了RSK中的记录表定义了以下两个动力系统的同构:(i)一个i.i.d.随机字母配备Bernoulli移位,和(ii)一个随机的无限Young tableau(与Vershik-Kerov措施,对应于一些托马斯字符的无限对称群的分布)配备jeu de taquin变换。作为特例,我们恢复了非碰撞随机游动和多维Pitman变换的结果.
Iterating the skew RSK correspondence discovered by Sagan and Stanley in the late '80s, we define a deterministic dynamics on the space of pairs of skew Young tableaux $(P,Q)$. We find that this skew RSK dynamics displays conservation laws which, in the picture of Viennot's shadow line construction, identify generalizations of Greene invariants. The introduction of a novel realization of $0$-th Kashiwara operators reveals that the skew RSK dynamics possesses symmetries induced by an affine bicrystal structure, which, combined with connectedness properties of Demazure crystals, leads to its lin…
We consider two examples of a fully decodable combinatorial encoding of Bernoulli schemes: the encoding via Weyl simplices and the much more complicated encoding via the RSK (Robinson--Schensted--Knuth) correspondence. In the first case, the decodability is a quite simple fact, while in the second case, this is a nontrivial result obtained by D.~Romik and P.~Śniady and based on the papers~ \cite{KV}, \cite{VK}, and others. We comment on the proofs from the viewpoint of the theory of measurable partitions; another proof, using representation theory and generalized Schur--Weyl duality, will be p…

Pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams for vexillary permutations are each known to be in bijection with certain semistandard tableaux via maps due to Lenart and Weigandt, respectively. Recently, Gao and Huang have defined a bijection between the former two sets. In this note we show for vexillary permutations that the Gao-Huang bijection preserves the associated tableaux, giving a new proof of Lenart's result. Our methods extend to give a recording tableau for any bumpless pipe dream.
The set of orbits of $GL(V)$ in $Fl(V)\times Fl(V)\times V$ is finite, and is parametrized by the set of certain decorated permutations in a work of Solomon. We describe a Mirabolic RSK correspondence (bijective) between this set of decorated permutations and the set of triples: a pair of standard Young tableaux, and an extra partition. It gives rise to a partition of the set of orbits into combinatorial cells. We prove that the same partition is given by the type of a general conormal vector to an orbit. We conjecture that the same partition is given by the bimodule Kazhdan-Lusztig cells in t…
