We use the technique of invariant frames to study a left invariant spray structure on a Lie group, and calculate its S-curvature and Riemann curvature, which generalizes the corresponding formulae in homogeneous Finsler geometry. Using the canonical bi-invariant Berwald spray structure as the reference, any left invariant spray structure can be associated with a spray vector field on the Lie algebra. We find the correspondence between geodesics for a left invariant spray structure and the inverse integral curves of its spray vector field. As an application for this correspondence, we provide an alternative proof for Landsberg Conjecture in the case of homogeneous Finsler surfaces.
In this paper, we study the left invariant spray geometry on a connected Lie group. Using the technique of invariant frames, we find the ordinary differential equations on the Lie algebra describing for a left invariant spray structure the linearly parallel translations along a geodesic and the nonlinearly parallel translations along a smooth curve. In these equations, the connection operator plays an important role. Using linearly parallel translations, we provide alternative interpretations or proofs for some homogeneous curvature formulae. Concerning the nonlinearly ones, we propose two que…
We introduce the submersion between two spray structures and propose the submersion technique in spray geometry. Using this technique, as well as global invariant frames on a Lie group, we setup the general theoretical framework for homogeneous spray geometry. We define the spray vector field $η$ and the connection operator $N$ for a homogeneous spray manifold $(G/H,\mathbf{G})$ with a linear decomposition $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{h}+\mathfrak{m}$. These notions generalize their counter parts in homogeneous Finsler geometry. We prove the correspondence between $\mathbf{G}$ and $η$ when the give…
In this paper, we study left invariant conic Finsler metrics on the 2-dimensional non-Abelian Lie group $G$ with nowhere vanishing spray vector fields, and classify those satisfying the constant curvature condition, the Landsberg condition or the Berwald condition respectively. We prove that any left invariant conic Landsberg metric on $G$ must be Berwald. This discovery enable us to propose a homogeneous conic Landsberg Conjecture, which guesses that every homogeneous conic Landsberg metric is Berwald, and prove the 2-dimensional case for it.
We show that any left invariant metric with harmonic curvature on a solvable Lie group is Ricci-parallel. We show the same result for any Lie group of dimension $\leq$ 6.
In this paper, we classify Left-invariant Ricci collineations associated to canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups.
We find the index of symmetry for all solvable three-dimensional Lie groups with a left-invariant metric. When combined with the work of Reggiani on unimodular three-dimensional Lie groups, the index of symmetry is then known for all three-dimensional Lie groups with a left-invariant metric. Similar to the unimodular case, for every solvable three-dimensional Lie algebra there is at least one left-invariant metric for which the index of symmetry is positive. Also, the index is never equal to 2.
We find three-dimensional subspaces of four-dimensional connected Lie algebras, generating these algebras, and abnormal extremals on connected Lie groups with these Lie algebras and with left-invariant sub-Finsler quasimetrics defined by seminorms on such subspaces. In terms of the structure constants of Lie algebras and dual seminorms, we establish a criterion for the strong abnormality of these extremals.
We give a complete classification of left invariant generalized complex structures of type 1 on four dimensional simply connected Lie groups and we compute for each class its invariant generalized Dolbeault cohomology, its invariant generalized Bott-Chern cohomology and its invariant generalized Aeppli cohomology. We classify also left invariant generalized Kähler structures on four dimensional simply connected Lie groups.
Abnormal extremals on four-dimensional connected Lie groups with left-invariant sub-Finsler quasimetric, defined by a seminorm on a two-dimensional subspace of the Lie algebra generating the algebra, are found. In terms of structure constant of Lie algebra and supporting Minkowski function for the unit ball of seminorm on two-dimensional subspace of Lie algebra, defining a quasimetric, we establish a criterion for strict abnormality of these extremals.
In this paper we determine the moduli space, up to isometric automorphism, of left-invariant metrics on a $6$-dimensional Lie group $H$, such that its Lie algebra $\mathfrak{h}$ admits a complex structure and has first Betti number equal to four. We also investigate which of these metrics are Hermitian and classify the corresponding complex structures.
It is known that a connected and simply-connected Lie group admits only one left-invariant Riemannian metric up to scaling and isometry if and only if it is isomorphic to the Euclidean space, the Lie group of the real hyperbolic space, or the direct product of the three dimensional Heisenberg group and the Euclidean space of dimension $n-3$. In this paper, we give a classification of left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics of an arbitrary signature for the third Lie groups with $n \geq 4$ up to scaling and automorphisms. This completes the classifications of left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian m…
For each connected and simply connected three-dimensional non-unimodular Lie group, we classify the left invariant Lorentzian metrics up to automorphism, and study the extent to which curvature can be altered by a change of metric. Thereby we obtain the Ricci operator, the scalar curvature, and the sectional curvatures as functions of left invariant Lorentzian metrics on the three-dimensional non-unimodular Lie groups. Our study is a continuation and extension of the previous studies done in \cite{HL2009_MN} for Riemannian metrics on three-dimensional Lie groups and in \cite{BC} for Lorentzian…
On the ground of origins of the theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, their (co)adjoint representations, and the Pontryagin maximum principle for the time-optimal problem are given an independent foundation for methods of geodesic vector field to search for normal geodesics of left-invariant (sub-)Finsler metrics on Lie groups and to look for the corresponding locally optimal controls in (sub-)Riemannian case, as well as some their applications.
This paper presents a derivation of the parallel transport equation expressed in the Lie algebra of a Lie group endowed with a left-invariant metric. The use of this equation is exemplified on the group of rigid body motions SE(3), using basic numerical integration schemes, and compared to the pole ladder algorithm. This results in a stable and efficient implementation of parallel transport. The implementation leverages the python package geomstats and is available online.
In this paper, we consider left-invariant para-complex structures on six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups. A complete list of six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups that admit para-Kähler structures is obtained, explicit expressions for para-complex structures are found, and curvature properties of associated para-Kähler metrics are investigated. It is shown that paracomplex structures are nilpotent and the corresponding para-Kähler metrics are Ricci-flat.
A first classification of para-Kähler structures on four-dimensional Lie algebras was obtained by D. Calvaruzo in 2015. In this paper, we propose another classification based on the classification of symplectic Lie algebras. For each four-dimensional symplectic Lie algebra, compatible para-complex structures and the corresponding pseudo-Riemannian metrics are found in explicit form. This leads to the classification of Sasaki para-contact structures on five-dimensional contact Lie algebras with a nontrivial center.
$k$-symplectic manifolds are a convenient framework to study classical field theories and they are a generalization of polarized symplectic manifolds. This paper focus on the existence and the properties of left invariant $k$-symplectic structures on Lie groups having a bi-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric. We show that compact semi-simple Lie groups and a large class of Lie groups having a bi-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric does not carry any left invariant $k$-symplectic structure. This class contains the oscillator Lie groups which are the only solvable non abelian Lie groups having a b…
There are five six-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups G, which do not admit neither symplectic, nor complex structures and, therefore, can be neither almost pseudo-Kahler, nor almost Hermitian. In this work, these Lie groups are being studied. The aim of the paper is to define new left-invariant geometric structures on the Lie groups under consideration that compensate, in some sense, the absence of symplectic and complex structures. New examples of multiparametric families of metrics of signature (3,3) and almost para-complex pseudo-Riemannian half-flat structures on six-dimensional nilmanifold…
There are five unimodular simply connected three dimensional unimodular non abelian Lie groups: the nilpotent Lie group $\mathrm{Nil}$, the special unitary group $\mathrm{SU}(2)$, the universal covering group $\widetilde{\mathrm{PSL}}(2,\mathbb{R})$ of the special linear group, the solvable Lie group $\mathrm{Sol}$ and the universal covering group $\widetilde{\mathrm{E}_0}(2)$ of the connected component of the Euclidean group. For each $G$ among these Lie groups, we give explicitly the list of all Lorentzian left invariant metrics on $G$, up to un automorphism of $G$. Moreover, for any Lorentz…
It has been known that there exist exactly three left-invariant Lorentzian metrics up to scaling and automorphisms on the three dimensional Heisenberg group. In this paper, we classify left-invariant Lorentzian metrics on the direct product of three dimensional Heisenberg group and the Euclidean space of dimension $n-3$ with $n \geq 4$, and prove that there exist exactly six such metrics on this Lie group up to scaling and automorphisms. Moreover we show that only one of them is flat, and the other five metrics are Ricci solitons but not Einstein. We also characterize this flat metric as the u…
We construct left invariant special Kähler structures on the cotangent bundle of a flat pseudo-Riemannian Lie group. We introduce the twisted cartesian product of two special Kähler Lie algebras according to two linear representations by infinitesimal Kähler transformations. We also exhibit a double extension process of a special Kähler Lie algebra which allows us to get all simply connected special Kähler Lie groups with bi-invariant symplectic connections. All Lie groups constructed by performing this double extension process can be identified with a subgroup of symplectic (or Kähler) affine…
Let $(G,Ω)$ be a symplectic Lie group, i.e, a Lie group endowed with a left invariant symplectic form. If $\G$ is the Lie algebra of $G$ then we call $(\G,ω=\Om(e))$ a symplectic Lie algebra. The product $\bullet$ on $\G$ defined by $3ω\left(x\bullet y,z\right)=ω\left([x,y],z\right)+ω\left([x,z],y\right)$ extends to a left invariant connection $\na$ on $G$ which is torsion free and symplectic ($\na\Om=0)$. When $\na$ has vanishing curvature, we call $(G,Ω)$ a flat symplectic Lie group and $(\G,\om)$ a flat symplectic Lie algebra. In this paper, we study flat symplectic Lie groups. We start by …
