Using quantization techniques, we show that the $δ$-invariant of Fujita-Odaka coincides with the optimal exponent in certain Moser-Trudinger type inequality. Consequently we obtain a uniform Yau-Tian-Donaldson theorem for the existence of twisted Kähler-Einstein metrics with arbitrary polarizations. Our approach mainly uses pluripotential theory, which does not involve Cheeger-Colding-Tian theory or the non-Archimedean language. A new computable criterion for the existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics is also given.
The aim of this paper is to solve a uniform version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for polarized toric manifolds. Also, we show a combinatorial sufficient condition for uniform relative K-polystability.
We prove the Yau-Tian-Donaldson's conjecture for any $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety that has a log smooth resolution of singularities such that the discrepancies of all exceptional divisors are non-positive. In other words, if such a Fano variety is K-polystable, then it admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. This extends the previous result for smooth Fano varieties to this class of singular $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties, which include those admitting crepant log resolutions.
We give a variational proof of a version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for twisted Kähler-Einstein currents, and use this to express the greatest (twisted) Ricci lower bound in terms of a purely algebro-geometric stability threshold. Our approach does not involve the continuity method or Cheeger-Colding-Tian theory, and uses instead pluripotential theory and valuations. Along the way, we study the relationship between geodesic rays and non-Archimedean metrics.
We prove the following result: if a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety is uniformly K-stable, then it admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. We achieve this by modifying Berman-Boucksom-Jonsson's strategy with appropriate perturbative arguments and non-Archimedean estimates. The idea of using the perturbation is motivated by our previous paper.
We survey some recent developments in the direction of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture, which relates the existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics to the algebro-geometric notion of K-stability. The emphasis is put on the use of pluripotential theory and the interpretation of K-stability in terms of non-Archimedean geometry.
Let $(X, D)$ be a log variety with an effective holomorphic torus action, and $Θ$ be a closed positive $(1,1)$-current. For any smooth positive function $g$ defined on the moment polytope of the torus action, we study the Monge-Ampère equations that correspond to generalized and twisted Kähler-Ricci $g$-solitons. We prove a version of Yau-Tian-Donaldson (YTD) conjecture for these general equations, showing that the existence of solutions is always equivalent to an equivariantly uniform $Θ$-twisted $g$-Ding-stability. When $Θ$ is a current associated to a torus invariant linear system, we furth…
In this note, using the recent compactness results of Tian and Chen-Donaldson-Sun, we prove the K-semistable version of Yau-Tian-Donaldson correspondence for Fano manifolds.
In this paper, assuming that a polarized algebraic manifold $(X,L)$ is strongly K-stable, we shall show that the polarization class $c_1(L)$ admits a constant scalar curvature Kaehler metric.
Given a complex 4-fold $X$ with an (Calabi-Yau 3-fold) anti-canonical divisor $Y$, we study relative Donaldson-Thomas invariants for this pair, which are elements in the Donaldson-Thomas cohomologies of $Y$. We also discuss gluing formulas which relate relative invariants and $DT_{4}$ invariants for Calabi-Yau 4-folds.
Let $X$ be a complex four-dimensional compact Calabi-Yau manifold equipped with a Kähler form $ω$ and a holomorphic four-form $Ω$. Under certain assumptions, we define Donaldson-Thomas type deformation invariants by studying the moduli space of the solutions of Donaldson-Thomas equations on the given Calabi-Yau manifold. We also study sheaves counting on local Calabi-Yau four-folds. We relate the sheaves countings over $K_{Y}$ with the Donaldson-Thomas invariants for the associated compact three-fold $Y$. In some very special cases, we prove the DT/GW correspondence for $X$. Finally, we comput…
Let $X$ be a compact complex Calabi-Yau 4-fold. Under certain assumptions, we define Donaldson-Thomas type deformation invariants ($DT_{4}$ invariants) by studying moduli spaces of solutions to the Donaldson-Thomas equations on $X$. We also study sheaves counting problems on local Calabi-Yau 4-folds. We relate $DT_{4}$ invariants of $K_{Y}$ to the Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the associated Fano 3-fold $Y$. When the Calabi-Yau 4-fold is toric, we adapt the virtual localization formula to define the corresponding equivariant $DT_{4}$ invariants. We also discuss the non-commutative version of …
We derive an explicit formula for the asymptotic slope of the Aubin-Yau functional along a Bergman geodesic on a surface of complex dimension 2, extending the work of Phong-Sturm on Riemann surfaces. This is equivalent to an explicit calculation of the Donaldson-Futaki invariant of a test configuration. The slope is given as a rational linear combination of period integrals of rational functions that sum to a rational number. The result gives a way to check directly whether a two dimensional projective variety is K-stable.

We established a Yau--Tian--Donaldson type correspondence, expressed in terms of a single Delzant polytope, concerning the existence of extremal Kähler metrics on a large class of toric fibrations, introduced by Apostolov--Calderbank--Gauduchon--Tonnesen-Friedman and called semi-simple principal toric fibrations. We use that an extremal metric on the total space corresponds to a weighted constant scalar curvature Kähler metric (in the sense of Lahdili) on the corresponding toric fiber in order to obtain an equivalence between the existence of extremal Kähler metrics on the total space and a su…
In this paper, we first prove a Donaldson-Uhlenbeck-Yau theorem over projective normal varieties smooth in codimension two. As a consequence we deduce the polystability of (dual) tensor products of stable reflexive sheaves, and we give a new proof of the Bogomolov-Gieseker inequality, along with a precise characterization of the case of equality. This also improves several previously known algebro-geometric results on normalized tautological classes. We study the limiting behavior of semistable bundles over a degenerating family of projective normal varieties. In the case of a family of stable…
We give new proofs of two implications in the Donaldson--Uhlenbeck--Yau theorem. Our proofs are based on geodesic rays of Hermitian metrics, inspired by recent work on the Yau--Tian--Donaldson conjecture.
Motivated by Strominger-Yau-Zaslow's mirror symmetry proposal and Kontsevich's homological mirror symmetry conjecture, we study mirror phenomena (in A-model) of certain results from Donaldson-Thomas theory for Calabi-Yau 4-folds.
G. Tian and S.K. Donaldson formulated a conjecture relating GIT stability of a polarized algebraic variety to the existence of a Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature. In [Don02] Donaldson partially confirmed it in the case of projective toric varieties. In this paper we extend Donaldson's results and computations to a new case, that of reductive varieties. The changes in the second version are cosmetic.
We formulate a notion of stability for maps between polarised varieties which generalises Kontsevich's definition when the domain is a curve and Tian-Donaldson's definition of K-stability when the target is a point. We give some examples, such as Kodaira embeddings and fibrations. We prove the existence of a projective moduli space of canonically polarised stable maps, generalising the Kontsevich-Alexeev moduli space of stable maps in dimensions one and two. We also state an analogue of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture in this setting, relating stability of maps to the existence of certain ca…
In this paper, we prove the Hamilton-Tian conjecture for Kähler-Ricci flow based on a recent work of Liu-Székelyhidi on Tian's partical $C^0$-estimate for poralized Kähler metrics with Ricci bounded below. The Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on Fano manifolds will be also discussed.
We extend a recent result of Burns, Guillemin and Uribe on the asymptotics of the spectral measure for the reduction metric on a toric variety to any toric metric on a toric variety. We show how this extended result together with the Tian-Yau-Zelditch asymptotic expansion can be used to deduce Abreu's formula for the scalar curvature of a toric metric on a toric variety in terms of polytope data.
In this paper is to extend the Cheeger-Colding Theory to the class of conic Kahler-Einstein metrics. This extension provides a technical tool for [LTW] in which we prove a version of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for Fano varieties with certain singularity.
Let $M$ be a regular Riemann surface with a metric which has constant scalar curvature $ρ$. We give the asymptotic expansion of the sum of the square norm of the sections of the pluricanonical bundles $K_{M}^{m}$. That is, \[\sum_{i=0}^{d_{m}-1}\|S_{i}(x_{0})\|_{h_{m}}^{2} \sim m(1+\fracρ{2 m})+O(e^{-\frac{(\log m)^{2}}{8}}),\] where $\{S_{0},...,S_{d_{m}-1}\}$ is an orthonormal basis for $H^{0}(M, K_{M}^{m})$ for sufficiently large $m$.
Let $X$ be a complex projective manifold and let $D\subset X$ be a smooth divisor. In this article, we are interested in studying limits when $β\to 0$ of Kähler-Einstein metrics $ω_β$ with a cone singularity of angle $2πβ$ along $D$. In our first result, we assume that $X\setminus D$ is a locally symmetric space and we show that $ω_β$ converges to the locally symmetric metric and further give asymptotics of $ω_β$ when $X\setminus D$ is a ball quotient. Our second result deals with the case when $X$ is Fano and $D$ is anticanonical. We prove a folklore conjecture asserting that a rescaled limit…
We derive a formula for non-Archimedean Monge-Ampère measures of big models. As applications, we derive a positive intersection formula for non-Archimedean Mabuchi functional, and further reduce the uniform Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for polarized manifolds to a conjecture about the existence of approximate Zariski decompositions that satisfy some asymptotic vanishing condition.
The Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence for vector bundles, established by Donaldson, Kobayashi, Luebke, Uhlenbeck and Yau, states that an indecomposable holomorphic vector bundle over a compact Kaehler manifold is stable in the sense of Takemoto-Mumford if and only if the vector bundle admits a Hermitian-Einstein metric. Its manifold analogue known as Yau's conjecture, which originated from Calabi's conjecture, asks whether ``stability'' and ``existence of extremal metrics'' for polarized manifolds are equivalent. In this note, the recent progress of this subject, by Donaldson, Tian and our grou…
We extend the framework of K-stability (Tian, Donaldson) to more general algebro-geometric setting, such as partial desingularisations of (fixed) singularities, (not necessarily flat) families over higher dimensional base and the classical birational geometry of surfaces. We also observe that "concavity" of the volume function implies decrease of the (generalised) Donaldson-Futaki invariants along the Minimal Model Program, in our generalised settings. Several related results on the connection with the MMP theory, some of which are new even in the original setting of families over curves, are …
In this paper we provide an explicit formula for the optimal lower bound of Donaldson's J-functional, in the sense of finding explicitly the optimal constant in the definition of coercivity, which always exists and takes negative values in general. This constant is positive precisely if the J-equation admits a solution, and the explicit formula has a number of applications. First, this leads to new existence criteria for constant scalar curvature Kähler (cscK) metrics in terms of Tian's alpha invariant. Moreover, we use the above formula to discuss Calabi dream manifolds and an analogous notio…
We survey the theory of Kähler-Einstein metrics, with particular focus on the circle of ideas surrounding the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for Fano manifolds.
We discuss a conjecture of Donaldson on a version of Yau's Theorem for symplectic forms with compatible almost complex structures and survey some recent progress on this problem. We also speculate on some future possible directions, and use a monotonicity formula for harmonic maps to obtain a new local estimate in the setting of Donaldson's conjecture.
We propose an algebraic geometric stability criterion for a polarised variety to admit an extremal Kaehler metric. This generalises conjectures by Yau, Tian and Donaldson which relate to the case of Kaehler-Einstein and constant scalar curvature metrics. We give a result in geometric invariant theory that motivates this conjecture, and an example computation that supports it.
We show that a polarized affine variety admits a Ricci flat Kähler cone metric, if and only if it is K-stable. This generalizes Chen-Donaldson-Sun's solution of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture to Kähler cones, or equivalently, Sasakian manifolds. As an application we show that the five-sphere admits infinitely many families of Sasaki-Einstein metrics.
In this short note, we show that given a special Kähler-Einstein degeneration with bounded geometry, for any noncentral fiber, there exists a Kähler-Ricci flow which converges to the Kähler-Einstein metric of the central fiber. As an example, Tian's deformations \cite{Tian97} of the Mukai 3-fold admit Kähler-Ricci flows which converge to Donaldson's Kähler-Einstein metric \cite{Don08} over the Mukai 3-fold.
We show that if a Fano manifold $M$ is K-stable with respect to special degenerations equivariant under a compact group of automorphisms, then $M$ admits a Kähler-Einstein metric. This is a strengthening of the solution of the Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for Fano manifolds by Chen-Donaldson-Sun, and can be used to obtain new examples of Kähler-Einstein manifolds. We also give analogous results for twisted Kähler-Einstein metrics and Kahler-Ricci solitons.
In arXiv:0805.2192, we set up a gauge-theoretic equation on symplectic 6-manifolds, which is a version of the Hermitian-Einstein equation perturbed by Higgs fields, and call Donaldson-Thomas equation, to analytically approach the Donaldson-Thomas invariants. In this article, we consider the equation on compact Kähler threefolds, and study some of analytic properties of solutions to them, using analytic methods in higher-dimensional Yang-Mills theory developed by Nakajima and Tian with some additional arguments concerning an extra non-linear term coming from the Higgs fields. We prove that a se…
We show that delta invariant is a continuous function on the big cone. We will also introduce an analytic delta invariant and show its continuity in the Kähler cone, from which we deduce the continuity of the greatest Ricci lower bound. Then building on the work Berman-Boucksom-Jonsson, we obtain a uniform Yau-Tian-Donaldson theorem for twisted Kähler-Einstein metrics in general Kähler classes.
In alignment with a programme by Donaldson and Thomas [DT], Thomas [Th] constructed a deformation invariant for smooth projective Calabi-Yau threefolds, which is now called the Donaldson-Thomas invariant, from the moduli space of (semi-)stable sheaves by using algebraic geometry techniques. In the same paper [Th], Thomas noted that certain perturbed Hermitian-Einstein equations might possibly produce an analytic theory of the invariant. This article sets up the equations on symplectic 6-manifolds, and gives the local model and structures of the moduli space coming from the equations. We then d…
We construct the first nontrivial examples of Calabi-Yau monopoles. Our main interest on these, comes from Donaldson and Segal's suggestion \cite{Donaldson2009} that it may be possible to define an invariant of certain noncompact Calabi-Yau manifolds from these gauge theoretical equations. We focus on the Stenzel metric on the cotangent bundle of the $3$-sphere $T^* \mathbb{S}^3$ and study monopoles under a symmetry assumption. Our main result constructs the moduli of these symmetric monopoles and shows that these are parametrized by a positive real number known as the mass of the monopole. In…
We study the existence of extremal Kähler metrics on Kähler manifolds. After introducing a notion of relative K-stability for Kähler manifolds, we prove that Kähler manifolds admitting extremal Kähler metrics are relatively K-stable. Along the way, we prove a general $L^p$ lower bound on the Calabi functional involving test configurations and their associated numerical invariants, answering a question of Donaldson. When the Kähler manifold is projective, our definition of relative K-stability is stronger than the usual definition given by Székelyhidi. In particular our result strengthens the k…
We study the Calabi-Yau equation on symplectic manifolds. We show that Donaldson's conjecture on estimates for this equation in terms of a taming symplectic form can be reduced to an integral estimate of a scalar potential function. Under a positive curvature condition, we show that the conjecture holds.
We prove that the partial $C^0$-estimate holds for metrics along Aubin's continuity method for finding Kähler-Einstein metrics, confirming a special case of a conjecture due to Tian. We use the method developed in recent work of Chen-Donaldson-Sun on the analogous problem for conical Kähler-Einstein metrics.
