On K-Stability of Reductive Varieties

G. Tian and S.K. Donaldson formulated a conjecture relating GIT stability of a polarized algebraic variety to the existence of a Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature. In [Don02] Donaldson partially confirmed it in the case of projective toric varieties. In this paper we extend Donaldson's results and computations to a new case, that of reductive varieties. The changes in the second version are cosmetic.

Examples on Loewy filtrations and K-stability of Fano varieties with non-reductive automorphism groups

It is known that the automorphism group of a K-polystable Fano manifold is reductive. Codogni and Dervan construct a canonical filtration of the section ring, called Loewy filtration, and conjecture that the Loewy filtration destabilizes any Fano variety with non-reductive automorphism group. In this note, we give a counterexample to their conjecture.

Stability with respect to actions of real reductive Lie groups

We give a systematic treatment of the stability theory for action of a real reductive Lie group G on a topological space. More precisely, we introduce an abstract setting for actions of non-compact real reductive Lie groups on topological spaces that admit functions similar to the Kempf-Ness function. Factorization Theorem for Projective Varieties with Finite Quotient Singularities

In this paper, we prove that any two birational projective varieties with finite quotient singularities can be realized as two geometric GIT quotients of a non-singular projective variety by a reductive algebraic group. Then, by applying the theory of Variation of Geometric Invariant Theory Quotients ([3]), we show that they are related by a sequence of GIT wall-crossing flips.

Non-reductive automorphism groups, the Loewy filtration and K-stability

We study the K-stability of a polarised variety with non-reductive automorphism group. We associate a canonical filtration of the co-ordinate ring to each variety of this kind, which destabilises the variety in several examples which we compute. We conjecture this holds in general. This is an algebro-geometric analogue of Matsushima's theorem regarding the existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics. As an application, we give an example of an orbifold del Pezzo surface without a Kähler-Einstein metric.

Weighted K-stability of $\mathbb Q$-Fano spherical varieties

Let $G$ be a connected, complex reductive Lie group and $X$ a $\mathbb Q$-Fano $G$-spherical variety. In this paper we compute the weighed non-Archimedean functionals of a $G$-equivariant normal test configurations of $X$ via combinatory data. Also we define a modified Futaki invariant with respect to the weight $g$, and give an expression in terms of intersection numbers. Finally we show the equivalence of different notations of stability and gives a stability criterion on $\mathbb Q$-Fano spherical varieties, which is also a criterion of existence of Kähler-Ricci $g$-solitons.

Algebraic torus actions on contact manifolds

We prove the LeBrun-Salamon Conjecture in low dimensions. More precisely, we show that a contact Fano manifold X of dimension 2n+1 that has reductive automorphism group of rank at least n-2 is necessarily homogeneous. This implies that any positive quaternion-Kahler manifold of real dimension at most 16 is necessarily a symmetric space, one of the Wolf spaces. A similar result about contact Fano manifolds of dimension at most 9 with reductive automorphism group also holds. On Berman-Gibbs stability and K-stability of $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties

The notion of Berman-Gibbs stability was originally introduced by Robert Berman for $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano varieties $X$. We show that the pair $(X, -K_X)$ is K-stable (resp. K-semistable) provided that $X$ is Berman-Gibbs stable (resp. semistable).

Stability, analytic stability for real reductive Lie groups

G-uniform stability and Kähler-Einstein metrics on Fano varieties

Let $X$ be any $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety and $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$ be the identity component of the automorphism group of $X$. Let $\mathbb{G}$ be a connected reductive subgroup of $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$ that contains a maximal torus of $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$. We prove that $X$ admits a Kähler-Einstein metric if and only if $X$ is $\mathbb{G}$-uniformly K-stable. This proves a version of Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for arbitrary singular Fano varieties. A key new ingredient is a valuative criterion for $\mathbb{G}$-uniform K-stability.
