In this work we obtain the pointwise almost everywhere convergence for two families of multilinear operators: (a) truncated homogeneous singular integral operators associated with $L^q$ functions on the sphere and (b) lacunary multiplier operators of limited decay.
The a.e. convergence is deduced from the $L^2\times\cdots\times L^2\to L^{2/m}$ boundedness of the associated maximal multilinear operators.
We obtain partial improvement toward the pointwise convergence problem of Schrödinger solutions, in the general setting of fractal measure. In particular, we show that, for $n\geq 3$, $\lim_{t \to 0} e^{itΔ}f(x) = f(x)$ almost everywhere with respect to Lebesgue measure for all $f \in H^s (\mathbb{R}^n)$ provided that $s>(n+1)/2(n+2)$. The proof uses linear refined Strichartz estimates. We also prove a multilinear refined Strichartz using decoupling and multilinear Kakeya.
We prove Bloom type two-weight inequalities for commutators of multilinear singular integral operators including Calderón-Zygmund operators and their dyadic counterparts. Such estimates are further extended to a general higher order multilinear setting. The proof involves a pointwise sparse domination of multilinear commutators.
It is well-known that estimates for maximal operators and questions of pointwise convergence are strongly connected. In recent years, convergence properties of so-called `non-conventional ergodic averages' have been studied by a number of authors, including Assani, Austin, Host, Kra, Tao, and so on. In particular, much is known regarding convergence in $L^2$ of these averages, but little is known about pointwise convergence. In this spirit, we consider the pointwise convergence of a particular ergodic average and study the corresponding maximal trilinear operator (over $\mathbb{R}$, thanks to …
In this paper, the main aim is to consider the boundedness of commutators of multilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators with Lipschitz functions in the context of the variable exponent Lebesgue spaces. Furthermore, the variable versions of the Lipschitz spaces are also discussed, and with the help of a key tool of a pointwise estimate involving the sharp maximal operator of the multilinear fractional commutator and certain associated maximal operators.
We prove a pointwise estimate for positive dyadic shifts of complexity $m$ which is linear in the complexity. This can be used to give a pointwise estimate for Calderón-Zygmund operators and to answer a question posed by A. Lerner. Several applications to weighted estimates for both multilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators and square functions are discussed.
In this paper, we consider the boundedness properties of multilinear $θ$-type Calderón--Zygmund operators $T_θ$ recently introduced in the literature. First, we prove strong type and weak type estimates for multilinear $θ$-type Calderón--Zygmund operators on products of weighted Morrey spaces with multiple weights. Then we discuss strong type estimates for both multilinear commutators and iterated commutators of $T_θ$ on products of these spaces with multiple weights. Furthermore, the weak end-point estimates for commutators of $T_θ$ and pointwise multiplication with functions in bounded mean …
In this paper, we first introduce several new classes of weighted amalgam spaces. Then we discuss both strong type and weak type estimates for certain multilinear $θ$-type Calderón--Zygmund operators $T_θ$ recently introduced in the literature on products of these spaces with multiple weights. Furthermore, the strong type and weak end-point estimates for both multilinear commutators and iterated commutators of $T_θ$ and pointwise multiplication with BMO functions are established as well.
Iterated commutators of multilinear Calderon-Zygmund operators and pointwise multiplication with functions in $BMO$ are studied in products of Lebesgue spaces. Both strong type and weak end-point estimates are obtained, including weighted results involving the vectors weights of the multilinear Calderon-Zygmund theory recently introduced in the literature. Some better than expected estimates for certain multilinear operators are presented too.
In this article, we address pointwise sparse domination for multilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators on upper doubling, geometrically doubling metric measure spaces. As a consequence, we have obtained sharp quantitative weighted estimates for multilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators.
This paper will be devoted to study the regularity and continuity properties of the following local multilinear fractional type maximal operators, $$\mathfrak{M}_{α,Ω}(\vec{f})(x)=\sup\limits_{0<r<{\rm dist}(x,Ω^c)}\frac{r^α}{|B(x,r)|^m}\prod\limits_{i=1}^m\int_{B(x,r)}|f_i(y)|dy,\quad \hbox{for \ }0\leqα<mn,$$ where $Ω$ is a subdomain in $\mathbb{R}^n$, $Ω^c=\mathbb{R}^n\backslashΩ$ and $B(x,r)$ is the ball in $\mathbb{R}^n$ centered at $x$ with radius $r$. Several new pointwise estimates for the derivative of the local multilinear maximal function $\mathfrak{M}_{0,Ω}$ and the fractional maxi…
In this paper, we obtain pointwise convergence of solutions to the Schrodinger equation along a class of curves in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ by the polynomial partitioning.
We prove $L^p$ bounds for the extensions of standard multilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators to tuples of UMD spaces tied by a natural product structure. This can, for instance, mean the pointwise product in UMD function lattices, or the composition of operators in the Schatten-von Neumann subclass of the algebra of bounded operators on a Hilbert space. We do not require additional assumptions beyond UMD on each space - in contrast to previous results, we e.g. show that the Rademacher maximal function property is not necessary. The obtained generality allows for novel applications. For instance…
We prove a.e. convergence of continuous-time quadratic averages with respect to two commuting $\mathbb{R}$-actions, coming from a single jointly measurable measure-preserving $\mathbb{R}^2$-action on a probability space. The key ingredient of the proof comes from recent work on multilinear singular integrals; more specifically, from the study of a curved model for the triangular Hilbert transform.
Let $\mathbb{R}=(-\infty,\infty)$, and let $Q\in C^1(\mathbb{R}): \mathbb{R}\rightarrow[0,\infty)$ be an even function. We consider the exponential weights $w(x)=e^{-Q(x)}$, $x\in \mathbb{R}$. In this paper we obtain a pointwise convergence theorem for the Fourier-type series with respect to the orthonormal polynomials $\left\{p_n(w^2;x)\right\}$.
We consider Carleson's problem regarding pointwise convergence for the Schrödinger equation. Bourgain recently proved that there is initial data, in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with $s<\frac{n}{2(n+1)}$, for which the solution diverges on a set of nonzero Lebesgue measure. We provide a different example enabling the generalisation to fractional Hausdorff measure.
We consider pointwise convergence of Schrödinger means $e^{it_{n}Δ}f(x)$ for $f \in H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$ and decreasing sequences $\{t_{n}\}_{n=1}^{\infty}$ converging to zero. The main theorem improves the previous results of [Sjölin, JFAA, 2018] and [Sjölin-Strömberg, JMAA, 2020] in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$. This study is based on investigating properties of Schrödinger type maximal functions related to hypersurfaces with vanishing Gaussian curvature.
In this work we extend Lacey's domination theorem to prove the pointwise control of bilinear Calderón--Zygmund operators with Dini--continuous kernel by sparse operators. The precise bounds are carefully tracked following the spirit in a recent work of Hytönen, Roncal and Tapiola. We also derive new mixed weighted estimates for a general class of bilinear dyadic positive operators using multiple $A_{\infty}$ constants inspired in the Fujii-Wilson and Hrusčěv classical constants. These estimates have many new applications including mixed bounds for multilinear Calderón--Zygmund operators and th…
We show that if $f$ is locally in $L\log\log L$ then the lacunary spherical means converge almost everywhere. The argument given here is a model case for more general results on singular maximal functions and Radon transforms (see ref. 6).
We construct a variety of mappings of the unit interval into $\mathcal{L}^p([0,1])$ to generalize classical examples of $\mathcal{L}^p$-convergence of sequences of functions with simultaneous pointwise divergence. By establishing relations between the regularity of the functions in the image of the mappings and the topology of $[0,1]$, we obtain examples which are $\mathcal{L}^p$-continuous but exhibit discontinuity in a pointwise sense to different degrees. We conclude by proving an Egorov-type theorem, namely that if almost every function in the image is continuous, then we can remove a set …
We study pointwise convergence of the fractional Schrödinger means along sequences $t_n$ which converge to zero. Our main result is that bounds on the maximal function $\sup_{n} |e^{it_n(-Δ)^{α/2}} f| $ can be deduced from those on $\sup_{0<t\le 1} |e^{it(-Δ)^{α/2}} f|$ when $\{t_n\}$ is contained in the Lorentz space $\ell^{r,\infty}$. Consequently, our results provide seemingly optimal results in higher dimensions, which extend the recent work of Dimou-Seeger, and Li-Wang-Yan to higher dimensions. Our approach based on a localization argument also works for other dispersive equations and pro…
We prove a version of Carleson's Theorem in the Walsh model for vector-valued functions: For $1<p< \infty$, and a UMD space $Y$, the Walsh-Fourier series of $f \in L ^{p}(0,1;Y)$ converges pointwise, provided that $Y$ is a complex interpolation space $Y=[X,H]_θ$ between another UMD space $X$ and a Hilbert space $H$, for some $θ\in(0,1)$. Apparently, all known examples of UMD spaces satisfy this condition.
We study pointwise convergence of the solutions to Schrödinger equations with initial datum $f\in H^s(\mathbb R^n)$. The conjecture is that the solution $e^{itΔ}f$ converges to $f$ almost everywhere for all $f\in H^s(\mathbb R^n)$ if and only if $s\ge 1/4$. The conjecture is known true for one spatial dimension and the convergence when $s>1/2$ was verified for $n\ge 2$. Recently, concrete progresses have been made in $\mathbb R^2$ for some $s<1/2$. However, when $n\ge 3$ no positive result is known for the initial datum $f\in H^s(\mathbb R^n)$, $s\le 1/2$. We show that $\lim_{t\to 0} e^{itΔ}f=…
We prove that the lacunary Carleson operator is bounded from $L \log L$ to $L^{1}$. This result is sharp. The proof is based on two newly introduced concepts: 1) the \emph{time-frequency regularization of a measurable set} and 2) the \emph{set-resolution of the time-frequency plane at $0-$frequency}. These two concepts will play the central role in providing a special tile decomposition adapted to the interaction between the \emph{structure} of the lacunary Carleson operator and the corresponding \emph{structure} of a fix measurable set. Another key insight of our paper is that it provides for…
We generalize the respective ``double recurrence'' results of Bourgain and of the second author, which established for pairs of $L^{\infty}$ functions on a finite measure space the a.e. convergence of the discrete bilinear ergodic averages and of the discrete bilinear Hilbert averages defined by invertible measure-preserving point transformations. Our generalizations are set in the context of arbitrary sigma-finite measure spaces and take the form of a.e. convergence of such discrete averages, as well as of their continuous variable counterparts, when these averages are defined by Lebesgue spa…
We prove pointwise variational Lp bounds for a bilinear Fourier integral operator in a large but not necessarily sharp range of exponents. This result is a joint strengthening of the corresponding bounds for the classical Carleson operator, the bilinear Hilbert transform, the variation norm Carleson operator, and the bi-Carleson operator. Terry Lyon's rough path theory allows for extension of our result to multilinear estimates. We consider our result a proof of concept for a wider array of similar estimates with possible applications to ordinary differential equations.
In this paper, we set up the selection conditions for time series $\{t_k\}_{k=1}^\infty$ which converge to 0 as $k\rightarrow\infty$ such that the solutions of a class of generalized Schrödinger equations almost everywhere pointwise converge to their initial data in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for $s>0$. As it is known that the pointwise convergence can not be true for Schrödinger equation when $s<\frac{n}{2(n+1)}$ as $t\rightarrow0$.
We consider the pointwise convergence problem for the solution of Schrödinger-type equations along directions determined by a given compact subset of the real line. This problem contains Carleson's problem as the most simple case and was studied in general by Cho--Lee--Vargas. We extend their result from the case of the classical Schrödinger equation to a class of equations which includes the fractional Schrödinger equations. To achieve this, we significantly simplify their proof by completely avoiding a time localization argument.
It is a classical result that dyadic partial sums of the Fourier series of functions $f \in L^p(\mathbb{T})$ converge almost everywhere for $p \in (1, \infty)$. In 1968, E. A. Bredihina established an analogous result for functions belonging to the Stepanov space of almost periodic functions $S^2$ whose Fourier exponents satisfy a natural separation condition. Here, the maximal operator corresponding to dyadic partial summation of almost periodic Fourier series is bounded on the Stepanov spaces $S^{2^k}$, $k \in \mathbb{N}$ for functions satisfying the same condition; Bredihina's result follow…
We prove a vector-valued version of Carleson's theorem: Let Y=[X,H]_t be a complex interpolation space between a UMD space X and a Hilbert space H. For p\in(1,\infty) and f\in L^p(T;Y), the partial sums of the Fourier series of f converge to f pointwise almost everywhere. Apparently, all known examples of UMD spaces are of this intermediate form Y=[X,H]_t. In particular, we answer affirmatively a question of Rubio de Francia on the pointwise convergence of Fourier series of Schatten class valued functions.
In this paper we study the pointwise convergence problem along a tangential curve for the fractional Schrödinger equations in one spatial dimension and estimate the capacitary dimension of the divergence set. We extend a prior paper by Lee and the first author for the classical Schrödinger equation, which in itself contains a result due to Lee, Vargas and the first author, to the fractional Schrödinger equation. The proof is based on a decomposition argument without time localization, which has recently been introduced by the second author.
Let ${\bf X}=(X, Σ, m, τ)$ be a dynamical system. We prove that the bilinear series $\sideset{}{'}\sum_{n=-N}^{N}\frac{f(τ^nx)g(τ^{-n}x)}{n}$ converges almost everywhere for each $f,g\in L^{\infty}(X).$ We also give a proof along the same lines of Bourgain's analog result for averages.
In his 2006 ICM invited address, Konyagin mentioned the following conjecture: if $S_n f$ stands for the $n$-th partial Fourier sum of $f$ and ${n_j}_j\subset \N$ is a lacunary sequence, then $S_{n_j} f$ is a.e. pointwise convergent for any $f\in L\log\log L$. In this paper we will show that $| \sup_{j} |S_{n_j}(f)| |_{1,\infty}\leq C |f|_{1} \log\log (10+\frac{|f|_{\infty}}{|f|_1})\:.$ As a direct consequence we obtain that $S_{n_j}f \rightarrow f $ a.e. for $f\in L\log\log L\log\log\log L$. The (discrete) Walsh model version of this last fact was proved by Do and Lacey but their methods do no…
We prove that if $μ_n$ are probability measures on $Z$ such that $\hat μ_n$ converges to 0 uniformly on every compact subset of $(0,1)$, then there exists a subsequence $\{n_k\}$ such that the weighted ergodic averages corresponding to $μ_{n_k}$ satisfy a pointwise ergodic theorem in $L^1$. We further discuss the relationship between Fourier decay and pointwise ergodic theorems for subsequences, considering in particular the averages along $n^2+ \lfloor ρ(n)\rfloor$ for a slowly growing function $ρ$. Under some monotonicity assumptions, the rate of growth of $ρ'(x)$ determines the existence of…
For functions in the Sobolev space $H^s$ and decreasing sequences $t_n\to 0$ we examine convergence almost everywhere of the generalized Schrödinger means on the real line, given by \[S^af(x,t_n)=\exp( it_n (-\partial_{xx})^{a/2})f(x);\] here $a>0$, $a\neq 1$. For decreasing convex sequences we obtain a simple characterization of convergence a.e. for all functions in $H^s$ when $0<s<\min\{a/4,1/4\}$ and $a\neq 1$. We prove sharp quantitative local and global estimates for the associated maximal functions. We also obtain sharp results for the case $a=1$.
We study the fractal pointwise convergence for the equation $i\hbar\partial_tu + P(D)u = 0$, where the symbol $P$ is real, homogeneous and non-singular. We prove that for initial data $f\in H^s(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with $s>(n-α+1)/2$ the solution $u$ converges to $f$ $\mathcal{H}^α$-a.e, where $\mathcal{H}^α$ is the $α$-dimensional Hausdorff measure. We improve upon this result depending on the dispersive strength of $P$. On the other hand, for a family of polynomials $P$ and given $α$, we exploit a Talbot-like effect to construct initial data whose solutions $u$ diverge in sets of Hausdorff dimensi…
