A new class of locally unital and locally finite dimensional algebras $A$ over an arbitrary algebraically closed field is discovered. Each of them admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition, a generalization of an upper finite triangular decomposition. Any locally unital algebra which admits an upper finite Cartan decomposition is Morita equivalent to some special locally unital algebra $A$ which admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition. It is established that the category $A$-lfdmod of locally finite dimensional left $A$-modules is an upper finite fully stratified category in the sense of Brundan-Stroppel. Moreover, $A$ is semisimple if and only if its centralizer subalgebras associated to certain idempotent elements are semisimple. Furthermore, certain endofunctors are defined and give categorical actions of some Lie algebras on the subcategory of $A$-lfdmod consisting of all objects which have a finite standard filtration. In the case $A$ is the locally unital algebra associated to one of cyclotomic oriented Brauer categories, cyclotomic Brauer categories and cyclotomic Kauffman categories, $A$ admits an upper finite weakly triangular decomposition. This leads to categorifications of representations of the classical limits of coideal algebras, which come from all integrable highest weight modules of $\mathfrak {sl}_\infty$ or $\hat {\mathfrak{sl}}_e$. Finally, we study representations of $A$ associated to either cyclotomic Brauer categories or cyclotomic Kauffman categories in details, including explicit criteria on the semisimplicity of $A$ over an arbitrary field, and on $A$-lfdmod being upper finite highest weight category in the sense of Brundan-Stroppel, and on Morita equivalence between $A$ and direct sum of infinitely many (degenerate) cyclotomic Hecke algebras.
We apply the technique of recollement to study the Gorenstein defect categories of triangular matrix algebras. First, we construct a left recollement of Gorenstein defect categories for a triangular matrix algebra under some conditions, using it, we give a categorical interpretation of the Gorenstein properties of the triangular matrix algebra obtained by X-W. Chen, B. L. Xiong and P. Zhang respectively. Second, under some additional conditions, a recollement of Gorenstein defect categories for a triangular matrix algebra is constructed. As an application, for a special kind of triangular matr…
We study certain Schur functors which preserve singularity categories of rings and we apply them to study the singularity category of triangular matrix rings. In particular, combining these results with Buchweitz-Happel's theorem, we can describe singularity categories of certain non-Gorenstein rings via the stable category of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules. Three concrete examples of finite-dimensional algebras with the same singularity category are discussed.
Let $T=(A,M,0,B)$ be a triangular matrix algebra with its corner algebras $A$ and $B$ Artinian and $_AM_B$ an $A$-$B$-bimodule. The 2-recollement structures for singularity categories and Gorenstein defect categories over $T$ are studied. Under mild assumptions, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existences of 2-recollements of singularity categories and Gorenstein defect categories over $T$ relative to those of $A$ and $B$. Parts of our results strengthen and unify the corresponding work in [27,28,34].
Let $Λ= \left[\begin{array}{cc} A & 0 \\ M & B \end{array}\right] $ be an Artin algebra and $_BM_A$ a $B$-$A$-bimodule. We prove that there is a triangle equivalence $D_{sg}(Λ) \cong D_{sg}(A)\coprod D_{sg}(B)$ between the corresponding singularity categories if $_BM$ is semi-simple and $M_A$ is projective. As a result, we obtain a new method for describing the singularity categories of certain bounded quiver algebras.
In this paper, we prove that the lower triangular matrix category $Λ=\left [ \begin{smallmatrix} \mathcal{T}&0\\ M&\mathcal{U} \end{smallmatrix} \right ]$, where $\mathcal{T}$ and $\mathcal{U}$ are quasi-hereditary $\mathrm{Hom}$-finite Krull-Schmidt $K$-categories and $M$ is a $\mathcal U\otimes_K \mathcal T^{op}$-module that satisfies suitable conditions, is quasi-hereditary in the sense of \cite{LGOS1} and \cite{Martin}. Moreover, we solve the problem of finding quotients of path categories isomorphic to the lower triangular matrix category $Λ$, where $\mathcal T=K\mathcal{R/J}$ and $\mathc…
These notes attempt to give a short survey of the approach to support theory and the study of lattices of triangulated subcategories through the machinery of tensor triangular geometry. One main aim is to introduce the material necessary to state and prove the local-to-global principle. In particular, we discuss Balmer's construction of the spectrum, generalised Rickard idempotents and support for compactly generated triangulated categories, and actions of tensor triangulated categories. Several examples are also given along the way. These notes are based on a series of lectures given during t…
A finite directed category is a $k$-linear category with finitely many objects and an underlying poset structure, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. This concept unifies structures such as $k$-linerizations of posets and finite EI categories, quotient algebras of finite-dimensional hereditary algebras, triangular matrix algebras, etc. In this paper we study representations of finite directed categories, discuss their stratification properties, and show the existence of generalized APR tilting modules for triangular matrix algebras under some assumptions.
In this note we prove that additive categories that occur as hearts of weight structures are precisely the weakly idempotent completecategories, that is, the categories where all split monomorphisms give direct sum decompositions. We also give several other conditions equivalent to weak idempotent completeness (some of them are completely new), and discuss weak idempotent completions of additive categories.
We recall P. Balmer's definition of tensor triangular Chow group for a tensor triangulated category $\mathcal{K}$ and explore some of its properties. We give a proof that for a suitably nice scheme $X$ it recovers the usual notion of Chow group from algebraic geometry when we put $\mathcal{K} = \mathrm{D^{perf}}(X)$. Furthermore, we identify a class of functors for which tensor triangular Chow groups behave functorially and show that (for suitably nice schemes) proper push-forward and flat pull-back of algebraic cycles can be interpreted as being induced by the derived inverse and direct image…
We discuss gluing of objects and gluing of morphisms in tensor triangulated categories. We illustrate the results by producing, among other things, a Mayer-Vietoris exact sequence involving Picard groups.
In representation theory, the double centraliser property is an important property for a module (bimodule). It plays a fundamental role in many theories. In this paper, we extend this property to complexes in derived categories of finite dimensional algebras, under the name derived double centraliser property. Characterizations for complexes with the derived double centraliser property and (two-sided) tilting complexes in derived categories of hereditary algebras are given. In particular, all complexes with this property in the derived categories of lower triangular matrix algebras are classif…
We develop a suitable version of the stable module category of a finite group G over an arbitrary commutative ring k. The purpose of the construction is to produce a compactly generated triangulated category whose compact objects are the finitely presented kG-modules. The main idea is to form a localisation of the usual version of the stable module category with respect to the filtered colimits of weakly injective modules. There is also an analogous version of the homotopy category of weakly injective kG-modules and a recollement relating the stable category, the homotopy category, and the der…
We show that any slightly degenerate weakly group-theoretical fusion category admits a minimal non-degenerate extension. Let $d$ be a positive square-free integer, given a weakly group-theoretical non-degenerate fusion category $\mathcal{C}$, assume that $\text{FPdim}(\mathcal{C})=nd$ and $(n,d)=1$. If $(\text{FPdim}(X)^2,d)=1$ for all simple objects $X$ of $\mathcal{C}$, then we show that $\mathcal{C}$ contains a non-degenerate fusion subcategory $\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{Z}_d,q)$. In particular, we obtain that integral fusion categories of FP-dimensions $p^md$ such that $\mathcal{C}'\subseteq \te…
For a recollement $(\mathcal{D}B,\mathcal{D}A,\mathcal{D}C)$ of derived categories of algebras, we investigate when the functor $j^*:\mathcal{D}A\rightarrow\mathcal{D}C$ is an eventually homological isomorphism. In this context, we compare the algebras $A$ and $C$ with respect to Gorensteinness, singularity categories and the finite generation condition Fg for the Hochschild cohomology. The results are applied to stratifying ideals, triangular matrix algebras and derived discrete algebras.
Using the relative derived categories, we prove that if an Artin algebra $A$ has a module $T$ with ${\rm inj.dim}T<\infty$ such that $^\perp T$ is finite, then the bounded derived category $D^b({\rm mod}A)$ admits a categorical resolution; and that for CM-finite Gorenstein algebra, such a categorical resolution is weakly crepant.
Using results in a previous paper "Non-semistable exceptional objects in hereditary categories", we focus here on studying the topology of the space of Bridgeland stability conditions on $D^b(Rep_k(Q ))$, where $Q$ is the acyclic triangular quiver (the underlying graph is the extended Dynkin diagram $\widetilde{\mathbb A}_2$). In particular, we prove that this space is contractible (in the previous paper it was shown that it is connected).
We define locally wide finitary 2-categories by relaxing the definition of finitary 2-categories to allow infinitely many objects and isomorphism classes of 1-morphisms and infinite dimensional hom-spaces of 2-morphisms. After defining related concepts including transitive 2-representations in this setting, we provide a new method of constructing coalgebra 1-morphisms associated to transitive 2-representations of locally wide weakly fiat 2-categories, and demonstrate that any such transitive 2-representation is equivalent to a certain subcategory of the category of comodule 1-morphisms over th…
Given an artin algebra $Λ$ with an idempotent element $a$ we compare the algebras $Λ$ and $aΛa$ with respect to Gorensteinness, singularity categories and the finite generation condition Fg for the Hochschild cohomology. In particular, we identify assumptions on the idempotent element $a$ which ensure that $Λ$ is Gorenstein if and only if $aΛa$ is Gorenstein, that the singularity categories of $Λ$ and $aΛa$ are equivalent and that Fg holds for $Λ$ if and only if Fg holds for $aΛa$. We approach the problem by using recollements of abelian categories and we prove the results concerning Gorenstei…
In this paper, we present an approach to the definition of multiparameter quantum groups by studying Hopf algebras with triangular decomposition. Classifying all of these Hopf algebras which are of what we call weakly separable type over a group, we obtain a class of pointed Hopf algebras which can be viewed as natural generalizations of multiparameter deformations of universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. These Hopf algebras are instances of a new version of braided Drinfeld doubles, which we call asymmetric braided Drinfeld doubles. This is a generalization of an earlier result by Be…
