In this paper, we prove the uniform nonlinear structural stability of Poiseuille flows with arbitrarily large flux for the Navier-Stokes system in a two dimensional periodic strip when the period is not large. The key point is to establish the a priori estimate for the associated linearized problem via the careful analysis for the associated boundary layers. Furthermore, the well-posedness theory for the Navier-Stokes system is also proved even when the external force is large in $L^2$. Finally, if the vertical velocity is suitably small where the smallness is independent of the flux, then Poiseuille flow is the unique solution of the steady Navier-Stokes system in the periodic strip.
We consider the solution to the 2D Navier-Stokes equations around the Poiseuille flow $(y^2,0)$ on $\mathbb{T}\times\mathbb{R}$ with small viscosity $ν>0$. Via a hypocoercivity argument, we prove that the $x-$dependent modes of the solution to the linear problem undergo the enhanced dissipation effect with a rate proportional to $ν^{\frac{1}{2}}$. Moreover, we study the nonlinear enhanced dissipation effect and we establish a transition threshold of $ν^{\frac{2}{3}+}$. Namely, when the perturbation of the Poiseuille flow is size at most $ν^{\frac{2}{3}+}$, its size remains so for all times and…
In this paper, uniqueness and uniform structural stability of Poiseuille flows in an infinitely long pipe with Navier boundary conditions are established for axisymmetric solutions of steady Navier-Stokes system. The crucial point is that the estimate is uniform with respect both the flux of flows and slip coefficient which appeared in Navier boundary conditions. With the aid of special structure of Navier-Stokes system and the refined estimate for some quantities such as radial velocity, the uniqueness and existence of steady solutions of Navier-Stokes system can be obtained even when the ext…
In this paper, we prove the uniqueness and structural stability of Poiseuille flows for axisymmetric solutions of steady Navier-Stokes system supplemented with Navier boundary conditions in a periodic pipe. Moreover, the stability is uniform with respect to both the flux and the slip coefficient of Navier boundary conditions. It is also showed that the non-zero frequency part of the velocity is bounded by a power function of the flux with negative power as long as the flux is suitably large. One of the key ingredients of the analysis is to prove the uniform linear structural stability, where t…
We formulate on a half-strip an initial boundary value problem for the two-dmensional Kawahara equation. Existence and uniqueness of a regular solution as well as the exponential decay rate for the elevated norm of small solutions are proven.
Initial-boundary value problems in a strip with different types of boundary conditions for two-dimensional generalized Zakharov--Kuznetsov equation are considered. Results on global existence and uniqueness of weak solutions in certain weighted spaces are established.

We consider the 2D simplified Bardina turbulence model, with horizontal filtering, in an unbounded strip-like domain. We prove global existence and uniqueness of weak solutions in a suitable class of anisotropic weighted Sobolev spaces.
An initial-boundary value problem in a strip with homogeneous Diriclet boundary conditions for two-dimensional generalized Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation is considered. In particular, dissipative and absorbing degenerate terms can be supplemented to the original Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. Results on global existence, uniqueness and long-time decay of weak silutions are established.
In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of strong axisymmetric solutions with large flux for the steady Navier-Stokes system in a pipe are established even when the external force is also suitably large in $L^2$. Furthermore, the exponential convergence rate at far fields for the arbitrary steady solutions with finite $H^2$ distance to the Hagen-Poiseuille flows is established as long as the external forces converge exponentially at far fields. The key point to get the existence of these large solutions is the refined estimate for the derivatives in the axial direction of the stream functi…
In the present paper we characterize the existence and uniqueness of maximal Lp-regular solutions of high order convolution operator equations. Particularly, we get coercive uniform estimates with respect to spectral parameter and we show that corresponding realization operator is R-positive and generates analytic semigroup in Lp. Then we apply these results to various problems of nonlinear integro-differential equations.
This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness of the strong solution to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with Navier-slip boundary conditions in a two-dimensional strip domain where the slip coefficients may not have defined sign. In the meantime, we also establish a number of Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities in the corresponding Sobolev spaces which will be applicable to other similar situations.
We consider the hyperbolic version of three-dimensional anisotropic Naver-Stokes equations in a thin strip and its hydrostatic limit that is a hyperbolic Prandtl type equations. We prove the global-in-time existence and uniqueness for the two systems and the hydrostatic limit when the initial data belong to the Gevrey function space with index 2. The proof is based on a direct energy method by observing the damping effect in the systems.
We consider the Stokes-transport system, a model for the evolution of an incompressible viscous fluid with inhomogeneous density. This equation was already known to be globally well-posed for any $L^1\cap L^\infty$ initial density with finite first moment in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We show that similar results hold on different domain types. We prove that the system is globally well-posed for $L^\infty$ initial data in bounded domains of $\mathbb{R}^2$ and $\mathbb{R}^3$ as well as in the infinite strip $\mathbb{R}\times(0,1)$. These results contrast with the ill-posedness of a similar problem, the in…
Incompressible Euler flows in narrow domains, in which the horizontal length scale is much larger than other scales, play an important role in applications, and their leading-order behavior can be described by the hydrostatic Euler equations. In this paper, we show that steady solutions of the hydrostatic Euler equations in an infinite strip strictly away from stagnation must be shear flows. Furthermore, we prove the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behavior of global steady solutions to the hydrostatic Euler equations in general nozzles. In terms of stream function formulation, the hydro…
We prove existence and uniqueness for fully-developed (Poiseuille-type) flows in semi-infinite cylinders, in the setting of (time) almost-periodic functions. In the case of Stepanov almost-periodic functions the proof is based on a detailed variational analysis of a linear "inverse" problem, while in the Besicovitch setting the proof follows by a precise analysis in wave-numbers. Next, we use our results to construct a unique almost periodic solution to the so called "Leray's problem" concerning 3D fluid motion in two semi-infinite cylinders connected by a bounded reservoir. In the case of Ste…
Two boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation in a semi-infinite strip are considered. The main feature of these problems is that, in addition to the function and its normal derivative on the boundary, the functionals of the boundary conditions possess tangential derivatives of the second and fourth orders. Also, the setting of the problems is complimented by certain edge conditions at the two vertices of the semi-strip. The problems model wave propagation in a semi-infinite waveguide with membrane and plate walls. A technique for the exact solution of these fluid-structure interactio…
Through Borel summation methods, we analyze two different variations of the Navier-Stokes equation --the Boussinesq equation and the magnetic Benard equation. This method has previously been applied to the Navier-Stokes equation. We prove that an equivalent system of integral equations in each case has a unique solution, which is exponentially bounded for p in R^{+}, p being the Laplace dual variable of 1/t. This implies the local existence of a classical solution in a complex t-region that includes a real positive time (t)-axis segment. In this formalism, global existence of PDE solutions bec…
In this paper, we study a hyperbolic version of the Navier-Stokes equations, obtained by using the approximation by relaxation of the Euler system, evolving in a thin strip domain. The formal limit of these equations is a hyperbolic Prandtl type equation, our goal is to prove the existence and uniqueness of a global solution to these equations for analytic initial data in the tangential variable, under a uniform smallness assumption. Then we justify the limit from the anisotropic hyperbolic Navier-Stokes system to the hydrostatic hyperbolic Navier-Stokes system with small analytic data.
We consider space-periodic evolutionary and travelling-wave solutions to the regularised long-wave equation (RLWE) with damping and forcing. We establish existence, uniqueness and smoothness of the evolutionary solutions for smooth initial conditions, and global in time spatial analyticity of such solutions for analytical initial conditions. The width of the analyticity strip decays at most polynomially. We prove existence of travelling-wave solutions and uniqueness of travelling waves of a sufficiently small norm. The importance of damping is demonstrated by showing that the problem of findin…
This paper establishes isomorphisms for the Laplace operator in weighted Sobolev spaces (WSS). These spaces are similar to standard Sobolev spaces, but they are endowed with weights prescribing functions growth or decay at infinity. Although well established in the whole space, these weighted results do not apply in the specific hypothesis of periodicity. This kind of problem appears when studying singularly perturbed domains (roughness, sieves, porous media, etc). When zooming on a single perturbation pattern, one often ends with a periodic problem set on an infinite strip. We present a unifi…
In this paper we discuss the controllability of two-point boundary value problem (TBVP) for one-dimensional wave equation. Some new concepts are introduced: TBVP input control problem, minimum-input solution (MS) and pre-minimum-input solution (PMS). We set the metric in $L^1$ and $L^2$ spaces on a closed set, and control the input to reach its minimum. And we mainly discuss the property of input, the existence and uniqueness of MS and PMS for $L^1$ and $L^2$ metric respectively. The minimum inputs lie on a strip in $L^1$ and PMS for $L^1$ and $L^2$ always exists. Furthermore, to construct PMS…
