We investigate how quantum dynamics affects the propagation of a scalar field in Lorentzian AdS. We work in momentum space, in which the propagator admits two spectral representations (denoted "conformal" and "momentum") in addition to a closed-form one, and all have a simple split structure. Focusing on scalar bubbles, we compute the imaginary part of the self-energy $ {\rm Im} Π$ in the three representations, which involves the evaluation of seemingly very different objects. We explicitly prove their equivalence in any dimension, and derive some elementary and asymptotic properties of $ {\rm Im} Π$.
Using a WKB-like approach in the timelike region, we evaluate the propagator dressed with the imaginary part of the self-energy. We find that the dressing from loops exponentially dampens the propagator when one of the endpoints is in the IR region, rendering this region opaque to propagation. This suppression may have implications for field-theoretical model-building in AdS. We argue that in the effective theory (EFT) paradigm, opacity of the IR region induced by higher dimensional operators censors the region of EFT breakdown. This confirms earlier expectations from the literature. Specializing to AdS$_5$, we determine a universal contribution to opacity from gravity.
We consider quantum field theory in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter background, possibly truncated by 4d branes. In the Euclidian version of this space, it is known that propagators exponentially decay when they go far enough towards the Poincaré horizon, i.e. deep enough into the IR region of the AdS bulk. In this note we show that an analogous property exists in Lorentzian AdS. The exponential suppression is found to occur in the presence of bulk interactions dressing the AdS propagators. We calculate one-loop gravitational dressing and find that the suppression effect comes from the scala…
We calculate the expectation value of one circular Wilson loop and the correlator of two concentric circular Wilson loops in AdS/QCD using the modified AdS_5-metric given in Ref.[1]. The confinement properties of this metric in AdS/QCD are analyzed and compared with QCD and Nambu-Goto theory in four dimensions.
We use AdS/QCD to analyze the quark and gluon scalar and pseudo-scalar condensates around static color sources described by a circular Wilson loop. We also derive the static dipole-dipole interactions between rectangular Wilson loops in AdS/QCD and discuss their relevance for static string interactions in QCD at strong coupling.
The minimization of the Nambu-Goto action for a surface whose contour defines a circular Wilson loop of radius a placed at a finite value of the coordinate orthogonal to the boundary is considered. This is done for asymptotically AdS spaces. The condensates of even dimension $n=2$ through $10$ are calculated in terms of the coefficient of $a^{n}$ in the expansion of the on-shell subtracted Nambu-Goto action for small $a$ The subtraction employed is such that it presents no conflict with conformal invariance in the AdS case and need not introduce an additional infrared scale for the case of con…
We compute a family of scalar loop diagrams in $AdS$. We use the spectral representation to derive various bulk vertex/propagator identities, and these identities enable to reduce certain loop bubble diagrams to lower loop diagrams, and often to tree-level exchange or contact diagrams. An important example is the computation of the finite coupling 4-point function of the large-$N$ conformal $O(N)$ model on $AdS_3$. Remarkably, the re-summation of bubble diagrams is equal to a tree-level contact diagram: the $\bar{D}_{1,1,\frac{3}{2},\frac{3}{2}} (z,\bar z)$ function. Another example is a scala…
We compute the one-loop world-sheet correction to partition function of $AdS_5 \times S^5$ superstring that should be representing $k$-fundamental circular Wilson loop in planar limit. The 2d metric of the minimal surface ending on $k$-wound circle at the boundary is that of a cone of $AdS_2$ with deficit $2π(1-k)$. We compute determinants of 2d fluctuation operators by first constructing heat kernels of scalar and spinor Laplacians on the cone using the Sommerfeld formula. The final expression for the k-dependent part of the one-loop correction has simple integral representation but is differ…
We study the holographic dual string configuration of 1/2 BPS circular Wilson loops in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory by using the global coordinate of AdS. The dual string worldsheet is given by the Poincare disk AdS_2 sitting at a constant global time slice of AdS_5. We also analyze the correlator of two concentric circular Wilson loops from the global AdS perspective and study the phase transition associated with the instability of annulus worldsheet connecting the two Wilson loops.
We investigate the lightlike limit of stationary spacelike string configurations on a large class of five-dimensional asymptotically AdS backgrounds. Specific examples include gravity duals which incorporate finite 't Hooft coupling, curvature-squared corrections, and chemical potentials. A universal feature of these AdS/CFT models is that the string solution with minimum action yields a lightlike Wilson loop whose leading behavior is exponentially linear, rather than quadratic, in the width of the loop. Unless there is a compelling reason for discarding the leading saddlepoint contribution to…
The strong subadditivity is the most important inequality which entanglement entropy satisfies. Based on the AdS/CFT conjecture, entanglement entropy in CFT is equal to the area of the minimal surface in AdS space. It is known that a Wilson loop can also be holographically computed from the minimal surface in AdS space. In this paper, we argue that Wilson loops also satisfy a similar inequality, and find several evidences of it.
It is proven that the pure spinor superstring in an AdS_5 x S^5 background remains conformally invariant at one loop level in the sigma model perturbation theory.
We compute the conformal anomalies of boundary CFTs for scalar and fermionic fields propagating in AdS spacetime at one-loop. The coefficients are quantized, with values related to the mass-spectra for Kaluza-Klein compactifications of Supergravity on AdS5xS5 and AdS7xS4. Our approach interprets the boundary partition function of fields propagating on AdS spacetime in terms of wave-functionals that satisfy the functional Schrodinger equation.
The Wilson loop in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory admits a dual description as a macroscopic string configuration in the adS/CFT correspondence. We discuss the correction to the quark anti-quark potential arising from the fluctuations of the superstring.
In this paper we consider Witten diagrams at one loop in AdS space for scalar $ϕ^3+ϕ^4$ theory. After using Schwinger parametrization to trivialize the space-time loop integration, we extract the Mellin-Barnes representation for the one-loop corrections to the four-particle scattering up to an integration over the Schwinger parameters corresponding to the propagators of the internal particles running into the loop. We then discuss an approach to deal with those integrals.
In hep-th/9803002, Maldacena argued that in the light of the AdS/CFT correspondence as formulated by Witten and Gubser, Klebanov and Polyakov as a relation between partition functions, the expectation value of the Wilson loop in $\cal N$=4 SU(N) SYM is given by the worldsheet partition function with the action formulated on an $AdS_5\times S^5$ background and the world sheet ending on the loop on the boundary of $AdS_5$. What we propose to do in this paper is to provide some alternative arguments as to why it should be so.
In this paper we explore some of the features of a heavy quark-antiquark pair at finite temperature using a five-dimensional framework nowadays known as AdS/QCD. We shall show that the resulting behavior is consistent with our qualitative expectations of thermal gauge theory. Some of the results are in good agreement with the lattice data that provides additional evidence for the validity of the proposed model.
We consider $α'$ corrections to the one-loop four-point correlator of the stress-tensor multiplet in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills at order $1/N^4$. Holographically, this is dual to string corrections of the one-loop supergravity amplitude on AdS$_5\times$S$^5$. While this correlator has been considered in Mellin space before, we derive the corresponding position space results, gaining new insights into the analytic structure of AdS loop-amplitudes. Most notably, the presence of a transcendental weight three function involving new singularities is required, which has not appeared in the con…
We revisit the computation of the 1-loop string correction to the "latitude" minimal surface in $AdS_5 \times S^5$ representing 1/4 BPS Wilson loop in planar $\cal N$=4 SYM theory previously addressed in arXiv:1512.00841 and arXiv:1601.04708. We resolve the problem of matching with the subleading term in the strong coupling expansion of the exact gauge theory result (derived previously from localization) using a different method to compute determinants of 2d string fluctuation operators. We apply perturbation theory in a small parameter (angle of the latitude) corresponding to an expansion nea…
We study the AdS_5 x S^5 sigma-model truncated to the near-flat-space limit to two-loops in perturbation theory. In addition to extending previously known one-loop results to the full SU(2|2)^2 S-matrix we calculate the two-loop correction to the dispersion relation and then compute the complete two-loop S-matrix. The result of the perturbative calculation can be compared with the appropriate limit of the conjectured S-matrix for the full theory and complete agreement is found.
We consider the strong coupling limit of conformal gauge theories in 4 dimensions. The action of the loop operator on the minimal area in the AdS space is analyzed, and the Schwinger-Dyson equations of gauge theory are checked. The general approach to the loop dynamics developed here goes beyond the special case of conformal theories.
We continue the study of AdS loop amplitudes in the spectral representation and in position space. We compute the finite coupling 4-point function in position space for the large-$N$ conformal Gross Neveu model on $AdS_3$. The resummation of loop bubble diagrams gives a result proportional to a tree-level contact diagram. We show that certain families of fermionic Witten diagrams can be easily computed from their companion scalar diagrams. Thus, many of the results and identities of [1] are extended to the case of external fermions. We derive a spectral representation for ladder diagrams in Ad…
We develop a systematic approach to evaluating AdS loop amplitudes based on the spectral (or "split") representation of bulk-to-bulk propagators, which re-expresses loop diagrams in terms of spectral integrals and higher-point tree diagrams. In this work we focus on 2pt one-loop Witten diagrams involving totally symmetric fields of arbitrary mass and integer spin. As an application of this framework, we study the contribution to the anomalous dimension of higher-spin currents generated by bubble diagrams in higher-spin gauge theories on AdS.
We study the Wilson loops and defects in the three dimensional QFT from the D-branes in the AdS(4) x CP**3 geometry. We find out explicit D-brane configurations in the bulk which correspond to both straight and circular Wilson lines extended to the boundary of AdS(4). We analyze critically the role of boundary contributions to the D2-branes with various topology and to the fundamental string actions.
A previous calculation of the phase transition in the Wilson loop correlator in the zero temperature AdS/CFT correspondence is extended to the case where the loops are concentric circles of unequal radii. This phase transition occurs due to the instability of the classical string stretched between the loops. We compute the string action and its expansion in the distance h between the loops for small h. We also find that the connected minimal surface is subleading or does not even exist when h=0 and the radii are considerably different. This feature has no analogue in flat space.
The AdS/CFT correspondence predicts a phase transition in Wilson loop correlators in the strong coupling N=4, D=4 SYM theory which arises due to instability of the classical string stretched between the loops. We study this transition in detail by solving equations of motion for the string in the particular case of two circular Wilson loops. The transition is argued to be smoothened at finite `t Hooft coupling by fluctuations of the string world sheet and to be promoted to a sharp crossover. Some general comments about Wilson loop correlators in gauge theories are made.
We discuss the string corrections to one-loop amplitudes in AdS$_5\times$S$^5$, focussing on their expressions in Mellin space. We present the leading $(α')^3$ corrections to the family of correlators $\langle \mathcal{O}_2 \mathcal{O}_2 \mathcal{O}_p \mathcal{O}_p \rangle$ at one loop and begin the exploration of the form of correlators with multiple channels. From these correlators we extract some string corrections to one-loop anomalous dimensions of families of operators of low twist.
As was shown earlier, one-loop correction in 10d supergravity on AdS_5 x S^5 corresponds to the contributions to the vacuum energy and boundary 4d conformal anomaly which are minus the values for one n=4 Maxwell supermultiplet, thus reproducing the subleading term in their N^2-1 coefficient in the dual SU(N) SYM theory. We perform similar one-loop computations in 11d supergravity on AdS_7 x S^4 and 10d supergravity on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4. In the AdS_7 case we find that the corrections to the 6d conformal anomaly a-coefficient and the vacuum energy are again minus the ones for one (2,0) tensor mu…
In this paper, we first compute the Killing spinors of $AdS_4\times Q^{1, 1, 1}$ and its certain orbifolds. Based on this, two classes of $M2$-brane solutions are found. The first class of solutions includes $M2$-branes dual to Wilson loops in the fundamental representation as special cases. The second class includes the candidates of the holographic description of vortex loops in the dual field theories.
For the asymptotic string solution in AdS_3 which is represented by the AdS_3 Poincare coordinates and yields the planar multi-gluon scattering amplitude at strong coupling in arXiv:0904.0663, we express it by the AdS_4 Poincare coordinates and demonstrate that the hexagonal and octagonal Wilson loops surrounding the string surfaces take closed contours consisting of null vectors in R^{1,2} owing to the relations of Stokes matrices. For the tetragonal Wilson loop we construct a string solution characterized by two parameters by solving the auxiliary linear problems and demanding a reality cond…
We use the string sigma model action in AdS_5 \times S^5 to reconstruct the open string solution ending on the Wilson loop in S^3\times R parametrized by a geometric angle in S^3 and an angle in flavor space. Under the interchange of the world sheet space and time coordinates and the T-duality transformation with the radial inversion, the static open string configuration associated with the BPS Wilson loop with two equal angle parameters becomes a long open spinning string configuration which is produced by taking the equal limit of two frequencies for the folded spinning closed string with tw…
Wilson loops are calculated within the AdS/CFT correspondence by finding a classical solution to the string equations of motion in AdS_5 x S^5 and evaluating its action. An important fact is that this sigma-model used to evaluate the Wilson loops is integrable, a feature that has gained relevance through the study of spinning strings carrying large quantum numbers and spin-chains. We apply the same techniques used to solve the equations for spinning strings to find the minimal surfaces describing a wide class of Wilson loops. We focus on different cases with periodic boundary conditions on the…
We reconsider the calculation of the one-loop effective action for an open Green-Schwarz superstring in the $AdS_5\times S^5$ background for a circular boundary loop. By an explicit computation of the ratio of relevant determinants, describing semi-classical fluctuations about the minimal surface in AdS and flat spaces, we show that it does not depend upon the AdS regularizing parameter $ε$. The only dependence upon $ε$ resides in the reparametrization path integral of the exponential of the classical boundary action. We analyze how the result depends on the choice of the boundary condition im…
We analyze the folded spinning string in AdS_4 x P^3 with spin S in AdS_4 and angular momentum J in P^3. We calculate the one-loop correction to its energy in the scaling limit of both ln S and J large with their ratio kept fixed. This result should correspond to the first subleading strong coupling correction to the anomalous dimension of operators of the type Tr(D^S(Y^\dagger Y)^J) in the dual N=6 Chern-Simons-matter theory. Our result appears to depart from the predictions for the generalized scaling function found from the all-loop Bethe equations conjectured for this AdS_4/CFT_3 duality. …
An analysis of the structure and singularities of the one loop two point function of the higher spin traceless and conserved currents constructed from the single scalar field in $AdS$ space is presented. The detailed renormalization procedure is constructed and the quantum violation of the traceless Ward identity is investigated. The connection with the one loop effective action for higher spin gauge fields is discussed.
We compute one-loop S-matrix in the reduced sigma-model which describes AdS_5 x S^5 string theory in the near-flat-space limit. The result agrees with the corresponding limit of the S-matrix in the full sigma-model, which demonstrates the consistency of the reduction at the quantum level.
We give a short introduction to and a partial review of the work on the calculation of Wilson loops and $Q\bar Q$-potentials via the conjectured AdS/CFT duality. Included is a discussion of the relative weight of the stringy correction to the target space background versus the correction by the quantum fluctuations of the string world sheet.
We obtain the all-loop worldsheet S matrix for fundamental excitations on AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 by studying the off-shell symmetry algebra of the superspace action in lightcone gauge. The massless modes, unaccounted for in earlier works, are automatically included in our treatment. Their exact dispersion relation is found to be non-relativistic, of giant-magnon form and their scattering is naturally well-defined. This opens the way to a complete investigation of AdS_3/CFT_2 integrability.
Based on an extension of the holographic principle to superspace, we provide a strong-coupling description of smooth super Wilson loops in terms of minimal surfaces of the $AdS_5 \times S^5$ superstring. We employ the classical integrability of the Green-Schwarz superstring on $AdS_5 \times S^5$ to derive the superconformal and Yangian $Y[\mathfrak{psu}(2,2|4)]$ Ward identities for the super Wilson loop, thus extending the strong coupling results obtained for the Maldacena-Wilson loop. In the course of the derivation, we determine the minimal surface solution up to third order in an expansion …
Anomalous dimension of the simplest nontrivial single impurity operator in the beta=1/2 deformed theory is determined at six loops from the AdS/CFT correspondence. Lüscher correction is evaluated at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in terms of multiple zeta values. The result can be simplified into the products of simple zeta functions and the same form of the correction is expected for the Konishi operator at six loops, too.
We report a result for the third-order correction in $1/N$ expansion to the four-point correlator of the stress tensor multiplet in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang--Mills theory at large 't Hooft coupling, which corresponds to the two-loop scattering of four gravitons in the dual $\mathrm{AdS}_5\times\mathrm{S}^5$ supergravity. This is obtained by bootstrapping an educated ansatz based on intuitions from the hidden 10-dimensional conformal symmetry.
We evaluate the exact one-loop partition function for fundamental strings whose world-surface ends on a cusp at the boundary of AdS_4 and has a "jump" in CP^3. This allows us to extract the stringy prediction for the ABJM generalized cusp anomalous dimension Gamma_{cusp}^{ABJM} (phi, theta) up to NLO in sigma-model perturbation theory. With a similar analysis, we present the exact partition functions for folded closed string solutions moving in the AdS_3 parts of AdS_4 x CP^3 and AdS_3 x S^3 x S^3 x S^1 backgrounds. Results are obtained applying to the string solutions relevant for the AdS_4/CF…
We compute the heat kernel for the Laplacians of symmetric transverse traceless fields of arbitrary spin on the $AdS$ background in even number of dimensions using the group theoretic approach introduced in \cite{Gopakumar:2011qs} and apply it on the partition function of six dimensional conformal gravity. The obtained partition function consists of the Einstein gravity, conformal ghost and two modes that contain mass.
We compute the full one-loop 2-particle S-matrix for excitations of the type IIB AdS(3) x S(3) x T(4) BMN string. The S-matrix is found to respect the expected symmetries and the phases are consistent with the crossing equations. By analyzing how the relevant integrals scale with the IR regulator we show that scattering of massless bosons is trivial at two loops. Based on our results we argue that the additional su(2) S-matrix appearing in the massless sector in the exact solution should trivialize.
We calculate the difference of one-loop vacuum energies for massive scalar field in five-dimensional AdS black hole. (The same is done in five-dimensional deSitter space). In each case this difference is specified by the boundary conditions corresponding to the double-trace operator (massive term) and it describes RG flow in the manner discussed by Gubser-Mitra for pure AdS space. For AdS black hole there occurs instability which is the manifestation of the Hawking-Page phase transition. For stable phase of AdS black hole as well as for deSitter bulk, c-function found beyond the leading order …
Recent progresses in the computation of quantum string corrections to holographic Wilson loops are extended to the case of strings in $AdS_{4}\times CP^{3}$. For this, the ratio of 1/2-BPS circular and 1/6-BPS latitude fermionic Wilson loops in ABJM is considered at strong coupling by studying the corresponding semiclassical string partition functions. Explicit evaluation of fluctuation determinants using phaseshifts and diffeomorphism invariant regulators leads to exact matching with the recent field theory proposal. Key to this computation is the choice of boundary conditions for massless fe…
The spin-field interaction is considered, in the context of the gauge fields/string correspondence, in the large 't Hooft coupling limit. The latter can be viewed as a WKB-type approximation to the AdS/CFT duality conjecture. Basic theoretical objects entering the present study are (a) the Wilson loop functional, on the gauge field side and (b) the sigma model action for the string propagating in AdS$_5$. Spin effects are introduced in a worldline setting, via the spin factor for a particle entity propagating on a Wilson loop contour. The computational tools employed for conducting the relevan…
We show that the one-loop partition function of any higher spin field in $(d+1)$-dimensional Anti-de Sitter spacetime can be expressed as an integral transform of an $\text{SO}(2,d)$ bulk character and an $\text{SO}(2,d-2)$ edge character. We apply this character integral formula to various higher-spin Vasiliev gravities and find miraculous (almost) cancellations between bulk and edge characters that lead to agreement with the predictions of HS/CFT holography. We also discuss about the relation between the character integral representation and Rindler-AdS thermal partition function.
We derive an exact analytical expression for the one-loop partition function of a string in AdS_5xS^5 background with world-surface ending on two anti-parallel lines. All quantum fluctuations are shown to be governed by integrable, single-gap Lame' operators. The first strong coupling correction to the quark-antiquark potential, as defined in N=4 SYM, is derived as the sum of known mathematical constants and a one-dimensional integral representation. Its full numerical value can be given with arbitrary precision and confirms a previous result.
We study the two circular Wilson loop correlator in which one is of anti-symmetric representation, while the other is of fundamental representation in 4-dimensional ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory. This correlator has a good AdS dual, which is a system of a D5-brane and a fundamental string. We calculated the on-shell action of the string, and clarified the Gross-Ooguri transition in this correlator. Some limiting cases are also examined.
We demonstrate the simplicity of $AdS_5\times S^5$ IIB supergravity at one loop level, by studying non-planar holographic four-point correlators in Mellin space. We develop a systematic algorithm for constructing one-loop Mellin amplitudes from tree-level data, and obtain a simple closed form answer for the $\langle \mathcal{O}_2^{SG}\mathcal{O}_2^{SG}\mathcal{O}_p^{SG}\mathcal{O}_p^{SG} \rangle$ correlators. The structure of this expression is remarkably simple, containing only simultaneous poles in the Mellin variables. We also study the flat space limit of the Mellin amplitudes, which repro…
We revisit the subject of one-loop determinants in AdS$_3$ gravity via the quasinormal mode method. Our goal is to evaluate a one-loop determinant with chiral boundary conditions for the metric field; chirality is achieved by imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions on certain components while others satisfy Neumann. Along the way, we give a generalization of the quasinormal mode method for stationary (non-static) thermal backgrounds, and propose a treatment for Neumann boundary conditions in this framework. We evaluate the graviton one-loop determinant on the Euclidean BTZ background with parit…
We consider holographic CFTs and study their large $N$ expansion. We use Polyakov-Mellin bootstrap to extract the CFT data of all operators, including scalars, till $O(1/N^4)$. We add a contact term in Mellin space, which corresponds to an effective $ϕ^4$ theory in AdS and leads to anomalous dimensions for scalars at $O(1/N^2)$. Using this we fix $O(1/N^4)$ anomalous dimensions for double trace operators finding perfect agreement with \cite{loopal} (for $Δ_ϕ=2$). Our approach generalizes this to any dimensions and any value of conformal dimensions of external scalar field. In the second part o…
We study Wilson loops in N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons theory with gauge group $U(M) \times \bar{U(N)}$ that is dual to N M2-branes and (M-N) fractional M2-branes, equivalently, discrete 3-form holonomy at C4/Zk orbifold singularity. We give description of these Wilson loops in terms of macroscopic fundamental string and D6-branes in the dual AdS$_4\times$ CP$^3$ geometry with NS-NS B field turned on over CP$^1 \subset$ CP$^3$.
We consider a computation of one-loop AdS_5 x S^5 superstring correction to the energy radiated by the end-point of a string which moves along a wavy line at the boundary of AdS_5 with a small transverse acceleration (the corresponding classical solution was described by Mikhailov in hep-th/0305196). We also compute the one-loop effective action for an arbitrary small transverse string fluctuation background. It is related by an analytic continuation to the Euclidean effective action describing one-loop correction to the expectation value of a wavy Wilson line. We show that both the one-loop c…
We describe a systematic approach for the evaluation of Witten diagrams for multi-loop scattering amplitudes of a conformally coupled scalar $ϕ^4$-theory in Euclidean AdS$_4$, by recasting the Witten diagrams as flat space Feynman integrals. We derive closed form expressions for the anomalous dimensions for all double-trace operators up to the second order in the coupling constant. We explain the relation between the flat space unitarity methods and the discontinuities of the short distance expansion on the boundary of Witten diagrams.
We revisit the calculation of one-loop corrections to the partition functions of a string ending on a circular or straight line in type IIB string theory on $AdS_3\times S^3 \times T^4$ supported by a mixture of 3-form fluxes depending on a parameter $q$ (with $q=0$ being R-R and $q=1$ pure NS-NS cases). Correcting earlier results in the literature, we find that the partition function depends on $q$ only through rescaled tension $T= T_0/(1-q^2)$.
We study the four point function of the superconformal primary of the stress-tensor multiplet in four dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super Yang Mills, at large 't Hooft coupling and in a large $N$ expansion. This observable is holographically dual to four graviton amplitudes in type IIB supergravity on $AdS_5 \times S^5$. We construct the most trascendental piece of the correlator at order $N^{-6}$ and compare it with the flat space limit of the corresponding two loops amplitude. This comparison allows us to conjecture structures of the correlator/amplitude which should be present at any loop ord…
We initiate the calculation of quantum corrections to Wilson loops in a class of four-dimensional defect conformal field theories with vacuum expectation values based on N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. Concretely, we consider an infinite straight Wilson line, obtaining explicit results for the one-loop correction to its expectation value in the large-N limit. This allows us to extract the particle-interface potential of the theory. In a further double-scaling limit, we compare our results to those of a previous calculation in the dual string-theory set-up consisting of a D5-D3 probe-brane system …
We discuss a Coulomb gas realization of $n$-point correlation functions in the $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) model that is suitable to compute scattering amplitudes of winding strings in 3-dimensional Anti-de Sitter space at tree-level and one-loop. This is a refined version of previously proposed free-field realizations that, among other features, accomplishes to make the $H_3^+$ WZW-Liouville correspondence manifest.
