We study the asymptotic behavior of the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant associated with the square of the $n$-th root of unity with odd $n$ for a Seifert fibered space obtained by an integral Dehn surgery along a torus knot. We show that it can be described as a sum of the Chern-Simons invariants and the twisted Reidemeister torsions both associated with representations of the fundamental group to the two-dimensional complex special linear group.
Exceptional Dehn surgeries have been classified for 2-bridge knots and Montesinos knots of length at least 4. In this paper we classify all toroidal Dehn surgeries on Montesinos knots of length 3.

We show that there exist infinitely many hyperbolic knots which attain the conjectural maximum number. Interestingly, those surgeries correspond to consecutive integers.

A knot in the 3-sphere is called an L--space knot if it admits a nontrivial Dehn surgery yielding an L--space. We give a concrete example of a hyperbolic, L-space knot which has no exceptional surgeries, in particular, no Seifert fibered surgeries.

A pair of surgeries on a knot is chirally cosmetic if they result in homeomorphic manifolds with opposite orientations. Using recent methods of Ichihara, Ito, and Saito, we show that, except for the (2,5) and (2,7)-torus knots, the genus 2 and 3 alternating odd pretzel knots do not admit any chirally cosmetic surgeries. Further, we show that for a fixed genus, at most finitely many alternating odd pretzel knots admit chirally cosmetic surgeries.

We give sufficient conditions for a satellite knot to admit an L-space surgery, and use this result to give new infinite families of patterns which produce satellite L-space knots.
We give a complete classification of toroidal Seifert fibered surgeries on alternating knots. Precisely, we show that if an alternating knot admits a toroidal Seifert fibered surgery, then the knot is either the trefoil knot and the surgery slope is zero, or the connected sum of a (2,p)-torus knot and a (2,q)-torus knot and the surgery slope is 2(p+q) with |p|, |q| at least three.
We show that if a surgery on a knot in a product sutured manifold yields the same product sutured manifold, then this knot is a 0-- or 1--crossing knot. The proof uses techniques from sutured manifold theory.
We find an infinite family of Seifert fibered surgeries on strongly invertible knots which do not have primitive/Seifert positions. Each member of the family is obtained from a trefoil knot after alternate twists along a pair of seiferters for a Seifert fibered surgery on a trefoil knot.
Two Dehn surgeries on a knot are called {\it purely cosmetic}, if they yield manifolds that are homeomorphic as oriented manifolds. Suppose there exist purely cosmetic surgeries on a knot in $S^3$, we show that the two surgery slopes must be the opposite of each other. One ingredient of our proof is a Dehn surgery formula for correction terms in Heegaard Floer homology.
In this paper, we prove that there are no truly cosmetic surgeries on genus one classical knots. If the two surgery slopes have the same sign, we give the only possibilities of reflectively cosmetic surgeries. The result is an application of Heegaard Floer theory and number theory.
We construct a 1-parameter family of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbf{R})$ representations of the pretzel knot $P(-2,3,7)$. As a consequence, we conclude that Dehn surgeries on this knot are left-orderable for all rational surgery slopes less than 6. Furthermore, we discuss a family of knots and exhibit similar orderability results for a few other examples.
We consider the question of when a slice knot admits a reducible Dehn surgery. By analyzing the correction terms associated to such a surgery, we show that slice knots cannot admit surgeries with more than two summands. We also give a necessary Heegaard Floer theoretic condition for a positive cable of a knot to be slice.
We show that a special alternating knot with sufficiently large number (more than $63$) of twist regions has no chirally cosmetic surgeries, a pair of Dehn surgeries producing orientation-reversingly homeomorphic $3$-manifolds. In the course of proof, we provide the optimal upper bounds of the primitive finite type invariants of degree 2 and 3 that solve Willerton's conjecture.
A rational homology sphere whose Heegaard Floer homology is the same as that of a lens space is called an L-space. We classify pretzel knots with any number of tangles which admit L-space surgeries. This rests on Gabai's classification of fibered pretzel links.
We show that two-bridge knots and alternating fibered knots admit no purely cosmetic surgeries, i.e., no pair of distinct Dehn surgeries on such a knot produce 3-manifolds that are homeomorphic as oriented manifolds. Our argument, based on a recent result by Hanselman, uses several invariants of knots or 3-manifolds; for knots, we study the signature and some finite type invariants, and for 3-manifolds, we deploy the $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ Casson invariant.
In this paper, we study reducible surgeries on knots in $S^3$. We develop thickness bounds for L-space knots that admit reducible surgeries, and lower bounds on the slice genus for general knots that admit reducible surgeries. The L-space knot thickness bounds allow us to finish off the verification of the Cabling Conjecture for thin knots, which was mostly worked out in \cite{DeY21b}. We also provide a new upper bound on reducing slopes for fibered, hyperbolic slice knots and on multiple reducing slopes for slice knots. We establish an upper bound $ω(p/q)$ on the complexity of manifolds obtained by $p/q$-surgeries on the figure eight knot. It turns out that if $ω(p/q)\leqslant 12$, the bound is sharp.
We classify Dehn surgeries on (p,q,r) pretzel knots resulting in a manifold M(s) having cyclic fundamental group and analyze those leading to a finite fundamental group. The proof uses the theory of cyclic and finite surgeries developed by Culler, Shalen, Boyer, and Zhang. In particular, Culler-Shalen seminorms play a central role.
Let $M$ be a $\mathbb{Q}$-homology solid torus. In this paper, we give a cohomological criterion for the existence of an interval of left-orderable Dehn surgeries on $M$. We apply this criterion to prove that the two-bridge knot that corresponds to the continued fraction $[1,1,2,2,2j]$ for $j\geq 1$ admits an interval of left-orderable Dehn surgeries. This family of two-bridge knots gives some positive evidence for a question of Xinghua Gao.
We show that on a hyperbolic knot $K$ in $S^3$, the distance between any two finite surgery slopes is at most two and consequently there are at most three nontrivial finite surgeries. Moreover in case that $K$ admits three nontrivial finite surgeries, $K$ must be the pretzel knot $P(-2,3,7)$. For a hyperbolic knot in the 3-sphere, at most finitely many Dehn surgeries yield non-hyperbolic 3-manifolds. As a typical case of such an exceptional surgery, a toroidal surgery is one that yields a closed 3-manifold containing an incompressible torus. The slope corresponding to a toroidal surgery, called a toroidal slope, is known to be integral or half-integral. We show that the distance between two integral toroidal slopes for a hyperbolic knot, except the figure-eight knot, is at most four. Hence any hyperbolic knot admits at most 5 toroidal surgeries.

The Seifert Surgery Network is a 1-dimensional complex whose vertices correspond to Seifert surgeries; its edges correspond to single twistings along "seiferters" or "annular pairs of seiferters". We classify which positive integral surgeries on positive torus knots bound rational homology balls. Additionally, for a given knot K we consider which cables K(p,q) admit integral surgeries that bound rational homology balls. For such cables, let S(K) be the set of corresponding rational numbers q/p. We show that S(K) is bounded for each K. Moreover, if n-surgery on K bounds a rational homology ball then n is an accumulation point for S(K).
Following the classification of genus one fibered knots in lens spaces by Baker, we determine hyperbolic genus one fibered knots in lens spaces on whose all integral Dehn surgeries yield closed 3-manifolds with left-orderable fundamental groups.
We give a complete description of exceptional surgeries on pretzel knots of type $(-2, p, p)$ with $p \ge 5$. It is known that such a knot admits a unique toroidal surgery yielding a toroidal manifold with a unique incompressible torus. By cutting along the torus, we obtain two connected components, one of which is a twisted $I$-bundle over the Klein bottle. We show that the other is homeomorphic to the one obtained by certain Dehn filling on the magic manifold. On the other hand, we show that all such pretzel knots admit no Seifert fibered surgeries.
We classify Dehn surgeries on (p,q,r) pretzel knots that result in a manifold of finite fundamental group. The only hyperbolic pretzel knots that admit non-trivial finite surgeries are (-2,3,7) and (-2,3,9). Agol and Lackenby's 6-theorem reduces the argument to knots with small indices p,q,r. We treat these using the Culler-Shalen norm of the SL(2,C)-character variety. In particular, we introduce new techniques for demonstrating that boundary slopes are detected by the character variety.
We show that the distance of a link $K$ with respect to a bridge surface of any genus determines a lower bound on the genus of essential surfaces and Heegaard surfaces in the manifolds that result from non-trivial Dehn surgeries on the knot. In particular, knots with high bridge distance do not admit non-trivial non-hyperbolic surgeries or non-trivial cosmetic surgeries. We discuss various constraints for knots in $S^{3}$ to admit chirally cosmetic surgeries, derived from invariants of 3-manifolds, such as, the quantum $SO(3)$-invariant, the rank of the Heegaard Floer homology, and finite type invariants. We apply them to show that a large portion (roughly 75$\%$) of knots which are neither amphicheiral nor $(2,p)$-torus knots with less than or equal to 10 crossings admits no chirally cosmetic surgeries.
We show some computations on representations of the fundamental group in SL(2;C) and Reidemeister torsion for a homology 3-sphere obtained by Dehn surgery along the figure-eight knot. This is the second version. We recorrected several errors in the first version.

This paper provides two obstructions to small knot complements in $S^3$ admitting hidden symmetries. The first obstruction is being cyclically commensurable with another knot complement. This result provides a partial answer to a conjecture of Boileau, Boyer, Cebanu, and Walsh. We also provide a second obstruction to admitting hidden symmetries in the case where a small knot complement covers a manifold admitting some symmetry and at least two exceptional surgeries.

We show that a knot has a non left-orderable surgery if the knot group admits a generalized Baumslag-Solitar relator and satisfies certain conditions on a longitude of the knot. As an application, it is shown that certain positively twisted torus knots admit non left-orderable surgeries.
Greene, Lewallen and Vafaee characterized $(1,1)$ L-space knots in $S^3$ and lens space in the notation of coherent reduced $(1,1)$-diagrams. We analyze these diagrams, and deduce an explicit description of these knots. With the new description, we prove that any L-space obtained by Dehn surgery on a $(1,1)$-knot in $S^3$ has non-left-orderable fundamental group.
We show that the fundamental group of the $3$-manifold obtained by $\frac{p}{q}$-surgery along the $(n-2)$-twisted $(3,3m+2)$-torus knot, with $n,m \ge 1$, is not left-orderable if $\frac{p}{q} \ge 2n + 6m-3$ and is left-orderable if $\frac{p}{q}$ is sufficiently close to $0$.
