For any triple of positive integers $A' = (a_1',a_2',a_3')$ and $c \in \mathbb{C}^*$, cusp polynomial $f_{A'} = x_1^{a_1'}+x_2^{a_2'}+x_3^{a_3'}-c^{-1}x_1x_2x_3$ is known to be mirror to Geigle-Lenzing orbifold projective line $\mathbb{P}^1_{a_1',a_2',a_3'}$. More precisely, with a suitable choice of a primitive form, Frobenius manifold of a cusp polynomial $f_{A'}$, turns out to be isomorphic to the Frobenius manifold of the Gromov-Witten theory of $\mathbb{P}^1_{a_1',a_2',a_3'}$.
In this paper we extend this mirror phenomenon to the equivariant case. Namely, for any $G$ - a symmetry group of a cusp polynomial $f_{A'}$, we introduce the Frobenius manifold of a pair $(f_{A'},G)$ and show that it is isomorphic to the Frobenius manifold of the Gromov-Witten theory of Geigle-Lenzing weighted projective line $\mathbb{P}^1_{A,Λ}$, indexed by another set $A$ and $Λ$, distinct points on $\mathbb{C}\setminus\{0,1\}$.
For some special values of $A'$ with the special choice of $G$ it happens that $\mathbb{P}^1_{A'} \cong \mathbb{P}^1_{A,Λ}$. Combining our mirror symmetry isomorphism for the pair $(A,Λ)$, together with the "usual" one for $A'$, we get certain identities of the coefficients of the Frobenius potentials. We show that these identities are equivalent to the identities between the Jacobi theta constants and Dedekind eta-function.
We prove the Landau-Ginzburg Mirror Symmetry Conjecture at the level of (orbifolded) Frobenius algebras for a large class of invertible singularities, including arbitrary sums of loops and Fermats with arbitrary symmetry groups. Specifically, we show that for a quasi-homogeneous polynomial W and an admissible group G within the class, the Frobenius algebra arising in the FJRW theory of [W/G] is isomorphic (as a Frobenius algebra) to the orbifolded Milnor ring of [W^T/G^T], associated to the dual polynomial W^T and dual group G^T.
In this paper, we study the bigraded vector space structure of Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds. We prove the formula for the generating function of the Hodge numbers of possibly nonabelian Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds. As an application, we calculate the Hodge numbers for all nondegenerate quintic homogeneous polynomials with five variables. These results yield an evidence for the Calabi-Yau/Landau-Ginzburg correspondence between the Calabi-Yau geometries and the Landau-Ginzburg B-models.
We determine a primitive form for a universal unfolding of an affine cusp polynomial. Moreover, we prove that the resulting Frobenius manifold is isomorphic to the one constructed from the Gromov-Witten theory for an orbifold projective line with at most three orbifold points.
We consider the Berglund-Hübsch-Henningson-Takahashi duality of Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds with a symmetry group generated by some diagonal symmetries and some permutations of variables. We study the orbifold Euler characteristics, the orbifold zeta functions and the orbifold E-functions of such dual pairs. We conjecture that we get a mirror symmetry between these invariants even on each level, where we call level the conjugacy class of a permutation. We support this conjecture by giving partial results for each of these invariants.
We discuss the behavior of Landau-Ginzburg models for toric orbifolds near the large volume limit. This enables us to express mirror symmetry as an isomorphism of Frobenius manifolds which aquire logarithmic poles along a boundary divisor. If the toric orbifold admits a crepant resolution we construct a global moduli space on the B-side and show that the associated tt^*-geometry exists globally.
We prove a formula for the variance of the set of exponents of a non-degenerate weighted homogeneous polynomial with an action of a diagonal subgroup of ${\rm SL}_n(\CC)$.
In this paper, we establish the convergence for Gromov-Witten invariant of elliptic orbifold $\mathbb{P}^1$ with type $(3,3,3), (4,4,2)$ and $(6,3,2)$. We also prove the mirror theorems of Gromov-Witten theory for those orbifolds and FJRW theory of elliptic singularities. Using T.Milanov and Y. Ruan's work, we prove the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence of all genera for the above three types of elliptic orbifold $\mathbb{P}^1$.
For a weighted homogeneous polynomial and a choice of a diagonal symmetry group, we define a new Fukaya category for a Landau-Ginzburg orbifold (of Fano or Calabi-Yau type). The construction is based on the wrapped Fukaya category of its Milnor fiber together with the monodromy of the singularity, and it is analogous to the variation operator in singularity theory. The new $\AI$-structure is constructed using popsicle maps with interior insertions of the monodromy orbit. This requires new compactifications of popsicle moduli spaces where conformal structures of some of the spheres and discs ar…
We propose a formula for the exact central charge of a B-type D-brane that is expected to hold in all regions of the Kahler moduli space of a Calabi-Yau. For Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds we propose explicit expressions for the mathematical objects that enter into the central charge formula. We show that our results are consistent with results in FJRW theory and the hemisphere partition function of the gauged linear sigma model.
We consider an orbifold Landau-Ginzburg model $(f,G)$, where $f$ is an invertible polynomial in three variables and $G$ a finite group of symmetries of $f$ containing the exponential grading operator, and its Berglund-Hübsch transpose $(f^T, G^T)$. We show that this defines a mirror symmetry between orbifold curves and cusp singularities with group action. We define Dolgachev numbers for the orbifold curves and Gabrielov numbers for the cusp singularities with group action. We show that these numbers are the same and that the stringy Euler number of the orbifold curve coincides with the $G^T$-…
New geometrical features of the Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds are presented, for models with a typical type of superpotential. We show the one-to-one correspondence between some of the $(a,c)$ states with $U(1)$ charges $(-1,1)$ and the integral points on the dual polyhedra, which are useful tools for the construction of mirror manifolds. Relying on toric geometry, these states are shown to correspond to the $(1,1)$ forms coming from blowing-up processes. In terms of the above identification, it can be checked that the monomial-divisor mirror map for Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds, proposed by the auth…
We consider a pair consisting of an invertible polynomial and a finite abelian group of its symmetries. Berglund, Hübsch, and Henningson proposed a duality between such pairs giving rise to mirror symmetry. We define an orbifoldized signature for such a pair using the orbifoldized elliptic genus. In the case of three variables and based on the homological mirror symmetry picture, we introduce two integral lattices, a transcendental and an algebraic one. We show that these lattices have the same rank and that the signature of the transcendental one is the orbifoldized signature. Finally, we giv…
We construct a spectral sequence that converges to the cohomology of the chiral de Rham complex over a Calabi-Yau hypersurface and whose first term is a vertex algebra closely related to the Landau-Ginburg orbifold. As an application, we prove an explicit orbifold formula for the elliptic genus of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces.
We show that the Frobenius manifold associated to the pair of a cusp singularity and it's canonical primitive form is isomorphic to the one constructed from the Gromov--Witten theory for an orbifold projective line with at most three orbifold points. We also calculate the intersection form of the Frobenius manifold.
FJRW theory is a formulation of physical Landau-Ginzburg models with a rich algebraic structure, rooted in enumerative geometry. As a consequence of a major physical conjecture, called the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence, several birational morphisms of Calabi-Yau orbifolds should correspond to isomorphisms in FJRW theory. In this paper it is shown that not only does this claim prove to be the case, but is a special case of a wider FJRW isomorphism theorem, which in turn allows for a proof of mirror symmetry for a new class of cases in the Landau-Ginzburg setting. We also obtain seve…
We develop an approach to calculating the cup and cap products on Hochschild cohomology and homology of curved algebras associated with polynomials and their finite abelian symmetry groups. For polynomials with isolated critical points, the approach yields a complete description of the products. We also reformulate the result for the corresponding categories of equivariant matrix factorizations. In an Appendix written jointly with Alexey Basalaev, we apply the formulas to calculate the Hochschild cohomology of a simple but non-trivial class of so-called invertible LG orbifold models. The resul…
Landau-Ginzburg mirror symmetry studies isomorphisms between A- and B-models, which are graded Frobenius algebras that are constructed using a weighted homogeneous polynomial $W$ and a related group of symmetries $G$ of $W$. It is known that given two polynomials $W_{1}$, $W_{2}$ with the same weights and same group $G$, the corresponding A-models built with ($W_{1}$,$G$) and ($W_{2}$,$G$) are isomorphic. Though the same result cannot hold in full generality for B-models, which correspond to orbifolded Milnor rings, we provide a partial analogue. In particular, we exhibit conditions where isom…
We present some mathematical aspects of Landau-Ginzburg string vacua in terms of toric geometry. The one-to-one correspondence between toric divisors and some of (-1,1) states in Landau-Ginzburg model is presented for superpotentials of typical types. The Landau-Ginzburg interpretation of non-toric divisors is also presented. Using this interpretation, we propose a method to solve the so-called "twisted sector problem" by orbifold construction. Moreover, this construction shows that the moduli spaces of the original Landau-Ginzburg string vacua and their orbifolds are connected. By considering …
We observe that the state space of Landau-Ginzburg isolated singularities is simply a special case of Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology relative to the generic fibre of the potential. This leads to the definition of the cohomology of hybrid Landau-Ginzburg models and its identification via an explicit isomorphism to the cohomology of Calabi-Yau complete intersections inside weighted projective spaces. The combinatorial method used in the case of hypersurfaces proven by the first named author in collaboration with Ruan is streamlined and generalised after an orbifold version of the Thom isomorphism…
We study the Landau-Ginzburg models which correspond to Calabi-Yau four-folds. We construct the index of the typical states which correspond to toric divisors. This index shows that whether a corresponding divisor can generate a non-perturbative superpotential. For an application, we consider the phase transition in terms of the orbifold construction. We obtain the simple method by which the divisor, which can not generate a superpotential in the original theory, can generate a superpotential after orbifoldization.
Let $W\in \mathbb{C}[x_1,\cdots,x_N]$ be an invertible polynomial with an isolated singularity at origin, and let $G\subset {\sf SL}_N\cap (\mathbb{C}^*)^N$ be a finite diagonal and special linear symmetry group of $W$. In this paper, we use the category ${\sf MF}_G(W)$ of $G$-equivariant matrix factorizations and its associated VSHS to construct a $G$-equivariant version of Saito's theory of primitive forms. We prove there exists a canonical categorical primitive form of ${\sf MF}_G(W)$ characterized by $G_W^{\sf max}$-equivariance. Conjecturally, this $G$-equivariant Saito theory is equivale…
We prove the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence between the Gromov-Witten theory of each elliptic orbifold curve and its Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory counterpart via modularity. We show that the correlation functions in these two enumerative theories are different representations of the same set of quasi-modular forms, expanded around different points on the upper-half plane. We relate these two representations by the Cayley transform.
We review the results of arXiv:1208.1481 on orientation reversal and duality for defects in topological Landau-Ginzburg models, with the intention of providing an easily accessible toolkit for computations. As an example we include a proof of the main result on adjunctions in a special case, using Pauli matrices. We also explain how to compute arbitrary correlators of defect-decorated planar worldsheets, and briefly discuss the relation to generalised orbifolds.
Recent developments in the study of the moonshine phenomenon, including umbral and Conway moonshine, suggest that it may play an important role in encoding the action of finite symmetry groups on the BPS spectrum of K3 string theory. To test and clarify these proposed K3-moonshine connections, we study Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds that flow to conformal field theories in the moduli space of K3 sigma models. We compute K3 elliptic genera twined by discrete symmetries that are manifest in the UV description, though often inaccessible in the IR. We obtain various twining functions coinciding with mo…
Recently Witten proposed to consider elliptic genus in $N=2$ superconformal field theory to understand the relation between $N=2$ minimal models and Landau-Ginzburg theories. In this paper we first discuss the basic properties satisfied by elliptic genera in $N=2$ theories. These properties are confirmed by some fundamental class of examples. Then we introduce a generic procedure to compute the elliptic genera of a particular class of orbifold theories, {\it i.e.\/} the ones orbifoldized by $e^{2πiJ_0}$ in the Neveu-Schwarz sector. This enables us to calculate the elliptic genera for Landau-Gi…
In this article, we study the Berglund--Hübsch transpose construction W^T for invertible quasihomogeneous potential W. We introduce the dual group G^T and establish the state space isomorphism between the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten A-model of W/G and the orbifold Milnor ring B-model of W^T/G^T. Furthermore, we prove a mirror symmetry theorem at the level of Frobenius algebra structure for G^max. Then, we interpret Arnol'd strange duality of exceptional singularities W as mirror symmetry between W/J and its strange dual W^SD.
For any non-degenerate, quasi-homogeneous hypersurface singularity W and an admissible group of diagonal symmetries G, Fan, Jarvis, and Ruan have constructed a cohomological field theory which is a candidate for the mathematical structure behind the Landau-Ginzburg A-model. When using the orbifold Milnor ring of a singularity W as a B-model, and the Frobenius algebra H_{W,G} constructed by Fan, Jarvis, and Ruan, as an A-model, the following conjecture is obtained: For a quasi-homogeneous singularity W and a group G of symmetries of W, there is a dual singularity W^T such that the orbifold A-mo…
Given any equivariant coherent sheaf $\mathcal L$ on a compact semi-positive toric orbifold $\mathcal X$, its SYZ T-dual mirror dual is a Lagrangian brane in the Landau-Ginzburg mirror. We prove the oscillatory integral of the equivariant superpotential in the Landau Ginzburg mirror over this Lagrangian brane is the genus-zero $1$-descendant Gromov-Witten potential with a Gamma-type class of $\mathcal L$ inserted.
In this paper we prove that the GW invariants of the elliptic orbifold lines with weights (3,3,3), (4,4,2), and (6,3,2) are quasi-modular forms. Our method is based on Givental's higher genus reconstruction formalism applied to the settings of Saito's Frobenius structures for simple elliptic singularities. Our results are part of a larger project whose goal is to prove the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for simple elliptic singularities. The correspondence describes a relation between Gromov-Witten theory (of a certain hypersurface) and Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory (of a certain La…
To construct mirror symmetric Landau-Ginzburg models, P.Berglund, T.Hübsch and M.Henningson considered a pair $(f,G)$ consisting of an invertible polynomial $f$ and an abelian group $G$ of its symmetries together with a dual pair $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$. Here we study the reduced orbifold Euler characteristics of the Milnor fibres of $f$ and $\widetilde f$ with the actions of the groups $G$ and $\widetilde G$ respectively and show that they coincide up to a sign.
An invertible polynomial in $n$ variables is a quasihomogeneous polynomial consisting of $n$ monomials so that the weights of the variables and the quasi-degree are well defined. In the framework of the construction of mirror symmetric orbifold Landau--Ginzburg models, P.~Berg\-lund, T.~Hübsch and M.~Henningson considered a pair $(f,G)$ consisting of an invertible polynomial $f$ and an abelian group $G$ of its symmetries together with a dual pair $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$. Here we study the reduced orbifold zeta functions of dual pairs $(f,G)$ and $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$ and sh…
We formulate a constructive theory of noncommutative Landau-Ginzburg models mirror to symplectic manifolds based on Lagrangian Floer theory. The construction comes with a natural functor from the Fukaya category to the category of matrix factorizations of the constructed Landau-Ginzburg model. As applications, it is applied to elliptic orbifolds, punctured Riemann surfaces and certain non-compact Calabi-Yau threefolds to construct their mirrors and functors. In particular it recovers and strengthens several interesting results of Etingof-Ginzburg, Bocklandt and Smith, and gives a unified under…
We compute topological correlators in Landau-Ginzburg models on a Riemann surface with arbitrary number of handles and boundaries. The boundaries may correspond to arbitrary topological D-branes of type B. We also allow arbitrary operator insertions on the boundary and in the bulk. The answer is given by an explicit formula which can be regarded as an open-string generalization of C. Vafa's formula for closed-string topological correlators. We discuss how to extend our results to the case of Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds.
An invertible polynomial is a quasihomogeneous polynomial with the number of monomials coinciding with the number of variables and such that the weights of the variables and the quasi-degree are well defined. In the framework of the search for mirror symmetric orbifold Landau-Ginzburg models, P.~Berglund and M.~Henningson considered a pair $(f,G)$ consisting of an invertible polynomial $f$ and an abelian group $G$ of its symmetries together with a dual pair $(\widetilde{f}, \widetilde{G})$. We consider the so-called orbifold E-function of such a pair $(f,G)$ which is a generating function for …
We generalize the cohomological mirror duality of Borcea and Voisin in any dimension and for any number of factors. Our proof applies to all examples which can be constructed through Berglund-Hübsch duality. Our method is a variant of the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence of Calabi-Yau orbifolds with an involution that does not preserve the volume form. We deduce a version of mirror duality for the fixed loci of the involution, which are beyond the Calabi-Yau category and feature hypersurfaces of general type.
We introduce an integral structure in orbifold quantum cohomology associated to the K-group and the Gamma-class. In the case of compact toric orbifolds, we show that this integral structure matches with the natural integral structure for the Landau-Ginzburg model under mirror symmetry. By assuming the existence of an integral structure, we give a natural explanation for the specialization to a root of unity in Y. Ruan's crepant resolution conjecture.
We consider certain families of Calabi-Yau orbifolds and their mirror partners constructed from Fermat hypersurfaces in weighted projective 4-spaces. Our focus is the topological mirror symmetry. There are at least three known ingredients to describe the topological mirror symmetry, namely, integral vertices in reflexive polytopes, monomials in graded polynomial rings (with some group actions), and periods (and Picard-Fuchs differential equations). In this paper we will introduce Fermat motives associated to these Calabi-Yau orbifolds and then use them to give motivic interpretation of the top…
We show that the orbifold Chow ring of a root stack over a well-formed weighted projective space can be naturally seen as the Jacobian algebra of a function on a singular variety given by a partial compactification of its Ginzburg-Landau model.
We review various constructions of mirror symmetry in terms of Landau-Ginzburg orbifolds for arbitrary central charge $c$ and \CY\ hypersurfaces and complete intersections in toric varieties. In particular it is shown how the different techniques are related
We study the Hochschild homology and cohomology of curved A-infinity algebras that arise in the study of Landau-Ginzburg (LG) models in physics. We show that the ordinary Hochschild homology and cohomology of these algebras vanish. To correct this we introduce modified versions of these theories, Borel-Moore Hochschild homology and compactly supported Hochschild cohomology. For LG models the new invariants yield the answer predicted by physics, shifts of the Jacobian ring. We also study the relationship between graded LG models and the geometry of hypersurfaces. We prove that Orlov's derived e…
We prove that the wrapped Fukaya category of a punctured sphere ($S^2$ with an arbitrary number of points removed) is equivalent to the triangulated category of singularities of a mirror Landau-Ginzburg model, proving one side of the homological mirror symmetry conjecture in this case. By investigating fractional gradings on these categories, we conclude that cyclic covers on the symplectic side are mirror to orbifold quotients of the Landau-Ginzburg model.
In a series of papers \cite{KS,MR}, Krawitz, Milanov, Ruan, and Shen have verified the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau (LG/CY) correspondence for simple elliptic singularities $E_N^{(1,1)}$ ($N=6,7,8$). As a byproduct it was also proved that the orbifold Gromov--Witten invariants of the orbifold projective lines $\mathbb{P}^1_{3,3,3}$, $\mathbb{P}^1_{4,4,2}$, and $\mathbb{P}^1_{6,3,2}$ are quasi-modular forms on an appropriate modular group. While the modular group for $\mathbb{P}^1_{3,3,3}$ is $Γ(3)$, the modular groups in the other two cases were left unknown. The goal of this paper is …
In this paper, we prove the mirror symmetry conjecture between the Saito-Givental theory of exceptional unimodular singularities on Landau-Ginzburg B-side and the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of their mirror partners on Landau-Ginzburg A-side. On the B-side, we compute the genus-zero generating function from a perturbative formula of primitive forms introduced by the first three authors recently. This computation matches the orbifold-Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch and WDVV calculations in FJRW theory on the A-side. The coincidence of the full data at all genera is established by reconstruction tec…
Burban-Drozd showed that the degenerate cusp singularities have tame Cohen-Macaulay representation type, and classified all indecomposable Cohen-Macaulay modules over them. One of their main example is the non-isolated singularity $W=xyz$. On the other hand, Abouzaid-Auroux-Efimov-Katzarkov-Orlov showed that $W=xyz$ is mirror to a pair of pants. In this paper, we investigate homological mirror symmetry of these indecomposable Cohen-Macaulay modules for $xyz$. Namely, we show that closed geodesics (with a flat $\mathbb{C}$-bundle) of a hyperbolic pair of pants have a one-to-one correspondence w…
