We investigated the analytical solution of fractional order K(m,n) type equation with variable coefficient which is an extended type of KdV equations into a genuinely nonlinear dispersion regime. By using the Lie symmetry analysis, we obtain the Lie point symmetries for this type of time-fractional partial differential equations (PDE). Also we present the corresponding reduced fractional differential equations (FDEs) corresponding to the time-fractional K(m,n) type equation.
Let $G$ be a compact Lie group. In this article, we consider the initial value fractional wave equation with power-type nonlinearity on $G$. Mainly, we investigate some $L^{2}-L^{2}$ estimates of the solutions to the homogeneous fractional wave equation on $G$ with the help of the group Fourier transform on $G$. Further, using the Fourier analysis on compact Lie groups, we prove a local in-time existence result in the energy space. Moreover, under certain conditions on the initial data, a finite time blow-up result is established. We also derive a sharp lifespan for local (in-time) solutions. …
In this paper, we deal with the initial value fractional damped wave equation on $G$, a compact Lie group, with power-type nonlinearity. The aim of this manuscript is twofold. First, using the Fourier analysis on compact Lie groups, we prove a local in-time existence result in the energy space for the fractional damped wave equation on $G$. Moreover, a finite time blow-up result is established under certain conditions on the initial data. In the next part of the paper, we consider fractional wave equation with lower order terms, that is, damping and mass with the same power type nonlinearity o…
We study the uncoupled space-time fractional operators involving time-dependent coefficients and formulate the corresponding inverse problems. Our goal is to determine the variable coefficients from the exterior partial measurements of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. We exploit the integration by parts formula for Riemann-Liouville and Caputo derivatives to derive the Runge approximation property for our space-time fractional operator based on the unique continuation property of the fractional Laplacian. This enables us to extend early unique determination results for space-fractional but time-l…
We consider time fractional parabolic equations in both divergence and non-divergence form when the leading coefficients $a^{ij}$ are measurable functions of $(t,x_1)$ except for $a^{11}$ which is a measurable function of either $t$ or $x_1$. We obtain the solvability in Sobolev spaces of the equations in the whole space, on a half space, or on a partially bounded domain. The proofs use a level set argument, a scaling argument, and embeddings in fractional parabolic Sobolev spaces for which we give a direct and elementary proof.
We consider time-fractional parabolic equations with a Caputo time derivative of order $α\in(0,1)$. For such equations, we give an elementary proof of the weak maximum principle under no assumptions on the sign of the reaction coefficient. This proof is also extended for weak solutions, as well as for various types of boundary conditions and variable-coefficient variable-order multiterm time-fractional parabolic equations.
We consider inverse problems for the first and half order time fractional equation. We establish the stability estimates of Lipschitz type in inverse source and inverse coefficient problems by means of the Carleman estimates.
We establish the $L_p$-solvability for time fractional parabolic equations when coefficients are merely measurable in the time variable. In the spatial variables, the leading coefficients locally have small mean oscillations. Our results extend a recent result in [6] to a large extent.
This paper is devoted to discussing the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to time-fractional elliptic equations having time-dependent variable coefficients. To obtain the main result, our strategy is to combine the Galerkin method, a basic inequality for the fractional derivative of convex Lyapunov candidate functions, the Yoshida approximation sequence and the weak compactness argument.
We present the unique solvability in Sobolev spaces of time fractional parabolic equations in divergence and non-divergence forms. The leading coefficients are merely measurable in $(t,x_1)$ for $a^{ij}$, $1 \leq i,j \leq d$, $(i,j) \neq (1,1)$. The coefficient $a^{11}$ is merely measurable locally either in $t$ or $x_1$. As functions of the remaining variables, the coefficients have small mean oscillations. We consider mixed norm Sobolev spaces with Muckenhoupt weights. Our results generalize previous work on parabolic equations with time fractional derivatives to a much larger class of coeff…
When considering fractional diffusion equation as model equation in analyzing anomalous diffusion processes, some important parameters in the model, for example, the orders of the fractional derivative or the source term, are often unknown, which requires one to discuss inverse problems to identify these physical quantities from some additional information that can be observed or measured practically. This chapter investigates several kinds of inverse coefficient problems for the fractional diffusion equation.
We consider an inverse problem of determining the coefficients of a fractional $p\,$-Laplace equation in the exterior domain. Assuming suitable local regularity of the coefficients in the exterior domain, we offer an explicit reconstruction formula in the region where the exterior measurements are performed. This formula is then used to establish a global uniqueness result for real-analytic coefficents. In addition, we also derive a stability estimate for the unique determination of the coefficients in the exterior measurement set.
In this study, we focus on identifying solution and an unknown space-dependent coefficient in a space-time fractional differential equation by employing fractional Taylor series method. The substantial advantage of this method is that we don't take any over-measured data into account. Consequently, we determine the solution and unknown coefficient more precisely. The presented examples illustrate that outcomes of this method are in high agreement with the exact ones of the corresponding problem. Moreover, it can be implemented and applied effectively comparing with other methods.
This paper is a comprehensive study of $L_p$ estimates for time fractional wave equations of order $α\in (1,2)$ in the whole space, a half space, or a cylindrical domain. We obtain weighted mixed-norm estimates and solvability of the equations in both non-divergence form and divergence form when the leading coefficients have small mean oscillation in small cylinders.
In this paper, we establish $L_p$ estimates and solvability for time fractional divergence form parabolic equations in the whole space when leading coefficients are merely measurable in one spatial variable and locally have small mean oscillations with respect to the other variables. The corresponding results for equations on a half space are also derived.
In this paper, we discuss an initial-boundary value problem (IBVP) for the multi-term time-fractional diffusion equation with x-dependent coefficients. By means of the Mittag-Leffler functions and the eigenfunction expansion, we reduce the IBVP to an equivalent integral equation to show the unique existence and the analyticity of the solution for the equation. Especially, in the case where all the coefficients of the time-fractional derivatives are non-negative, by the Laplace and inversion Laplace transforms, it turns out that the decay rate of the solution for long time is dominated by the l…
We provide an asymptotic analysis of a non-local Fisher-KPP type equation in periodic media and with a non-local stable operator of order $α$ $\in$ (0, 2). We perform a long time-long range scaling in order to prove that the stable state invades the unstable state with a speed which is exponential in time.
We study an inverse problem for the fractional Schrödinger equation (FSE) with a local perturbation by a linear partial differential operator (PDO) of order smaller than the order of the fractional Laplacian. We show that one can uniquely recover the coefficients of the PDO from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann (DN) map associated to the perturbed FSE. This is proved for two classes of coefficients: coefficients which belong to certain spaces of Sobolev multipliers and coefficients which belong to fractional Sobolev spaces with bounded derivatives. Our study generalizes recent results for the zeroth a…
We consider the inverse problem of determining different type of information about a diffusion process, described by ordinary or fractional diffusion equations stated on a bounded domain, like the density of the medium or the velocity field associated with the moving quantities from a single boundary measurement. This properties will be associated with some general class of time independent coefficients that we recover from a single Neumann boundary measurement, on some parts of the boundary, of the solution of our diffusion equation with a suitable boundary input, located on some parts of the…
We consider initial boundary value problems for one-dimensional diffusion equation with time-fractional derivative of order $α\in (0,1)$ which are subject to non-zero Neumann boundary conditions. We prove the uniqueness for an inverse coefficient problem of determining a spatially varying potential and the order of the time-fractional derivative by Dirichlet data at one end point of the spatial interval. The imposed Neumann conditions are required to be within the correct Sobolev space of order $α$. Our proof is based on a representation formula of solution to an initial boundary value problem…
In this work we investigate the well-posedness for difussion equations associated to subelliptic pseudo-differential operators on compact Lie groups. The diffusion by strongly elliptic operators is considered as a special case and in particular the fractional diffusion with respect to the Laplacian. The general case is studied within the Hörmander classes associated to a sub-Riemannian structure on the group (encoded by a Hörmander system of vector fields). Applications to diffusion equations for fractional sub-Laplacians, fractional powers of more general subelliptic operators, and the corres…
We consider the homogenization for time-fractional diffusion equations in a periodic structure and we derive the homogenized time-fractional diffusion equation. Then we discuss the determination of the constant diffusion coefficient by minimum data. Combining the results obtained above, we investigate the inverse problems of determining the diffusion coefficient for the homogenized equations from the data in the periodic structure and vice versa, that is, we investigate the inverse problem of determining the diffusion coefficient for the periodic equations from the data in the homogenized stru…
In this paper, we concentrate on the Lie symmetry structure of a system of multi-dimensional time-fractional partial differential equations (PDEs). Specifically, we first give an explicit prolongation formula of the Lie infinitesimal generator involving time-fractional partial derivative in multi-dimensional case, and then show that the admitted infinitesimal generator has an elegant structure. Furthermore, we present two simple conditions to determine the infinitesimal generator where one is a system of linear time-fractional PDEs, the other is a system of integer-order PDEs and plays the dom…
In this paper we prove the fractional Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality on homogeneous Lie groups. Also, we establish weighted fractional Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality and Lyapunov-type inequality for the Riesz potential on homogeneous Lie groups. The obtained Lyapunov inequality for the Riesz potential is new already in the classical setting of $\mathbb{R}^{N}$. As an application, we give two-sided estimate for the first eigenvalue of the Riesz potential. Also, we obtain Lyapunov inequality for the system of the fractional $p$-sub-Laplacian equations and give an application to estimate it…
We consider a time-independent variable coefficients fractional porous medium equation and formulate an associated inverse problem. We determine both the conductivity and the absorption coefficient from exterior partial measurements of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. Our approach relies on a time-integral transform technique as well as the unique continuation property of the fractional operator.
This paper deals with the inverse problem of recovering an arbitrary number of fractional damping terms in a wave equation. We develop several approaches on uniqueness and reconstruction, some of them relying on Tauberian theorems on the relation between the asymptotics of solutions in time and Laplace domain. Also the possibility of additionally recovering space dependent coefficients or initial data is discussed. The resulting methods for reconstructing coefficients and fractional orders in these terms are tested numerically. Additionally, we provide an analysis of the forward problem, a mul…
