In the right conditions, removing one particle from a multipartite bound state can make it fall apart. This feature, known as the "Borromean property", has been recently demonstrated experimentally in Efimov states. One could expect that such peculiar behavior should be linked with the presence of strong inter-particle correlations. However, any exploration of this connection is hindered by the complexity of the physical systems exhibiting the Borromean property. To overcome this problem, we introduce a simple dynamical toy model based on a discrete-time quantum walk of many interacting particles. We show that the particles described by it need to exhibit the Greenberger-Horne-Zeillinger (GHZ) entanglement to form Borromean bound states. As this type of entanglement is very prone to particle losses, our work demonstrates an intuitive link between correlations and Borromean properties of the system. Moreover, we discuss our findings in the context of the formation of composite particles.
Discrete-time quantum walk in one-dimension is studied from a path-integral perspective. This enables derivation of a closed-form expression for amplitudes corresponding to any coin-position basis of the state vector of the quantum walker at an arbitrary step of the walk. This provides a new approach to the foundations and applications of quantum walks.
Discrete Time Quantum Walk Approach to State Transfer
[Phys. Rev. Lett. 92,187902(2004)]讨论了连续时间量子游动和离散时间量子游动之间的转换的一般思想。
Higher-order topological insulators not only exhibit exotic bulk-boundary correspondence principle, but also have an important application in quantum computing. However, they have never been achieved in quantum walk. In this paper, we construct a two-dimensional coinless discrete-time quantum walk to simulate second-order topological insulator with zero-dimensional corner states. We show that both of the corner and edge states can be observed through the probability distribution of the walker after multi-step discrete-time quantum walks. Furthermore, we demonstrate the robustness of the topolo…
A particular family of Discrete Time Quantum Walks (DTQWs) simulating fermion propagation in $2$D curved space-time is revisited. Usual continuous covariant derivatives and spin-connections are generalized into discrete covariant derivatives along the lattice coordinates and discrete connections. The concepts of metrics and $2$-beins are also extended to the discrete realm. Two slightly different Riemann curvatures are then defined on the space-time lattice as the curvatures of the discrete spin connection. These two curvatures are closely related and one of them tends at the continuous limit …
We investigate the counterparts of random walk in universal quantum computing and their implementation using standard quantum circuits. Quantum walk have been recently well investigated for traversing graphs with certain oracles. We focus our study on traversing a 1-D graph, namely a circle, and show how to implement discrete circular quantum walk in quantum circuits built with universal CNOT and single quit gates. We review elementary quantum gates and circuit decomposition and propose a a generalized version of the all CNOT based quantum discrete circular walk. We simulated these circuits on…
We show that probability is locally conserved in discrete time quantum walks, corresponding to a particle evolving in discrete space and time. In particular, for a spatial structure represented by an arbitrary directed graph, and any unitary evolution of a particle which respects that locality structure, we can define probability currents which also respect the locality structure and which yield the correct final probability distribution.
Estimation of the coin parameter(s) is an important part of the problem of implementing more robust schemes for quantum simulation using quantum walks. We present the estimation of the quantum coin parameter used for one-dimensional discrete-time quantum walk evolution using machine learning algorithms on their probability distributions. We show that the models we have implemented are able to estimate these evolution parameters to a good accuracy level. We also implement a deep learning model that is able to predict multiple parameters simultaneously. Since discrete-time quantum walks can be u…
The theory of random walks on finite graphs is well developed with numerous applications. In quantum walks, the propagation is governed by quantum mechanical rules; generalizing random walks to the quantum setting. They have been successfully applied in the development of quantum algorithms. In particular, to solve problems that can be mapped to searching or property testing on some specific graph. In this paper we investigate the discrete time coined quantum walk (DTCQW) model using tools from non-commutative Fourier analysis. Specifically, we are interested in characterizing the DTCQW on Cay…
In this paper, we introduce a quantum walk whose local scattering at each vertex is denoted by a unitary circulant matrix; namely the circulant quantum walk. We also introduce another quantum walk induced by the circulant quantum walk; namely the optical quantum walk, whose underlying graph is a $2$-regular directed graph and obtained by blowing up the original graph in some way. We propose a design of an optical circuit which implements the stationary state of the optical quantum walk. We show that if the induced optical quantum walk does not have $+1$ eigenvalue, then the stationary state of…
The discrete time quantum walk (DTQW) is a universal quantum computational model. Significant relationships between discrete and corresponding continuous quantum systems have been studied since the work of Pauli and Feynman. This work continues the study of relationships between discrete quantum models and their ostensive continuum counterparts by developing a formal transition between discrete and continuous quantum systems through a formal framework for continuum limits of the DTQW. Under this framework, we prove two constructive theorems concerning which internal discrete transitions ("coin…
In quantum computation theory, quantum random walks have been utilized by many quantum search algorithms which provide improved performance over their classical counterparts. However, due to the importance of the quantum decoherence phenomenon, decoherent quantum walks and their applications have been studied on a wide variety of structures. Recently, a unified time-inhomogeneous coin-turning random walk with rescaled limiting distributions, Bernoulli, uniform, arcsine and semi-circle laws as parameter varies have been obtained. In this paper we study the quantum analogue of these models. We o…
We make and generalize the observation that summing of probability amplitudes of a discrete-time quantum walk over partitions of the walking graph consistent with the step operator results in a unitary evolution on the reduced graph which is also a quantum walk. Since the effective walking graph of the projected walk is not necessarily simpler than the original, this may bring new insights into the dynamics of some kinds of quantum walks using known results from thoroughly studied cases like Euclidean lattices. We use abstract treatment of the walking space and walker displacements in aim for …
Quantum walks have been shown to have a wide range of applications, from artificial intelligence, to photosynthesis, and quantum transport. Quantum stochastic walks (QSWs) generalize this concept to additional non-unitary evolution. In this paper, we propose a trajectory-based quantum simulation protocol to effectively implement a family of discrete-time QSWs in a quantum device. After deriving the protocol for a 2-vertex graph with a single edge, we show how our protocol generalizes to a graph with arbitrary topology and connectivity. The straight-forward generalization leads to simple scalin…
The discrete-time quantum walk dynamics can be generated by a time-dependent Hamiltonian, repeatedly switching between the coin and the shift generators. We change the model and consider the case where the Hamiltonian is time-independent, including both the coin and the shift terms in all times. The eigenvalues and the related Bloch vectors for the time-independent Hamiltonian are then compared with the corresponding quantities for the effective Hamiltonian generating the quantum walk dynamics. Restricted to the non-localized initial quantum walk states, we optimize the parameters in the time-…
A relativistic Wigner function for free Discrete Time Quantum Walks (DTQWs) on the square $2D$ space-time lattice is defined. Useful concepts such as discrete derivatives and discrete distributions are also introduced. The transport equation obeyed by the relativistic Wigner function is obtained and degenerates at the continuous limit into the transport equation obeyed by the Wigner function of $2D$ Dirac fermions. The first corrections to the continuous equation induced by the discreteness of the lattice are also computed.
