We extend on-shell bootstrap methods from spacetime amplitudes to the worldsheet objects of the CHY formalism. We find that the integrands corresponding to tree-level non-linear sigma model, Yang-Mills and $(DF)^2$ theory are determined by demanding enhanced UV scaling under BCFW shifts. Back in spacetime, we also find that $(DF)^2$ theory is fixed by gauge invariance/UV scaling and simple locality assumptions.
In this paper, the one-loop CHY-integrands of bi-adjoint scalar theory has been reinvestigated. Differing from previous constructions, we have explicitly removed contributions from tadpole and massless bubbles when taking the forward limit of corresponding tree-level amplitudes. The way to remove those singular contributions is to exploit the idea of 'picking poles', which is to multiply a special cross ratio factor with the role of isolating terms having a particular pole structure.
An elegant unified web for amplitudes of various theories was given by Cachazo, He and Yuan in the CHY framework a few years ago. Recently, similar web has also been constructed by Cheung, Shen and Wen, which relies on a set of differential operators. In this note, by acting these differential operators on CHY-integrands systematically, we have established the relation between these two approaches. Thus, amplitudes for all theories which have CHY representations, include gravity theory, Einstein-Yang-Mills theory, Einstein-Maxwell theory, pure Yang-Mills theory, Yang-Mills-scalar theory, Born-…
The various formulations of scattering amplitudes presented in recent years have underlined a hidden unity among very different theories. The KLT and BCJ relations, together with the CHY formulation, connect the S-matrices of a wide range of theories: the transmutation operators, recently proposed by Cheung, Shen and Wen, provide an account for these similarities. In this note we use the transmutation operators to link the various CHY integrands at tree-level. Starting from gravity, we generate the integrands for Yang-Mills, biadjoint scalar, Einstein-Maxwell, Yang-Mills scalar, Born-Infeld, D…
The CHY-integrand of bi-adjoint cubic scalar theory is a product of two PT-factors. This pair of PT-factors can be interpreted as defining a permutation. We introduce the cycle representation of permutation in this paper for the understanding of cubic scalar amplitude. We show that, given a permutation related to the pair of PT-factors, the pole and vertex information of Feynman diagrams of corresponding CHY-integrand is completely characterized by the cycle representation of permutation. Inversely, we also show that, given a set of Feynman diagrams, the cycle representation of corresponding P…
In this paper, we develop a rather general way to reduce integrands with polarization involved in the Cachazo-He-Yuan formulae, such as the reduced Pfaffian, its compactiffcation and its squeezing, as well as the new object for F^3 amplitude. We prove that the reduced Pfaffian vanishes unless evaluated on a certain set of solutions. It leads us to build up the 4d CHY formulae using spinors, which strains off many useless solutions. The supersymmetrization is straightforward and may provide a hint to understand ambitwistor string in 4d.
Generalised bi-adjoint scalar amplitudes, obtained from integrations over moduli space of punctured $\mathbb{CP}^{k-1}$, are novel extensions of the CHY formalism. These amplitudes have realisations in terms of Grassmannian cluster algebras. Recently connections between one-loop integrands for bi-adjoint cubic scalar theory and $\mathcal{D}_n$ cluster polytope have been established. In this paper using the $\text{Gr}\left(3,6\right)$ cluster algebra, we relate the singularities of $\left(3,6\right)$ amplitude to four-point one-loop integrand in the bi-adjoint cubic scalar theory through the $\…
We present an integration-by-parts reduction of any massless tree-level string correlator to an equivalence class of logarithmic functions, which can be used to define a field-theory amplitude via a Cachazo-He-Yuan (CHY) formula. The string amplitude is then shown to be the double copy of the field-theory one and a special disk/sphere integral. The construction is generic as it applies to any correlator that is a rational function of correct SL(2) weight. By applying the reduction to open bosonic/heterotic strings, we get a closed-form CHY integrand for the $(DF)^2+\text{YM}+ϕ^3$ theory.
We obtain novel factorization identities for non-linear sigma model amplitudes using a new integrand in the CHY double-cover prescription. We find that it is possible write very compact relations using only longitudinal degrees of freedom. We discuss implications for on-shell recursion.
We further elaborate on the general construction proposed in arXiv:1812.03369, which connects, via tree-level double copy, massless string amplitudes with color-ordered QFT amplitudes that are given by Cachazo-He-Yuan formulas. The current paper serves as a detailed study of the integration-by-parts procedure for any tree-level massless string correlator outlined in the previous letter. We present two new results in the context of heterotic and (compactified) bosonic string theories. First, we find a new recursive expansion of any multitrace mixed correlator in these theories into a logarithmi…
We show that the half-integrands in the CHY representation of tree amplitudes give rise to the definition of differential forms -- the scattering forms -- on the moduli space of a Riemann sphere with $n$ marked points. These differential forms have some remarkable properties. We show that all singularities are on the divisor $\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,n} \backslash {\mathcal M}_{0,n}$. Each singularity is logarithmic and the residue factorises into two differential forms of lower points. In order for this to work, we provide a threefold generalisation of the CHY polarisation factor (also known …
The CHY formalism for massless scattering provides a cohesive framework for the computation of scattering amplitudes in a variety of theories. It is especially compelling because it elucidates existing relations among theories which are seemingly unrelated in a standard Lagrangian formulation. However, it entails operations that are highly non-trivial to perform analytically, most notably solving the scattering equations. We present a new Python package ( https://github.com/GDeLaurentis/seampy ) to solve the scattering equations and to compute scattering amplitudes. Both operations are done nu…
We use the recently developed generalized double-copy procedure to construct an integrand for the five-loop four-point amplitude of N=8 supergravity. This construction starts from a naive double copy of the previously computed corresponding amplitude of N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory. This is then systematically modified by adding contact terms generated in the context of the method of maximal unitarity cuts. For the simpler generalized cuts, whose corresponding contact terms tend to be the most complicated, we derive a set of formulas relating the contact contributions to the violations of the d…
In this thesis, we study the integrands of a special four-point correlation function formed of protected half-BPS operators and scattering amplitudes in planar supersymmetric $\mathcal{N}=4$ Yang-Mills. We use the `soft-collinear bootstrap' method to construct integrands of the aforementioned correlator and four-point scattering amplitudes to eight loops. The result is then extended to ten loops, by introducing two graphical relations, called the `triangle' and `pentagon' rules. These relations provide consistency conditions on the coefficients, and when combined with the `square' rule, prove …

We initiate a study of non-supersymmetric Born-Infeld electrodynamics in 4d at the quantum level. Explicit all-multiplicity expressions are calculated for the purely rational one-loop amplitudes in the self-dual ($++\ldots+$) and next-to-self-dual ($-+\ldots+$) helicity sectors. Using a supersymmetric decomposition, $d$-dimensional unitarity cuts of the integrand factorize into tree-amplitudes in a 4d model of Born-Infeld photons coupled to a massive complex scalar. The two-scalar tree-amplitudes needed to construct the Born-Infeld integrand are computed using two complimentary approaches: (1)…
Scattering amplitudes with spinning particles are shown to decompose into multiple copies of simple building blocks to all loop orders, which can be used to efficiently reduce these amplitudes to sums over scalar integrals. Absence of unphysical kinematic singularities cleanly exposed by the method uncover novel consistency relations among master integrals and their coefficients. Analytic results are obtained for the five gluon, two loop, and four gluon, three loop planar scattering amplitudes in pure Yang-Mills theory as well as for leading singularities to even higher orders.
