Let $G$ be a locally compact group and $μ$ be a measure on $G$. In this paper we find conditions for the convolution operators $λ_p(μ)$, defined on $L^p(G)$ and given by convolution by $μ$, to be mean ergodic and uniformly mean ergodic. The ergodic properties of the operators $λ_p(μ)$ are related to the ergodic properties of the measure $μ$ as well.
In this paper we investigate the spectra and the ergodic properties of the multiplication operators and the convolution operators acting on the Schwartz space $\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R})$ of rapidly decreasing functions, i.e., operators of the form $M_h: \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R})\to\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R})$, $f \mapsto h f $, and $C_T\colon \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R})\to\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R})$, $f\mapsto T\star f$. Precisely, we determine their spectra and characterize when those operators are power bounded and mean ergodic.
We investigate (uniform) mean ergodicity of weighted composition operators on the space of smooth functions and the space of distributions, both over an open subset of the real line. Among other things, we prove that a composition operator with a real analytic diffeomorphic symbol is mean ergodic on the space of distributions if and only if it is periodic with period 2. Our results are based on a characterization of mean ergodicity in terms of Cesàro boundedness and a growth property of the orbits for operators on Montel spaces which is of independent interest.
We study mean ergodic composition operators on infinite dimensional spaces of holomorphic functions of different types when defined on the unit ball of a Banach or a Hilbert space: that of all holomorphic functions, that of holomorphic functions of bounded type and that of bounded holomorphic functions. Several examples in the different settings are given.
The main goal of this note is to show that (not necessarily holomorphic) multipliers of a wide class of normed spaces of continuous functions over a connected Hausdorff topological space cannot attain their multiplier norms, unless they are constants. As an application, a contractive multiplication operator is either a multiplication with a constant, or is completely non-unitary. Additionally we explore possibilities for a multiplication operator to be (weakly) compact and (uniformly) mean ergodic.
We completely characterize the mean ergodic composition operators on $H^\infty(\mathbb{B}_n)$. In particular, we show that a composition operator acting on this space is mean ergodic if and only if it is uniformly mean ergodic.
In this paper, we study (uniformly) mean ergodic composition operators on $H^\infty(\mathbb{B}_n)$. Under some additional assumptions, it is shown that mean ergodic operators have norm convergent iterates in $H^\infty(\mathbb{B}_n)$, and that they are always uniformly mean ergodic.
In this paper, the power boundedness and mean ergodicity of multiplication operators are investigated on the Bloch space B, the little Bloch space B0 and the Besov Space Bp. We completely characterize power bounded, mean ergodic and uniformly mean ergodic multiplication operators on B and B0.
Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for mean ergodicity, power boundedness, and topologizability for weighted backward shift and weighted forward shift operators, respectively, on Köthe echelon spaces in terms of the weight sequence and the Köthe matrix. These conditions are evaluated for the special case of power series spaces which allow for a characterization of said properties in many cases. In order to demonstrate the applicability of our conditions, we study the above properties for several classical operators on certain function spaces.

In this paper, we study the maximal ergodic operator on $L^p_w(X, \mathcal{B}, μ)$ spaces, $1 \leq p < \infty$, where $(X, \mathcal{B}, μ)$ is a probability space equipped with an invertible measure preserving transformation $U$ and $w$ is an ergodic $A_p$ weight using transference method.
For holomorphic pairs of symbols $(u, ψ)$, we study various structures of the weighted composition operator $ W_{(u,ψ)} f= u \cdot f(ψ)$ defined on the Fock spaces $\mathcal{F}_p$. We have identified operators $W_{(u,ψ)}$ that have power bounded and uniformly mean ergodic properties on the spaces. These properties are described in terms of easy to apply conditions relying on the values $|u(0)|$ and $|u(\frac{b}{1-a})|$ where $ a$ and $b$ are coefficients from linear expansion of the symbol $ψ$. The spectrum of the operators are also determined and applied further to prove results about uniform…
Let $T$ be a power bounded Hilbert space operator without unimodular eigenvalues. We show that the subsequential ergodic averages $N^{-1}\sum_{n=1}^N T^{a_n}$ converge in the strong operator topology for a wide range of sequences $(a_n)$, including the integer part of most of subpolynomial Hardy functions. Moreover, we show that the weighted averages $N^{-1}\sum_{n=1}^N e^{2πi g(n)}T^{a_n}$ also converge for many reasonable functions $g$. In particular, we generalize the polynomial mean ergodic theorem for power bounded operators due to ter Elst and the second author \cite{tEM} to real polynom…
We consider general Markov chains with discrete time in an arbitrary measurable (phase) space and homogeneous in time. Markov chains are defined by the classical transition function which within the framework of the operator treatment generates a conjugate pair of linear Markov operators in the Banach space of measurable bounded functions and in the Banach space of bounded finite additive measures. It is proved that the well-known Doeblin condition $ (D) $ of ergodicity (quasi\-compactness) of the Markov chain is equivalent to the condition $ (*) $: all finitely additive invariant measures of …
In this paper, we establish the quantitative mean ergodic theorems for two subclasses of power bounded operators on a fixed noncommutative $L_p$-space with $1<p<\infty$, which mainly concerns power bounded invertible operators and Lamperti contractions. Our approach to the quantitative ergodic theorems is the noncommutative square function inequalities. The establishment of the latter involves several new ingredients such as the almost orthogonality and Calderón-Zygmund arguments for non-smooth kernels from semi-commutative harmonic analysis, the extension properties of the operators under con…
In this paper, we establish the one-sided maximal ergodic inequalities for a large subclass of positive operators on noncommutative $L_p$-spaces for a fixed $1<p<\infty$, which particularly applies to positive isometries and general positive Lamperti contractions or power bounded doubly Lamperti operators; moreover, it is known that this subclass recovers all positive contractions on the classical Lebesgue spaces $L_p([0,1])$. Our study falls into neither the category of positive contractions considered by Junge-Xu nor the class of power bounded positive invertible operators considered by Hong…
Invariant ergodic measures for generalized Boole type transformations are studied using an invariant quasi-measure generating function approach based on special solutions to the Frobenius--Perron operator. New two-dimensional Boole type transformations are introduced, and their invariant measures and ergodicity properties are analyzed.
In this paper we develop a systematic theory of compact operator semigroups on locally convex vector spaces. In particular we prove new and generalized versions of the mean ergodic theorem and apply them to different notions of mean ergodicity appearing in topological dynamics.
