In this paper, we first establish the existence, uniqueness and Hölder continuity of the solution to stochastic Volterra integral equations with weakly singular kernels. Then, we propose a $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme and a Milstein scheme to solve the equations numerically and we obtain the strong rates of convergence for both schemes in $L^{p}$ norm for any $p\geq 1$. For the $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,\frac{1}{2}-β\}~ % (0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$ and for the Milstein scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,1-2β\}$ when $α\neq \frac 12$, where $(0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$. These results on the rates of convergence are significantly different from that of the similar schemes for the stochastic Volterra integral equations with regular kernels. The difficulty to obtain our results is the lack of Itô formula for the equations. To get around of this difficulty we use instead the Taylor formula and then carry a sophisticated analysis on the equation the solution satisfies.
In this paper we propose and analyze a fractional Jacobi-collocation spectral method for the second kind Volterra integral equations (VIEs) with weakly singular kernel $(x-s)^{-μ},0<μ<1$. First we develop a family of fractional Jacobi polynomials, along with basic approximation results for some weighted projection and interpolation operators defined in suitable weighted Sobolev spaces. Then we construct an efficient fractional Jacobi-collocation spectral method for the VIEs using the zeros of the new developed fractional Jacobi polynomial. A detailed convergence analysis is carried out to deri…
In this paper, a two-grid temporal second-order scheme for the two-dimensional nonlinear Volterra integro-differential equation with weakly singular kernel is proposed to reduce the computation time and improve the accuracy of the scheme developed by Xu et al. (Applied Numerical Mathematics 152 (2020) 169-184). The proposed scheme consists of three steps: First, a small nonlinear system is solved on the coarse grid using fix-point iteration. Second, the Lagrange's linear interpolation formula is used to arrive at some auxiliary values for analysis of the fine grid. Finally, a linearized Crank-…
The polynomial spline collocation method is proposed for solution of Volterra integral equations of the first kind with special piecewise continuous kernels. The Gauss-type quadrature formula is used to approximate integrals during the discretisation of the proposed projection method. The estimate of accuracy of approximate solution is obtained. Stochastic arithmetics is also used based on the Contrôle et Estimation Stochastique des Arrondis de Calculs (CESTAC) method and the Control of Accuracy and Debugging for Numerical Applications (CADNA) library. Applying this approach it is possible to …
In this work, a new approach has been developed to obtain numerical solution of linear Volterra type integral equations by obtaining asymptotic approximation to solutions. Using the classical Bernoulli polynomials, a set of orthonormal polynomials have been derived, and these orthonormal polynomials have been used to form an operational matrix of integration which is has been implemented to find numerical or exact solution of non-singular Volterra integral equations. Two linear Volterra integral and two convolution integral equations of second kind have been solved to demonstrate the effective…

This paper provides an efficient recursive approach of the spectral Tau method to approximate the solution of system of generalized Abel-Volterra integral equations. In this regards, we first investigate the existence, uniqueness as well as smoothness of the solutions under assumption on the given data. Next, from a numerical perspective, we express approximated solution as a linear combination of suitable canonical polynomials which are constructed by an easy to use recursive formula. Mostly, the unknown parameters are calculated by solving a low dimensional algebraic systems independent of d…
We present algorithms for computing weakly singular and near-singular integrals arising when solving the 3D Helmholtz equation with curved boundary elements. These are based on the computation of the preimage of the singularity in the reference element's space using Newton's method, singularity subtraction, the continuation approach, and transplanted Gauss quadrature. We demonstrate the accuracy of our method for quadratic basis functions and quadratic triangles with several numerical experiments, including the scattering by two half-spheres.

Singularity subtraction for linear weakly singular Fredholm integral equations of the second kind is generalized to nonlinear integral equations. Two approaches are presented: The Classical Approach discretizes the nonlinear problem, and uses some finite dimensional linearization process to solve numerically the discrete problem. Its convergence is proved under mild hypotheses on the nonlinearity and the quadrature rule of the singularity subtraction scheme. The New Approach is based on linearization of the problem in its infinite dimensional setting, and discretization of the sequence of line…
We formulate and analyze an adaptive algorithm for isogeometric analysis with hierarchical B-splines for weakly-singular boundary integral equations. We prove that the employed weighted-residual error estimator is reliable and converges at optimal algebraic rate. Numerical experiments with isogeometric boundary elements for the 3D Poisson problem confirm the theoretical results, which also cover general elliptic systems like linear elasticity.
In this paper we propose and analyze a general arbitrarily high-order modified trapezoidal rule for a class of weakly singular integrals of the forms $I = \int_{\mathbb{R}^n}ϕ(x)s(x)dx$ in $n$ dimensions, where $ϕ\in C_c^N(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for some sufficiently large $N$ and $s$ is the weakly singular kernel. The admissible class of weakly singular kernel requires $s$ satisfies dilation and symmetry properties and is large enough to contain functions of the form $\frac{P(x)}{|x|^r}$ where $r > 0$ and $P(x)$ is any monomials such that $\text{deg} P < r < \text{deg} P + n$. The modified trapezoida…
In this paper, two numerical schemes for a nonlinear integral equation of Fredholm type with weakly singular kernel are proposed. These numerical methods combine sinc-collocation and sinc-convolution approximations with Newton and steepest descent iterative methods that involve solving a nonlinear system of equations. The convergence rate of the approximation schemes is also analyzed. Numerical experiments have been performed to illustrate the sharpness of the theoretical estimates and the sensitivity of the solution with respect to some parameters in the equation. The comparison between the s…
Finite element approximation for the delayed generalized Burgers-Huxley equation with weakly singular kernel: Part II Non-Conforming and DG approximation
This paper considers efficient spectral solutions for weakly singular nonlocal diffusion equations with Dirichlet-type volume constraints. The equation we consider contains an integral operator that typically has a singularity at the midpoint of the integral domain, and the approximation of the integral operator is one of the essential difficulties in solving nonlocal equations. To overcome this problem, two-sided Jacobi spectral quadrature rules are proposed to develop a Jacobi spectral collocation method for nonlocal diffusion equations. A rigorous convergence analysis of the proposed method…
In this work, a class of non-linear weakly singular fractional integro-differential equations is considered, and we first prove existence, uniqueness, and smoothness properties of the solution under certain assumptions on the given data. We propose a numerical method based on spectral Petrov-Galerkin method that handling to the non-smooth behavior of the solution. The most outstanding feature of our approach is to evaluate the approximate solution by means of recurrence relations despite solving complex non-linear algebraic system. Furthermore, the well-known exponential accuracy is establishe…
In the present work, we consider weakly-singular integral equations arising from linear second-order strongly-elliptic PDE systems with constant coefficients, including, e.g., linear elasticity. We introduce a general framework for optimal convergence of adaptive Galerkin BEM. We identify certain abstract properties for the underlying meshes, the corresponding mesh-refinement strategy, and the ansatz spaces that guarantee convergence at optimal algebraic rate of an adaptive algorithm driven by the weighted-residual error. These properties are satisfied, e.g., for discontinuous piecewise polyno…
This paper considers the initial value problem of general nonlinear stochastic fractional integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels. Our effort is devoted to establishing some fine estimates to include all the cases of Abel-type singular kernels. Firstly, the existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence on the initial value of the true solution under local Lipschitz condition and linear growth condition are derived in detail. Secondly, the Euler--Maruyama method is developed for solving numerically the equation, and then its strong convergence is proven under the same cond…
In this work, we develop a multifactor approximation for $d$-dimensional Stochastic Volterra Equations (SVE) with Lipschitz coefficients and kernels of completely monotone type that may be singular. First, we prove an $L^2$-estimation between two SVEs with different kernels, which provides a quantification of the error between the SVE and any multifactor Stochastic Differential Equation (SDE) approximation. For the particular rough kernel case with Hurst parameter lying in $(0,1/2)$, we propose various approximating multifactor kernels, state their rates of convergence and illustrate their eff…
As is well known, using piecewise linear polynomial collocation (PLC) and piecewise quadratic polynomial collocation (PQC), respectively, to approximate the weakly singular integral $$I(a,b,x) =\int^b_a \frac{u(y)}{|x-y|^γ}dy, \quad x \in (a,b) ,\quad 0< γ<1,$$ have the local truncation error $\mathcal{O}\left(h^2\right)$ and $\mathcal{O}\left(h^{4-γ}\right)$. Moreover, for Fredholm weakly singular integral equations of the second kind, i.e., $λu(x)- I(a,b,x) =f(x)$ with $ λ\neq 0$, also have global convergence rate $\mathcal{O}\left(h^2\right)$ and $\mathcal{O}\left(h^{4-γ}\right)$ in [Atkins…
